What is Cooking for Blockheads?
2 parts
This pack includes Cooking for Blockheads at version 21.1.16, and it has been in the pack since All the Mods 10 2.2 or earlier. The pack's quest book keeps most of the mod's items together in the food and farming chapter.[1][2]
Where it fits in the quest book
The chain starts with a quest in "?", which asks for Cooking for Blockheads I. Next comes a quest in "?" for Cooking for Blockheads II, and then a quest in "?" for the Cooking Table.[2]
After the Cooking Table quest, the chapter branches. These quests all come directly after it:[2]
- Sink in a quest in "?"[2]
- Ice Unit in a quest in "?"[2]
- Heating Unit in a quest in "?"[2]
- Oven in a quest in "?"[2]
- Kitchen Counter in a quest in "?"[2]
- Cow in a Jar in a quest in "?"[2]
- Kitchen Cabinet in a quest in "?"[2]
The Sink in other chapters
The Sink also shows up as a quest task in other chapters: Forbidden Arcanus (a quest in "?"), Mekanism reactors (a quest in "?") and tips and tricks (a quest in "?"). The Forbidden Arcanus and Mekanism reactors quests each come after another quest, while the tips and tricks one has no prerequisite listed.[3][4][5]
Unverified The sources here do not show whether the ATM Star path uses this mod. That detail lives in the pack's quest book.
How do you get started with Cooking for Blockheads?
4 parts
Cooking for Blockheads turns your kitchen into one connected crafting station. In this pack the quest book walks you through it in a clear order, and it's the order I'd follow too. Each step below builds on the one before it.[2]
The recipe book
Start with Cooking for Blockheads I. It's the first quest in the food and farming chapter (a quest in "?"), and its tooltip says it lets you "See food you can make right now." In this pack it's made by smelting, not by crafting.[2][6][7]
Upgrade it
The next quest is Cooking for Blockheads II (a quest in "?"). It's an upgrade of the first book, and its tooltip reads: "Craft food with what you have available."[2][6][7]

The cooking table
The Cooking Table (a quest in "?") is the key block. Its tooltip reads: "Enables crafting abilities." Its recipe uses the upgraded book, and every other kitchen quest in the chapter comes after this one.[2][6][7]

Build out the kitchen
Once you have the table, the chapter opens up and you can tackle these in any order. Here's what the tooltip says about each one.[2][7]
- Sink (a quest in "?"): the tooltip reads "Provides water to recipes." It also shows up as a quest in a few other chapters of the quest book.[2][3][4][5][7]
- Oven (a quest in "?"): the tooltip reads "Enables smelting abilities."[2][7]
- Kitchen Counter (a quest in "?"): the tooltip reads "Stores ingredients for recipes."[2][7]
- Kitchen Cabinet (a quest in "?") can be placed on the wall above kitchen blocks.[2][7]
- Ice Unit (a quest in "?"): the tooltip reads "Provides snow and ice to recipes."[2][7]
- Heating Unit (a quest in "?"): the tooltip reads "Allows to heat an oven using energy."[2][7]
- Cow in a Jar (a quest in "?"): the tooltip reads "Slowly produces milk for recipes."[2][7]

How does Cooking for Blockheads work?
5 parts
Cooking for Blockheads works around a set of kitchen blocks, and each one has a tooltip that says what it does. This section sticks to what those tooltips and the pack's recipes show.[6][7]
The recipe books
The tooltip for Cooking for Blockheads I says it lets you see food you can make right now. The tooltip for Cooking for Blockheads II says it lets you craft food with what you have available.[6][7]
In this pack, the second book is an upgrade of the first. Its recipe uses the first book as a base.[6]

