What is Extreme Reactors?
3 parts
Extreme Reactors lets you build multiblock nuclear power plants. This pack ships version 1.21.1-2.4.24. You build Reactors and Turbines from casing blocks, rotor parts, ports and other components, and the mod simulates energy and fluid flow between them.[1][2]
The Reactor can generate power directly or vaporize coolants. That vapor can then drive a turbine rotor. A Reactor is built for either Passive Cooling or Active Cooling, and that choice decides what it generates. The mod's own guide is written for both veterans and newcomers to modded Minecraft.[2][3][4]
The machines you will meet
- Reactor: the core of your power setup, which needs Yellorium ingots for fuel.[2][5]
- Turbine: converts vapor into energy through a rotor assembly, with variants from basic to reinforced.[2]
- Fluidizer: turns solid fuels into fluids and mixes existing fuels to create new ones.[6]
- Reprocessor: reuses spent fuel by converting Reactor waste into new fuel sources or other resources.[7]
- Energizer: a multiblock built to store vast amounts of energy.[8]
Your first Reactor
The mod's guide has you build a Basic Reactor first. You need 22 Reactor Casing (Basic), plus one each of Reactor Controller (Basic), Reactor Control Rod (Basic), Reactor Fuel Rod (Basic), Reactor Solid Access Port (Basic) and Reactor Active Forge Energy Power Tap (Basic). Reactor Glass (Basic) is optional and can be replaced by another casing block.[5][9]
Where it fits in the pack
The pack has a dedicated quest chapter for this mod. It opens with a quest in "?", which asks for a Graphite Bar, then moves on to casing and glass in a quest in "?". After that the chapter splits the Reactor into its parts, and a quest in "?" asks for the full set of basic Reactor parts.[9]
Once that quest is done, the chapter branches out. One branch goes to the Fluidizer, starting with a quest in "?". Another goes through Cyanite Ingot in a quest in "?" to the Reprocessor and the Turbine. Later quests ask for Insanite Ingot, Inanite Ingot and an Insanite Block. A separate Blutonium Ingot quest, a quest in "?", appears in the nuclear age chapter.[9][10]
How do you get started with Extreme Reactors?
5 parts
Your first goal in this pack is a Basic Reactor. It's a multiblock machine, meaning you build it out of many blocks placed next to each other, and its main job is to produce a lot of energy. The Basic variant is the starter Reactor, with a maximum size of 5x5x5 blocks.[5][11]
The pack's quest chapter for this mod follows roughly the same order as below, so you can use the quests as a checklist.[9]
Step by step
- Make Graphite Bars. They are the first quest in the chapter, a quest in "?", and the Reactor Casing recipe needs them. The recipe is shown below for Graphite Bar.[9][12]
- Craft Reactor Casing. Reactor Casing (Basic) is a task in a quest in "?", together with Reactor Glass. Casing is used to craft the other Reactor parts too, so you will be making a lot of it.[9][13]
- Pick up the remaining Reactor parts. a quest in "?" covers Reactor Controller (Basic), a quest in "?" covers Reactor Control Rod (Basic) and Reactor Fuel Rod (Basic), and a quest in "?" covers Reactor Solid Access Port (Basic) and Reactor Active Forge Energy Power Tap (Basic). Their recipes are in the next section.[9]
- Build the Reactor. The quest a quest in "?" has the Casing, Controller, Solid Access Port, Power Tap, Control Rod and Fuel Rod as its tasks.[9]

The pack also has charcoal and blasting versions of this recipe.

