What is All the Wizard Gear?

1 part

All the Wizard Gear adds mage armor and spell books in three metal tiers: Allthemodium, Vibranium and Unobtainium. Each tier has a hat, robes, leggings and boots, plus its own spell book.[1][2][3]

This pack ships version 1.21.1-1.1.10 of the mod, and it has been in the pack since All the Mods 10 2.2 or earlier.[4]

Where it fits in the quest book

The gear appears in the quest chapters allthemodium, basic_armor and iron_spells_and_spellbooks. In the allthemodium chapter, each tier has one armor quest and one spell book quest. An armor quest accepts any single piece from its set. The armor quests are a quest in "?" for Allthemodium, a quest in "?" for Vibranium and a quest in "?" for Unobtainium. The spell book quests are a quest in "?", a quest in "?" and a quest in "?" in the same tier order. Each of these quests unlocks after two earlier quests.[1]

The basic_armor chapter is stricter. a quest in "?" (Allthemodium), a quest in "?" (Vibranium) and a quest in "?" (Unobtainium) each list all four armor pieces of their set as separate tasks.[2]

The iron_spells_and_spellbooks chapter chains the spell books. The Allthemodium book quest is a quest in "?", the Vibranium one (a quest in "?") comes after it, and the Unobtainium one (a quest in "?") comes after that.[3]

Unverified Whether the ATM Star path uses this mod is not shown by the quest sources here, so this guide does not say either way.

How do you get started with All the Wizard Gear?

4 parts

Good news: All the Wizard Gear is simple to get started with. Every piece in this pack comes from a smithing recipe, and the gear moves up through three metal tiers in a fixed order: Allthemodium, then Vibranium, then Unobtainium. You start at the bottom and upgrade your way up.[1][5]

Step 1: Allthemodium mage armor

Start with the Allthemodium set: Allthemodium Mage Hat, Allthemodium Mage Robes, Allthemodium Mage Leggings and Allthemodium Mage Boots. This is the first tier in the chain. The quest a quest in "?" asks for all four pieces, so it's a handy checklist.[2][5]

This is the Allthemodium Mage Hat. The other armor pieces use their own smithing recipes.

Step 2: The Allthemodium Spell Book

Next, make the Allthemodium Spell Book. It has its own smithing recipe. In the spellbook quest chapter, the Allthemodium book quest a quest in "?" comes first, followed by the Vibranium and Unobtainium book quests.[3][5]

Step 3: Upgrade to Vibranium

The Vibranium tier is a smithing upgrade of the Allthemodium tier, so you can't skip ahead. That covers the armor (Vibranium Mage Hat, Vibranium Mage Robes, Vibranium Mage Leggings, Vibranium Mage Boots) and the Vibranium Spell Book. The quests a quest in "?" and a quest in "?" track the armor set and the spell book.[2][3][5]

Step 4: Finish with Unobtainium

The top tier follows the same pattern, upgrading from Vibranium. You're aiming for the Unobtainium Mage Hat, Unobtainium Mage Robes, Unobtainium Mage Leggings, Unobtainium Mage Boots and the Unobtainium Spell Book. The matching quests are a quest in "?" for the armor and a quest in "?" for the book.[2][3][5]

Tip: Each tier builds on the last, so keep your lower-tier pieces instead of using them for anything else. You'll need them for the next upgrade.[5]

How does All the Wizard Gear work?

3 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

All the Wizard Gear has no machines, multiblocks, power, fluids or item automation that the sources show. What the sources do show is gear: mage armor sets (hat, robes, leggings and boots) and spell books in the Allthemodium, Vibranium and Unobtainium tiers. The only mechanic to learn is how the pieces are crafted.[6]

Smithing-table upgrades

Every piece in this mod is made with a smithing transform recipe, so you do the work at a smithing table. Each recipe also asks for an ingot of the matching metal, and an item from a tier-specific mod tag.[6]

The upgrade chain

The tiers build on each other in a loop of upgrades. The Allthemodium armor starts from a base wizard armor piece for its slot, accepted through a mod item tag. The Vibranium armor then uses the matching Allthemodium piece as its base, and the Unobtainium armor uses the matching Vibranium piece. Here is the Allthemodium helmet as the starting example:[6]

