What is Extended Industrialization?

1 part

Extended Industrialization is an addon for Modern Industrialization. It adds new machines, power sources, tools and resources on top of the base mod. This pack includes version 1.15.0-1.21.1.[1][2]

The mod's feature list covers machines like the Alloy Smelter, Bending Machine, Brewery, Canning Machine, Composter, Farmer, Large Furnace, Large Macerator and Processing Array. It also has generators (Solar Boiler and Solar Panel), tools like the Steam Chainsaw, Ultimate Laser Drill and Nano Suit, and resources such as Mulch, Manure and NPK Fertilizer.[1]

Where the quest book puts it

The pack's quest book introduces the mod's machines in two chapters. In the steam chapter (47 quests, 11 of them not shown to me, so check the book for those) there are three quests for the mod.[3]

The electric chapter (38 quests) has three more. a quest in "?" asks for the Electric Bending Machine and comes after the Electric Compressor quest.[4]

a quest in "?" asks for the Large Electric Furnace along with 8 cupronickel coils and 14 heatproof machine casings. a quest in "?" asks for the Large Electric Macerator along with 22 Steel Plated Bricks. Both come after the Electronic Circuit quest, and both also ask for item and energy hatches.[4]

Tip: The Large Electric Furnace and Large Electric Macerator are multiblocks, so the quest asks you to gather the casing blocks and hatches too. Collect them before you start building.[4]

How do you get started with Extended Industrialization?

3 parts

Extended Industrialization is an addon for Modern Industrialization, so your first steps here are really the Modern Industrialization progression, with this mod's machines slotted in along the way. The pack's quest book gives you the order, so let's follow it.[1][3]

Steam age: your first Extended Industrialization machines

  1. Start the steam_age chapter with a quest in "?" and a quest in "?". Both come first, and a quest in "?" (4 of them) unlocks everything after it.[3]
  2. Make your steam basics: a quest in "?", then a quest in "?" and a quest in "?".[3]
  3. Upgrade them to this mod's big versions. a quest in "?" follows the Bronze Macerator quest, and a quest in "?" follows the Bronze Furnace quest. The items are Large Steam Macerator and Large Steam Furnace.[3]
  4. Grab a quest in "?" for the Bronze Bending Machine. It sits after an untitled checkmark quest in the same chapter.[3]

Later in the same chapter, the Steel Upgrade quest (a quest in "?") covers the upgrade item. You can use it to turn your Bronze Bending Machine into a Steel Bending Machine.[3][5]

Your two big electric goals come after a quest in "?". a quest in "?" asks for the Large Electric Furnace plus 8 Cupronickel Coils and 14 Heatproof Machine Casings. It also wants an item input hatch, an item output hatch and an energy input hatch. a quest in "?" asks for the Large Electric Macerator with the same three hatch types.[4]

The Large Electric Macerator quest also asks for 22 Steel Plated Bricks, so start making those early. The pack changed this recipe from the mod's own version, so don't rely on what you remember from other packs.[4][5]

Tip: There is also an assembler version of the Steel Plated Bricks recipe, and the pack changed that one too. If you have an assembler running, it is worth checking.[5]

Looking ahead

The quest book's the_nuclear_age chapter has a quest for the Quantum Nano armor set, which includes the Quantum Nano Helmet and Quantum Nano Boots. It comes after the Quantum Upgrade. Part of that chapter's quest text isn't covered here, so read the quest book for the rest of the details.[6]

How does Extended Industrialization work?

