Applied Flux is a mod in All the Mods 10: To the Sky 2.1.0, where it is version 1.21-2.1.5-neoforge. Store and transfer energy with ME network (Summary from the mod's Modrinth page.)

What is Applied Flux?

3 parts

Applied Flux adds cells that store energy (FE) inside your ME network. A Flux Accessor then lets you move that stored energy in and out of the network. The mod's own guide sums it up as managing your power system with AE.[1][2][3]

This pack includes Applied Flux 1.21-2.1.5-neoforge.[4]

What you get

  • Flux Cells: ME FE Storage Cells are the primary way to store power with this mod. Their capacities are based on bytes, just like item and fluid storage cells.[5]
  • Portable Flux Cells: they are a quarter of the size of the normal FE cells, and they can automatically charge the items in your inventory once the right addition is installed in them.[6]
  • Flux Accessor: it inputs and outputs the energy stored in your ME network. By default it has no I/O limits, which can be changed in the Applied Flux config. It has a fast mode and a normal mode.[3]
  • Terminal support: your terminal shows the stored energy as a green fluid. It is not a real fluid, so buckets will not work, but batteries and electric tools can fill it or drain it.[7]

Capacity

By default, every byte of a cell holds 1,048,576 FE, and that value can be changed in the Applied Flux config. At those default settings the largest cell holds 281,474,976,710,656 FE, which the mod's own page describes as over 200 trillion FE.[1][5]

Watch out: The Flux Accessor works with the FE stored in your FE Storage Cells. It does not use the energy in AE2 Energy Cells.[3]

Where it fits in the pack

In this pack's quest book, Applied Flux shows up in the Productive Bees chapter. The quest "Redstone Crystal Bee" quest asks you to submerge a Redstone Bee Egg, Fluix Crystal and Glowstone in water, and one of its tasks is Charged Redstone Crystal Block. That quest comes after another quest in the same chapter.[8]

The mod's own guide describes redstone crystals as a dense way to store energy, made by combining a redstone block with fluix crystal and glowstone.[9]

Unverified Whether the ATM Star path uses Applied Flux is not shown in the sources here. Check the ATM Star chapter of the pack's quest book for that.

How do you get started with Applied Flux?

5 parts

Applied Flux lets your ME network store energy (FE) in special cells, and then pull it back out when you need it. The order below gets you from nothing to a working energy store.[1][2]

Step one: Insulating Resin

Start with Insulating Resin. It stops stored energy from leaking, and you need it to make FE cell housing, so every cell depends on it.[10]

Crafting Shapeless

Recipe id: appflux:insulating_resin

Step two: cell housing and your first storage component

Next, craft an ME FE Cell Housing. This is the shell that every FE cell is built around.[10][11]

Then make the smallest component, the 1k ME Energy Storage Component. The pack changed this recipe, so follow the recipe below, not what you may remember from the mod's defaults.[11]

Step three: your first FE cell

Combine the housing and the component to get a 1k ME FE Storage Cell. The cell is your main way to store power with Applied Flux. Its capacity is measured in bytes, like AE2's item and fluid cells, and each byte holds 1,048,576 FE by default. That value can be changed in the Appflux config.[5][11]

Crafting Shapeless

Recipe id: appflux:1k_fe_cell_assemble

There is also a one-step crafting recipe that skips the separate housing.[11]

Tip: The energy in these cells shows up in your terminals as green fluid. It isn't real fluid, so buckets won't work on it. Fill or drain it with an energy container such as a battery or an electric tool.[7]

Step four: get energy in and out with a Flux Accessor

The Flux Accessor can input and output energy stored in your ME network. It has no I/O limits by default, but you can change that in the Appflux config. It also has a fast mode and a normal mode. Fast mode outputs energy every tick, which can cause lag if you lean on it heavily. Normal mode bases its output on the target's stored energy and won't cause lag.[3]

It pulls energy from the network, but it needs an external cable to push energy out. The recipe uses an Energy Processor, which routes energy flows in the ME system, and all energy devices need one.[11][12][13]

If you want it as a cable-style part, there is a conversion recipe for Flux Accessor.[11]

How does Applied Flux work?

7 parts

Applied Flux lets your ME network store and move ordinary FE power. Energy sits in special cells on your network, and you pull it back out with a Flux Accessor or directly in a terminal.[1][2]

FE storage cells

The ME FE Storage Cell is the main way to store power with this mod. Like item and fluid cells, their capacities are based on bytes. By default every byte holds 1,048,576 FE, and the in-game guide says that value can be changed in the Appflux config.[5]

At default settings the guide's capacity table runs from 1,073,741,824 FE for the smallest cell up to 281,474,976,710,656 FE for the largest. That is why the mod advertises over 200 trillion FE in a single cell.[1][5]

A cell is made from an ME FE Cell Housing and a matching ME Energy Storage Component. The 16k ME FE Storage Cell is a good example: you combine a 16k ME Energy Storage Component with a ME FE Cell Housing.[5][11]

Crafting Shapeless

Recipe id: appflux:16k_fe_cell_assemble

The 16k cell is a shapeless combination of its component and the housing.

