What is Crystalix?
1 part
Crystalix is a glass mod. This pack includes version 3.0.1, and it adds coloured glass blocks that each do something different. There are only 3 types of glass, but you can apply any colour to any of them, so the colour combinations are effectively endless.[1][2]
What makes the glass special is its properties, which you can mix however you like. Reinforced glass can't be destroyed by anything except a player mining it, and it takes 10 times longer to mine. Light glows at light level 15, and Redstone makes the block emit a signal of 15. Ghost lets chosen creatures walk straight through the block, and Waterloggable, Shadeless, Invisibility, Transparent and Conductor round out the list.[1]
You change all of this with the Crystalix Wand. Hold V to open the config window by default. Left click or scroll down to cycle forwards, and right click or scroll up to cycle backwards. Crouch to edit all connected blocks at once, hold CTRL to apply properties without the colour, and press X to copy the properties of the block you're targeting onto the wand.[1]
Where it sits in the quest book
The pack's quest book has a quest called "Crystalix" quest in the "Building Tips" chapter. The path leading to it starts at "Building Tips!" quest, then goes to "Blocks!" quest, then to the vanilla glass quest a quest in "Building Tips". Crystalix comes straight after that glass quest.[3]
The glass quest also leads to "Macaw's Windows" quest, so the book treats Crystalix as one of the fancier glass options for your builds. The book's description names three glass styles, Normal, Clear and Bordered, and highlights the Shadeless, Reinforced, Light and Ghost properties.[3]
The sources I have don't show whether any quest comes after the Crystalix quest. The "Building Tips" chapter has 67 quests and only part of it was available here, so check the quest book itself for the rest.[3]
How do you get started with Crystalix?
4 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10 5.5 guide
Crystalix adds colored glass blocks with many different functions. The basic loop is simple: craft some glass, craft the wand, then use the wand to change the color and special properties of the glass you've placed.[1]
Craft your first glass
There are only 3 kinds of glass: Crystalix Glass, Clear Crystalix Glass and Bordered Crystalix Glass. You can apply any color to any of them, so pick the look you like and don't worry about color yet.[1][4]

Craft the Crystalix Wand
The Crystalix Wand is what makes the mod work, because it's how you set a block's properties and color. Its recipe calls for one of the mod's blocks, so craft at least one piece of glass before you make it.[1][4]

Learn the wand controls
- Left clicking or scrolling down cycles forward through the options, and right clicking or scrolling up cycles backward.[1]
- Holding V opens the config window by default.[1]
- Crouching lets you edit all connecting blocks at once, which is handy for big windows.[1]
- Holding CTRL applies only the properties and leaves the color alone.[1]
- Pressing X copies the properties from the block you're currently targeting onto the wand.[1]
Try out some properties
You can mix and match properties however you want. Here are a few worth trying first:[1]
- Color opens a color picker so you can choose any color for your glass.[1][5]
- Light can make the block glow at light level 15, block light like tinted glass, or use Fake Light, which glows at 15 but still lets mobs spawn.[1]
- Redstone makes the block emit a redstone signal of 15, and Conductor lets redstone pass through it like a solid block.[1][5]
- Ghost lets certain things walk through the block, such as only players, only hostile mobs or everything.[1]
- Invisible stops the block from rendering at all, which is useful if you want the properties of the glass without having a visual block there.[1][5]
- Reinforced makes the block indestructible to everything, including the wither and the ender dragon, except for the player mining it. It also makes the block 10x harder to mine.[1]
How does Crystalix work?
8 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10 5.5 guide
Crystalix works a bit differently from most tech mods. Instead of machines, the whole mod is built around colored glass blocks with many different functions. You place the glass and then use the Crystalix Wand to set exactly how each block looks and behaves. Once you understand the wand and the property system, you understand the mod.[1]
The three glass types
Since version 2.3.0 there are only 3 different versions of glass: Crystalix Glass, Clear Crystalix Glass and Bordered Crystalix Glass. You can apply any color to any type of glass, so the number of possible combinations is basically endless. In this pack all three use the mod's own crafting recipes.[1][4]

The Crystalix Wand
The wand is your one tool for everything in this mod. It cycles through all the possible properties, and a config window lets you set the property you want to apply to a block. In this pack the wand also uses the mod's own crafting recipe.[1][4]