8 parts

Extended Industrialization is an addon for Modern Industrialization. It adds new machines, generators, tools and resources that build on that mod's systems. There is no guidebook or config file for it in this pack's sources, so this section sticks to what the names, descriptions and recipes show.[1]

Machine tiers

Many machines come in several tiers. The bending machine, composter and waste collector each have bronze, steel and electric versions. The solar boiler comes in bronze and steel, and the brewery in steel and electric. There are also steam and electric versions of the farmer, and large steam and large electric versions of the furnace and macerator.[7]

You can open a machine configuration panel from the machine's screen, and the mod adds a Machine Config Card item.[7]

Upgrading a machine

You don't rebuild a machine to move up a tier. You combine the lower-tier machine with a Steel Upgrade. For the bending machine, the Bronze Bending Machine becomes a Steel Bending Machine either in the crafting grid or in a packer.[5]

Farmer

The farmer is described as working through four tasks:[7]

  • Planting: when supplied with crops or saplings, it plants them on valid soil, and different planting modes plant them in different arrangements.[7]
  • Hydrating: when supplied with water, it hydrates tilled soil.[7]
  • Fertilizing: when supplied with a valid fluid fertilizer, it randomly bonemeals crops and saplings.[7]
  • Harvesting: when there is enough output space, it harvests fully grown crops and trees.[7]
Tip: Harvesting only happens when there is enough output space, so make sure the farmer has somewhere to put what it collects.[7]

Electric tools

The electric tools show their controls in their tooltips. Depending on the tool, you can swap between Fortune or Looting and Silk Touch, or between Looting and Beheading. You can change mining speed, and toggle 3x3 mining while holding the tool or while hovering over it in your inventory. The exact keys are shown in the tooltip, and the mod adds its own key binding category.[7]

The Silk Touch Module is made in an assembler.[5]

Assembler (modern_industrialization)

The Nano Saber is also an assembler recipe.[5]

Tesla network

The mod adds a Tesla Coil, a Tesla Tower and a Tesla Receiver. Tesla windings come in aluminum, annealed copper, copper, electrum and superconductor versions. There are Tesla receiver hatches for LV, MV, HV, EV and SV, plus a Tesla Handheld Receiver and a Tesla Interdimensional Upgrade.[7]

Two parts you can craft from the recipes: the Tesla Particle Generator comes from the crafting grid, and the EV Tesla Receiver Hatch is made in an assembler.[5]

How do you progress through Extended Industrialization?

5 parts

Extended Industrialization builds on Modern Industrialization, and in this pack its machines turn up inside four quest chapters: steam age, the electric age, age of oil and the nuclear age. Here is where each one lands, in the order you will meet them.[3][4][5][6][8]

Steam age

The steam age chapter has a quest in "?", which asks for the Bronze Bending Machine. The chapter also asks for steam multiblocks: a quest in "?" comes after the bronze macerator quest and wants the Large Steam Macerator, and a quest in "?" comes after the bronze furnace quest and wants the Large Steam Furnace.[3]

Age of oil

a quest in "?" asks for the Processing Array and unlocks after the turbo machine hull quest. Its build list includes 6 glass, 2 stainless steel machine casing pipes, 15 clean stainless steel machine casings, plus item input, item output and energy input hatches.[8]

The nuclear age

The nuclear age chapter has a quest in "?", which asks for the full quantum nano suit: Quantum Nano Helmet, Quantum Nano Chestplate, Quantum Nano Leggings and Quantum Nano Boots. It comes right after the quantum upgrade quest. For the boots, a packer combines Nano Boots with a quantum upgrade.[5][6]

How does Extended Industrialization work with other mods?

5 parts

Extended Industrialization is an addon for Modern Industrialization, so nearly every link to another mod runs through Modern Industrialization parts. In this pack you build a lot of its machines, tools and resources out of Modern Industrialization hulls, circuits, motors, pumps and fluids.[1][5]

Machines built on Modern Industrialization parts

The electric machines sit on top of Modern Industrialization's electric tier. The Electric Bending Machine is a good example, because it is made from Modern Industrialization components. It has both a hand-crafting recipe and an assembler recipe.[5]

Recipe id: extended_industrialization:machines/bending_machine/craft/electric

In the quest book this machine is in the chapter the_electric_age. The quest a quest in "?" comes right after a quest in "?" (the Electric Compressor).[4]

The bronze to steel machines work the same way. The Bronze Bending Machine upgrades to the Steel Bending Machine. The Bronze Composter and Steel Composter pair follows the same pattern, and an unpacker recipe reverses the upgrade.[5]

Packer (modern_industrialization)

Recipe id: extended_industrialization:machines/bending_machine/packer/upgrade_steel

The upgrade comes from Modern Industrialization's Steel Upgrade, and the unpacker recipe gives it back.