Putting it together
For a Basic Reactor you need 22 Reactor Casing, 1 Controller, 1 Control Rod, 1 Fuel Rod, 1 Solid Access Port and 1 Active Forge Energy Power Tap. Glass is optional, and a Casing block can take its place. You can craft Reactor Glass (Basic) from a Casing if you want to see inside.[5][12]
Place the blocks following the diagram in the in-game guide, with the Fuel Rod in the center and a Casing below it. When you place the last block, the Reactor forms, and you can right-click the Controller to open its interface.[5]
Fuel and power
Right-click the Solid Access Port, set it to Inlet mode and put Yellorium ingots in the input slot, as the in-game guide describes. The Reactor quickly consumes them and turns them into fuel. Then open the Controller and turn the Reactor on.[5]
As the Reactor heats up, it slowly produces energy and fills its internal buffer. Connect an energy pipe or a machine to the Active Forge Power Tap, and the tap sends energy to the connected block, if that block can accept it.[5]
What comes next
After your first Reactor, the quest chapter moves on to Cyanite Ingot in a quest in "?", which leads into Turbines, and to the Fluidizer, starting with Fluidizer Controller in a quest in "?". The in-game guide suggests building more Reactors and Turbines once you've read the rest of the handbook.[5][9]
How does Extreme Reactors work?
10 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10: To the Sky 2.0.4 guide
Extreme Reactors is built around multiblock machines: you place casing, controllers, ports and internals next to each other, and the machine forms when the layout is valid. This pack has the Reactor and Turbine for power generation, plus the Energizer for storage and the Fluidizer and Reprocessor for fuel handling. This section explains how each one works and how you plug it into your base.[2][4][6][7][8]
Reactor: heat is everything
A Reactor makes energy or vapor from heat. Irradiated fuel heats up, moderators absorb part of the radiation and move heat away from the Fuel Rods toward the Casing, and the Casing Heat is what finally generates energy or vaporizes coolant. Radiation travels in every direction perpendicular to the Fuel Rod pile axis, so the way you lay out the interior matters.[15]
Moderators are blocks or fluids placed inside the Reactor. Some are better than others: air works, but barely, and rarer or pricier materials usually do better. Only valid moderators are allowed inside, and an invalid one stops the multiblock from forming. Turn on Advanced Tooltips (F3 + H) and valid moderators show a special tooltip.[16][17]
Fuel Rods sit in long piles, either all vertical or all horizontal, because mixing orientations is not allowed. The first rod in each pile must touch a Casing block, and the last must be followed by a Control Rod. That is why every Control Rod ends up on the same face of the Reactor. Control Rods absorb neutron radiation, so inserting them slows or stops fuel consumption, heat and waste. You can set the insertion percentage for one rod or for all of them.[18][19]
- Casing heat: high heat raises energy output and coolant conversion.[17]
- Core heat: the heat of the fuel. High heat raises fuel usage, and it is transferred to the casing at a rate set by your interior design.[17]
- Fuel richness: how heavily irradiated the core is. Higher levels reduce fuel burnup.[17]
Passive vs. active cooling
A Reactor works in one of two modes. A passively cooled Reactor generates energy directly into its internal buffer. Any energy that does not fit in that buffer is lost, so make sure something is draining it.[3][17][20]
An actively cooled Reactor needs at least two Fluid Ports: one set to insert coolant and one to extract the vapor. The vapor is piped to a Turbine to spin its rotor and is then condensed back into the coolant. Only valid coolants and vapors are accepted. By default the mod registers water as a coolant and steam as its vapor, but packs can change that.[21][22]
Feeding the Reactor
By default the mod registers four reactants: the fuels Yellorium and Blutonium, and their wastes Cyanite and Magentite. Ejected Cyanite turns into Cyanite Ingots. The Solid Access Port turns solid materials, usually ingots, into reactants. Inlet mode takes fuel and outlet mode outputs waste. Use the Extreme Wrench to toggle the mode, or use the port's GUI. A small material loss is unavoidable with this port.[14][23][24]
The Fuel Injection Port, a Reinforced-variant part, handles fluid reactants instead. It accepts fluid fuel in inlet mode and outputs fluid waste in outlet mode, with no material loss. The Reactor controller can also eject waste automatically as soon as possible or leave it for you to eject manually, from the screen or via Redstone or Computer Port signals.[17][25]
In this pack, Blutonium Ingots and Blocks convert using a plutonium ingot or storage block tag, and the pack changed both of those recipes. Cyanite, Magentite and Graphite conversions are unchanged mod recipes.[26]
Power taps and active vs. passive parts
Energy is converted on the fly by the Power Tap when it leaves the internal buffer, so the tap decides which power system the machine outputs. This mod ships a Forge Energy tap, and each Reactor or Turbine can use only one power system.[27][28][29]
Many parts come in passive and active forms. A passive part does nothing on its own, and the connected block must pull or push. An active part constantly tries to send or extract, and does not let the neighbor insert or extract. Mixing both kinds lets you tune your network. Your first Reactor uses the Reactor Active Forge Energy Power Tap (Basic), which pushes energy into any adjacent block that accepts it. The pack changed its recipe:[5][26][30]

