What is The Bumblezone - NeoForge/Forge?

1 part

The Bumblezone adds a whole dimension built around bees. It looks like the inside of a giant bee nest, with rows of huge walls separated by canals of water. As you explore, you might find pollen-covered areas or a canyon full of massive honey crystals, along with plenty of new bee-themed blocks and several structures to explore.[1]

The catch is that the bees here guard their honey fiercely. If you mine a vanilla Honey Block, break or take honey from a Honeycomb Brood Block, or hit a bee, you get the Wrath of the Hive effect. Every nearby bee gets buffed and comes after you. You can calm them by feeding honey foods to the bees or the brood blocks. Doing that gives you Protection of the Hive, and bees will defend you against anything that attacks you.[1]

If you're lucky, some structures contain a special Throne-Locating Honey Compass that leads you to a Bee Queen. To learn how to enter the dimension and what to do there, check the Bumblezone advancements tab.[1]

Tip: If the textures bother you because of trypophobia, the mod includes a built-in Anti-Trypophobia resource pack. Open the resource pack screen and move it to the top of the right side to turn it on.[1]

The Bumblezone in All the Mods 10

All the Mods 10 4.5 ships version 7.10.0+1.21.1-neoforge of the mod, and it has been in the pack since 2.25 or earlier.[2]

The pack gives the mod its own quest chapter, which works like a collection checklist. It covers gear such as the Stinger Spear, Bee Cannon, Crystal Cannon and Honey Crystal Shield, along with food, music discs, banner patterns and the bee armor pieces. The essence quests build on earlier quests, and the Essence of the Bees quest needs a long list of prerequisites before it unlocks.[3]

The bee armor also appears in the basic armor chapter. One quest asks for the full set of Stingless Bee Helmet, Bumble Bee Chestplate, Honey Bee Leggings and Carpenter Bee Boots. A second quest asks for the second version of each piece.[4]

How do you get started with The Bumblezone - NeoForge/Forge?

3 parts

The Bumblezone adds a whole bee dimension that looks like the inside of a giant bee nest, with huge walls in rows and canals of water running between them. Before you rush in, open the Bumblezone advancements tab, because that's where the mod explains how to enter the dimension and what to do there.[1]

Watch out: Bees in the Bumblezone guard their honey. If you mine a vanilla Honey Block, destroy or take honey from a Honeycomb Brood Block, or hit a bee, you get Wrath of the Hive and every bee nearby gets buffed and turns on you. Feeding honey foods to bees or to the brood block calms them down and gives you Protection of the Hive, which makes bees defend you instead.[1]

Your first crafts

Start with the Flower Headwear. Wearing it attracts bees, so it makes a good first piece of gear for a bee dimension. It's also a quest in the pack's Bumblezone chapter (a quest in "?").[3][5]

Next, grab a weapon. The Stinger Spear has its own quest (a quest in "?"), and the pack has several versions of the recipe that differ only in the spear's direction in the grid, so you can use whichever layout you like.[3][6]

Other orientations of this recipe also work.

Then work toward a Honey Compass. You can craft one or find one, and the chapter has two quests for it (a quest in "?" and a quest in "?"). Some structures hold special Throne-Locating Honey Compasses that point you to a Bee Queen. You'll also want a Honey Bucket, which you can make from a vanilla honey block.[1][3][5][6]

Pack-specific recipes

This pack adds its own recipe for the Honey Crystal Shield, which has its own quest (a quest in "?"). The pack also adds a recipe for Carvable Wax. You can carve artwork into that block with shears or a sword.[3][5][6]

How does The Bumblezone - NeoForge/Forge work?

6 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

Heads up before we dive in: the sources I have for The Bumblezone don't describe any machines, multiblocks, power, fluid handling or automation. What they do cover is the mod's core gameplay loop, which is about bees, honey and how angry the hive gets. That's what this section walks through.[1][7]

Unverified Whether The Bumblezone adds any machine, power, fluid or automation systems in this pack is not confirmed by the available sources. No in-jar guidebook or reusable documentation was found.

