What is In Control!?
1 part
In Control! gives you full control over where mobs are allowed to spawn. It works on a rule system, and the rule files live in the config/incontrol folder.[1]
This pack ships In Control! 1.21-10.3.0, and it has been in the pack since All the Mons 0.3.0-beta or earlier.[2]
The rule files
The mod's page lists these rule files, as of version 3.5.1. The pack's version is newer, so check the files in your own config folder.[1][2]
- spawn.json lets you block spawning of certain creatures under certain conditions. When a spawn is allowed, you can also change some properties of the mob, like its maximum health.[1]
- summonaid.json is structured like spawn.json, but it is only used when zombies are summoned for aid.[1]
- spawner.json (1.16 or later) lets you add spawn rules under certain conditions.[1]
- loot.json controls the loot that mobs drop when they are killed, based on various criteria.[1]
- experience.json controls how much experience you get from killing mobs, based on various criteria.[1]
The page also lists potentialspawn.json, but that one is marked as 1.12 only, so it doesn't apply to this 1.21 build.[1][2]
If you want more depth, the mod's author keeps a wiki for it. There is also a companion mod called Fx Control!.[1]
How do you get started with In Control!?
2 parts
In Control! is a mod about controlling where mobs are allowed to spawn. It works through a rule system, and the rule files live in the config/incontrol folder. So the first steps with it are about reading and editing config files, not crafting.[1]
What the pack changes
The pack sets up with a single rule: the mob minecraft:squid gets the result "deny". In plain words, the pack uses In Control! to block squid from spawning.[3]
That is the only rule the pack ships in that file, as far as the sources show. Anything else you see spawning is not being blocked by this file.[3]
The rule files you can work with
The mod's project page describes these rule files in the config/incontrol folder. Only the spawn file is confirmed for this pack.[1]
- spawn.json: blocks spawning of certain creatures under certain conditions. When a spawn is allowed, it can also alter some properties of the mob, like maximum health.[1]
- summonaid.json: structured the same as spawn.json, but only used when zombies are summoned for aid.[1]
- spawner.json (1.16 or later): adds spawn rules under certain conditions.[1]
- loot.json: controls the loot mobs drop when they are killed, based on various criteria.[1]
- experience.json: controls how much experience you get from killing mobs, based on various criteria.[1]
How does In Control! work?
2 parts
In Control! doesn't add machines, multiblocks or power to juggle. It is a rule system that gives you control over where mobs are allowed to spawn. Everything it does is driven by rule files that live in the config/incontrol folder.[1]
The rule files
The mod's project page lists the rule files below (as of version 3.5.1). Some of them only exist on certain Minecraft versions, so check that before you edit one.[1]
- spawn.json: blocks spawning of certain creatures under certain conditions. When a spawn is allowed, it can also change some properties of the mob, such as maximum health.[1]
- summonaid.json: structured the same as spawn.json, but only used when zombies are summoned for aid.[1]
- potentialspawn.json (1.12 only): removes and adds spawn rules under certain conditions. Its rules are used before the rules in spawn.json, so any new mob you add here must also be allowed in spawn.json.[1]
- spawner.json (1.16 or later): adds spawn rules under certain conditions.[1]
- loot.json: controls the loot that mobs drop when they are killed, based on various criteria.[1]
- experience.json: controls how much experience you get from killing mobs, based on various criteria.[1]
What this pack sets
The pack ships a with a single rule. It targets minecraft:squid and gives the result "deny", so squids are blocked from spawning. No other conditions or mob property changes appear in the file.[1][3]
How do you progress through In Control!?
The quest chapter available for this guide is the Create chapter in the Tech group, chapter 45 of 70 in the book. None of the quests shown in it name In Control!, so there is no quest-by-quest tier path for this mod to follow here.[4]
Unverified The pack data available for this guide shows no tiers, upgrade steps or progression quests for this mod, so none are described here. Check the quest book in the pack for anything further.
Which All the Mons quests use In Control!?
I went through the quest text available for this section, and none of it mentions In Control!. The Create chapter (90 quests, in the Tech group) is all about Create machines, Rotational Power, trains and packages. The visible part of the Mekanism chapter (also in the Tech group) covers machine upgrades, pigments, the Thermal Evaporation Plant, Quantum Entangloporters and teleporters.[4][5]
So there is no quest I can point you to for this mod. The pack doesn't give In Control! a chapter of its own in what I can see, and I won't guess at what a quest might ask you to do.[4][5]
The Mekanism chapter has 89 quests, and the text of 82 of them isn't available here. Their wording is in the quest book, so open the Mekanism chapter in the Tech group if you want to read them yourself.[5]
Which In Control! config options matter?
2 parts
In Control! is a rule-based mod: you decide where mobs are allowed to spawn, and its rule files live in the config/incontrol folder. The file you're most likely to care about is , because it can block certain creatures from spawning under certain conditions. When a spawn is allowed, it can also change some of the mob's properties, such as maximum health.[1]
What this pack sets in spawn.json
This pack's spawn file contains a single rule. It targets the squid (minecraft:squid) and sets the result to deny, so squids are blocked from spawning. The rule has no extra conditions, which means it isn't limited to a particular biome, dimension or situation.[3]
Other rule files
In Control! has other rule files for other jobs. Rules for zombies summoned for aid go in summonaid.json, which is structured like spawn.json. Mob drops are controlled in loot.json, and the experience you get from kills is controlled in experience.json. There is also spawner.json for adding spawn rules under certain conditions, on 1.16 or later.[1]
What changed in In Control! between versions?
All the Mons 1.3.0 ships In Control! 1.21-10.3.0. The mod has been in the pack since All the Mons 0.3.0-beta or earlier.[2]
The one change I can confirm from the mod's own changelog is in version 1.21-10.3.0, which is the version this pack uses. It added KubeJS server persistent-data conditions, and they only apply when KubeJS is installed.[2][6]
Unverified No pack changelog entries for In Control! were available, so changes to the mod between earlier pack releases are not covered here.

Items and blocks
We can't match this mod to the pack's item list: it registers as incontrol, and the pack's recipe dump has nothing under that name. That means we found nothing, not that the mod adds nothing. Search the item browser
