What is Ars Elemancy?

Ars Elemancy is included in this pack at version 1.11, built for Minecraft 1.21.1. It has been part of the pack since version 3.0 or earlier, so it isn't a recent addition.[1]

Unverified The sources I have don't describe what Ars Elemancy adds, who it suits, or how its content plays out in the pack. I'd rather leave that blank than guess, so check the mod in-game before relying on any details.

Unverified No quests were found that involve this mod, and it doesn't appear to be on the ATM Star quest path. This comes from missing data rather than a confirmed source, so don't treat it as a guarantee.

How do you get started with Ars Elemancy?

4 parts

Ars Elemancy sits on top of Ars Nouveau and Ars Elemental. Almost everything in it is an upgrade of gear you already have: you take elemental pieces and merge them into dual-element or all-element versions. Nothing here is crafted from scratch, so your first job is to get a special essence.[2][3]

Step 1: make an essence

Each element pair has its own essence, and it is made through Ars Nouveau imbuement. The Cinder Essence covers Fire and Air, so it makes a good first pick. Every upgrade after this needs the matching essence.[2]

Step 2: upgrade your armor

Armor pieces are made with the mod's armor upgrade recipe type. It takes the lesser Ars Elemental piece for each element, so you build on gear you already own. Here is the Cinder chest piece as an example. The hat, leggings, boots and bangle follow the same pattern.[2]

Armor Upgrade (ars_elemancy)

Recipe id: ars_elemancy:cinder_robes_1

The Cinder set absorbs some fire- and air-related damage and converts it into mana. It also instantly clears fire and greatly reduces fall damage. The other pair sets have their own perks, such as refilling air when you are about to drown, or giving you food deep underground when you are about to starve.[3]

Tip: Hold the key shown in the item tooltip to see the full set info for any armor piece. It's the quickest way to compare sets before you commit to one.[3]

Step 3: craft a focus

Foci are made at the Enchanting Apparatus. The Focus of Cinder amplifies and discounts glyphs of the Fire and Air schools, so pair it with the Cinder armor if your spells lean that way.[2][3]

Step 4: go for Elemancer

The top tier is the Elemancer set. It starts with the Elemancer Shard, made by imbuement.[2]

How does Ars Elemancy work?

4 parts

Here's the honest picture first: the sources for Ars Elemancy in this pack don't describe any machines, multiblocks, power, fluids or item automation. What the mod adds is elemental armor, bangles and foci that plug into the Ars Nouveau mana and glyph system. So this section covers how those pieces behave and how they are upgraded.[2][3]

Armor set effects

Every Elemancy armor set absorbs some damage of its elements and converts it into mana. Each set then adds its own survival perks on top. The tooltips use vague wording like "some" and "highly", so the exact percentages are unverified here.[3]

  • Cinder (Fire and Air): absorbs fire- and air-related damage, instantly clears fire and highly reduces fall damage.[3]
  • Lava (Fire and Earth): absorbs fire- and earth-related damage, instantly clears fire, and gives food deep underground if you're about to starve.[3]
  • Mire (Water and Earth): absorbs water- and earth-related damage, refills air if you're about to drown, and gives food deep underground if you're about to starve.[3]
  • Silt (Air and Earth): absorbs air- and earth-related damage, highly reduces fall damage and gives food deep underground if you're about to starve.[3]
  • Tempest (Air and Water): absorbs air- and water-related damage, refills air if you're about to drown and highly reduces fall damage.[3]
  • Vapor (Fire and Water): absorbs fire- and water-related damage, refills air if you're about to drown and instantly clears fire.[3]
  • Elemancer: absorbs element-related damage and has all the effects of the lesser elemental armor.[3]

In game you can hold the key shown in the tooltip to see this set info on any piece.[3]

Foci

A focus is attuned to a specific element and empowers some glyphs with new effects. Each Elemancy focus also amplifies and discounts glyphs from specific schools. Focus of Cinder covers Fire and Air. The other dual foci cover Fire and Earth (Lava), Water and Earth (Mire), Earth and Air (Silt), Water and Air (Tempest) and Fire and Water (Vapor). The elemental focus covers all 4 schools.[3]

How upgrades work

Dual-element gear is built by combining two lesser elemental pieces of the same slot. The recipes use the armor upgrade recipe type, which is why you see several numbered entries per item. Cinder gear is made from the Fire and Air pieces, and the pack's Cinder boots, hat, leggings, robes and bangle all follow that pattern.[2]

The essence that powers each upgrade is made separately. Cinder Essence comes from an Ars Nouveau imbuement recipe.[2]

Reaching the Elemancer tier

The top tier uses Elemancer Shard and joins two dual-element pieces so that all four elements are covered. The bangle recipes show three pairings: Lava with Tempest, Cinder with Mire, and Silt with Vapor. The boots recipe shown pairs Lavamancer and Tempestmancer boots.[2][3]

Unverified No config files or in-jar guidebook were available for this mod, so exact absorption percentages, mana conversion rates and fall-damage reduction values are unconfirmed. About 85 further recipes in the pack were not visible, so the full list for Lava, Mire, Silt, Tempest and Vapor gear is unconfirmed.

How do you progress through Ars Elemancy?