Smithing Transform

  • any allthemodium smithing
  • any base wizard helmet
  • any allthemodium ingot

Recipe id: minecraft:allthemodium_mage_helmet_smithing

Next, Vibranium Mage Hat is upgraded from Allthemodium Mage Hat, and Unobtainium Mage Hat is upgraded from the Vibranium hat.[6]

Smithing Transform

Smithing Transform

Recipe id: minecraft:unobtainium_mage_helmet_smithing

The robes, leggings and boots follow the same pattern, each upgrading from the previous tier's piece in the same slot. The pieces are listed here so you can find each slot.[6]

Spell books

The spell books follow the same chain. Allthemodium Spell Book is upgraded from the Ancient Codex, a spell book from another mod. Vibranium Spell Book is upgraded from the Allthemodium book, and Unobtainium Spell Book from the Vibranium book.[6]

Smithing Transform

Recipe id: minecraft:vibranium_spell_book_smithing

Smithing Transform

Recipe id: minecraft:unobtainium_spell_book_smithing

Tip: Because Vibranium and Unobtainium pieces are upgrades of the previous tier's item, you need the earlier tier's piece in hand before you can make the next one. Each step also needs an ingot of the new metal, which the recipes accept through a shared ingot tag.[6]

Unverified Armor values, durability, spell power or mana bonuses, and any set bonuses for these items could not be confirmed. The mod has no config files in the pack, and no guidebook or lang descriptions were available to the sources here.

How do you progress through All the Wizard Gear?

4 parts

Wizard gear in the pack has three metal tiers, and they stack in a fixed order: Allthemodium, then Vibranium, then Unobtainium. Every step is a smithing-table upgrade, so you build on what you already own instead of starting from scratch each time.[5]

Tier 1: Allthemodium

This is the entry tier. The mage hat, robes, leggings and boots are each made at the smithing table from the matching base wizard armor piece. The recipes accept any item in the base wizard armor tags, so you are not locked to one specific starting item.[5]

The Allthemodium Spell Book is different. It upgrades the Ancient Codex (Ancient Codex) at the smithing table.[5]

Smithing Transform

  • any allthemodium smithing

  • any allthemodium ingot

The other three armor pieces follow the same pattern with their own base piece.

Smithing Transform

Recipe id: minecraft:allthemodium_spell_book_smithing

Tier 2: Vibranium

Vibranium gear is an upgrade of the Allthemodium piece of the same slot. For example, Vibranium Mage Boots come from Allthemodium Mage Boots. The Vibranium Spell Book upgrades the Allthemodium Spell Book in the same way.[5]

Smithing Transform

Tier 3: Unobtainium

Unobtainium is the top tier. Unobtainium Mage Hat, Unobtainium Mage Robes, Unobtainium Mage Leggings and Unobtainium Mage Boots each upgrade the Vibranium piece of the same slot. The Unobtainium Spell Book upgrades the Vibranium Spell Book.[5]

Tip: Because each tier upgrades the previous one, you can't skip ahead. Unobtainium gear needs a Vibranium piece, which needs an Allthemodium piece. Plan which slots you want at the top tier before you spend materials.[5]

Following the quests

The pack tracks each tier in several quest chapters. In the allthemodium chapter, each tier has an armor quest and a spell book quest. The armor quests accept any one of that tier's four armor pieces.[1]

The basic_armor chapter is stricter. It has one quest per tier, and each asks for all four armor pieces as separate tasks. These are a quest in "?" for Allthemodium, a quest in "?" for Vibranium and a quest in "?" for Unobtainium.[2]

The iron_spells_and_spellbooks chapter chains the three spell books in the same order as the upgrades. a quest in "?" is the Allthemodium Spell Book, a quest in "?" follows it for the Vibranium one, and a quest in "?" follows that for the Unobtainium one.[3]

How does All the Wizard Gear work with other mods?

