What is Ars Elemancy?

Ars Elemancy is included in this pack as version 1.12, specifically the file ars_elemancy-1.21.1-1.12.4.jar. If you're checking whether your own setup matches the pack, that file name is the one to look for.[1]

Unverified The sources available for this section don't describe what Ars Elemancy adds, who it's aimed at, or where it fits in the pack's progression, so those details are left out here rather than guessed.

How do you get started with Ars Elemancy?

5 parts

Ars Elemancy is about merging two elements into one. Nearly every item it adds is an upgrade of gear you already own, so you'll want some elemental gear and spell foci before you start. The Cinder line (Fire plus Air) is the easiest one to follow step by step, so this guide uses it as the example path.[2]

Step 1: Cinder Essence

Start with Cinder Essence. It's made by imbuement, and every other Cinder item in this section needs it, so make a few.[2]

Step 2: Focus of Cinder

If you cast Fire or Air spells, the Focus of Cinder is a great first upgrade. It amplifies Fire and Air school glyphs and makes them cheaper, and it can empower some glyphs with new effects. You craft it in the Enchanting Apparatus.[2][3]

Step 3: Cinder Bangle

Next, upgrade your bangles into a Cinder Bangle. Hold on to it, because it's one of the pieces you can use later for the endgame Elemancer Bangle.[2]

A second recipe id with the same inputs also exists.

Step 4: Cinder armor

Once your essence supply is steady, upgrade your armor one piece at a time. The Cinder armor absorbs some fire- and air-related damage and converts it into mana. It also clears fire from you instantly and greatly reduces fall damage. Hold the key shown in the tooltip to see the full set info in game.[3]

There are three Cinder armor lines. Each one is upgraded from the matching gear you already have:[2]

Tip: Make the Cindermancer Boots even if you skip the rest of that line. They're one of the options for crafting the endgame Elemancer Boots.[2]

Where this leads

The long-term goal is Elemancer gear, which is crafted with an Elemancer Shard and two dual-element pieces. For the bangle, you can use Lava and Tempest, Cinder and Mire, or Silt and Vapor. Elemancer armor absorbs element-related damage into mana and has all the effects of the lesser elemental armor.[2][3]

How does Ars Elemancy work?

4 parts

Ars Elemancy is all about fusion. It takes elemental magic gear built around single schools and combines two elements into one dual-element piece: a focus, a bangle, or armor. The Cinder line (Fire plus Air) is the clearest example in this pack, so this section uses it to show how everything fits together.[2][3]

Step one: dual-element essences

Every fusion starts with a combined essence. Cinder Essence is made with an Ars Nouveau imbuement recipe, and it then goes into every Cinder item in the mod: the focus, the bangle and each armor piece.[2]

Step two: fusing a focus

Foci are crafted on the Ars Nouveau Enchanting Apparatus. You merge a Fire focus and an Air focus with the essence to get Focus of Cinder.[2]

Focus of CinderMod recipe

Enchanting Apparatus (ars_nouveau)

Recipe id: ars_elemancy:cinder_focus

A dual focus is attuned to a specific element and empowers some glyphs with new effects. It also amplifies and discounts glyphs from both of its schools, so a single focus covers two schools of spells.[3]

  • Cinder: amplifies and discounts Fire and Air glyphs.[3]
  • Lava: amplifies and discounts Fire and Earth glyphs.[3]
  • Mire: amplifies and discounts Water and Earth glyphs.[3]
  • Silt: amplifies and discounts Earth and Air glyphs.[3]
  • Tempest: amplifies and discounts Water and Air glyphs.[3]
  • Vapor: amplifies and discounts Fire and Water glyphs.[3]
  • Elemental: amplifies and discounts glyphs of all 4 schools.[3]
Tip: Focus tooltips have more detail tucked away. Hold the key shown in the tooltip to see the extra focus info in-game.[3]

Step three: upgrading bangles and armor

Bangles and armor use armor upgrade recipes instead of the apparatus. Each one takes a matching piece from each of the two elements, plus the essence and a mastery item, and turns them into a single dual-element piece. For example, Cinder Bangle comes from fusing an Air bangle with a Fire bangle.[2]

Cinder BangleMod recipe

Armor Upgrade (ars_elemancy)