Wrath of the Hive and Protection of the Hive

The bees in the Bumblezone dimension are very protective of their honey. If you mine vanilla's Honey Block, destroy or take honey from a Honeycomb Brood Block, or hit a bee, the bees around you get many buffs and turn very angry. That is the Wrath of the Hive effect.[1]

You can calm them down by feeding bees or Honeycomb Brood Blocks with honey foods. Doing so gives you Protection of the Hive, and bees will then defend you against anyone attacking you. One advancement also notes that with Protection active you can collect honey from a Filled Porous Honeycomb Block or mine a Honey Block.[1][7]

How the pack tunes the bees

These are the values this pack ships in its bee aggression config. Wrath is enabled through [[config:config/the_bumblezone/bee_aggression.toml#Wrath of the Hive Options.Bees Aggression Options.allowWrath]], which is set to true. Peaceful mode always overrides the setting.[8]

  • [[config:config/the_bumblezone/bee_aggression.toml#Wrath of the Hive Options.Bees Aggression Options.aggressionTriggerRadius]] is 64. This is how far away a bee can be and still turn angry and hunt you down. The allowed range is 1 to 200.[8]
  • [[config:config/the_bumblezone/bee_aggression.toml#Wrath of the Hive Options.Bees Aggression Options.howLongWrathOfTheHiveLasts]] is 1680 ticks, and 20 ticks make 1 second. The bees' normal anger stays on top of this.[8]
  • [[config:config/the_bumblezone/bee_aggression.toml#Protection of the Hive Options.howLongProtectionOfTheHiveLasts]] is also 1680 ticks. This is how long Protection lasts after you feed bees or Brood Blocks.[8]
  • Angry bees get speed level 2 ([[config:config/the_bumblezone/bee_aggression.toml#Wrath of the Hive Options.Bee Buffs From Wrath.speedBoostLevel]]), absorption level 1 ([[config:config/the_bumblezone/bee_aggression.toml#Wrath of the Hive Options.Bee Buffs From Wrath.absorptionBoostLevel]]) and strength level 1 ([[config:config/the_bumblezone/bee_aggression.toml#Wrath of the Hive Options.Bee Buffs From Wrath.strengthBoostLevel]]).[8]
  • [[config:config/the_bumblezone/bee_aggression.toml#Wrath of the Hive Options.Bees Aggression Options.allowWrathOfTheHiveOutsideBumblezone]] is false, so picking up honey outside the dimension won't give you Wrath. [[config:config/the_bumblezone/bee_aggression.toml#Wrath of the Hive Options.Bees Aggression Options.beehemothTriggersWrath]] is also false.[8]
  • [[config:config/the_bumblezone/bee_aggression.toml#Wrath of the Hive Options.Bees Aggression Options.showWrathOfTheHiveParticles]] is true, so you'll see the orange-ish particles when you anger the bees.[8]

The config explains what absorption level 1 means in practice. It gives bees 4 extra health, which is 2 hearts, that instantly regenerates. Your hits need to deal more than that padding to hurt the bee's real health bar. The config also says that strength 5 or higher would kill you instantly without armor, so be careful if you raise it.[8]

Watch out: Wrath makes bees able to see you through walls, so don't count on hiding behind blocks. Feed them honey food to appease them.[7][8]
Tip: Wearing Flower Headwear into a Cell Maze structure means you won't get the Wrath effect inside it. You can also wear it to attract bees.[7]

Feeding and handling bees

Honey Bucket is your main feeding tool. According to the advancements, you can use it to grow a baby bee up instantly, to put a group of adult bees in love, and to grow bee larva in certain brood blocks. You can craft it from a bucket and a honey block.[7][9]

Feeding Bee Bread to bees speeds them up, and the advancement for this is about reaching maximum speed. You can also wash pollen off a bee with a Wet Sponge, Water Bucket or Water Bottle.[7]

Cannons and throwables

The Bee Cannon and the Crystal Cannon are loaded and fired, and each has an advancement for firing a full load of bees or crystals. The Crystal Cannon is crafted from a Bee Cannon.[7][9]

Essence client options

This pack's client config controls how Knowing Essence highlights things. It is on for bosses in purple ([[config:config/the_bumblezone/client.toml#Knowing Essence Highlighting Configs (see block and entity tags for even more options).knowingEssenceHighlightBosses]]), monsters in red, other mobs in orange, common items in white and epic items in purple. Every one of these is set to true.[10]

When an Essence item is in your offhand, the HUD shows rotating texture layers. [[config:config/the_bumblezone/client.toml#Essence Item HUD Rendering Configs.essenceItemHUDVisualEffectLayers]] is 3, with a range of 0 to 3, and 0 turns the rendering off. The spin speed ([[config:config/the_bumblezone/client.toml#Essence Item HUD Rendering Configs.essenceItemHUDVisualEffectSpeed]]) is 1, and 0 turns the spinning off.[10]

How do you progress through The Bumblezone - NeoForge/Forge?