2 parts

Progression with this mod is a ladder of upgrades. You start from Ars Elemental armor, turn it into two-element sets, and then merge those into the top-tier Elemancer set. The recipes show the path clearly.[2]

Unverified No quests in this pack involve this mod, so there is no quest chapter to follow. The order below comes only from the recipes.

Tier 1: two-element sets

The first step is an essence. Cinder Essence and Lava Essence are both made by imbuement from Ars Nouveau essences. Here are the two recipes.[2]

Cinder Essence is imbued from Air, Fire and Manipulation Essence.

Lava EssenceMod recipe

Imbuement (ars_nouveau)

Recipe id: ars_elemancy:lava_essence

Lava Essence is imbued from Earth, Fire and Manipulation Essence.

Each essence is used in armor upgrade recipes. You combine it with a matching pair of Ars Elemental pieces and a Mark of Mastery. That gives you the two-element version of the hat, robes, leggings, boots or bangle. Cinder uses the air and fire pieces, and Lava uses the earth and fire pieces. Here is the Cindermancer Hat as an example.[2]

The other Cinder and Lava pieces follow the same pattern.

The Focus items are a separate branch. Focus of Cinder and Focus of Lava are made at the enchanting apparatus. They use the matching essence and the Ars Elemental foci of the two elements involved.[2]

Tier 2: the Elemancer set

The top tier starts with the Elemancer Shard, called the Elemancer Shard in this pack. It is also imbued, and it needs Air, Earth, Fire and Water Essence plus a Source Gem.[2]

Elemancer gear is not built from base pieces. You upgrade two matching two-element pieces together with the shard and a Mark of Mastery. For each slot the pack accepts three pairings: Lava with Tempest, Cinder with Mire, and Silt with Vapor. Here is the hat for each pairing. The robes, leggings, boots and bangle follow the same pattern.[2]

Tip: Any of the three pairings gives the same Elemancer piece, so you can pick whichever two sets are easiest for you to finish. You only need one pairing per piece.[2]

The last piece is the Focus of Elemancy. It is made at the enchanting apparatus from the shard and the air, earth, fire and water foci.[2]

How does Ars Elemancy work with other mods?

3 parts

In this pack, Ars Elemancy is tightly tied to Ars Nouveau and Ars Elemental. The recipes that connect them fall into three groups: essences, foci and armor upgrades. Everything here comes from the pack's recipe data, so it shows the pack's own recipes.[2]

Essences: Ars Nouveau imbuement

The Elemancy essences are imbued from Ars Nouveau's own items, using Ars Nouveau's imbuement recipe type. Cinder Essence, Lava Essence, Mire Essence and the top-tier Elemancer Shard are all in the recipe data as imbuement recipes. Manipulation Essence shows up in the first three, and Source Gem in the Elemancer Shard. The recipe blocks below show the exact inputs for two of them.[2]

The Elemancer Shard also needs a Source Gem.

Foci: Enchanting Apparatus

The Elemancy foci are made in Ars Nouveau's Enchanting Apparatus. Each one takes the matching Elemancy essence plus the Ars Elemental foci of the elements it merges. For example, Focus of Cinder builds on Focus of Air and Focus of Fire, and Focus of Elemancy builds on the Air, Earth, Fire and Water foci.[2]

Armor and bangles: upgrading Ars Elemental gear

The Elemancy hats, robes, leggings, boots and bangles shown in the recipe data use the mod's own armor upgrade recipe type. You don't craft them from scratch: you upgrade pieces from Ars Elemental, and each upgrade here uses the matching Elemancy essence and a Mark of Mastery.[2]

The Elemancer pieces, such as Elemancer Robes, go one step further. They combine two Elemancy pieces of the same slot, with the Elemancer Shard and a Mark of Mastery. The recipes pair Lava with Tempest, Cinder with Mire, and Silt with Vapor.[2]

Tip: Every armor and bangle upgrade in the recipe data needs a Mark of Mastery from Ars Elemental, so plan for one per piece. Each upgrade also appears as two recipe entries with the same ingredients, so don't be surprised to see duplicates in a recipe viewer.[2]

Unverified The sources here show no quests that involve Ars Elemancy, so whether the pack's quest book guides you through any of these links is not confirmed. The connections above come from recipes only.

What changed in Ars Elemancy between versions?

1 part

Ars Elemancy has been in All the Mods 10 since version 3.0, and the pack has bumped it several times since. The version in 4.14 is 1.11, shipped as the file ars_elemancy-1.21.1-1.11.jar.[1][4]

Pack release timeline

  • All the Mods 10 3.0: Ars Elemancy 1.3 was added to the pack.[4]
  • All the Mods 10 4.0: updated from 1.3 to 1.8.[5]
  • All the Mods 10 4.5: updated from 1.8 to 1.10.[6]
  • All the Mods 10 4.11: updated from 1.10 to 1.11.[7]
  • All the Mods 10 4.14: still on 1.11, with no further update to the mod.[1][7]

The mod list also says Ars Elemancy was first included in 3.0 or earlier, and the 3.0 changelog lists it as newly added.[1][4]

Unverified The pack changelogs only record version bumps, and there are no stored changelogs for the shipped jars. What changed inside the mod between 1.3, 1.8, 1.10 and 1.11 (new spells, balance changes, fixes) is unverified here, so check the mod's own release notes before relying on any specific change.