Recipe id: ars_elemancy:cinder_bangle_1

Armor comes in several weights and each keeps its own line through the upgrade. Mage-style pieces become Cindermancer Hat, Cindermancer Leggings and Cindermancer Boots. Heavy pieces become Ashguard's Helmet, Ashguard's Chestplate, Ashguard's Leggings and Ashguard's Boots. Hoods upgrade into Phoenix's Hood. Always use the same weight from both elements: heavy plus heavy, mage plus mage.[2]

In this pack most Cinder pieces have two recipe entries with the same listed inputs, so you may see duplicates when you look up a recipe in JEI or EMI.[2]

Armor set bonuses

Wearing a full dual-element set does two things. It absorbs some damage tied to its elements and turns it into mana, and it combines the utility effects of both elements. The full Elemancer set absorbs damage from every element and has all the effects of the lesser elemental armor.[3]

  • Cinder: absorbs fire- and air-related damage, instantly clears fire and greatly reduces fall damage.[3]
  • Lava: absorbs fire- and earth-related damage, instantly clears fire and gives you food deep underground when you are about to starve.[3]
  • Mire: absorbs water- and earth-related damage, refills your air when you are about to drown and gives you food deep underground when you are about to starve.[3]
  • Silt: absorbs air- and earth-related damage, greatly reduces fall damage and gives you food deep underground when you are about to starve.[3]
  • Tempest: absorbs air- and water-related damage, refills your air when you are about to drown and greatly reduces fall damage.[3]
  • Vapor: absorbs fire- and water-related damage, refills your air when you are about to drown and instantly clears fire.[3]
Tip: Armor tooltips also have a set info section. Hold the key shown in the tooltip to read the set bonus without leaving your inventory.[3]

Unverified The Lava, Mire, Silt, Tempest, Vapor and Elemancer lines probably follow the same essence, focus and armor upgrade pattern as Cinder, but their recipes are not shown in the available data. Check JEI or EMI in-game for the exact recipes. This site does hold All the Mods 10's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.

Unverified The available sources do not cover machines, multiblocks, power, fluid or item handling, automation, or exact values such as how much damage the armor absorbs or how strong the focus discounts are. Treat any such claims as unconfirmed.

How do you progress through Ars Elemancy?

3 parts

Ars Elemancy is all about fusion. You don't start from scratch here: you take elemental gear you've already built and merge it into stronger hybrid versions. Progression in this pack follows the recipes, climbing through three clear tiers.[2]

The three tiers at a glance

  1. Single-element gear: armor, bangles and foci from Ars Elemental, such as the air and fire sets. Every upgrade path starts with these pieces.[2]
  2. Dual-element gear: two single-element pieces for the same slot are fused into one hybrid piece. Cinder combines air and fire, and the pack also has Lava, Tempest, Mire, Silt and Vapor versions.[2]
  3. Elemancer gear: two dual-element pieces for the same slot are fused into the top-tier Elemancer piece.[2]

Tier 2: dual-element gear (Cinder example)

Each dual element needs its own essence. For Cinder, that's Cinder Essence, made with an imbuement recipe. You'll need one for every Cinder piece you upgrade, so it's worth setting up a steady supply before you start.[2]

Imbuement (ars_nouveau)

The Cinder tier covers three armor lines, and each one upgrades from the matching Ars Elemental line. The mage set is Cindermancer Hat, Cindermancer Robes, Cindermancer Leggings and Cindermancer Boots. The heavy set is Ashguard's Helmet, Ashguard's Chestplate, Ashguard's Leggings and Ashguard's Boots. The light set is Phoenix's Hood, Phoenix's Tunic, Phoenix's Pants and Phoenix's Shoes.[2]

Accessories and foci follow the same pattern. Cinder Bangle upgrades from the air and fire bangles. Focus of Cinder fuses the air and fire foci in an Enchanting Apparatus recipe.[2]

Tier 3: Elemancer gear

The top tier uses Elemancer Shard and two dual-element pieces for the same slot. You don't need all of them, though. Each Elemancer item has three alternative routes: Lava plus Tempest, Cinder plus Mire, or Silt plus Vapor. Pick whichever pair you've already built.[2]