Large multiblocks

The Large Electric Furnace and Large Electric Macerator quests both come after the Electronic Circuit quest a quest in "?". The furnace quest a quest in "?" asks for 8 Modern Industrialization cupronickel coils, item and energy hatches, and 14 heatproof machine casings. The macerator quest a quest in "?" asks for hatches plus 22 Steel Plated Bricks.[4]

The pack changed the recipes for those bricks, both the crafting one and the assembler one, so don't assume the mod's default recipe applies.[5]

Which All the Mods 10: To the Sky quests use Extended Industrialization?

4 parts

This mod shows up in four quest chapters of the pack's quest book: steam_age, the_electric_age, age_of_oil and the_nuclear_age. Each time, the quest simply asks you to get the mod's machine or item in your inventory (and, for the multiblocks, to build them). Here they are chapter by chapter.[3][4][6][8]

Steam age

Three quests here are for this mod, and each one just asks for one item. a quest in "?" wants the Bronze Bending Machine and comes after an untitled checkmark quest.[3]

The electric age

The first one is early in the chapter: a quest in "?" asks for the Electric Bending Machine and comes after the Electric Compressor quest.[4]

The two big ones come later, and both unlock after the Electronic Circuit quest. They are multiblocks, so the quest asks for the parts as well as the controller.[4]

For the hatches, the quest accepts several tiers of each type, so you are not locked into one specific hatch.[4]

Age of oil

a quest in "?" is the one quest here for this mod, and it comes after the Turbo Machine Hull quest. It asks for the Processing Array, 6 glass, 2 stainless steel machine casing pipes, 15 clean stainless steel machine casings, plus an item input hatch, an item output hatch and an energy input hatch (again, several tiers are accepted).[8]

The nuclear age

The last one is a quest in "?", titled Quantum Nano Boots. It asks for the full set: Quantum Nano Helmet, Quantum Nano Chestplate, Quantum Nano Leggings and Quantum Nano Boots. It comes after the Quantum Upgrade quest, which in turn follows the Singularity and Quantum Circuit quests.[6]

Tip: The chapters hand off to each other. The first quests in age_of_oil and the_nuclear_age build on titles from earlier in the book, such as Silicon Dust (which is in the electric chapter) and Processing Unit, so work through the book in chapter order rather than skipping ahead.[4][6][8]

Which Extended Industrialization config options matter?

Same as in the All the Mods 10 0.38 guide

Extended Industrialization is an addon for Modern Industrialization that adds new machines, power sources, tools and resources, such as the Large Furnace, the Solar Panel and the Nano Suit. That is all the mod's project page tells us here, and it doesn't list any config options.[1]

Unverified I don't have this pack's config files for Extended Industrialization, so I can't say which options exist or which values the pack changed from the mod defaults. Until those files are available, treat any specific option name or value for this mod as unconfirmed.

What changed in Extended Industrialization between versions?

1 part

All the Mods 10: To the Sky 1.0.2 ships Extended Industrialization 1.15.0-1.21.1. The mod was already in the pack as of 1.0 or earlier, so this is the version you get in 1.0.2.[2]

Extended Industrialization 1.15.0-1.21.1

This is the only mod changelog I have for the guide, and it's the one that matches the pack. Here's what it changed:[2][9]

  • Added the Nano Saber and the Quantum Nano Saber.[9]
  • Fixed electric tool 3x3 mining so it no longer uses the targeted block's break speed for every block being mined.[9]
  • Fixed the block breaking animation resetting when you changed the targeted block face with the electric tool while not doing 3x3 mining.[9]
  • Fixed the honey bottle filling recipe in the canning machine so it uses the honey tag.[9]
  • Fixed the steam chainsaw tooltip so it is consistent with the steam drill tooltip.[9]
  • Added a PT_BR localization.[9]

Unverified No pack changelog entries for this mod were available, so any change the pack itself made to Extended Industrialization across its releases is unverified here.
