What is Utility vest?

Utility vest is included in this pack at version 1.0.2, built for NeoForge on Minecraft 1.21.1. It has been part of the pack since version 4.0 or earlier, so it is a long-standing addition rather than something new.[1]

That is everything the pack files confirm about it. There are no quests in this pack that involve the mod, and it is not on the ATM Star path, so you will not be nudged toward it by the questbook or by any progression gate.[1]

Unverified What Utility vest actually does, who it is best suited for, how it is obtained, and where it fits in this pack's progression could not be confirmed. No guidebook, platform description or recipe data was available for it, so those details are not covered here.

How do you get started with Utility vest?

3 parts

Utility vest adds a set of vests, and in this pack each one is made with an ordinary shaped crafting recipe. You don't need a special machine, so you can start as soon as you have the materials.[2]

First: make the Leather Utility Vest

Start with the Leather Utility Vest. Its recipe is the only one in the set with no metal, gem or netherite ingredient, so it is the one to start with.[2]

Next: learn the vest controls

Once you have a vest, check its tooltip. The mod explains its own controls there. The vest has an inventory menu that you open with a keybind, and you open the filter menu by pressing Sneak plus another keybind.[3]

  • Set filters by holding a keybind and pressing a number key. Load filters with a keybind and a number key as well.[3]
  • Restock is a keybind that inserts items matching your filters into the vest's inventory.[3]
Tip: The tooltip is the quickest reminder of the controls, so hover over the vest in-game whenever you forget a keybind.[3]

Then: craft the other tiers when you have the materials

The Iron Utility Vest, Gold Utility Vest, Diamond Utility Vest and Netherite Utility Vest each have their own crafting recipe in this pack, shown below.[2]

How does Utility vest work?

2 parts

The vests in this pack are driven by menus and keybinds. The tooltips describe an inventory menu, a filter menu, filter presets on the number keys, and a restock action.[3]

Vest tiers

The pack has the Leather Utility Vest, Iron Utility Vest, Gold Utility Vest, Diamond Utility Vest and Netherite Utility Vest. Each one is a shaped crafting recipe that comes from the mod itself.[2]

The netherite vest is also a shaped recipe from the mod. The iron, gold and diamond vests are listed the same way.

Using the vest

  • Inventory menu: press the vest's inventory key to open the inventory menu.[3]
  • Filter menu: press Sneak plus the vest's filter key to open the filter menu.[3]
  • Hotbar presets: set a filter with the preset key plus a number key. Load a filter with the load key plus a number key.[3]
  • Restock: press the restock key to insert items matching your filters into the vest's inventory.[3]
Tip: Set up a filter, then use restock to move the matching items into the vest's inventory. Saving filters on the number keys lets you load them again later with the load key plus a number key.[3]

How do you progress through Utility vest?

5 parts

The Utility Vest line in this pack runs from Leather Utility Vest through Iron Utility Vest, Gold Utility Vest and Diamond Utility Vest up to Netherite Utility Vest. Every tier has its own crafting recipe, so you can make whichever vest you have the materials for.[2]

Each recipe is a shaped crafting recipe from the mod itself. The recipes below are the in-pack versions, so what you see is exactly what you can craft here.[2]

Tip: The recipes are written with item groups (tags) rather than single items, so any chest, leather or matching material from those groups works. You are not tied to one specific source for them.[2]

Unverified Quest chapters: the sources here do not show any quest that involves the Utility Vest, so I can't tell you where the pack's quest book places it.

What changed in Utility vest between versions?

There isn't much history to cover here, and that's a good thing. Utility vest was added to All the Mods 10 in version 4.0 at mod version 1.0.2.[4]

All the Mods 10 4.14 still ships the same version, 1.0.2, using the NeoForge 1.21.1 build of the jar. So the mod hasn't changed in the pack between 4.0 and 4.14.[1][4]

Unverified The mod's own changelogs for the shipped jar aren't available, so what changed in Utility vest before 1.0.2 or in other releases outside this pack is unverified.