- Left click or scroll down to cycle forward through the options.[1][5]
- Right click or scroll up to cycle backward.[1][5]
- Hold V to open the config window. That is the default key, so check your controls if it doesn't work.[1]
- Crouch while using the wand to edit all connecting blocks at once, which is perfect for big windows and walls.[1]
- Hold CTRL to apply only the properties and leave the block's color alone.[1][5]
- Press X to copy the properties from the block you are looking at onto the wand, so you can match an existing build quickly.[1]
How properties work
Properties are the heart of Crystalix. You can mix and match them however you want on a single block, so one pane of glass can be colored, glowing, waterlogged and walk-through all at the same time.[1]
Looks and rendering
- Color opens a color picker screen where you can choose any color you like for the glass.[1][5]
- Transparent makes the glass texture fully transparent, so the color only shows on the few specks on the glass.[1][5]
- Invisibility stops the block from being rendered at all. This is handy when you want the glass's properties without a visible block in the way.[1][5]
- Shadeless removes the shadows and shade from the block.[1][5]
Light
The Light property cycles through four modes. None has no special effect. Light makes the block glow at a light level of 15. Dark blocks light the same way tinted glass does. Fake Light also glows at a light level of 15 but still lets mobs spawn, so keep that one in mind if you are building a mob farm or lighting a base.[1][5]
Redstone
- Redstone makes the block emit a redstone signal of 15, so the glass works as a power source.[1][5]
- Conductor makes the block conduct redstone through it like a solid block, which normal glass can't do.[1][5]
Ghost: walk-through glass
Ghost controls what can pass through the block. You can choose one of these modes: nothing, everything, only players, everything except players, only hostile mobs, everything except hostile mobs, only passive mobs, or everything except passive mobs. This makes it easy to build doors only you can walk through, or walls that keep mobs in or out.[1][5]
Durability and water
- Reinforced makes the block completely indestructible to everything, including the wither and the ender dragon. Only a player mining it can remove it, and it takes 10x longer to mine.[1][5]
- Waterloggable sets whether you can place water in the same block as the glass.[1][5]
How do you progress through Crystalix?
2 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10 5.5 guide
Crystalix doesn't have a long tiered progression in this pack. It has four craftable items: three decorative glass blocks and a wand. All four use shaped crafting table recipes, so you can make everything as soon as you've gathered the materials. None of them need a machine or special station.[4]
These are the mod's own recipes, and the pack doesn't change any of them. Whatever you've seen in other setups using the default Crystalix recipes should work the same here.[4]
The glass blocks
The three glass variants sit side by side rather than one after another. You don't need one to unlock the next, so craft whichever look suits your build. Each one takes a regular glass block and upgrades it with a different extra material. That means they're all early-game friendly.[4]
- Crystalix Glass is the standard variant of the set.[4]
- Clear Crystalix Glass is the clear version, for when you want the cleanest view through your windows.[4]
- Bordered Crystalix Glass is the bordered version, good for framing windows or marking panel edges.[4]

The Crystalix Wand
The Crystalix Wand is the closest thing this mod has to a top tier. Its recipe asks for more than the glass does, including one of the mod's own blocks. Plan to craft it after you've got the rest of the materials together.[4]

Which All the Mods 10: To the Sky quests use Crystalix?
2 parts
Crystalix has its own quest in the Building Tips chapter, and the Industrial Foregoing chapter mentions its glass as a tip. Neither chapter has a set of Crystalix-specific quests, so this section is short.[3][6]
Building Tips chapter
The Crystalix quest ("Crystalix" quest) sits in the glass branch of the chapter. The chain starts at "Building Tips!" quest, then goes to "Blocks!" quest, then to the glass quest a quest in "Building Tips". Crystalix hangs off that glass quest.[3]
It shares that spot with several other glass quests: "Macaw's Windows" quest, a quest in "Building Tips", "Railcraft Glass" quest, "XyCraft Glass" quest, "Glassential" quest and "Chipped Glass" quest. You can do them in any order, since they all unlock from the same glass quest.[3]
The quest asks you to hand in an item. The quest book doesn't name a specific one here.[3]
The quest text explains what the mod is about: it adds glass in three styles.[3]
- Normal has no borders or pixels, so it is entirely clear and a single colour.[3]
- Clear has the borders but no pixels near the corners, so the inside is fully clear.[3]
- Bordered uses the normal Minecraft glass pattern, with borders and pixels near the corners.[3]
Each Crystalix glass also has properties. Shadeless affects how it reacts to shaders and Minecraft lighting. Reinforced affects blast resistance. Light decides whether it gives light, ignores light, or lets light in like normal glass. Ghost changes who can walk through the glass, and it has the most settings.[3]
Industrial Foregoing chapter
Crystalix comes up again in the checkmark quest a quest in "Industrial Foregoing", which is about getting your first Ether Gas. It unlocks after a quest in "Industrial Foregoing", "Laser Drill" quest and a quest in "Industrial Foregoing". It is a read-and-tick quest, so you don't hand in anything.[6]
The quest explains that Ether Gas comes from drilling a Wither with a Fluid Drill and a Purple Lens. The Stasis Chamber freezes anything on top of it in a 3x3 area, including the Wither. Because of the danger, the quest recommends Wither-proof glass, and one of its two suggestions is Crystalix Glass with Reinforced Mode enabled.[6]
The chapter's next step is "Ether Gas" quest, which unlocks after the Purple Lens and Laser Drill quests. "Supreme Machine Frame" quest follows it.[6]
What changed in Crystalix between versions?
1 part
Crystalix has been in the pack since All the Mods 10: To the Sky 1.0 or earlier. Version 2.0.4 ships with Crystalix 3.0.1.[2]
Mod changelog notes
- Version 2.4.1 added the ability to block or allow only adult mobs. The opposite then applies to baby mobs.[7]
The pack changelogs have no entries for this mod, so there is nothing to report about how Crystalix changed between pack releases.[2]
Unverified Changes in Crystalix versions other than 2.4.1, including 3.0.1, could not be confirmed from the available changelogs.
