What is Sophisticated Core?
Sophisticated Core is included in this pack at version 1.0.5, shipped as the Minecraft 1.21.1 build sophisticatedcore-1.21.1-1.0.5.813.jar. It has been in the pack since version 0.32 or earlier, so it's a long-standing part of the mod list rather than a recent addition.[1]
Unverified The sources I have don't describe what Sophisticated Core does in gameplay, who it is aimed at, or where it fits in the pack's progression. They also don't show it on the ATM Star path or tied to any quests, so I'm not making claims about those. Check back once more detail is available.
How do you get started with Sophisticated Core?
2 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide
Sophisticated Core is the shared base behind the storage screens of backpack and storage mods. The sources here show no items to craft from it directly, so your first steps are about learning the screen and settings you get once you hold a backpack or storage block from a mod that uses it.[2]
Unverified The sources here show no recipes or quests in this pack for Sophisticated Core, so there is no confirmed crafting order to give you. For what to craft first, look at the quest book and recipes of the storage mods that build on it.
What to do first
- Hover over a backpack or storage item. An empty one reads "No Upgrades or Inventory Contents". Once it holds something, the tooltip tells you which key to press to view the contents and shows its Stack Size Multiplier.[2]
- Open the settings and look at the player level settings. They apply to all your backpacks and storages unless a specific one overrides them, so set your habits here once.[2]
- Decide whether the screen should keep your search phrase. When it is on, the search is prefilled and filtered when you reopen the screen. When it is off, the phrase clears on close and everything is shown again.[2]
- Decide whether to keep the upgrade tab open. When it is on, the screen remembers the last open upgrade tab and reopens it next time. When it is off, all tabs start closed.[2]
- Choose how shift click behaves. When the option is on, shift click tries an open upgrade tab first and then the inventory or storage. When it is off, it tries the inventory or storage first and only then an open tab.[2]
Slot settings worth knowing
- Slot Memory Settings let you pick slots that remember their contents and only accept matching stacks. Left click or drag selects a slot, right click or drag unselects it.[2]
- No Sort Slot Settings let you pick slots that sorting ignores, using the same click and drag controls plus select all and unselect all buttons.[2]
- Item Display Settings let you pick a slot whose item is shown on top of the storage.[2]
The mod also has an enabled items option that comes prefilled with all supported items. Its tooltip says you change true to false to disable one, in the format item_id|true_or_false.[2]
How does Sophisticated Core work?
5 parts
Sophisticated Core is the shared library behind the storage-style mods in the pack. It has no machines or multiblocks of its own. What it provides is the storage screen and its settings: upgrade tabs, search, sorting and slot rules. The sources for this pack only explain those interface-level systems, so that's what this section covers.[3]
Player-level settings
The settings screen has a player-level context. Settings made there apply to all your backpacks and storages unless an individual one overrides them. So you can set your preferences once and only tweak the odd storage that needs something different.[3]
Search, tabs and shift-click
Three toggles control how the storage screen behaves when you open and close it.[3]
- Keep search phrase: when off, the screen clears the search phrase on close and shows all items unfiltered the next time you open it. When on, it keeps the phrase, prefills it and filters by it when you reopen.[3]
- Keep tab open: when off, the open upgrade tab is closed along with the screen, and every tab starts closed next time. When on, the storage records which upgrade tab was last open and reopens it.[3]
- Shift-click open tab: when on, shift-clicking a stack from storage or inventory tries an open tab first, then the inventory or storage. When off, it tries the inventory or storage first, then an open tab.[3]
Slot settings
Three slot-level tools let you shape how a storage's inventory behaves. In each one you select slots with left click or drag and unselect them with right click or drag.[3]
- Item display: pick a slot whose item is shown on top of the storage.[3]
- Slot memory: pick slots that remember their contents and only accept matching stacks. This tool has select-all and unselect-all buttons, and you open its tab to change slot settings.[3]
- No sort: pick slots that sorting ignores. It has the same select-all and unselect-all buttons, and you also open its tab to modify slots.[3]
The settings screen also has an export-template button. Its description says it creates a data pack with an snbt file. The sources don't explain what the template contains or how to use it.[3]
Upgrade settings screens
The core supplies settings screens for several upgrades: Advanced Compacting, Advanced Feeding, Advanced Filter, Advanced Magnet, Advanced Pickup and Advanced Void. There is also a Botanist's Workbench screen for the Chipped integration. The tank upgrade shows its contents as XP levels out of its capacity, and has a control for the level at which the pump stops.[3]
Storage item tooltips show a Stack Size Multiplier. If a storage has no upgrades or contents, its tooltip says so. Otherwise it prompts you to press a key to view the contents.[3]
Pack configuration
The pack sets the client option client.playButtonSound to true, so a click sound plays when you press custom buttons in the GUI.[4]
The option client.sortButtonsPosition is set to TITLE_LINE_RIGHT in the pack. The other allowed values are BELOW_UPGRADES, BELOW_UPGRADE_TABS and HIDDEN. It exists so you can move the sort buttons if they clash with controls from other mods.[4]
On the common side, common.enabledItems is where items can be disabled or enabled, which also disables their recipes. The pack leaves it as an empty list.[5]
Unverified The sources for this pack don't describe power, fluid or item automation, or any multiblock behavior for Sophisticated Core, so none of that is covered here.
Which Sophisticated Core config options matter?
2 parts
Sophisticated Core has only a few options in this pack, and they cover the interface and item toggles. Here is exactly how the pack sets each one.[4][5]
Client options
- client.sortButtonsPosition is set to "TITLE_LINE_RIGHT". It controls where the sort buttons appear, so you can avoid clashes with controls from other mods. The allowed values are TITLE_LINE_RIGHT, BELOW_UPGRADES, BELOW_UPGRADE_TABS and HIDDEN.[4]
- client.playButtonSound is set to true. This means a click sound plays when you press the custom buttons in the GUI. Set it to false if you want them silent.[4]
Common options
common.enabledItems is set to an empty list in this pack. The option is described as the place to disable or enable items, and it disables their recipes.[5]
Unverified It is not confirmed whether the pack's empty list differs from the mod's default, or exactly how an empty list is treated. No default values were available to compare, so none of the values above can be called pack changes.
