What is RFTools Storage?
RFTools Storage is an addon for RFTools Base. It adds the storage system and everything related to it, and it is meant to be used together with the other RFTools addons.[1]
The mod depends on RFTools Base and McJtyLib, so you need both of them installed alongside it.[1]
The project page says remote storage and the storage scanner are planned for the future, with the aim of growing the mod into a fully featured storage system mod. Those are plans, so don't count on them being in the pack.[1]
This pack ships RFTools Storage 1.21-6.0.5, and the mod has been in the pack since 0.3.0-beta or earlier.[2]
How do you get started with RFTools Storage?
4 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide
RFTools Storage is an addon for RFTools Base that adds the storage system, so some of the recipes here use RFTools Base items. The chain is short: make the Modular Storage, make a storage module, then upgrade and add extras as you need them.[1][3]
Step 1: the Modular Storage
Start with the Modular Storage. Its recipe uses a Machine Frame from RFTools Base, so make that first. The pack changed this recipe, so follow the one below and not whatever you remember from the mod's defaults.[3]
Crafting Shaped
| any redstone dust | any chest | any redstone dust |
| any redstone dust | any redstone dust |
Recipe id: rftoolsstorage:modular_storage
This recipe is changed by the pack.
Step 2: your first storage module
Next, craft a Tier 1 Storage Module. This is the Tier 1 module, and the pack has changed its recipe too.[3]
Crafting Shaped
| Empty slot | any chest | Empty slot |
| any gold nugget | any iron ingot | any gold nugget |
| any redstone dust |
Recipe id: rftoolsstorage:storage_module0
This recipe is changed by the pack.
Step 3: upgrade the module when you need more
Higher tiers are crafted from the tier below, so keep your Tier 1 module and don't throw it away. The Tier 2 Storage Module is built from a Tier 1 module, and the Tier 3 Storage Module from a Tier 2 module. Both are the mod's own recipes, not changed by the pack.[3]
This is the mod's own recipe, not changed by the pack.
This is the mod's own recipe, not changed by the pack.
The top tier, the Tier 4 Storage Module, is the most demanding. It is built from a Tier 3 module and also needs an Infused Diamond from RFTools Base, so plan for that before you commit. This one is also the mod's own recipe.[3]
This is the mod's own recipe, not changed by the pack.
Step 4: extras
Once the basics are done, three more items are worth knowing about: the Storage Control Screen Module, the Dump Screen Module and the Storage Scanner. The Storage Scanner uses a Machine Frame, like the Modular Storage does. The pack changed all three recipes.[3]

Unverified This pack has no quests, in-jar guidebook or lang descriptions for this mod, so the sources here do not show how modules are used with the Modular Storage, what each extra module does in practice, or how much each tier holds.
How does RFTools Storage work?
3 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide
RFTools Storage is an addon for RFTools Base that adds the storage system and everything related to it. It depends on RFTools Base and McJtyLib, so you need both in the pack for it to work. The project page still describes the mod as alpha.[1]
The sources for this pack don't include a guidebook, tooltips or config files for this mod. So here I can only explain how the pieces fit together from their recipes, and I won't guess at power use, GUI behavior or automation.[1][3]
The building blocks
The core block is the Modular Storage. The pack changed its recipe, and it uses a Machine Frame from RFTools Base. Here is the pack's version:[3]
Crafting Shaped
| any redstone dust | any chest | any redstone dust |
| any redstone dust | any redstone dust |
Recipe id: rftoolsstorage:modular_storage
This recipe is changed by the pack.
The storage modules are separate items in four tiers: Tier 1 Storage Module, Tier 2 Storage Module, Tier 3 Storage Module and Tier 4 Storage Module. The pack changed the Tier 1 recipe.[3]
Crafting Shaped
| Empty slot | any chest | Empty slot |
| any gold nugget | any iron ingot | any gold nugget |
| any redstone dust |
Recipe id: rftoolsstorage:storage_module0
This recipe is changed by the pack.
Upgrading storage modules
Tier 2, Tier 3 and Tier 4 are upgrades. Each one is crafted from the module of the tier below it, and these three recipes are the mod's own, not changed by the pack. Tier 4 also needs an Infused Diamond from RFTools Base.[3]
Tier 2 is made from the Tier 1 module.
Tier 3 is made from the Tier 2 module.
Tier 4 is made from the Tier 3 module.
Screen modules and the scanner
Two screen modules belong to the storage system: the Storage Control Screen Module and the Dump Screen Module. The pack changed both recipes.[3]
Crafting Shaped
| Empty slot | Empty slot | |
| any redstone dust | any iron ingot | any redstone dust |
| Empty slot | Empty slot |
Recipe id: rftoolsstorage:storage_control_module

