What is Chisel Reborn?

2 parts

Chisel Reborn is a building mod. It adds lots of blocks that are variations of vanilla blocks, so you can give your bases, towers and sky islands more variety than the plain vanilla palette allows.[1]

The pack ships Chisel Reborn 2.0.0 for Minecraft 1.21.1 on NeoForge, and it has been included since the pack's 1.0 release or earlier.[2]

Who it's for

It's for anyone who cares how their builds look. It doesn't add machines or power, so it won't speed up your tech progression. It's purely about making what you build look better.[1]

Where it fits in the pack

The mod appears in the quest book, in the building_tips chapter. There, a quest asks you to get the Chisel, and it unlocks after an earlier quest in the same chapter. You'll find it as a quest in "?".[3]

Unverified The sources don't show Chisel Reborn on the ATM Star path, and they don't say what the Chisel needs to be crafted or how its GUI works in this pack. Check the in-game recipe viewer for the exact recipe. This site does hold All the Mods 10: To the Sky's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.

How do you get started with Chisel Reborn?

3 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 4.5 guide

Chisel Reborn is all about decoration. It adds lots of blocks that are variations of vanilla blocks, so your builds can have more texture and detail than plain stone and planks.[1]

Step 1: Craft the Chisel

Your first item is the Chisel. It's also the item the building tips chapter of the questbook asks you for. This pack changed the Chisel's recipe, so don't go by what you remember from other packs or older versions. Check the in-pack recipe below.[4][5]

Step 2: Tick off the quest

Once the Chisel is in your inventory, you can complete a quest in "?" in the building tips chapter. Its only task is to obtain the Chisel, so crafting it is all you need to do. The quest has a prerequisite quest, so it may stay locked until you've finished the one before it.[5]

Step 3: Look at the block variants

With the Chisel done, have a look at the decorative blocks the mod adds. For example, it includes Reinforced Cobble Stone and Reinforced Cobble Dirt.[1][6]

Unverified The sources don't confirm how the Chisel's interface works in this version, such as which slots you use or whether you can convert whole stacks at once. They also don't show which vanilla blocks can be chiseled or how to get the reinforced cobble blocks. Experiment in-game or check your recipe viewer for the details. This site does hold All the Mods 10: To the Sky's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.

How does Chisel Reborn work?

1 part

Same as in the All the Mods 10: To the Sky 2.0.4 guide

Chisel Reborn is a block-variation mod, not a tech mod. It adds lots of blocks that are variations of vanilla blocks, so there are no machines, multiblocks, power or fluid systems to set up.[1]

The language file shows how those variations are organised. Each style comes in versions for many base materials: Array, Braid and the Chaotic styles (Chaotic Bricks, Medium Chaotic and Small Chaotic) are all offered for stone, concrete colours, sandstone and more. Braid also covers the wooden planks. Other styles have fewer versions, such as Bubble Glass and Bubble Stone, or Bismuth Diamond Block and Bismuth Emerald Block.[7]

Getting the tool

Everything starts with the Chisel. The pack changes its recipe from the mod's default, so use the in-pack recipe below rather than anything you remember from other modpacks.[8]

Unverified How the chisel's screen lets you pick a variant, and any further mechanics such as durability or automation, are not explained in the sources available for this guide.

How do you progress through Chisel Reborn?

2 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 4.5 guide

Progression with Chisel in this pack is short and simple. Everything starts with the Chisel itself, and it's the only Chisel Reborn item with a crafting recipe in this pack's recipe list. There's no ladder of chisel upgrades to work through here.[4]

Crafting your Chisel

The Chisel is a shaped crafting table recipe, and this pack has changed it from the mod's default. So if you remember a different recipe from another pack or from vanilla Chisel Reborn, check the in-pack version below before you go gathering materials. The good news is that it accepts any iron ingot from the shared iron ingot tag, so iron from other mods should work too.[4]

Where it shows up in the quests

The Chisel appears in the pack's quest book in the "building_tips" chapter. The quest a quest in "?" asks you to obtain a Chisel, and it has a prerequisite, so you'll unlock it after finishing an earlier quest in that chapter.[5]

Tip: The Chisel sits in the building tips chapter, not in a main progression line. Treat it as a decoration tool you can grab whenever you want to start styling your base, not as a gate you need to clear.[5]

Unverified The provided pack files don't show any higher-tier chisels (such as diamond or hitech versions), extra Chisel Reborn machines, or quest rewards for this quest. Whether they exist in this pack, and how they would be unlocked, is unverified.

How does Chisel Reborn work with other mods?

Same as in the All the Mods 10 4.5 guide

Chisel Reborn is all about decoration: it adds lots of blocks that are variations of vanilla blocks. That means its connections tend to come through building rather than through recipe chains with other mods.[1]

In this pack, Chisel Reborn shows up in the quest book's building tips chapter. The quest a quest in "?" asks you to get a Chisel, so the pack points you to this mod as one of your building tools.[5]

Which All the Mods 10: To the Sky quests use Chisel Reborn?

1 part

Same as in the All the Mods 10 4.5 guide

Chisel Reborn has a small footprint in this pack's questbook. It shows up in just one quest, in the building_tips chapter, so you won't find a dedicated Chisel chapter to work through.[5]

Building tips chapter

The Chisel Reborn quest is a quest in "?". It has no title in the questbook, and it asks for exactly one thing: get your hands on a Chisel. That's your only task.[5]

This quest isn't available right away. It unlocks once you've completed an earlier quest in the building tips chapter, so work through that one first.[5]
