What is The Aether?
The Aether is included in this pack at version 1.5.9, using the NeoForge build for Minecraft 1.21.1 (aether-1.21.1-1.5.9-neoforge.jar).[1]
It isn't a new addition. The pack's mod list shows it was already present in version 4.6 or earlier, so it has been part of the pack for a while.[1]
Unverified The sources I was given don't describe what the mod adds, who it suits best, or where it fits in the pack's progression. They also don't show any quests involving it or a place on the ATM Star path, so I can't say anything about those. Check in-game before relying on any of that.
How do you get started with The Aether?
4 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10 4.14 guide
Welcome to the Aether! Everything here comes from the recipes in this pack, so the recipe blocks show exactly what you craft in this version. Here is the order I'd make things in.[2]
Start with Skyroot tools
Begin with the Skyroot Axe. It's the entry-level tool from the mod's own wood, and the same skyroot stick ingredient shows up again in the Holystone tools, the Ambrosium Torch, the Nature Staff and the Gravitite tools, so it pays off early.[2]

The Skyroot Axe is a shaped recipe that uses a skyroot stick.
If you want to carry liquids, the Skyroot Bucket is the Aether's own bucket and is crafted from skyroot tool materials.[2]

Move on to Holystone
Once you have Holystone, craft a Holystone Pickaxe. Holystone is the base material for a lot of the mod's crafting, including the Altar, the Freezer and the Incubator, so you will keep coming back to it.[2]

Light and the Altar
The Ambrosium Torch is the Aether's torch, and it is also a component of the Incubator recipe.[2]

Then work toward the Altar. Its recipe needs a zanite gem, and the mod has an advancement just for having a Zanite Gemstone in your inventory. The Altar is also how you obtain Enchanted Gravitite, which has its own advancement too.[2][3]
Accessories: check the recipes
This recipe is changed by the pack compared with the mod's default.
This one is changed by the pack too.
Once you have a Freezer and some Icestone, you can freeze an accessory with them, which the mod tracks as an advancement.[2][3]
How does The Aether work?
3 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide
The sources for this mod cover a handful of utility blocks and a set of gameplay rules you can tune in the configs. They don't describe machine GUIs, processing, power or automation, so this section sticks to what they do show.[3]
Altar and Freezer
The utility blocks the sources mention are the Altar and the Freezer. The Altar is tied to an advancement where you use it to obtain Enchanted Gravitite. The Freezer is tied to an advancement where you use it with Icestone to freeze an accessory.[3]

Gameplay rules you can configure
A few options in the server config change how core mechanics behave. Here is what each one does.[3]
- Armor abilities can be made to depend on wearing the matching gloves from an armor set, which is why items like Gravitite Gloves matter.[3]
- Ambrosium Shard can be set to be edible, restoring a half heart of health.[3]
- The Hammer of Kingbdogz and the Cloud Staff each have an ability cooldown measured in ticks.[3]
- There is a cap on how many Life Shards a player can consume to raise their health, and the extra hearts can be drawn as silver.[3]
- Vanilla beds can be set to explode in the Aether.[3]
- On entering the Aether, players can be given a Book of Lore and Golden Parachute items as starting loot. On world creation they can also be given an Aether Portal Frame item to travel to the Aether.[3]
What the pack changes
The pack changes the crafting recipes for the Golden Pendant and the Golden Ring. Use these in-pack versions instead of what you may remember from the mod's defaults.[4]

The pack also sets the accessories button position to 10 on the x-axis in [[config:config/aether-client.toml#Gui.Button x-coordinate in accessories menu]] and 28 on the x-axis in [[config:config/aether-client.toml#Gui.Button x-coordinate in inventory menus]]. These control where the Aether's accessories button sits in those menus.[5]
[[config:config/aether-common.toml#Gameplay.Show Patreon message]] is set to false, so the message linking the mod's Patreon doesn't show. [[config:config/aether-startup.toml#Gui.Enables random trivia]] is also false, so you won't see random trivia and tips at the bottom of loading screens.[3][6][7]
How do you progress through The Aether?
5 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10 4.14 guide
The Aether has no quest line in this pack, so there is no quest checklist to follow. What the recipe data does give us is a full set of crafting recipes that group into material tiers: skyroot, holystone, zanite and gravitite. Here is how each one looks in the pack.[2]
Unverified The sources here do not show any pack quest involving The Aether, and they do not place the mod on the ATM Star quest path.
Skyroot: your first tools
Skyroot is the wood tier. You craft Skyroot Planks and Skyroot Stick, and many other recipes use them. The skyroot tool set (pickaxe, axe, shovel, hoe and sword) has its own recipes, and so do building pieces like slabs, stairs, doors, fences and boats.[2]