Crafting Shaped

| any redstone dust | any iron ingot | any redstone dust |
| Empty slot | any wooden button | Empty slot |
Recipe id: rftoolsstorage:dump_module
This recipe is changed by the pack.
The Storage Scanner is also in the pack, and its recipe was changed too. The project page lists the storage scanner as planned for the future, so it may be unfinished.[1][3]
Crafting Shaped
| any ender pearl | ||
| any gold ingot | any gold ingot | |
| any ender pearl |
Recipe id: rftoolsstorage:storage_scanner
This recipe is changed by the pack.
Unverified The sources here don't explain what the screen modules and the scanner do in practice, or how to automate item movement with the Modular Storage. This mod has no guidebook, tooltips or config files in the sources, so check these details in-game or in the quest book before building around them.
How do you progress through RFTools Storage?
3 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide
Storage in this pack runs on a simple ladder: you build a Modular Storage, then fill it with storage modules that go from Tier 1 Storage Module up to Tier 4 Storage Module. The recipes below are the exact in-pack versions, so follow them rather than what you remember from other packs.[3]
Unverified The quest book is where a quest-guided path would be told, but the sources here show no quests for this mod. The order below comes from the recipes alone.
Step 1: the Modular Storage and your first module
The pack changed the recipe for the Modular Storage, so use this version.[3]
Crafting Shaped
| any redstone dust | any chest | any redstone dust |
| any redstone dust | any redstone dust |
Recipe id: rftoolsstorage:modular_storage
This is the pack's changed recipe for the Modular Storage.
The Tier 1 Storage Module is also a pack-changed recipe. It is the starting point of the module line, so craft this one first.[3]
Crafting Shaped
| Empty slot | any chest | Empty slot |
| any gold nugget | any iron ingot | any gold nugget |
| any redstone dust |
Recipe id: rftoolsstorage:storage_module0
This is the pack's changed recipe for the Tier 1 module.
Step 2: upgrading through the tiers
Tiers 2, 3 and 4 are different. They use the mod's own recipes, which the pack has not changed. Each tier takes the module of the tier below it as an ingredient, so you can't skip ahead.[3]
Tier 2 is made from the Tier 1 module.
Tier 3 is made from the Tier 2 module.
The last step, Tier 4 Storage Module, is the only module recipe with an extra ingredient on top of the pattern the earlier upgrades use, so check the recipe below before you start gathering.[3]
Tier 4 is made from the Tier 3 module.
Optional extras
Three more items round out the setup, and the pack changed all their recipes: the Storage Scanner, the Storage Control Screen Module and the Dump Screen Module. The last two are screen modules, so they are crafted separately from the storage tiers.[3]

How does RFTools Storage work with other mods?
2 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide
RFTools Storage is an addon, so it leans on other mods from the start. The project page says it depends on RFTools Base and McJtyLib, and that it is meant to be used together with the other RFTools addons.[1]
In this pack, the clearest links to other mods show up in the crafting recipes, so that is what this section covers.[3]
RFTools Base items in your storage recipes
Both the Modular Storage and the Storage Scanner need a Machine Frame from RFTools Base. So you'll want to get Machine Frames going before you build any storage.[3]
The pack changed both of these recipes. What you see below is the pack's version, not the mod's default.[3]
Crafting Shaped
| any redstone dust | any chest | any redstone dust |
| any redstone dust | any redstone dust |
Recipe id: rftoolsstorage:modular_storage
This is the pack's changed version of the Modular Storage recipe.
Crafting Shaped
| any ender pearl | ||
| any gold ingot | any gold ingot | |
| any ender pearl |
Recipe id: rftoolsstorage:storage_scanner
This is the pack's changed version of the Storage Scanner recipe.
Both recipes also accept items by tag instead of one fixed item. The Modular Storage takes any chest and any redstone dust. The Storage Scanner takes any ender pearl and any gold ingot. Anything that carries those common tags works, whichever mod it comes from.[3]
Upgrading to the Tier 4 Storage Module
The Tier 4 Storage Module builds on the Tier 3 Storage Module and uses an Infused Diamond from RFTools Base. It also takes a Diamond Block, a Quartz Block, a Redstone Block and any chest. Unlike the two recipes above, this one is listed as a regular mod recipe, not one the pack changed.[3]
This is the Tier 4 Storage Module recipe as it appears in the pack.
What changed in RFTools Storage between versions?
All the Mons 1.3.0 ships RFTools Storage version 1.21-6.0.5. The mod has been in the pack since All the Mons 0.3.0-beta or earlier.[2]
The one change listed in the mod's own changelog for this version is that the Patchouli manual documentation was updated and expanded.[4]
Unverified The pack changelogs have no entries for this mod, so any pack-level changes to RFTools Storage between releases are unverified here.
