What is Sophisticated Core?
Sophisticated Core is included in the pack at version 1.4.90 (file sophisticatedcore-1.21.1-1.4.90.2299.jar). It has been part of the pack since version 2.25 or earlier, so it's a long-standing member of the mod list.[1]
Unverified The available sources don't describe what Sophisticated Core does, who it is aimed at, or any pack-specific changes to its recipes or configs, so none of that is covered here. They also don't show the mod on the ATM Star path or tied to any quests, so there is no progression guidance for it yet.
How do you get started with Sophisticated Core?
2 parts
Sophisticated Core is the shared base behind the storage screens of backpack and storage mods. The sources here show no items to craft from it directly, so your first steps are about learning the screen and settings you get once you hold a backpack or storage block from a mod that uses it.[2]
Unverified The sources here show no recipes or quests in this pack for Sophisticated Core, so there is no confirmed crafting order to give you. For what to craft first, look at the quest book and recipes of the storage mods that build on it.
What to do first
- Hover over a backpack or storage item. An empty one reads "No Upgrades or Inventory Contents". Once it holds something, the tooltip tells you which key to press to view the contents and shows its Stack Size Multiplier.[2]
- Open the settings and look at the player level settings. They apply to all your backpacks and storages unless a specific one overrides them, so set your habits here once.[2]
- Decide whether the screen should keep your search phrase. When it is on, the search is prefilled and filtered when you reopen the screen. When it is off, the phrase clears on close and everything is shown again.[2]
- Decide whether to keep the upgrade tab open. When it is on, the screen remembers the last open upgrade tab and reopens it next time. When it is off, all tabs start closed.[2]
- Choose how shift click behaves. When the option is on, shift click tries an open upgrade tab first and then the inventory or storage. When it is off, it tries the inventory or storage first and only then an open tab.[2]
Slot settings worth knowing
- Slot Memory Settings let you pick slots that remember their contents and only accept matching stacks. Left click or drag selects a slot, right click or drag unselects it.[2]
- No Sort Slot Settings let you pick slots that sorting ignores, using the same click and drag controls plus select all and unselect all buttons.[2]
- Item Display Settings let you pick a slot whose item is shown on top of the storage.[2]
The mod also has an enabled items option that comes prefilled with all supported items. Its tooltip says you change true to false to disable one, in the format item_id|true_or_false.[2]
How does Sophisticated Core work?
6 parts
Sophisticated Core is the shared interface layer behind backpack and storage GUIs. The sources for this pack cover tooltips and GUI descriptions, so this section explains how that interface and its settings behave.[2]
Player-level settings
The settings screen has a player-level context. Settings you change there apply to all your backpacks and storages unless an individual one overrides them. Set your preferences once, then tweak single containers only where you need to.[2]
Interface behavior toggles
- Keep search phrase: when off, the GUI clears the search phrase on close and shows every item again when you reopen it. When on, it keeps the phrase and filters by it on reopening.[2]
- Keep tab open: when off, the open upgrade tab closes with the GUI, and all tabs start closed next time. When on, the container remembers the last open upgrade tab and reopens it.[2]
- Shift-click open tab: when off, shift-clicking a stack moves it between inventory and storage first, and only then into an open tab. When on, an open tab gets the stack first.[2]
Slot settings
The settings screen has tabs that let you control individual slots. In the slot tabs, left click or drag selects slots and right click or drag unselects them.[2]
- Item Display: pick a slot whose item is shown on top of the storage.[2]
- Slot Memory: pick slots that remember their contents and only accept matching stacks. This tab has Select all and Unselect all buttons.[2]
- No Sort: pick slots that sorting ignores. This tab also has Select all and Unselect all buttons.[2]
Upgrade tabs
Installed upgrades get their own settings tabs. The sources name tabs for Advanced Alchemy, Advanced Compacting, Advanced Feeding, Advanced Filter, Advanced Magnet, Advanced Pickup and Advanced Void. There is also a Botanist's Workbench tab.[2]
Tank upgrades show their XP contents as a number of XP levels out of a maximum. A level control is labelled "Level at which Pump Stops", so you can choose the level where the pump stops. The sources don't explain more about how the pump works.[2]
Stack upgrades and tooltips
To convert an installed Stack Upgrade, right-click it. A storage item's tooltip shows its Stack Size Multiplier, and it says "No Upgrades or Inventory Contents" when it is empty. Otherwise you can press the key shown in the tooltip to view its contents.[2]
Templates and enabled items
The settings screen has an export template button. The sources say it creates a data pack containing an snbt file.[2]
The mod also has an enabled-items configuration. It comes prefilled with all supported items, and each entry uses the format item_id|true_or_false. Changing true to false disables that item.[2]
Unverified Which items, if any, the pack disables in the enabled-items option is set in the mod's config, and the sources here do not show it because no config files for this mod were available.