Turbine: vapor to energy
A Turbine makes energy by spinning its Rotor. Vapor is pumped from the Vapor Fluid Tank into the rotor chamber at the flow rate you set in the Controller, and each Rotor Blade captures a little of it. With the Induction Coils engaged, energy depends on rotor speed and the coil blocks' average efficiency and drag.[31]
The Rotor is one Rotor Bearing, Rotor Shaft blocks running the full length to a Housing block on the far side, and Rotor Blades attached to the shaft. Only valid coil blocks may surround the shaft.[32][33][34][35]
- Engaged coils extract energy but drag on the Rotor. Disengaged coils extract nothing, but the Rotor spins faster.[17]
- Blades capture vapor fully only up to their capacity. Efficiency drops if the flow rises past it.[17]
- The Basic Turbine can use up to 1000 mB/t of vapor to spin its rotor.[36]
Automation
The Reactor Redstone Port accepts signals to turn the Reactor on or off, eject waste to Access Ports in outlet mode, or set the insertion of all Control Rods. It can also emit signals based on casing heat, core heat, fuel richness, fuel amount, waste amount and energy stored. You will usually need two or more ports to fully automate a Reactor.[37]
The Turbine Redstone Port can turn the Turbine on or off, engage or disengage the coils, and change the maximum vapor flow rate. It can emit signals for rotor speed, coolant amount, vapor amount and energy stored.[38]
For anything more complex, the Reinforced Computer Port exposes methods to a connected computer, which can query status and control behavior. The only supported computer mod is CC.[39][40]
Energizer: bulk energy storage
The Energizer is a multiblock for storing very large amounts of energy. The minimum size is 3x3x3, built from Energizer Casing and other device parts, with the whole interior filled with Energy Cell blocks.[8][26][41][42]
- Energizer Controller: at least one is required, placed on a vertical face but not on the frame. Its GUI turns the machine on or off and shows stored energy and flow in and out.[26][43]
- Energizerpowerport Fe (passive): inserts and extracts energy, but the connected block has to do the pulling or pushing.[26][44]
- Energizerpowerport Fe Active: pushes energy into any connected Forge Energy-compatible block that accepts it.[26][45]
- Energizerchargingport Fe: charges Forge Energy items from the stored energy. Put the item in the input slot, and it moves to the output slot when full. The eject button moves it immediately.[26][46]
- Energizer Computer Port: lets a computer query the status of the Energizer.[26][47]
The pack changed several Energizer recipes, including the casing and both power ports:[26]

Fluidizer: solids to fluids and mixing
The Fluidizer is a minimum 3x3x3 multiblock that converts solid fuels into fluids and mixes fuels to make new ones. All parts are mandatory except Glass and the Injectors. Glass can replace Casing on the faces but not on the frame.[6][48][49]
The number and type of Injectors set its mode. One Solid Injector turns a solid fuel source, like an ingot, into fluid fuel. Two Solid Injectors convert two solids and mix them into a new fuel. Two Fluid Injectors mix two existing fluid fuels.[50][51][52]
Exactly one Controller is needed, on a vertical face off the frame. Its GUI shows fluid, energy and job status. The Power Port accepts energy from any Forge Energy cable or generator. The Output Port lets you pipe the finished fuel out automatically.[53][54][55]
The pack changed the Fluidizer casing, controller and solid injector recipes, including the casing recipe that every other part is crafted from. Here is the Solid Injector:[26]