4 parts

This pack tracks The Bumblezone in its own quest chapter, and it works more like a collection checklist than a strict ladder. Almost every quest asks you to get one item, and most of them have no prerequisites, so you can pick them up in whatever order you find things.[3]

What the chapter asks you to collect

The gated quests

A handful of quests only unlock after other quests, and these are where the real progression shows up.[3]

Armor: two versions of every piece

Every Bumblezone armor piece comes in two versions: Stingless Bee Helmet and Stingless Bee Helmet, Bumble Bee Chestplate and Bumble Bee Chestplate, Honey Bee Leggings and Honey Bee Leggings, and Carpenter Bee Boots and Carpenter Bee Boots. The Bumblezone chapter has a separate quest for each piece.[3]

The pack's basic armor chapter also collects them as full sets: a quest in "?" wants all four pieces of the first version, and a quest in "?" wants all four pieces of the second.[4]

Unverified The sources don't say how the two armor versions differ, or whether the second version is an upgrade of the first.

Crafting the gear

The Stinger Spear is the easiest weapon to get. The pack has several shaped recipes for it, one for each way you can lay it out in the grid.[6]

How does The Bumblezone - NeoForge/Forge work with other mods?

3 parts

The Bumblezone doesn't sit on its own in this pack. A handful of recipes link it to other mods, mainly for decorating with its candles and for turning bee products into wax you can build with. Here's what connects to what.[6]

Dyed Super Candles

The pack adds shapeless crafting recipes that combine a Super Candle with extra dye colors from the dyenamicsandfriends namespace. Each color has its own recipe, and each one gives you a matching candle base, such as the Honey Super Candle Base, Amber Super Candle Base or Cherenkov Super Candle Base.[6]

Other colors include Aquamarine Super Candle Base, Bubblegum Super Candle Base, Conifer Super Candle Base, Fluorescent Super Candle Base, Icy Blue Super Candle Base, Lavender Super Candle Base, Maroon Super Candle Base, Mint Super Candle Base, Navy Super Candle Base, Peach Super Candle Base, Persimmon Super Candle Base, Rose Super Candle Base, Spring Green Super Candle Base, Ultramarine Super Candle Base and Wine Super Candle Base.[6]

Every color works the same way. Only the dye changes.

Tip: These candle recipes are shapeless, so it doesn't matter where you place the items in the crafting grid.[6]

Productive Bees wax

Productive Bees has a centrifuge recipe that processes Bumblezone royal jelly (Royal Jelly Fluid Still) into Wax. This comes from the mod itself, not from a pack change.[6]

WaxMod recipe

Centrifuge (productivebees)

The pack then closes the loop with a shaped crafting recipe that uses Wax to make Bumblezone Carvable Wax. If you're already running Productive Bees, this gives you another way to get carvable wax for building.[6]

In the quest book

None of the pack's quests for this mod ask for items from other mods. There is one overlap between chapters, though: the bee armor pieces also show up in the Basic Armor chapter. One quest there asks for the full set of Stingless Bee Helmet, Bumble Bee Chestplate, Honey Bee Leggings and Carpenter Bee Boots, and another asks for the second versions of each piece.[3][4]

You can find those quests at a quest in "?" and a quest in "?".[4]

Which All the Mods 10 quests use The Bumblezone - NeoForge/Forge?

