What is Simple Weather?

Simple Weather is part of the pack. This pack ships version 1.0.13 of the mod (simple_weather-1.0.13.jar), and it has been in the pack since version 0.32 or earlier.[1]

Unverified I couldn't confirm what the mod does in practice from the sources I have. There is no in-jar guidebook, no platform description and no config or recipe data for it, so I'm not going to guess at its features, who it suits or its settings.

Unverified Progression: the mod doesn't appear on the ATM Star quest path, and no quests in this pack involve it. Nothing I have shows it gating or unlocking any progression, so treat it as a background mod rather than a milestone.

How do you get started with Simple Weather?

3 parts

Simple Weather is about how weather looks on your screen, and the only thing the sources here show for it is its settings text. So your first steps in this pack are about knowing which options exist, not about crafting anything.[2]

The option names sit under a client config group, so they are client-side settings. They split into a rain group, a snow group and a few general options.[2]

General options

  • Override Weather, shown with the label "Enabled".[2]
  • Particle Count, for the number of weather particles.[2]
  • Particle Count in Thunderstorm, a separate count for thunderstorms.[2]

Rain Settings

  • Range, Lifespan, Scale and Alpha for the rain particles.[2]
  • Turbulence, Collision Particles Chance and Color Blending Frequency.[2]
  • Full Biome Lookup and Calculate AABB.[2]

Snow Settings

  • Range and Outer Range for the snow particles.[2]
  • Lifespan, Scale and Alpha, which also appear in the rain group.[2]

If you want to adjust the weather visuals, those are the names to look for on the settings screen in game.[2]

Unverified What each option does in detail, its default value and the values this pack uses are not shown in the sources here, and neither is the config file that holds them.

How does Simple Weather work?

4 parts

Simple Weather doesn't add machines, multiblocks or anything that handles power, fluids or items, at least nothing the sources show. All they describe is a set of client settings for how weather looks, so there's nothing here to automate.[2]

What the settings cover

The mod's language file lists an on/off setting labelled "Enabled" under an override weather option. It also has separate groups for rain and snow, plus particle count options for weather in general. They all sit under the client section of the config, so they affect what you see on your own screen.[2]

Rain settings

  • Full Biome Lookup, Calculate AABB and Color Blending Frequency are labelled in the rain group.[2]
  • Look and feel options: Alpha, Scale, Lifespan and Turbulence.[2]
  • Range and Collision Particles Chance are also in the rain group.[2]

Snow settings

  • Snow has its own Alpha, Scale and Lifespan options.[2]
  • It also has Range and Outer Range options.[2]

Particle counts

Particle Count is the general option for how many weather particles show up. Particle Count in Thunderstorm is a separate option for thunderstorms.[2]

Unverified The sources only give option names. The pack's default values, valid ranges, and exactly what each option does are not shown here, and no config file for this mod is available to check.