Reprocessor: reusing waste
The Reprocessor turns Reactor waste into new fuel sources or other resources. It has a 3x3 footprint and is 7 blocks high, made of Casing and one of each other part. Glass can replace Casing on the vertical faces but not on the frame.[7][56]
- Waste Injector: takes waste by hand through the GUI or from a pipe.[57]
- Fluid Injector: supplies the fluids needed, which can differ by waste type.[58]
- Power Port: accepts any Forge Energy cable or generator.[59]
- Output Port: extract the results by hand or with a pipe.[60]
- Collector: acquires the material from the interior when a job finishes.[61]
- Controller: turns the machine on or off and shows fluids, energy and job status.[62]
Size limits
The Basic Reactor has a maximum external size of 5x5x5, and the Basic Turbine 5x5x10. The Reinforced variants can be larger, with a cap of up to 256 blocks that is set in the mod's config.[11][36][63][64]
Unverified The pack's actual maximum size for Reinforced Reactors and Turbines is unverified, since no config file for this mod was available.
How do you progress through Extreme Reactors?
6 parts
The pack's Extreme Reactors quest chapter walks you up a clear ladder. You start with a small Basic reactor, unlock Cyanite, branch into the turbine, Fluidizer and Reprocessor, and finish with the Insanite items. Here is how each tier fits together.[9]
Tier 1: the Basic reactor
The Basic variant is the starter reactor, with a maximum external size of 5x5x5 blocks. The in-game guide's first build uses 22 Basic casing blocks plus a controller, a control rod, a fuel rod, a solid access port and an active Forge Energy power tap. The glass block is optional and can be swapped for another casing block.[5][11]
The first quest listed in the chapter asks for Graphite Bar, which you can get by smelting or blasting coal or charcoal. The Basic casing recipe uses graphite, so the rest of the Basic tier builds on it.[9][12]
- Hand in Graphite Bar for a quest in "?".[9]
- Craft Reactor Casing (Basic) and Reactor Glass (Basic) for a quest in "?".[9]
- Three quests open from there. They ask for the Reactor Controller (Basic), the Reactor Control Rod (Basic) with the Reactor Fuel Rod (Basic), and the Reactor Active Forge Energy Power Tap (Basic) with the Reactor Solid Access Port (Basic).[9]
- a quest in "?" wants the whole set of casing, controller, solid access port, power tap, control rod and fuel rod together. It unlocks the rest of the chapter.[9]

Tier 2: Cyanite and the Basic turbine
Once the Basic reactor set is done, a quest in "?" asks for Cyanite Ingot. This is the gate to the turbine, the Reprocessor and the Reinforced reactor casing.[9]
The Basic turbine is the starter turbine, with a maximum size of 5x5x10 blocks. It can use up to 1000 mB/t of vapor to spin its rotor. a quest in "?" asks for the Turbine Housing (Basic) and the Turbine Controller (Basic).[9][36]

Tier 3: Fluidizer, Reprocessor and Reinforced parts
Right after the Basic reactor set, a quest in "?" asks for the Fluidizer Controller. The Fluidizer is a multiblock with a minimum size of 3x3x3 that turns solid fuels into fluids or mixes fuels into new ones. It has three modes, set by the number and type of injectors: solid, solid mixing and fluid mixing.[6][9][48][50]
- a quest in "?": the Fluidizer Casing and Fluidizer Glass.[9]
- a quest in "?": the Fluidizer Output Port and Fluidizer Power Port.[9]

