What is Luminax?

1 part

Luminax is a small decoration mod that adds simple glowing blocks to the game. If you've ever wanted clean, single-colored light blocks for a build without messing around with torches or lamps, this is the mod for you.[1]

The mod was built as a replacement for Antiblocks, and it can be freely used in any pack. If you know AntiblocksReChiseled, Luminax will feel familiar, but it isn't a fork or copy. It's completely original code.[1]

What you get

Each glowing block comes in several shapes, so you can use it across a whole build and not just as full cubes:[1]

This pack includes Luminax version 1.2.2 for NeoForge 1.21.1, so everything in this guide refers to that version.[2]

Unverified Luminax doesn't seem to be part of this pack's progression. No quests use it and it isn't on the ATM Star path, so treat it as a decoration mod for your builds rather than a step you need to complete.

How do you get started with Luminax?

3 parts

Luminax is one of the simplest mods in the pack, and that's a good thing. It adds single-colored glowing blocks for decorating your builds. There's no machinery, progression or power to worry about, so you can start using it as soon as you want to light up a base in a clean, solid color.[1]

If you've used Antiblocks or AntiblocksReChiseled in other packs, this will feel familiar. Luminax was made as a replacement for Antiblocks. It's its own original code, not a fork or copy.[1]

Step 1: Craft a full block in your color

Everything in Luminax starts with the full block. Every slab, stair, wall, pressure plate and button in this pack is crafted from the full block of the same color, so pick your color and make a stack of full blocks first.[1][3]

Each color has its own full block. The colors include luminax:amber_block, luminax:aquamarine_block, luminax:black_block, luminax:blue_block, luminax:brown_block, luminax:bubblegum_block, luminax:cherenkov_block, luminax:conifer_block and luminax:cyan_block. They are all crafted the same way, with only the dye changing, so once you know one recipe you know them all.[3]

Every color follows this pattern with its own dye.

Step 2: Decide if you want a Dim version

Each color also has a Dim variant, like luminax:dim_amber_block, luminax:dim_aquamarine_block, luminax:dim_black_block and luminax:dim_blue_block. Dim blocks use a different recipe from the regular blocks, so check which one you need before you gather materials.[3]

Unverified The sources don't say how bright Dim blocks are compared to the regular blocks. They also don't say where the dyes for the non-vanilla colors, such as Amber, Bubblegum or Cherenkov, come from in this pack. Check your recipe viewer to see which items it accepts. This site does hold All the Mods 10's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.

Step 3: Turn blocks into shapes

Once you have full blocks, you can make every other shape from them. That gives you matching trim, floors and redstone parts in the same color.[1][3]

  1. Slabs, like luminax:amber_slab, are great for thin light strips in floors and ceilings.[1][3]
  2. Stairs, like luminax:amber_stairs, let you add glowing accents to roofs and staircases.[1][3]
  3. Walls, like luminax:amber_wall, work well as glowing fences or pillars.[1][3]
  4. Pressure plates, like luminax:amber_pressure_plate, and buttons, like luminax:amber_button, let you add redstone controls that match your color scheme.[1][3]

The button is a shapeless recipe, so the block can go in any slot.

Tip: Dim blocks have their own shapes too, such as luminax:dim_amber_slab and luminax:dim_amber_button. Those are crafted from the Dim full block, not the regular one, so craft the right base block first.[3]

How does Luminax work?

2 parts

Here's the good news: Luminax is a purely decorative mod, so there are no machines, multiblocks, power, fluids or item logistics to learn. It adds simple single-colored glowing blocks, and it was made to replace Antiblocks in All the Mods 10.[1]

Luminax is similar to AntiblocksReChiseled, but it is not a fork or copy. It's written from scratch.[1]

One color, six shapes

Every color comes in the same set of shapes.[1]

Colors in this pack include Amber, Aquamarine, Black, Blue, Brown, Bubblegum and Cherenkov. For example, you'll find luminax:amber_block, luminax:aquamarine_block and luminax:cherenkov_block.[3]

How the crafting chain works

Each color starts with its full block, which you craft with a shaped recipe. Every color's block recipe asks for a dye of that specific color, so for a new color you'll need its matching dye.[3]

The full block is the starting point for every Amber piece.