Crafting and cooking through the book
The tooltips explain the controls. Click again to craft, and Shift-Click to craft a stack or to cook a stack. Right-Click locks or unlocks an item, and scrolling selects an item. There is also a sort option for the hunger a food restores.[7]
When a recipe can't be made, the tooltips list the possible reasons: missing ingredients, missing tools or a missing oven.[7]
Kitchen blocks and what they provide
Each kitchen block has a tooltip describing its role. The Cooking Table tooltip says it enables crafting abilities, and the oven tooltip says it enables smelting abilities. The Cutting Board tooltip says it provides a cutting board for recipes.[6][7]
- The tooltips for Kitchen Counter and the fridge say they store ingredients for recipes. The cabinet tooltip says it can be placed on the wall above kitchen blocks.[6][7]
- The sink tooltip says it provides water to recipes.[7]
- The milk jar tooltip says it provides milk to recipes. The cow jar tooltip says it slowly produces milk for recipes.[7]
- The ice unit tooltip says it provides snow and ice to recipes.[7]
- The tool rack tooltip says it provides tools to recipes. The spice rack stores spices and ingredients, and the fruit basket stores fruits.[7]
- The preservation chamber tooltip says it prevents the last item of a slot from being used up.[7]
- The toaster tooltip says it magically turns bread into toast.[7]
The tooltips also describe how the oven can be heated. The heating unit tooltip says it allows an oven to be heated using energy, and a tooltip shows stored energy as a current/maximum pair. The sources don't give a capacity or an energy-per-cook figure, so there are no numbers to share there.[7]

Connecting the kitchen
The tooltip for Kitchen Connector says it connects kitchen blocks over corners. The tooltip for the kitchen floor, Kitchen Floor, says it connects kitchen blocks over distances, so your storage doesn't have to sit right next to your cooking table.[6][7]

Kitchen floors come in other colors, such as Black Kitchen Floor, Blue Kitchen Floor, Brown Kitchen Floor and Cyan Kitchen Floor.[6]

The other floor colors follow the same pattern with a different dye.
Other kitchen blocks can be recolored too. The pack has shapeless dye recipes for cabinets, connectors, cooking tables, counters, fridges, ovens and sinks. Black, blue and brown versions are confirmed in the sources.[6]

Automation and tuning options
The mod has options that affect automation and balance. One lets a pack disallow oven automation, so pipes and similar tools can't insert or extract. Others change oven cook time, oven fuel time, and whether the oven only accepts cooking oil, which requires Pam's Harvestcraft. A further option gives kitchen counters twice as much inventory space.[7]
For fluids, the sink tooltip says it provides water to recipes. An option can make it require piped-in water instead of providing an infinite supply. The cow jar has its own options for whether you can make one by dropping an anvil on a cow, and for how much milk it produces per tick.[7]
Unverified No config files for this mod were available for this pack, so the actual values of these options are unconfirmed. That includes whether oven automation is allowed, whether large counters are on, the oven multipliers, and whether the sink needs piped water. The sources also don't explain how pipes or other mods interact with the fridge, counters or cabinets.
How do you progress through Cooking for Blockheads?
4 parts
In this pack, Cooking for Blockheads progression is a quest chain in the Food and Farming chapter. You start with a recipe book, upgrade it, build a Cooking Table, and then unlock the kitchen blocks around it.[2]
Step 1: The books
The chain starts with a quest in "?", which asks you to get Cooking for Blockheads I. This one is made by smelting, not crafting.[2][6]
a quest in "?" comes next and asks for Cooking for Blockheads II, the upgraded book. Its recipe uses the first book, so you can't skip a step.[2][6]

There is also a smelting recipe that turns Cooking for Blockheads into the first book. Use it if you end up with that item.[6]
Step 2: The Cooking Table
a quest in "?" asks for the Cooking Table. Its recipe consumes the upgraded book, so make that book first. This quest is the hub of the chapter: every kitchen quest after it requires it.[2][6]

Step 3: Build out the kitchen
Once the Cooking Table quest is done, all of these quests open up at the same time, so you can do them in any order:[2]
- a quest in "?": the Sink.[2]
- a quest in "?": the Ice Unit.[2]
- a quest in "?": the Heating Unit.[2]
- a quest in "?": the Oven.[2]
- a quest in "?": the Kitchen Counter.[2]
- a quest in "?": the Kitchen Cabinet.[2]
- a quest in "?": the Cow in a Jar.[2]