The Reinforced reactor opens in a quest in "?". It needs both the turbine controller quest and the Cyanite quest done, and asks for the Reactor Casing (Reinforced) and the Reactor Active Forge Fluid Port (Reinforced). The Reprocessor line
The Reprocessor reuses spent fuel by turning reactor waste into new fuel sources or other resources. The quests start with a quest in "?" for the Reprocessor Casing, then a quest in "?" for the Reprocessor Controller. After that come three more: the Reprocessor Collector with the Reprocessor Waste Injector, the power, fluid injector and output ports, and another casing.[7][9]
The quests then turn into an ingot ladder. a quest in "?" asks for Blutonium Ingot. a quest in "?" asks for Ludicrite Ingot and Ridiculite Ingot. a quest in "?" asks for Inanite Ingot. Each of these steps has its own Reprocessor recipe.[9][12]

A separate chapter also has a quest for Blutonium Ingot, a quest in "?", so you may meet this item outside the Extreme Reactors chapter.[10]
Endgame: Insanite
a quest in "?" asks for Insanite Ingot once the Reinforced fuel injection port is done. The last quest in the chapter, a quest in "?", asks for the Insanite Block. It requires both the Insanite ingot quest and the Inanite ingot quest.[9]

The Energizer is optional
None of the quests in the Extreme Reactors chapter ask for Energizer parts. The Energizer is a multiblock with a minimum size of 3x3x3, completely filled with Energy Cells, that stores large amounts of energy. The pack changed several of its recipes, including the casing, the FE charging port and the FE power port.[8][9][12][41]
How does Extreme Reactors work with other mods?
3 parts
Extreme Reactors in this pack connects to other mods in a few specific ways. The clearest link is Productive Bees, which has recipes that take Extreme Reactors materials. There is also a shared building quest that treats Extreme Reactors glass and Mekanism glass as interchangeable.[12][65]
Productive Bees
The pack changes how some Productive Bees recipes work, and they use Extreme Reactors items. First, there are bee conversion recipes. Anglesite Ore is converted into the Productive Bees Anglesite crystal, and Benitoite Ore into the Benitoite crystal. Both are marked as changed by the pack.[12]
Bee Conversion (productivebees)
Recipe id: productivebees:bee_conversion/reactors/anglesite_crystal_bee
Bee Conversion (productivebees)
Recipe id: productivebees:bee_conversion/reactors/benitoite_crystal_bee
Second, the Reprocessor from Extreme Reactors is used as a bee machine. The pack has Reprocessor recipes for the Inanite, Insanite, Ludicrite and Ridiculite bees. Each one takes a Productive Bees configurable bee together with an Extreme Reactors material. It returns the configurable bee plus a Spawn Egg Configurable Bee. The materials are Rossinite, Cyanite and Magentite. Like the conversions, all of these recipes are marked as changed by the pack.[12]

