What is IntegratedCrafting?

1 part

IntegratedCrafting adds autocrafting to the Integrated Dynamics logistics network. This pack ships version 1.3.1 of the mod. Its main piece is the Part Interface Crafting, the Crafting Interface.[1][2]

You place the Crafting Interface on a crafting table and right-click it to get slots for Variable Cards. Then you open the Logic Programmer, search for Recipe in the top left, build an autocrafting recipe and save it to a Variable Card. If a recipe needs ingredients that must be crafted too, make a recipe for each of those, then put everything into the Crafting Interface.[2]

Where it sits in the quest book

The pack's quest book has no IntegratedCrafting chapter of its own. Its quest, a quest in "Integrated Dynamics" (titled AUTO CRAFT), lives in the Integrated Dynamics chapter, which has 27 quests. The chapter opens with "Integrated Dynamics" quest, which introduces Integrated Dynamics as a logistics mod for storage and item, power and fluid transfer.[2]

AUTO CRAFT comes right after a quest in "Integrated Dynamics", the Getting Advanced quest. That is why you want the Logic Programmer first: you use it to write the recipe cards. The same quest also unlocks a quest in "Integrated Dynamics" and a quest in "Integrated Dynamics".[2]

The next quest after AUTO CRAFT is a quest in "Integrated Dynamics", which asks for the Integrated Terminals crafting job part. According to the quest text, it shows which crafting recipes are happening at any time.[2]

Tip: Do the Logic Cables, Variable Cards and Logic Programmer quests before AUTO CRAFT. The chapter builds up to it in that order, and the Crafting Interface relies on Variable Cards that you write in the Logic Programmer.[2]

Nothing in the chapter's quest entries marks this quest as an ATM Star step.[2]

How do you get started with IntegratedCrafting?

4 parts

IntegratedCrafting adds autocrafting to your Integrated Dynamics networks. The setup is short: make a Crafting Interface, teach it a recipe, then start a crafting job. Here's the order I'd go in.[3]

Step one: make the Crafting Interface

Start with the Part Interface Crafting. It tells your network where and how things can be crafted. You point it at a machine, like a crafting table or a furnace, and it gets bound to that machine to handle recipes. The pack's quest a quest in "Integrated Dynamics" in the Integrated Dynamics chapter has you craft one.[2][3]

Step two: teach it a recipe

  1. Place the Crafting Interface on a crafting table and right-click it. This gives you slots for Variable Cards.[2]
  2. Open the Logic Programmer, search for Recipe in the top left, and create a recipe for autocrafting. Save it to a Variable Card.[2]
  3. If the recipe needs items that must be crafted first, create a recipe for each of those too.[2]
  4. Put all the Variable Cards into the Crafting Interface.[2]

Step three: make the Crafting Writer

Next, make the Part Crafting Writer. It's one way to start a crafting job. When a job starts, the network uses a Crafting Interface that has a matching recipe.[3]

This is the pack's shaped recipe for the Crafting Writer.

A good first test is a crafting job for Oak Planks, using the recipe you created yourself. The mod has advancements for exactly this: one for starting that job with a Crafting Writer, and one for inserting your manually created Oak Planks recipe into a Crafting Interface.[3]

Tip: The crafting table is a special case: a Crafting Interface alone is enough to craft with it. For other machines like a furnace, the Crafting Interface only inserts the inputs. You have to get the results back into the network yourself, for example with an active Integrated Tunnels importer on the machine, or by letting the machine output into the Crafting Interface. The job only completes once the expected outputs show up in the storage network.[3]

Later: the Attuned Crafting Interface

Once you're further along, upgrade to the Part Interface Crafting Attuned. You don't need to add recipes by hand, because it reads and exposes all the recipes available in the target machine. Some modded machines may not be supported, and you'll see a red border when you place it on one.[3]

Recipe id: integratedcrafting:crafting/part_interface_crafting_attuned

This is the pack's shaped recipe for the Attuned Crafting Interface, and it uses the plain Crafting Interface as an input.

Tip: By default, the Crafting Interface runs in blocking mode. The machine only accepts one recipe at a time and starts the next one when the previous one is done. If a machine can process several inputs in parallel, you can turn blocking mode off in the interface's settings.[3]

How does IntegratedCrafting work?

