What is Luminax?

3 parts

Luminax is a small decoration mod that adds a handful of simple, single-colored glowing blocks. If you build bases and want clean, bright blocks without a big mod behind them, this is for you.[1]

What you get

Why it's in the pack

Luminax was made to replace Antiblocks in this pack. It's similar to AntiblocksReChiseled, but it isn't a fork or copy of it, because the author says it's 100% original code. It can also be used freely in other packs.[1]

This pack includes Luminax 1.3.1 for NeoForge 1.21.1. The mod was first included in version 2.25 or earlier of the pack line, so it's a long-standing part of the decoration set. It's released under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 or later.[1][2]

Where it fits in progression

Luminax is purely a building and decoration mod. The sources describe only blocks, with no machines, resources or other mechanics that would gate progression. You can use it whenever you like.[1]

Unverified The sources don't show any quests for Luminax or a place for it on the ATM Star path, so treat it as an optional building mod rather than a progression step.

How do you get started with Luminax?

2 parts

Luminax is a simple mod: it adds single-colored glowing blocks. The full block comes with a slab, stair, wall, pressure plate and button. Everything here is about picking a color and crafting it into the shapes you need.[1]

First, make a full block

Everything starts with the full block of your chosen color, for example Black Luminax Block or Blue Luminax Block. The other shapes are crafted from it, so make this first. Here is the in-pack recipe, with black as the example.[3]

Crafting Shaped

Crafting Shaped

The color of the dye you use decides the color of the block.

The pack also has Dim versions of the colors, like Dim Black Luminax Block. They have their own separate block recipe, shown below, so check which one you're crafting.[3]

Crafting Shaped

Crafting Shaped

Recipe id: luminax:dim_black_luminax_block

This is the Dim recipe, which is different from the regular block recipe above.

Then craft the other shapes

Once you have a full block, each other shape is crafted from that same block. For the black color that gives you the following:[3]

Crafting Shaped

6 × Black Luminax Block

Recipe id: luminax:black_luminax_stairs

Stairs as an example. The recipe list shows the other colors, Dim ones included, following the same pattern.

Tip: Craft a full block of each color you like first, then turn it into slabs, stairs and walls as your build needs them. Every shape starts from the block.[3]

How does Luminax work?

2 parts

Here's the honest rundown: Luminax doesn't have machines, multiblocks, power, fluids or automation. It's a decorative mod made of simple single-colored glowing blocks, so there's no system to learn beyond crafting. It was made to replace Antiblocks in this pack, and it's described as original code, not a fork or copy of AntiblocksReChiseled.[1]

What the mod adds

The mod's project page lists these block types: a full block, a slab, a stair, a wall, a pressure plate and a button. The pack's recipes give Black, Blue, Brown and Cyan each their own set, for example Black Luminax Block, Black Luminax Slab, Black Luminax Stairs, Black Luminax Wall, Black Luminax Pressure Plate and Black Luminax Button.[1][3]

The pack also has Dim variants of the colors, such as Dim Black Luminax Block and Dim Blue Luminax Block. Dim Black comes with the same shapes as the regular colors.[3]

How crafting works

Everything starts with the full block. A regular colored block is crafted with a dye of the matching color, and the Dim version uses a different recipe. Here are the Black and Dim Black versions side by side so you can see the difference:[3]

Recipe id: luminax:dim_black_luminax_block

Every other shape is made from the matching full block. Slabs, stairs, walls and pressure plates use shaped crafting, while the button is shapeless. Here are the Black examples:[3]

Crafting Shapeless

Recipe id: luminax:black_luminax_button

Tip: The other colors, like Blue, Brown and Cyan, follow the same pattern, so once you know one set you know them all. Craft the full block first, then turn it into whatever shape you need.[3]

Unverified No config files for this mod were found in the pack, so the sources here do not show any configurable options for Luminax.

How do you progress through Luminax?

2 parts

The recipes in the pack data for Luminax only cover colored blocks and the building pieces made from them: buttons, pressure plates, slabs, stairs and walls. So progression here is short: you make a colored block, then craft the other pieces from it.[3]

Unverified The sources here show no quests that involve Luminax, and the mod is not on the ATM Star quest path. There is also no in-jar guidebook to check, so any further progression is not shown here.

First, the colored blocks

Everything starts with a colored block. Luminax comes in a regular family and a Dim family, and the dye you use decides the color. The Dim family uses a different base recipe from the regular one, so check both recipes below. Here is Black Luminax Block next to its Dim counterpart, Dim Black Luminax Block, as an example.[3]

The visible recipes cover black, blue, brown and cyan in the regular family. In the Dim family they cover black, blue, brown, cyan, gray, green, light blue, light gray, lime and magenta. The recipe list given to me is cut off, so the full set of colors for either family is unverified.[3]

Then, the building pieces

Once you have a colored block, every other piece is crafted straight from that same block. The pattern is the same for every color I can see, in both families.[3]

Crafting Shaped

6 × Blue Luminax Block

Recipe id: luminax:blue_luminax_stairs

Same pattern for every color I can see: the colored block goes in, the building piece comes out.

Tip: Make the colored block first, then craft slabs, stairs, walls, buttons and plates from it as you need them. Dim blocks use a different recipe from the regular ones, so don't assume they share ingredients.[3]

Which All the Mods 10 quests use Luminax?

3 parts

Luminax has one quest in the pack, and it sits in the "Building Tips" chapter, which has 91 quests in total. The chapter is a tour of building and decoration mods rather than a progression line.[4]

Where it sits in the chapter

  1. "Building Tips!" quest opens the chapter with tips for building.[4]
  2. "Blocks!" quest comes after it and asks you to get a block, any block.[4]
  3. "Colored Blocks" quest comes after Blocks!. It is about adding color to your builds, and it tells you to start with the dyes.[4]
  4. "Luminax" quest comes after Colored Blocks. It is the Luminax quest.[4]

What the Luminax quest says

The quest calls Luminax a very simple mod: if you like colored lights, you can have colored lights. Each light is a single color with no texturing. They come in shapes like stairs, slabs and even pressure plates. The quest also says they work with Dyenamics.[4]

The quest is an item task, and the quest book does not name a specific item for it. You can check in-game which item it accepts.[4]

Neighbouring quests

Luminax is one of several quests that branch off Colored Blocks. The others are "Painted Planks" quest, "Chipped Concrete" quest, "XyCraft World" quest, "Plastic Construction Bricks" quest, "Railcraft Colored Blocks" quest, "Chipped Wool" quest, "Dyenamics" quest and "Chipped Terracotta" quest. Since Luminax lights work with Dyenamics, "Dyenamics" quest is a good one to read next. It is about 18 extra dyes.[4]

What changed in Luminax between versions?

Here's how Luminax has moved through the pack's releases. The pack changelogs only record version bumps, so you get the version jumps but not what changed inside each one.[5][6][7]

Luminax was already in the pack by All the Mods 10 2.25 or earlier. The current pack, All the Mods 10 8.1, ships Luminax 1.3.1 for NeoForge 1.21.1.[2]

  • All the Mods 10 2.31: updated Luminax from 1.2.1 to 1.2.2.[7]
  • All the Mods 10 2.47: updated Luminax from 1.2.2 to 1.3.0.[6]
  • All the Mods 10 4.11: updated Luminax from 1.3.0 to 1.3.1.[5]

Unverified What actually changed in each Luminax version (new features, fixes, or balance tweaks) is unconfirmed. The pack changelogs only list the version numbers, and no changelogs are stored for the shipped jars.
