What is Chisel Reborn?

2 parts

Chisel Reborn adds lots of blocks that are variations of vanilla blocks. In the pack's quest book it is described as a mod based off Chiseled, and the whole idea is using the Chisel to change the design of blocks you already have. This pack ships Chisel Reborn 2.0.0+mc1.21.1.[1][2][3]

How the Chisel works

Right Click with the Chisel to open its GUI. You can put up to a stack of blocks into it, choose the design you want, and take the result out. You can also leave the blocks in the Chisel, though the quest book admits it doesn't see why you would.[3]

Want something quicker? Left Click a block with the Chisel to change its design without opening the GUI. The quest also says this Chisel has no durability, so you won't be replacing it.[3]

Where it sits in the quest book

The quest "Chisel Reborn" quest is in the "Building Tips" chapter, which has 66 quests. Its task is to get the Chisel. It comes right after "Changing Blocks" quest, which in turn follows "Tools!" quest, and that follows "Building Tips!" quest.[3]

"Changing Blocks" quest is about changing blocks you already have into ones with different shapes, designs, and even entirely new blocks. The Chisel Reborn quest is one way to do that. Another quest that follows "Changing Blocks" quest is "Chipped" quest, a different block-changing mod that uses stations instead of a handheld tool.[3]

Of the quests shown for this chapter, none lists the Chisel Reborn quest as its prerequisite. Half of the chapter's quests were too long to include here, so check the quest book itself for anything further along.[3]

How do you get started with Chisel Reborn?

3 parts

Chisel Reborn is built around one tool: the Chisel. In the pack's quest book it has its own quest, "Chisel Reborn" quest, in the "Building Tips" chapter. You reach it by working down a short chain, so that's the order to follow.[3]

Your first steps

  1. Start with "Building Tips!" quest, the opening quest of the chapter. The Tools, Blocks and Decoration quests all come after it.[3]
  2. Do "Tools!" quest next. It asks you for a stick and starts the branch about building tools.[3]
  3. Open "Changing Blocks" quest, which comes after Tools. It explains that some mods can turn blocks you already have into ones with different shapes, designs, or even entirely new blocks. The Chisel Reborn quest comes right after it.[3]
  4. Craft the Chisel, then claim "Chisel Reborn" quest. The recipe is just below.[3][4]

The pack changed this recipe, so don't rely on the mod's default.

Using the Chisel

Right Click with the Chisel to open its GUI. Put in up to a stack of blocks, pick the design you want, and take them out. You can also leave the blocks inside the Chisel, though the quest says it doesn't see why you would.[3]

For a quicker route, Left Click a block with the Chisel. That changes its design without opening the GUI.[3]

Tip: Don't worry about wear: the quest says this Chisel doesn't have durability.[3]

The mod's language file lists variant names such as Array Stone, Braid Oak Planks and Bevel Creeper Sandstone, which gives you an idea of the designs on offer.[5]

Other ways to change blocks

Chisel Reborn isn't the only quest after Changing Blocks. "Rechiseled" quest and "Chipped" quest also follow it, and so does "Framed Blocks" quest. Each takes a different approach to changing blocks, so check them once you've got your Chisel.[3]

How does Chisel Reborn work?

1 part

Same as in the All the Mods 10: To the Sky 2.0.4 guide

Chisel Reborn is a block-variation mod, not a tech mod. It adds lots of blocks that are variations of vanilla blocks, so there are no machines, multiblocks, power or fluid systems to set up.[1]

The language file shows how those variations are organised. Each style comes in versions for many base materials: Array, Braid and the Chaotic styles (Chaotic Bricks, Medium Chaotic and Small Chaotic) are all offered for stone, concrete colours, sandstone and more. Braid also covers the wooden planks. Other styles have fewer versions, such as Bubble Glass and Bubble Stone, or Bismuth Diamond Block and Bismuth Emerald Block.[5]

Getting the tool

Everything starts with the Chisel. The pack changes its recipe from the mod's default, so use the in-pack recipe below rather than anything you remember from other modpacks.[6]

Unverified How the chisel's screen lets you pick a variant, and any further mechanics such as durability or automation, are not explained in the sources available for this guide.

How do you progress through Chisel Reborn?

3 parts

In this pack, Chisel Reborn shows up as a single tool: the Chisel. The quest book asks you to get the Chisel and nothing more, so progression here is about when you pick it up and how you use it.[3]

Where it sits in the quest book

The quest "Chisel Reborn" quest is in the Building Tips chapter. It asks you to get the Chisel and comes right after "Changing Blocks" quest. That quest follows "Tools!" quest, which follows the chapter's opening quest, "Building Tips!" quest.[3]

"Changing Blocks" quest is about changing the blocks you already have into ones with different shapes, designs, or even entirely new blocks. Other quests branch from it too: "Chipped" quest, "Framed Blocks" quest and "Rechiseled" quest.[3]

Crafting the Chisel

The pack changed the Chisel's crafting recipe, so don't rely on what you remember from other modpacks. This is the in-pack recipe:[4]

This is the pack's changed recipe for the Chisel.

Using it

  • Right Click with the Chisel to open its GUI. You can put up to a stack of blocks in, pick the design you want, and take the blocks out. You can also leave them in the Chisel.[3]
  • Left Click a block with the Chisel to change its design without opening the GUI.[3]
  • The quest book says this Chisel has no durability.[3]

The quest book describes Chisel Reborn as another mod based on Chiseled. If you want other ways to change block designs, the sibling quests above cover Chipped, Framed Blocks and Rechiseled.[3]

Which All the Mods 10: To the Sky quests use Chisel Reborn?

3 parts

Chisel Reborn shows up in one quest chapter in this pack: "Building Tips!" quest. That chapter is the building tips section of the quest book, and the mod has a single quest there.[3]

The path to the Chisel quest

  1. Start with "Building Tips!" quest, the opening quest of the chapter.[3]
  2. Next is "Tools!" quest, which comes after the opening quest and asks you to start with a Stick.[3]
  3. After that comes "Changing Blocks" quest. Its text is about changing the Blocks you already have into different shapes, designs and even entirely new Blocks.[3]
  4. Then you reach "Chisel Reborn" quest, which asks you to get the Chisel.[3]

What the Chisel Reborn quest says

The quest describes the mod as another one based on Chiseled. The core idea is using the Chisel tool to change the designs of some Blocks.[3]

Right Click with the Chisel to open its GUI. You can put up to a stack of Blocks into it, choose the design you want, and take them out. You can also leave the Blocks in the Chisel, though the quest says it doesn't see why you would.[3]

Tip: You can also Left Click a Block with the Chisel to change its design without opening the GUI. The quest also notes this Chisel doesn't have Durability, so it won't wear out.[3]

Other quests at the same step

"Changing Blocks" quest leads to a few quests besides Chisel Reborn, and they sit next to it in the chapter. They are "Rechiseled" quest, "Chipped" quest and "Framed Blocks" quest. All of them are about changing or reshaping Blocks in different ways.[3]