8 parts

IntegratedCrafting lets you craft things inside Integrated Dynamics networks. The key idea is that the Part Interface Crafting tells your network where and how things can be crafted. You point it at a machine, such as a crafting table or a furnace, and it becomes bound to that machine and handles recipes for it.[3][4]

How a crafting job runs

A crafting job can be started with the Part Crafting Writer. One or more Crafting Interfaces that have a matching recipe are then used for the job. Each interface is responsible for inserting all the recipe's inputs into its bound machine, and it takes those inputs from the storage network contents provided by Integrated Tunnels interfaces.[3][4]

Watch out: A Crafting Interface does not import crafting results from the machine, so you have to get the results back into the network yourself. The crafting table is the exception: it only needs a Crafting Interface. The job is only marked as completed once the expected outputs show up in the storage network. You can do this with an active Integrated Tunnels importer on the machine, or by letting the machine output straight into the Crafting Interface.[3]

Everything that is inserted into a Crafting Interface (items, fluids and energy) is inserted into the storage network for the channel you configured.[3]

Telling the interface which recipes it can do

With the basic interface, you open its GUI and insert Variable Cards that hold recipes. That tells the interface the recipe can be crafted in the bound machine. As soon as a card goes in, you get early feedback: a green checkmark means the recipe is valid for the machine, and a red cross means the card has no valid recipe or the machine can't craft it. Hover over the symbol for more information. This catches mistakes like putting a chest recipe into an interface bound to a furnace.[3]

Later in the game you can make the Part Interface Crafting Attuned. You don't add recipes to it by hand: it reads and exposes every recipe available in the target machine, the same ones listed in the Machine Reader. Some modded machines may not be supported, and the interface shows that with a red border when you place it.[3][4]

Blocking mode

Blocking mode is enabled by default. The machine then accepts only one recipe at a time, and the next recipe starts only after the previous one has completed.[3]

If a machine can process several inputs in parallel, turn blocking mode off in the interface's settings GUI. With a multi-amount job, the machine is then given as many inputs as it can process.[3]

Configuring the interface

Like most Integrated Dynamics parts, the Crafting Interface lets you set the channel, priority and tick rate. You can also change the target side separately for each ingredient type. That helps when a machine takes items from its sides but fluids from the top.[3]

Spreading a job over several machines

You can distribute one crafting job over multiple Crafting Interfaces, which helps with slow machines. For example, 40 iron ingots can be split evenly over 10 furnaces.[3]

The only requirement is that every machine you want to share the work has a Crafting Interface exposing at least exactly the same recipe. In the furnace example, all 10 furnaces need an interface containing exactly the same iron ingot smelting recipe.[3]

Dynamic recipes

Recipes exposed through Crafting Interfaces can be fully dynamic, just like Variable Cards in general. A recipe could change depending on day or night, or on whether a certain item is available in the network. The interface notices when a recipe is updated and all new jobs use the new version immediately, while jobs already running keep the old one.[3]

Tip: The more often a recipe changes, the more lag it can produce, so use dynamic recipes with caution.[3]

Crafting aspects and debugging

The Crafting Writer works with write aspects that craft a given item, fluid, energy amount or recipe. There is also an integer aspect for craft delay, which only crafts if an ingredient has been missing from storage for the set duration.[3]

If a job doesn't work, use the crafting-related aspects of the Network Reader. They can list all available recipes in the network, all running crafting jobs and all ingredients being crafted. Showing those lists in Display Panels helps you pinpoint the problem. If you have Integrated Terminals installed, its Crafting Job Terminal can show running jobs and missing ingredients, and can cancel jobs.[3]

Getting the parts

The three parts are crafted with ordinary shaped recipes from the mod. Here is the Crafting Writer.[3][4]

How do you progress through IntegratedCrafting?

3 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10: To the Sky 2.0.4 guide

IntegratedCrafting has no quest chapter of its own in this pack. Its autocrafting quest sits inside the Integrated Dynamics chapter, so you follow the Integrated Dynamics chain first and reach the crafting part near the end of it.[5]

The path through the quest book

  1. Start with "Integrated Dynamics" quest. Menril Saplings come from sieving Moss with an Iron+ Mesh, and the tree needs a 3x3 area of dirt to grow.[5]
  2. Do a quest in "Integrated Dynamics", then a quest in "Integrated Dynamics". Menril Logs squeezed into resin are picked up by a Drying Basin, and after 7.5 seconds the resin turns into a Block of Crystallized Menril.[5]
  3. Reach "Crystallized Menril Chunks" quest. The quest calls these chunks the main crafting ingredient of Integrated Dynamics.[5]
  4. Build your network basics with "Logic Cables" quest, then "Variable Cards" quest. The Input and Output Variable Transformer quests (a quest in "Integrated Dynamics" and a quest in "Integrated Dynamics") come right after Variable Cards.[5]
  5. Work through the importer, exporter and interface quests, the untitled "Moving Stuff!" quest and the two interface and importer/exporter menu explainers that follow it. After those comes a quest in "Integrated Dynamics".[5]
  6. Finally, a quest in "Integrated Dynamics" unlocks after the Logic Programmer, and a quest in "Integrated Dynamics" comes after that.[5]

Crafting Interface

The Part Interface Crafting is the item the AUTO CRAFT quest asks for, and it is the first IntegratedCrafting item you meet. Here is the in-pack recipe.[5][6]

The quest explains the setup like this:[5]