Once you have the full block, you craft all the other shapes of that color from it. The slab, stairs, wall and pressure plate each use a shaped recipe that takes only the full block, for example luminax:amber_slab and luminax:amber_stairs.[3]

Buttons are the exception. They use a shapeless recipe, so you can drop the full block anywhere in the crafting grid to get something like luminax:amber_button.[3]

Tip: Every color follows exactly the same pattern. Once you've made one set, like the Blue pieces from luminax:blue_block, you already know how to make every other color.[3]

The recipes for the blocks shown here are marked as the mod's own recipes, not recipes the pack changed.[3]

Unverified How bright these blocks glow, and whether the pressure plates and buttons send redstone signals exactly like vanilla ones, can't be confirmed from the available sources.

How do you progress through Luminax?

4 parts

Luminax doesn't have machines or gated tiers. Every Luminax recipe in this pack is a normal crafting table recipe, and they're the mod's own recipes, so nothing here has been changed by the pack. Progression works in two steps: craft a base block in the colour you want, then turn that block into building shapes.[3]

Step one: the base block

Each colour starts with a base block, such as luminax:amber_block. The recipe asks for the matching colour of dye through a dye tag, so any dye counted as that colour in the pack will work. You don't need one specific dye item.[3]

Every regular colour block uses this same pattern with its own dye.

Regular and Dim versions

Every colour also has a Dim version, such as luminax:dim_amber_block. It has its own recipe that uses the same colour's dye tag but one different ingredient. Put the two recipes side by side and you'll see exactly what changes.[3]

Step two: shapes from the block

Once you have a base block, you can craft it into these shapes. Each one is made only from blocks of the same colour.[3]

  • Slabs, like luminax:amber_slab.[3]
  • Stairs, like luminax:amber_stairs.[3]
  • Walls, like luminax:amber_wall.[3]
  • Pressure plates, like luminax:amber_pressure_plate.[3]
  • Buttons, like luminax:amber_button. This is a shapeless recipe, so the block can go anywhere in the grid.[3]

Crafting Shapeless

Dim blocks work exactly the same way. For example, luminax:dim_amber_block crafts into luminax:dim_amber_slab, luminax:dim_amber_stairs, luminax:dim_amber_wall, luminax:dim_amber_pressure_plate and luminax:dim_amber_button. Shapes can't mix colours or mix regular and Dim blocks, so craft plenty of the right base block before you start a build.[3]

Tip: Decide on your palette before you gather materials. Each shape needs the base block of its own colour and version, so you can't craft a Dim slab from regular blocks or a blue wall from cyan blocks.[3]

Colours in the pack

The colours in the recipe list include the familiar black, blue, brown and cyan. They also include some unusual ones: luminax:amber_block, luminax:aquamarine_block, luminax:bubblegum_block, luminax:cherenkov_block and luminax:conifer_block. Each has its own dye tag, and each comes in both regular and Dim versions.[3]

Unverified The sources don't show which items count as amber, aquamarine, bubblegum, cherenkov or conifer dye in this pack, and they don't show every colour Luminax adds. They also don't show how many items each recipe makes or how bright the regular and Dim blocks are. Check the recipe viewer in-game for these details. This site does hold All the Mods 10's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.

What changed in Luminax between versions?

1 part

Luminax has been part of All the Mods 10 for a long time: it was first included in version 2.12 or earlier, and it's still in the pack as of 2.44.[2]

Releases

  • All the Mods 10 2.31: Luminax was updated from 1.2.1 to 1.2.2.[4]
  • All the Mods 10 2.44: the pack ships Luminax 1.2.2 (file luminax-1.2.2_neoforge_1.21.1.jar), so it hasn't been updated since 2.31.[2][4]

Unverified The changes between Luminax 1.2.1 and 1.2.2, such as new features, fixes or balance tweaks, can't be confirmed because no changelog for the mod itself is available. The Luminax version before 2.31 and when it first reached 1.2.1 are also unconfirmed.