3 parts

The Bumblezone appears in two quest chapters in this pack. It has its own dedicated Bumblezone chapter, and its bee armor also shows up in the Basic Armor chapter. Nearly every quest is a simple item task: get the item and the quest completes.[3][4]

The Bumblezone chapter

This is the main chapter for the mod. Most of its quests have no listed prerequisites, so you can knock them out in whatever order you find the items. A handful are locked behind other quests. Those are covered further down.[3]

The free-to-do quests fall into a few groups. First up are weapons, tools and gear.[3]

The chapter also has a separate quest for every individual bee armor piece, in both of its versions.[3]

There are also collectible quests. Each banner pattern gets its own quest: a quest in "?", a quest in "?", a quest in "?", a quest in "?", a quest in "?", a quest in "?", a quest in "?" and a quest in "?". They cover the bee, swords, arrows, sun, honeycombs, eyes, peace and pluses patterns.[3]

Each of the mod's music discs gets its own quest too: a quest in "?", a quest in "?", a quest in "?", a quest in "?", a quest in "?", a quest in "?", a quest in "?", a quest in "?", a quest in "?" and a quest in "?".[3]

Quests with prerequisites

The rest of the chapter only unlocks after you finish other quests. a quest in "?" asks for Beehive Beeswax. Two separate quests, a quest in "?" and a quest in "?", each ask for a Honey Compass, and each one sits behind a different set of prerequisites.[3]

Each essence has its own gated quest. a quest in "?" wants Essence of Life, a quest in "?" wants Essence of Calming and a quest in "?" wants Essence of Radiance. After those come a quest in "?" for Essence of Knowing, a quest in "?" for Essence of Continuity and a quest in "?" for Essence of Raging.[3]

The big one is a quest in "?", which asks for Essence of the Bees. It has by far the longest prerequisite list in the chapter, so treat it as the capstone you'll reach late.[3]

Unverified The quest data only lists these prerequisites by ID, so it isn't confirmed which quests they are or which chapter they belong to. Check the in-game quest book to see exactly what unlocks each gated quest.

The Basic Armor chapter

The bee armor shows up again here, this time as full sets. a quest in "?" asks for all four pieces in one version: Stingless Bee Helmet, Bumble Bee Chestplate, Honey Bee Leggings and Carpenter Bee Boots. a quest in "?" asks for the other version of the set: Stingless Bee Helmet, Bumble Bee Chestplate, Honey Bee Leggings and Carpenter Bee Boots.[4]

Tip: The Bumblezone chapter has a quest for each of these same armor pieces. Hang on to your bee armor as you make it and you'll make progress in both chapters.[3][4]

Unverified The quest data doesn't explain how the two versions of each bee armor piece differ, or whether one is an upgrade of the other.

Which The Bumblezone - NeoForge/Forge config options matter?

5 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

The Bumblezone has a lot of config files, so here are the options you're most likely to notice in play, with the exact values this pack uses. The bees are the big one: they get really angry if you take their honey, and the config lets you tune how angry.[1]

Unverified The pack files list the values this pack uses but not the mod's own defaults, so I can't confirm which of the values below the pack changed. Treat them all as this pack's settings, not as proof of a change.

Wrath of the Hive

Wrath is switched on with [[config:config/the_bumblezone/bee_aggression.toml#Wrath of the Hive Options.Bees Aggression Options.allowWrath]] set to true. Bees within [[config:config/the_bumblezone/bee_aggression.toml#Wrath of the Hive Options.Bees Aggression Options.aggressionTriggerRadius]] = 64 can get angry and hunt you down. Peaceful mode always overrides the setting.[8]

  • [[config:config/the_bumblezone/bee_aggression.toml#Wrath of the Hive Options.Bees Aggression Options.howLongWrathOfTheHiveLasts]] is 1680 ticks (20 ticks = 1 second).[8]
  • Angry bees get speed [[config:config/the_bumblezone/bee_aggression.toml#Wrath of the Hive Options.Bee Buffs From Wrath.speedBoostLevel]] = 2, absorption [[config:config/the_bumblezone/bee_aggression.toml#Wrath of the Hive Options.Bee Buffs From Wrath.absorptionBoostLevel]] = 1 and strength [[config:config/the_bumblezone/bee_aggression.toml#Wrath of the Hive Options.Bee Buffs From Wrath.strengthBoostLevel]] = 1.[8]
  • [[config:config/the_bumblezone/bee_aggression.toml#Wrath of the Hive Options.Bees Aggression Options.allowWrathOfTheHiveOutsideBumblezone]] is false, so grabbing honey outside the dimension won't give you Wrath.[8]
  • [[config:config/the_bumblezone/bee_aggression.toml#Wrath of the Hive Options.Bees Aggression Options.beehemothTriggersWrath]] is false, so hurting someone else's beehemoth doesn't hand out Wrath.[8]
  • Protection of the Hive, the effect you get for feeding bees or Brood Blocks, lasts for [[config:config/the_bumblezone/bee_aggression.toml#Protection of the Hive Options.howLongProtectionOfTheHiveLasts]] = 1680 ticks.[8]
Watch out: The config notes say a strength boost of 5 or higher instantly kills you without armor, and a very high absorption boost can make bees invincible. This pack uses 1 for both, so leave them alone unless you want a challenge.[8]