  1. Place the Crafting Interface on a crafting table and right-click it to get slots for Variable Cards.[5]
  2. Open the Logic Programmer and search for Recipe in the top left. Create a recipe for autocrafting and save it to a Variable Card.[5]
  3. If the recipe needs items that must be crafted too, create a recipe for each of those, then put everything in the Crafting Interface.[5]
Tip: The Logic Programmer is the real gate for autocrafting, since you need it to write the recipe Variable Cards. Finish its quest before you plan a crafting setup.[5]

Other IntegratedCrafting items

The pack has recipes for two more IntegratedCrafting parts: the Part Crafting Writer and the Part Interface Crafting Attuned. The Integrated Dynamics chapter has no quest for either of them.[5][6]

How does IntegratedCrafting work with other mods?

2 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10: To the Sky 2.0.4 guide

In this pack, IntegratedCrafting is tied closely to Integrated Dynamics. All three of its recipes in the pack's recipe dump are mod recipes that use Integrated Dynamics parts, plus a few vanilla and common items such as a crafting table, iron ingots and emeralds. The quest book also puts the autocrafting quest inside the Integrated Dynamics chapter, not in a chapter of its own.[5][6]

Recipes that connect the mods

The Part Crafting Writer is built from an Integrated Dynamics variable transformer and a Crafting Table.[6]

Where the quest book places it

The Integrated Dynamics chapter has 27 quests. The transformer quests, a quest in "Integrated Dynamics" and a quest in "Integrated Dynamics", both come after the Variable Cards quest. The first is described as a crafting ingredient for anything that does importing, whether items, fluids or energy.[5]

The autocrafting quest, a quest in "Integrated Dynamics", is titled "AUTO CRAFT" and asks you to get the Crafting Interface. It comes after the Logic Programmer quest. Six quests in this chapter are not covered here, so check the quest book for those.[5]

The quest explains the setup like this: place the Crafting Interface on a crafting table and right-click it to get slots for Variable Cards. Then use the Logic Programmer, search for Recipe in the top left, create a recipe for autocrafting and save it to a Variable Card. If a recipe needs items that must be crafted first, make a recipe for each of those too, then put everything into the Crafting Interface.[5]

Tip: The quest book only tells the autocrafting setup for the Crafting Interface. I have no quest text for the Crafting Writer or the attuned interface, so I am not covering how they work here.[5]

Which All the Mods 10: To the Sky quests use IntegratedCrafting?

3 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10: To the Sky 2.0.4 guide

IntegratedCrafting has one quest in this pack, and it sits inside the Integrated Dynamics chapter, which has 27 quests in total. The chapter opens with "Integrated Dynamics" quest, which asks for a Menril Sapling and hands you a guidebook as a reward. You work through the basics of the whole Integrated Dynamics family before you reach autocrafting.[5]

The road to the crafting quest

  1. Start with the Menril basics. a quest in "Integrated Dynamics" and a quest in "Integrated Dynamics" both come right after the opening quest. a quest in "Integrated Dynamics" follows the Squeezer, and "Crystallized Menril Chunks" quest follows that. The chunks are the main crafting ingredient of Integrated Dynamics.[5]
  2. After the chunks, the chapter branches into the Wrench, Honeycomb, Energy Battery, Interfaces and Logic Cables quests. "Logic Cables" quest is the branch that leads toward the logistics quests.[5]
  3. Next come "Variable Cards" quest, then the Input and Output Variable Transformer quests. Those lead to the a quest in "Integrated Dynamics" and a quest in "Integrated Dynamics" quests.[5]
  4. a quest in "Integrated Dynamics" follows the Importing, Exporting and Interfaces quests. After it come untitled explainer quests about interface and importer/exporter menus, and then a quest in "Integrated Dynamics", titled Getting Advanced.[5]

The AUTO CRAFT quest

a quest in "Integrated Dynamics" unlocks right after the Logic Programmer quest, at the same point as the Portable Logic Programmer and Variable Store quests. It asks you to get the Part Interface Crafting.[5]

The quest text walks you through the setup:[5]

  1. Place the Crafting Interface on a crafting table and right-click it to get slots for Variable Cards.[5]
  2. Open the Logic Programmer, search for Recipe in the top left, and create a recipe for autocrafting. Save it to a Variable Card.[5]
  3. If a recipe needs items that must be crafted too, create a recipe for each of those. Then put everything in the Crafting Interface.[5]
Tip: You need the Logic Programmer for this, so finish a quest in "Integrated Dynamics" first. The Variable Cards from "Variable Cards" quest are where your saved recipes end up.[5]

What comes after

The only quest that follows AUTO CRAFT is a quest in "Integrated Dynamics", which asks for the Integrated Terminals crafting job part. It shows which crafting recipes are happening at any time, so it is handy for checking what your autocrafting setup is doing.[5]