2 parts

The clearest link between this mod and the rest of the pack is the Allthemodium Spell Book. In this pack it is a smithing upgrade of the Ancient Codex, so it ties the gear to the Iron's Spells 'n Spellbooks side of the pack and to the Allthemodium metal.[5]

Smithing Transform

Recipe id: minecraft:allthemodium_spell_book_smithing

This smithing recipe is the in-pack link between this mod and an item from another mod.

The recipe also accepts any item from the tag allthewizardgear:allthemodium_smithing. Check that tag in-game if you need to know exactly which items it holds.[5]

Spell book quests in the spellbooks chapter

The pack's iron_spells_and_spellbooks quest chapter includes this mod's three spell books. They form a chain: the Allthemodium Spell Book quest comes first, then the Vibranium Spell Book quest, then the Unobtainium Spell Book quest.[3]

  1. Quest a quest in "?" asks for the Allthemodium Spell Book and follows an earlier quest in the quest book.[3]
  2. Quest a quest in "?" asks for the Vibranium Spell Book and comes after the Allthemodium one.[3]
  3. Quest a quest in "?" asks for the Unobtainium Spell Book and comes after the Vibranium one.[3]

Gear in the metal quest lines

The "allthemodium" chapter also asks for this mod's gear. Each metal has one quest for its spell book and one for its mage armor. The armor quests accept any one piece (hat, robes, leggings or boots), so you don't need the full set to finish them.[1]

The "basic_armor" chapter is stricter. Its three quests list all four pieces (hat, robes, leggings and boots) as separate tasks for each metal: Allthemodium in a quest in "?", Vibranium in a quest in "?" and Unobtainium in a quest in "?".[2]

Which All the Mods 10 quests use All the Wizard Gear?

3 parts

Wizard Gear shows up in three quest chapters in this pack: allthemodium, basic_armor and iron_spells_and_spellbooks. Every quest here is untitled in the quest file, so I'm pointing you to them by quest reference. The quests ask you to obtain mage armor or a spell book from the three metal tiers: Allthemodium, Vibranium and Unobtainium.[1][2][3]

Basic Armor chapter

This chapter has a quest for each metal, and none of them lists a prerequisite. Each quest lists a separate task for every piece of the set: hat, robes, leggings and boots.[2]

Allthemodium chapter

Here each metal gets an armor quest and a spell book quest. Both quests for a metal share the same prerequisites, and each unlocks only after the earlier quests listed for it are done. The armor quests are looser than the Basic Armor ones, because a single task accepts any one of the four pieces (hat, robes, leggings or boots).[1]

Iron's Spells and Spellbooks chapter

This chapter is a straight chain of the three spell books. The first quest unlocks after one earlier quest, and each of the other two unlocks after the quest before it, so you work through them in this order:[3]

  1. a quest in "?": get the Allthemodium Spell Book.[3]
  2. a quest in "?": get the Vibranium Spell Book.[3]
  3. a quest in "?": get the Unobtainium Spell Book.[3]
Tip: The spell book quests in the allthemodium chapter ask for the same books as this chain. If you're heading for the Unobtainium book anyway, you'll be working through the Allthemodium and Vibranium ones on the way.[1][3]

What changed in All the Wizard Gear between versions?

All the Wizard Gear has been in All the Mods 10 since version 2.2 or earlier. The pack changelogs only record a few version bumps for it, and they are listed below from oldest to newest.[4]

  • All the Mods 10 2.26: updated from 1.21-1.1.8 to 1.21-1.1.9.[7]
  • All the Mods 10 2.43: updated from 1.21-1.1.9 to 1.21.1-1.1.9. The mod version stays at 1.1.9, but the build tag changes from 1.21 to 1.21.1.[8]
  • All the Mods 10 4.5: updated from 1.21.1-1.1.9 to 1.21.1-1.1.10.[9]

If you're on All the Mods 10 4.5, you have All the Wizard Gear 1.21.1-1.1.10, shipped as allthewizardgear-1.21.1-1.1.10.jar.[4][9]

Unverified The changelogs I have only record which version the pack moved to. They don't say what changed inside the mod (new items, balance tweaks or fixes) between 1.1.8, 1.1.9 and 1.1.10, so I can't tell you what those updates did.