The Skyroot Bucket also has a crafting recipe in this tier.[2]
Holystone: stone tools and utility blocks
Holystone is the stone tier. It has its own pickaxe, axe, shovel, hoe and sword, plus a building set: bricks, slabs, stairs, walls, a button and a pressure plate. You can also make Mossy Holystone using either a moss block or a vine.[2]

Holystone is also an ingredient in the Altar, the Incubator and the Freezer. The recipe data only shows how to craft them, so what each one does in this pack is not covered here.[2]
Zanite: gemstone gear
Zanite Gemstone can be crafted into a Block of Zanite, and it is the material for zanite gear. The recipes visible in the data include the Zanite Axe, Zanite Boots and Zanite Chestplate. Part of the recipe list is not shown to me, so the rest of the zanite set is not confirmed here.[2]
The Nature Staff is crafted with zanite as well.[2]

Gravitite: tools and armor
Gravitite has recipes for a pickaxe, axe, shovel, hoe and sword, plus helmet, chestplate, leggings, boots and gloves. They are crafted from items in the processed gravitite tag, not from raw material.[2]

Gloves, rings and pendants
Gloves come in several materials: Leather Gloves, Iron Gloves, Golden Gloves, Diamond Gloves and Gravitite Gloves all have recipes.[2]
The pack has changed the recipes for the Iron Ring, Iron Pendant, Golden Ring and Golden Pendant. Check the recipes below rather than relying on what you remember from the base mod.[2]

How does The Aether work with other mods?
2 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10 4.14 guide
The only cross-mod link I can confirm for The Aether in this pack is Bibliocraft furniture. The pack has recipes that use the Skyroot Slab as the wood part of Bibliocraft pieces, so you can furnish a build with Aether wood.[2]
The pack marks all of these recipes as changed, so they are the pack's versions, not plain mod defaults. Each one is a shaped crafting recipe, and each piece comes in a Skyroot version for these dye colors: black, blue, brown, cyan, gray, green, light blue, light gray, lime and magenta.[2]
What you can make
- Display cases, for example Black Skyroot Display Case. Each color has its own recipe, and it also uses glass.[2]
- Seats, for example Blue Skyroot Seat.[2]
- Seat backs in these styles: small, flat, raised, fancy and tall. For example, Lime Skyroot Small Seat Back and Lime Skyroot Raised Seat Back both start from the slab and matching wool. The fancy and tall versions, such as Cyan Skyroot Fancy Seat Back, are made from the flat seat back of the same color.[2]

Which The Aether config options matter?
The Aether has very little in its config files for this pack, and what is there is small quality-of-life stuff rather than gameplay changes. Here is how the pack sets each option.[8][9]
- [[config:config/aether-common.toml#Gameplay.Show Patreon message]] is set to false. This option decides whether a message linking The Aether mod's Patreon is shown, so in this pack that message is turned off.[8]
- [[config:config/aether-startup.toml#Gui.Enables random trivia]] is set to false. When enabled, this option adds random trivia and tips to the bottom of loading screens, so in this pack those tips are turned off.[9]
What changed in The Aether between versions?
The version history for The Aether in this pack is short, because the sources only cover one change.[1][10]
- All the Mods 10 4.6: The Aether 1.5.9 was added to the pack.[10]
- All the Mods 10 4.11: the pack ships The Aether 1.5.9, using the file aether-1.21.1-1.5.9-neoforge.jar. The mod list says it was first included in 4.6 or earlier, which matches the 4.6 changelog entry.[1]
So if you're on 4.11, you're on the same Aether version that arrived in 4.6. The sources show no update to the mod in between.[1][10]
Unverified What changed inside The Aether 1.5.9 itself (new features, fixes, balance changes) is unverified. There are no stored changelogs for the shipped jar, so this section can't list the mod's own changes.
