What is Gravitational Modulating Additional Unit?

2 parts

Gravitational Modulating Additional Unit is an add-on module for Mekanism's Gravitational Modulating Unit. The pack ships version 6.4 of the mod, and it has been in the pack since 1.1.1 or earlier. Its item is Module Gravitational Modulating Additional Unit.[1][2]

What it does

The quest book describes it as an upgrade to the Gravitational Modulating Unit, and you need to install both to use them. The upgrades it lists for flight are:[2]

  • You stop instantly when you let go of your movement keys while flying.[2]
  • You can ascend faster.[2]
  • You can fly all the time.[2]

Like other Mekanism modules, it goes into your gear through the Modification Station. The quest book says installed modules can be enabled or disabled in their configs, which you open from the Modification Station quest's explanation.[2]

Where it sits in the quest book

You'll find it in the "Mekanism: Reactors" chapter as "Gravitational Modulating Additional Unit" quest, tagged "Bodyarmor". It comes directly after "Modification Station" quest, which is the quest that teaches you how to put module units into tools and armor.[2]

Two other module quests in the chapter also come after the Modification Station quest: "Shearing Unit" quest (tagged "Meka-Tool") and "Motorized Servo Unit" quest (tagged "Pants"). The sources don't show a quest that follows the Gravitational Modulating Additional Unit quest itself.[2]

The chapter has 93 quests in total, and the text of 75 of them isn't included here, so check the quest book in game for the rest of the chapter.[2]

How do you get started with Gravitational Modulating Additional Unit?

2 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 4.2 guide

This mod is a small add-on built around one item: the Module Gravitational Modulating Additional Unit. Its description says it requires the 'Gravitational Modulating Unit' and provides additional features, so it is an upgrade to that unit, not a standalone piece of gear.[3]

Step 1: Get the Gravitational Modulating Unit first

Since the additional unit needs the 'Gravitational Modulating Unit' to work, make sure you have that unit before you craft this one. Otherwise the additional unit has nothing to add to.[3]

Step 2: Craft the additional unit

The additional unit is made with a shaped crafting recipe, and this pack uses the mod's own recipe instead of a custom one. It calls for a Module Base from Module Gravitational Modulating Additional Unit's parent tech tree along with ultimate-tier, polonium and reinforced-alloy materials, so expect to be well into your Mekanism progression before you can make it.[4]

Unverified The sources don't say which additional features the unit unlocks, which armor piece it goes into, or how many can be installed. Test it in-game or check the mod's own tooltips once you have it.

How does Gravitational Modulating Additional Unit work?

3 parts

Same as in the All the Mons 1.3.0 guide

This mod is small, and the sources only explain a little of how it works. Here is what can be confirmed.[5]

What the unit does

The mod's own description for the unit says it requires the 'Gravitational Modulating Unit' and provides additional features. So Module Gravitational Modulating Additional Unit is an add-on that depends on that base unit, not something that works on its own.[5]

Crafting it

In this pack the unit is a shaped crafting recipe that comes from the mod itself. The pack has not replaced it with its own version. Here is the exact recipe:[6]

Controls

The mod adds a keybind called "Vertical Speed Modifier Switch". You can find it in your controls menu.[5]

Unverified The sources don't say what the Vertical Speed Modifier Switch changes in practice, what the base Gravitational Modulating Unit does, or whether the mod has any power, fluid or item handling. There are no config files for this mod in the pack.

How do you progress through Gravitational Modulating Additional Unit?