Colors and extras
Beyond the quest chain, you can dye cabinets, cooking tables, counters, sinks, ovens, fridges and connectors, with a dye recipe for each color. Colored kitchen floors are made from the base Kitchen Floor plus a dye. Bone meal removes the dye from cabinets, cooking tables, counters and sinks. These are cosmetic and not part of the quests listed above.[6]
The Cutting Board and the Kitchen Connector also have recipes in the pack, but no quest in the sources asks for them.[2][6]
How does Cooking for Blockheads work with other mods?
3 parts
In this pack, Cooking for Blockheads connects to other mods mainly through recipes the pack added itself. Some turn the Kitchen Floor into dyed variants, and many let you make a Fruit Basket from modded logs. The Sink also shows up as a task in a few quest chapters that aren't about cooking.[3][4][5][6]
Dyed Kitchen Floors
The pack adds crafting recipes that turn the Kitchen Floor into coloured variants. Each recipe takes the Kitchen Floor plus a dye from a matching dye tag. Examples are Amber Kitchen Floor, Mint Kitchen Floor and Wine Kitchen Floor.[6]

Every colour follows the same pattern, only the dye changes.
Fruit Baskets from modded wood
The pack also adds sawmill woodcutting recipes that make a Fruit Basket from logs. Each recipe covers one tree type: its log, wood, stripped log and stripped wood all give a Fruit Basket. That means you can use wood from many different mods and don't need a specific tree.[6]

Key Lime wood is one example of a tree type that gives a Fruit Basket.
The recipes cover trees from many mods. Here are some examples:[6]
- Fruit trees such as Banana Log, Mango Log, Orange Log and Plum Log.[6]
- Woods such as Baobab Log, Palm Log and Cypress Log. Bioshroom stems and hyphae work too, for example Green Bioshroom Stem.[6]
- Woods such as Sakura Log, Redwood Log and Rainbow Eucalyptus Log.[6]
- Woods such as Canopy Tree Log, Mangrove Log, Timewood Log and Twilight Oak Log.[6]
- Grongle Log and Wigglewood Log.[6]
- Scarlet Log.[6]
The Sink in other quest chapters
The Sink is the task of several quests outside the food chapter. Quest a quest in "?" is in the Forbidden Arcanus chapter and quest a quest in "?" is in the Mekanism reactors chapter. Quest a quest in "?" is in the Tips and Tricks chapter and has no prerequisite quest.[3][4][5]
Which All the Mods 10 quests use Cooking for Blockheads?
2 parts
Cooking for Blockheads appears in several quest chapters. The main one is Food and Farming, where every quest asks you to have a single item from the mod. The quests have no titles, so I'm referring to them by their ids.[2][3][4][5]
Food and Farming chapter
This chapter holds a whole chain for the mod. It starts with a quest in "?", which asks for Cooking for Blockheads I. Next comes a quest in "?", which asks for Cooking for Blockheads II.[2]
After that you reach a quest in "?", which asks for the Cooking Table. This quest is the hub of the chapter, because all the remaining quests for the mod unlock after it.[2]
- a quest in "?" asks for the Sink.[2]
- a quest in "?" asks for the Ice Unit.[2]
- a quest in "?" asks for the Heating Unit.[2]
- a quest in "?" asks for the Oven.[2]
- a quest in "?" asks for the Kitchen Counter.[2]
- a quest in "?" asks for the Cow in a Jar.[2]
- a quest in "?" asks for the Kitchen Cabinet.[2]
These quests all depend on the same Cooking Table quest, so once it's done you can take them in any order.[2]
Sink quests in other chapters
The Sink also turns up as a task in other chapters. In each one it's a single quest.[3][4][5]
- In the Forbidden Arcanus chapter, a quest in "?" asks for the Sink. It unlocks after another quest in that chapter.[3]
- In the Mekanism Reactors chapter, a quest in "?" asks for the Sink. It also unlocks after another quest in that chapter.[4]
- In the Tips and Tricks chapter, a quest in "?" asks for the Sink. It has no prerequisite listed, so you can do it whenever you like.[5]