Which Sophisticated Core config options matter?
3 parts
Good news: Sophisticated Core only has one config option you really need to know about in this pack, and it's a big one. common.enabledItems is a master on/off switch for items from Sophisticated Core's add-ons, Sophisticated Backpacks and Sophisticated Storage included.[3]
How the enabled-items list works
Each entry is an item id followed by a pipe and either true or false, like sophisticatedstorage:chest|true. The file's own comment says you can disable or enable any item here, and that disabling an item disables its recipes.[3]
The list is long and many ids show up more than once, such as barrels, chests, shulker boxes and storage minecarts. Every repeated entry I can see carries the same value, so you don't need to worry about conflicts between them.[3]
What this pack turns off
Nearly everything in the list is set to true. Only two entries are set to false in this pack: the omega-tier stack upgrade for backpacks, Stack Upgrade Omega Tier, and the matching one for storage, Stack Upgrade Omega Tier. Based on the file's comment, that means their recipes are disabled here.[3]
What stays enabled
- The stack downgrade items for both backpacks and storage, for example Stack Downgrade Tier 1 and Stack Downgrade Tier 1, are set to true.[3]
- The infinity upgrades, Infinity Upgrade (Admin) and Infinity Upgrade (Admin), are set to true, and so are their survival variants such as Survival Infinity Upgrade.[3]
- The storage minecart, Storage Minecart, and the storage boat, Storage Boat, are both set to true.[3]
Unverified The source only shows the values this pack uses. It doesn't show the mod's defaults, so I can't confirm whether the two omega-tier entries being false is a change from the mod default or just how the mod ships.
What changed in Sophisticated Core between versions?
All the Mods 10 8.1 ships Sophisticated Core 1.4.90, using the jar sophisticatedcore-1.21.1-1.4.90.2299.jar. The mod has been in the pack since All the Mods 10 2.25 or earlier.[1]
The pack changelogs only record which version of the mod each release moved to. They don't say what changed inside those versions. Here are some milestones, from the earliest recorded bump up to the current release.[4][5]
- All the Mods 10 2.26: 1.1.3 to 1.1.5, the earliest bump in these changelogs.[4]
- All the Mods 10 2.31: 1.1.6 to 1.2.1.[6]
- All the Mods 10 2.37: 1.2.14 to 1.3.0.[7]
- All the Mods 10 5.5: 1.3.89 to 1.4.1.[8]
- All the Mods 10 7.1: 1.4.39 to 1.4.60.[9]
- All the Mods 10 7.2: 1.4.60 to 1.4.77.[10]
- All the Mods 10 7.3: 1.4.77 to 1.4.80.[11]
- All the Mods 10 8.0: 1.4.80 to 1.4.86.[12]
- All the Mods 10 8.1: 1.4.86 to 1.4.90, the version you have now.[5]
Unverified The gameplay or bug-fix changes inside each Sophisticated Core update are unverified. No changelogs for the shipped jars are available to the sources here, so this section doesn't describe what any of these versions changed.