The Reprocessor itself is the multiblock that reuses spent fuel by turning Reactor waste into new fuel sources or other resources. If you follow the Extreme Reactors quest line, you build it after reaching Cyanite Ingot, so you can set up these bee recipes as you go.[7][9]
Mekanism glass
In the building tips chapter, a quest in "?" accepts several glass types for its task: Mekanism Generators reactor glass, Mekanism structural glass, and the Extreme Reactors reactor, turbine, Fluidizer and Reprocessor glass. That includes Reactor Glass (Basic), Reactor Glass (Reinforced), Turbine Glass (Basic), Turbine Glass (Reinforced), Fluidizer Glass and Reprocessor Glass. Whichever mod's multiblock you are building, you can use its glass for that quest.[65]
Power and fluid connections
Extreme Reactors uses Forge Energy, so its power ports work with other mods' machines and cables. The Active FE Power Port of the Energizer connects to any Forge Energy-compatible cable or machine and pushes energy to it automatically. The Fluidizer's Power Port accepts power from any Forge Energy-compatible cable or generator.[45][54]
Unverified The sources do not say what the four Productive Bees recipes produce in gameplay terms, or how the bees behave. No other cross-mod recipes for Extreme Reactors appear in the sources provided.
Which All the Mods 10: To the Sky quests use Extreme Reactors?
6 parts
Extreme Reactors has its own quest chapter in this pack, called "extreme_reactors". Quests in two other chapters also ask for its items. None of these quests has a title in the pack files, so I refer to them by their IDs. Every task in the Extreme Reactors chapter is an item task.[9][10][65]
The extreme_reactors chapter
The chapter opens with a quest in "?", which asks for Graphite Bar. Here is the order from there:[9]
- a quest in "?" asks for Reactor Casing (Basic) and Reactor Glass (Basic).[9]
- Several quests unlock once that one is done. a quest in "?" asks for Reactor Controller (Basic). a quest in "?" asks for Reactor Control Rod (Basic) and Reactor Fuel Rod (Basic). a quest in "?" asks for Reactor Active Forge Energy Power Tap (Basic) and Reactor Solid Access Port (Basic).[9]
- a quest in "?" comes after the controller quest. It asks for the full set of basic reactor parts: Reactor Casing (Basic), Reactor Controller (Basic), Reactor Solid Access Port (Basic), Reactor Active Forge Energy Power Tap (Basic), Reactor Control Rod (Basic) and Reactor Fuel Rod (Basic).[9]
After your first reactor
Three quests branch off the full-parts quest. a quest in "?" asks for more Reactor Casing (Basic). a quest in "?" starts the Fluidizer line with Fluidizer Controller. a quest in "?" asks for Cyanite Ingot and starts the turbine and reprocessor lines.[9]
Fluidizer line
Three quests follow the Fluidizer controller. a quest in "?" asks for Fluidizer Casing and Fluidizer Glass. a quest in "?" asks for Fluidizer Output Port and Fluidizer Power Port. a quest in "?" asks for Fluidizer Solid Injector and Fluidizer Fluid Injector. You need all of them done to unlock a quest in "?", which asks for Reactor Fuel Injection Port (Reinforced).[9]
Turbine line
a quest in "?" asks for Turbine Housing (Basic) and Turbine Controller (Basic). After it come several quests. a quest in "?" asks for Turbine Active Forge Fluid Port (Basic) and Turbine Active Forge Energy Power Tap (Basic). a quest in "?" asks for Turbine Glass (Basic). a quest in "?" asks for Turbine Rotor Bearing (Basic), Turbine Rotor Shaft (Basic) and Turbine Rotor Blade (Basic). a quest in "?" needs both the turbine controller quest and the cyanite quest, and asks for Reactor Casing (Reinforced) and Reactor Active Forge Fluid Port (Reinforced).[9]
Reprocessor line and the rare ingots
The reprocessor starts at a quest in "?" (Reprocessor Casing), which follows the cyanite quest. Next is a quest in "?" for Reprocessor Controller. Three quests then unlock. a quest in "?" asks for Reprocessor Collector and Reprocessor Waste Injector. a quest in "?" asks for Reprocessor Power Port, Reprocessor Fluid Injector and Reprocessor Output Port. a quest in "?" asks for more Reprocessor Casing.[9]
The reprocessor casing quest leads to a quest in "?" (Blutonium Ingot). That in turn leads to a quest in "?", which asks for Ludicrite Ingot and Ridiculite Ingot.[9]
The chapter ends with the insanite quests. a quest in "?" asks for Insanite Ingot and follows the reinforced fuel injection port quest. a quest in "?" asks for Inanite Ingot and needs both that port quest and the ludicrite and ridiculite quest. The final quest, a quest in "?", asks for Insanite Block and needs the insanite ingot and inanite ingot quests.[9]
Quests in other chapters
- a quest in "?" in the building_tips chapter accepts any one of several glass blocks. These include Reactor Glass (Basic), Reactor Glass (Reinforced), Turbine Glass (Basic), Turbine Glass (Reinforced), Fluidizer Glass and Reprocessor Glass, plus a couple of Mekanism glass blocks.[65]
- a quest in "?" in the the_nuclear_age chapter asks for Blutonium Ingot as well.[10]