Entering and leaving the dimension

Teleporting in and out is handled by the mod: [[config:config/the_bumblezone/dimension.toml#The Bumblezone Teleportation Options.enableEntranceTeleportation]] and [[config:config/the_bumblezone/dimension.toml#The Bumblezone Teleportation Options.enableExitTeleportation]] are both true. [[config:config/the_bumblezone/dimension.toml#The Bumblezone Teleportation Options.allowTeleportationWithModdedBeehives]] is also true, so modded nests and hives work too. [[config:config/the_bumblezone/dimension.toml#The Bumblezone Teleportation Options.onlyOverworldHivesTeleports]] and [[config:config/the_bumblezone/dimension.toml#The Bumblezone Teleportation Options.forceExitToOverworld]] are false, and [[config:config/the_bumblezone/dimension.toml#The Bumblezone Teleportation Options.defaultDimension]] is "minecraft:overworld".[11]

[[config:config/the_bumblezone/dimension.toml#The Bumblezone Teleportation Options.warnPlayersOfWrongBlockUnderHive]] is true. If a block tag requires a certain block under the hive, you get a warning telling you which block is needed. The first-time welcome message ([[config:config/the_bumblezone/dimension.toml#The Bumblezone Welcome Options.enableInitialWelcomeMessage]]) is turned off.[11]

Bee Queen and Crystalline Flower

  • Bonus trades: [[config:config/the_bumblezone/general.toml#Bee Queen Options.beeQueenBonusTradeRewardMultiplier]] is 3, [[config:config/the_bumblezone/general.toml#Bee Queen Options.beeQueenBonusTradeAmountTillSatified]] is 24 boosted trades, and [[config:config/the_bumblezone/general.toml#Bee Queen Options.beeQueenBonusTradeDurationInTicks]] is 24,000 ticks before she asks for a new item.[12]
  • [[config:config/the_bumblezone/general.toml#Bee Queen Options.beeQueenRespawning]] is true, so she can respawn in the Throne Pillar when you locate it with a fresh Throne Honey Compass.[12]
  • The Crystalline Flower uses [[config:config/the_bumblezone/general.toml#Crystalline Flower Options.crystallineFlowerEnchantingPowerAllowedPerTier]] = 8, with no extra tier cost or extra XP requirement (both 0). It eats item entities and XP orbs that touch it, and its GUI accepts items and XP.[12]

Essence cooldowns

Cooldowns are in ticks. Calming, Life and Radiance Essence are all 12,000, Knowing is 18,000, Raging is 36,000 and Continuity is 48,000. [[config:config/the_bumblezone/general.toml#Essence Item And Events Options.repeatableEssenceEvents]] is true, so you can repeat the Sempiternal Sanctum events after beating them once. Raging Essence uses the strength levels [1,2,3,5,8,14,20] via [[config:config/the_bumblezone/general.toml#Essence Item And Events Options.ragingEssenceStrengthLevels]].[12]

Bees and visuals

[[config:config/the_bumblezone/general.toml#Special Bee Spawning Options.specialBeeSpawning]] is on with [[config:config/the_bumblezone/general.toml#Special Bee Spawning Options.nearbyBeesPerPlayerInBz]] = 25, and Brood Blocks spawn bees up to a cap of 40 ([[config:config/the_bumblezone/general.toml#General Mechanics Options.broodBlocksBeeSpawnCapacity]]).[12]

On the client side, the dimension fog is enabled with brightness 100 and thickness 4. If the fog bugs you, tweak [[config:config/the_bumblezone/client.toml#The Bumblezone Client Dimension Options.fogThickness]] or [[config:config/the_bumblezone/client.toml#The Bumblezone Client Dimension Options.fogBrightnessPercentage]]. The Wrath music ([[config:config/the_bumblezone/client.toml#Music configs.playWrathOfHiveEffectMusic]]) is on too.[10]