3 parts

There are no tiers to climb here. In this pack the sources show one item from this mod, Module Gravitational Modulating Additional Unit, with one recipe and one quest. So progression is really about what you need in place before you can use it.[2][7]

Where it sits in the quest book

The quest "Gravitational Modulating Additional Unit" quest is in the Mekanism: Reactors chapter, in the Bodyarmor group. It comes right after the "Modification Station" quest quest. The Modification Station is the machine you use to install Module Units into your tools and armor, and it needs Energy to work.[2]

The "Gravitational Modulating Unit" quest quest is also in the Bodyarmor group and also follows the Modification Station. The quest book does not list one as coming after the other, but the Additional Unit quest tells you to install both.[2]

What you need before you use it

  1. Get a Modification Station. The quest book describes putting the Module Unit in the left slot and the armor or tool in the right slot, and then it installs automatically.[2]
  2. Install the Gravitational Modulating Unit. The quest says the Additional Unit is an upgrade to it and that both must be installed to use them. The base unit is described as Creative Flight, uses Energy, and has a fly speed you can raise in its configs.[2]
  3. Craft the Additional Unit with the recipe below and install it the same way. The quest places it in the Bodyarmor group.[2][7]

The pack's recipe dump lists this as a shaped crafting recipe from a mod recipe.

What it changes in flight

  • You stop instantly when you let go of your movement keys in flight.[2]
  • You can ascend faster.[2]
  • You can fly always, as the quest puts it.[2]
Watch out: The Gravitational Modulating Unit can't be used together with the Jetpack Unit. The "Jetpack Unit" quest quest says you can't use the Jetpack Unit while the Gravitational Modulating Unit is on, so plan your Bodyarmor around that.[2]

Once a Module Unit is installed, the Modification Station quest says you can press the backslash key to open its configs and enable or disable it.[2]

How does Gravitational Modulating Additional Unit work with other mods?

Same as in the All the Mods 10 4.2 guide

The main integration for this mod in the pack is with Mekanism. The Module Gravitational Modulating Additional Unit is crafted on top of Mekanism's Module Base, so you'll need some Mekanism progress before you can make one.[4]

The recipe is a standard shaped crafting table recipe. Besides the Module Base, it takes ingredients by tag, so any item in the right tag works. That includes the reinforced alloy tag from Mekanism. Check the recipe below for the exact layout used in this pack.[4]

Unverified What the module does once installed, for example whether it goes into Mekanism's MekaSuit and grants flight, isn't confirmed by the pack data used here. Test it in-game before you plan around it.

Which All the Mods 10: To the Sky quests use Gravitational Modulating Additional Unit?

3 parts

In this pack's quest book, Gravitational Modulating Additional Unit appears in one chapter: Mekanism: Reactors. The quest for it is "Gravitational Modulating Additional Unit" quest, and it asks you to hand in Module Gravitational Modulating Additional Unit.[2]

Where it sits in the chapter

The book files the quest under the Bodyarmor group, alongside the other MekaSuit Bodyarmor module quests. Its listed prerequisite is "Modification Station" quest, the same one the other module quests list.[2]

The Modification Station quest is where the book explains how module units go into tools and armor. It says the station needs Energy, and that you can press the backslash key to open the configs of installed module units and enable or disable them.[2]

What the quest tells you

The quest text calls the module an upgrade to the Gravitational Modulating Unit and says both need to be installed to use them. The upgrades it names are: you instantly stop when you let go of your movement keys in flight, you can ascend faster, and you can fly always.[2]

The base module has its own quest, "Gravitational Modulating Unit" quest, in the same Bodyarmor group and also after the Modification Station quest. The quest text describes it as Creative Flight that uses Energy, with a flight speed you can raise in its configs.[2]

Order in the book

  1. "Modification Station" quest is the prerequisite for both flight module quests.[2]
  2. "Gravitational Modulating Unit" quest covers the base flight module.[2]
  3. "Gravitational Modulating Additional Unit" quest covers the extra flight upgrades. Its text says the base module has to be installed too.[2]
Watch out: The quest text for the base module says you can't use it with the Jetpack Unit. The Jetpack Unit quest, "Jetpack Unit" quest, says the same from its side: you can't use that unit while you have the Gravitational Modulating Unit on.[2]

The module is listed under Bodyarmor, so "MekaSuit Bodyarmor" quest is relevant too. In the book it comes after a quest in "Mekanism: Reactors", and its text says the MekaSuit Bodyarmor has the most module units of all the armor pieces.[2]