The components step up through the tiers. The 16k component is built on top of the 4k one and also needs an Energy Processor.[11]

Portable FE cells

Portable FE cells are a quarter of the size of the normal FE cells. In exchange, you can install an item in them and they will automatically charge the items in your inventory.[6]

Using stored energy in terminals

Terminals show your stored energy as a green fluid. It is not a real fluid, so buckets won't work on it. Instead, use an energy container such as a battery or an electric tool to fill energy into the network or drain it out.[1][7]

Flux Accessor and Induction Card

The Flux Accessor inputs and outputs the energy stored in your ME network. Its tooltip says it pulls energy from the network and needs an external cable to push energy onward. By default it has no I/O limits, and the guide says this can be changed in the Appflux config.[3][13]

It has two modes, toggled in its screen. In fast mode it outputs energy every tick, which may cause lag if it is heavily used. In normal mode its output depends on the target's stored energy, which won't cause lag.[3][13]

Watch out: The energy the Flux Accessor handles is the FE stored in your FE Storage Cells. It is not the energy held in AE2's regular Energy Cells.[3]

The Induction Card lets AE devices accept or send energy. Its recipe uses a Flux Accessor.[11][13][15]

Tip: If you want to output energy through a device's config slot, you need to mark FE in that slot. Right-click the slot with an energy container to do it.[14]

Energy Processors

The Energy Processor manages energy flows in the ME system, and all energy devices need one to route energy. It is made in an inscriber using a Printed Energy Circuit, and that printed circuit is stamped with the Inscriber Energy Press.[11][12]

Redstone crystals

Redstone stores energy well but is too loose to put in a cell. The fix is the Redstone Crystal, which stores a large amount of energy in very little space. The guide says it is made by crystallizing a redstone block together with fluix crystal and glowstone.[9]

How do you progress through Applied Flux?

6 parts

Applied Flux is all about storing FE inside your ME network. The path here is a ladder: redstone crystals, then the Energy Processor, then resin and cell housing, then storage components and FE cells from 1k up to 256M, with the Flux Accessor to get the power back out. Several steps use recipes the pack has changed, so follow the recipe blocks below rather than what you remember from other packs.[2][5][11]

In the pack's quest book, this mod shows up in the Productive Bees chapter, in the quest "Redstone Crystal Bee" quest. It comes after another quest in that chapter, and the rest of your progress here is driven by recipes.[8]

Redstone crystals

Everything starts with Redstone Crystal. A redstone block is crystallized with fluix crystal and glowstone, and the crystal stores a large amount of energy in very little space. You then charge it into Charged Redstone Crystal, which the later steps use.[9][11]

The pack also changed the Advanced AE reaction recipes for both crystals, and a Productive Bees centrifuge recipe that yields both. The bee route ties into "Redstone Crystal Bee" quest: submerge Redstone Bee Egg, Fluix Crystal and Glowstone in water. Its tasks include handing in a Charged Redstone Crystal Block.[8][11]

The Energy Processor

The Energy Processor routes energy through the ME system, and every energy device needs one. You make it in the inscriber from a Printed Energy Circuit, and printing that circuit uses an Inscriber Energy Press.[11][12]

Getting the power out

The Flux Accessor inputs and outputs the energy stored in your ME network. That is the FE in your FE cells, not the energy in AE2 Energy Cells. By default it has no I/O limits, which you can change in the Applied Flux config. It also has a fast mode and a normal mode. Fast mode outputs energy every tick and can cause lag if you use it heavily, while normal mode outputs based on the target's stored energy and won't.[3]

How does Applied Flux work with other mods?

5 parts

Applied Flux builds on Applied Energistics 2, so most of its recipes use AE2 parts. A few other mods and the pack's own scripts also feed into its progression. Here is where everything connects.[2][11]

Applied Energistics 2

Every FE cell tier is built from an Applied Flux storage component plus Quartz Glass. The components themselves lean on AE2 too. The 1k component uses a Logic Processor. The 4k to 256k components use Vibrant Quartz Glass and the Energy Processor. From 1M upward they use Vibrant Quartz Glass and an Engineering Processor.[11]

Portable FE cells are built around an ME Chest and an AE2 energy cell. The lower tiers (1k to 256k) use Energy Cell and the tiers from 1M up use Dense Energy Cell. Disassembly recipes also exist for every portable tier.[11]

The Flux Accessor is crafted with an Energy Acceptor, and the Induction Card is made from an Basic Card plus the accessor.[11]

Making the Energy Processor

The Energy Processor matters a lot: all energy devices need it to route energy. Its inscriber recipe uses Printed Silicon and the Printed Energy Circuit.[11][12]

Productive Bees quest

The quest "Redstone Crystal Bee" quest sits in the Productive Bees chapter. Its description says to submerge Redstone Bee Egg, Fluix Crystal and Glowstone in water. Its tasks accept a Productive Bees item (a configurable comb or honeycomb, a configurable bee spawn egg, or a bee cage) and a Charged Redstone Crystal Block.[8]

Which All the Mods 10: To the Sky quests use Applied Flux?

1 part

Applied Flux appears in a single quest in this pack, and it sits in the Productive Bees chapter. There is no dedicated Applied Flux chapter, so you meet the mod while you are already working through the bee quests.[8]

Productive Bees: Redstone Crystal Bee

The quest is "Redstone Crystal Bee" quest. Its description reads: Submerge Redstone Bee Egg, Fluix Crystal and Glowstone in water.[8]

For the tasks, you need to hand in any of these Productive Bees items: Honeycomb, Comb Block, Spawn Egg Configurable Bee, Bee Cage or Sturdy Bee Cage. You also need the Charged Redstone Crystal Block.[8]

For order, this quest comes after another quest in the same Productive Bees chapter, so you unlock it as you progress through the bee line.[8]