The confirmed Elemancer items are Elemancer Bangle, Elemancer Boots for the mage line, and Omniguard's Boots and Omniguard's Chestplate for the heavy line.[2]

Tip: Every armor and bangle upgrade shown here uses Mark of Mastery, at both the dual-element and Elemancer tiers. Stock up on them before you start upgrading.[2]
Tip: You'll see most items listed twice in recipe viewers, with ids ending in _1 and _2. Both versions take the same inputs, so either one works.[2]

Unverified The sources don't confirm how the armor upgrade recipes are performed (which block or station you use). They also don't include the recipe for the Elemancer Shard, the essences for the other dual elements, or any stats and set bonuses for each tier.

How does Ars Elemancy work with other mods?

4 parts

Ars Elemancy builds directly on Ars Nouveau and Ars Elemental. In this pack, its core crafting materials come from Ars Nouveau recipe types, and most of its gear is made by merging matching Ars Elemental equipment into hybrid versions. If you've already gone deep into those two mods, you're well on your way.[2]

Essences from Ars Nouveau

Ars Elemancy's two key crafting materials, Cinder Essence and Elemancer Shard, are both Ars Nouveau imbuement recipes. Both use Ars Nouveau essences such as Air Essence and Fire Essence. The Elemancer Shard also needs a Source Gem. Get your essence production going first, because almost everything else in the mod needs one of these two items.[2]

Combining Ars Elemental foci

The foci are Enchanting Apparatus recipes that fuse Ars Elemental foci together. Focus of Cinder merges Focus of Air with Focus of Fire. Focus of Elemancy goes all the way and combines Focus of Air, Focus of Earth, Focus of Fire and Focus of Water into one.[2]

Upgrading Ars Elemental armor into Cinder gear

The Cinder gear is made with armor upgrade recipes. Each one fuses an air piece and a fire piece from the matching Ars Elemental set into one Cinder piece. Here's which sets feed into which:[2]

Armor Upgrade (sauce)

Recipe id: ars_elemancy:cinder_chestplate_1

Example: the other Cinder armor pieces follow the same pattern

Tip: Every armor and bangle upgrade recipe here needs an Ars Elemental Mark of Mastery. That covers the Cinder pieces and the Elemancer tier alike. Plan on a steady supply before you try to upgrade a full set.[2]

The Elemancer tier

The top tier works the same way, but it mostly uses Ars Elemancy's own hybrid gear. Each Elemancer piece, like Omniguard's Chestplate or Elemancer Bangle, has alternative recipes. They pair Lava with Tempest, Cinder with Mire, or Silt with Vapor, plus an Elemancer Shard. Here, the direct link to another mod is the Ars Elemental Mark of Mastery. The Cinder route also ties back to Ars Elemental through the Cinder pieces you made earlier.[2]

Unverified How the Lava, Tempest, Mire, Silt and Vapor pieces are crafted, and whether they also upgrade Ars Elemental gear, isn't covered by the recipes available for this section. What changed in Ars Elemancy between versions?

1 part

Ars Elemancy has been part of All the Mods 10 since version 3.0, and it has been updated several times since. In All the Mods 10 6.1 you're running Ars Elemancy 1.12, shipped as the file ars_elemancy-1.21.1-1.12.4.jar.[1][4]

Update timeline

  • All the Mods 10 3.0: Ars Elemancy is added to the pack at version 1.3.[4]
  • All the Mods 10 4.0: a big jump, from 1.3 straight to 1.8.[5]
  • All the Mods 10 4.5: updated from 1.8 to 1.10.[6]
  • All the Mods 10 4.11: updated from 1.10 to 1.11.[7]
  • All the Mods 10 6.0: updated from 1.11 to 1.12.[8]
  • All the Mods 10 6.1: still on Ars Elemancy 1.12, using the 1.12.4 jar.[1]
Tip: If you're coming back to an old world from before All the Mods 10 4.0, keep in mind the mod went from 1.3 to 1.8 in a single pack update, so that's the release where you're most likely to spot differences.[5]

Unverified The pack changelogs only list version numbers, and no mod changelogs were available, so the specific features, fixes or recipe changes in each Ars Elemancy update couldn't be confirmed.
