Applied Mekanistics is a mod in All the Mons 1.3.0, where it is version 1.6.3. The official Mekanism support addon for AE2 (Summary from the mod's Modrinth page.)

What is Applied Mekanistics?

2 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

Applied Mekanistics is the official Mekanism support addon for AE2. If you run both mods and want your Mekanism chemicals to plug into your ME network, this is the bridge. The pack includes version 1.6.3.[1][2]

What it adds

  • Chemical support for existing AE2 devices. You can put an import bus or export bus on a chemical tank, put a storage bus on a radioactive waste barrel, attach pressurized tubes to interfaces, and use chemicals in crafting recipes.[1]
  • Chemical storage cells in 1k, 4k, 16k and 64k sizes, so you can keep gasses in your ME Drives. Radioactive gasses are not supported in these cells.[1]
  • Chemical P2P tunnels for high-throughput chemical transfer. Right-click a Mekanism chemical tank on a P2P tunnel to convert it.[1]
  • QIO support for the Storage Bus. Place the storage bus on the side of a QIO Dashboard and it can interact with the contents of a QIO frequency.[1]

Who it is for

This addon is for you if you already use AE2 for storage and autocrafting and also run Mekanism chemical setups. It lets you manage chemicals through your network instead of keeping them in separate systems.[1]

Unverified The sources don't show where this addon fits in the pack's progression. I can't confirm any quests for it or a place on the ATM Star path, so don't count on either.

How do you get started with Applied Mekanistics?

2 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

Applied Mekanistics is the bridge between AE2 and Mekanism. It adds chemical support to existing AE2 devices, so you can do things like put an import bus or export bus on a chemical tank. It also adds chemical storage cells, which let you keep gasses in your ME Drives. The mod needs both AE2 and Mekanism, so your first steps here are all about chemical storage.[1]

Your first crafts, in order

  1. Craft an ME Chemical Cell Housing. Every chemical cell in the pack is built around it, so it is always the first thing to make. The mod's project page notes that it uses osmium ingots where you might expect iron or copper ingots, so have some osmium ready. The exact in-pack recipe is below.[1][3]
  2. Combine the housing with an ME Storage Component to make a chemical storage cell. The component's size sets the cell's size, so a 1k component gives you the 1k ME Chemical Storage Cell. This is the cheapest way to start storing gasses in an ME Drive.[1][3]
  3. Upgrade when you need more room. This pack has chemical storage cells from 1k ME Chemical Storage Cell and 4k ME Chemical Storage Cell up through 16k ME Chemical Storage Cell, 64k ME Chemical Storage Cell and 256k ME Chemical Storage Cell. Each one is the matching storage component plus a housing.[3]

Crafting Shapeless

Recipe id: appmek:chemical_storage_cell_1k

A good first cell. The bigger sizes follow the same pattern with a bigger storage component.

Taking chemicals with you

If you want a handheld option, the pack also has portable chemical cells in the same sizes, such as the 1k Portable Chemical Cell. Its recipe uses the housing and a storage component plus a couple of extra AE2 parts, so it makes sense to make these after you have the basic cells working.[3]

The portable version of the 1k chemical cell.

Watch out: The mod's project page says chemical cells don't support radioactive gasses. Don't plan to put those into a chemical storage cell.[1]

How does Applied Mekanistics work?

5 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

Applied Mekanistics is the bridge between AE2 and Mekanism. Instead of adding a pile of new machines, it teaches AE2's existing network devices to handle Mekanism chemicals, and adds storage cells so your ME system can hold them.[1]

Chemical support on AE2 devices

The mod's own description lists what this support looks like in practice. These are the setups it gives as examples:[1]

  • An import bus can sit on a chemical tank.[1]
  • An export bus can sit on a chemical tank.[1]
  • A storage bus can sit on a radioactive waste barrel.[1]
  • Pressurized tubes can attach to interfaces.[1]
  • Chemicals can be used in crafting recipes.[1]

Chemical P2P tunnels

Chemical P2P Tunnels are there for high-throughput chemical transfer. To set one up, right click any Mekanism chemical tank on a P2P tunnel and it converts.[1]

QIO storage bus support

The Storage Bus can also interact with the contents of a QIO frequency. Place the storage bus on the side of a QIO Dashboard.[1]

Chemical storage cells

The mod adds chemical storage cells that go into your ME Drives, so you can store gasses in your ME system. The project page lists 1k, 4k, 16k and 64k tiers, but this pack also has a 256k ME Chemical Storage Cell, so the page is not the full picture here. The others are 1k ME Chemical Storage Cell, 4k ME Chemical Storage Cell, 16k ME Chemical Storage Cell and 64k ME Chemical Storage Cell.[1][3][4]

Watch out: The mod's project page states that the chemical cells do not support radioactive gasses.[1]

Every cell starts with the ME Chemical Cell Housing. Here is the in-pack recipe:[3]

You combine the housing with an ME Storage Component of the matching tier to get the finished cell. The 1k cell is the example below, and the other tiers follow the same pattern.[1][3]

Recipe id: appmek:chemical_storage_cell_1k

Portable chemical cells

There are also portable versions in the same tiers, from 1k Portable Chemical Cell and 4k Portable Chemical Cell up through 16k Portable Chemical Cell and 64k Portable Chemical Cell to 256k Portable Chemical Cell. Each one is crafted from the housing together with a matching storage component, an ME Chest and an Energy Cell. Here is the 1k version:[3][4]

Unverified The sources here do not show transfer rates, power use or how many chemical types a cell can hold. No config files for this mod were found in the pack, so none of those settings can be confirmed here.

How do you progress through Applied Mekanistics?

3 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

Progression for this mod is all about chemical storage. You start with the shared ME Chemical Cell Housing, then climb through the capacity tiers: 1k, 4k, 16k, 64k and 256k.[3]

The cell housing

Every chemical cell in the pack, standard or portable, is crafted with the housing. The housing itself is a shaped crafting recipe, so lay it out exactly as shown below.[3]

ME Chemical Storage Cells

Each standard cell is a shapeless craft that combines the housing with the ME storage component of the matching size. You climb the tiers the same way you climb regular AE2 storage: the component you use decides which cell you get.[3]

  1. 1k ME Chemical Storage Cell is the lowest tier.[3]
  2. 4k ME Chemical Storage Cell is the next step up.[3]
  3. 16k ME Chemical Storage Cell comes after that.[3]
  4. 64k ME Chemical Storage Cell is the tier below the top.[3]
  5. 256k ME Chemical Storage Cell is the top tier.[3]

Portable Chemical Cells

The portable versions follow the same tiers. They are also shapeless crafts, but they need extra AE2 parts on top of the housing and the matching storage component, so the portable route costs more than a standard cell of the same size. The recipes below show the exact in-pack ingredients.[3]

Tip: Make a batch of housings first. Every cell tier, standard or portable, is crafted with a housing, so having them ready lets you upgrade as soon as you have the next storage component.[3]

Unverified The sources here do not show any quest involving this mod, so we can't say whether the pack's quest book guides you through these tiers. If you want to check, look through the quest chapters in-game.

How does Applied Mekanistics work with other mods?

4 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

Applied Mekanistics is described as the official Mekanism support addon for AE2. In this pack, its recipes are built from AE2 parts plus a material tagged as osmium, which is the link between the two mods. Everything below comes from the recipes the pack ships.[1][3]

The chemical cell housing

Every chemical cell starts with the ME Chemical Cell Housing. Its recipe uses Quartz Glass from AE2, redstone dust and any item tagged as an osmium ingot. The mod's own description says osmium ingots take the place of the iron or copper ingots you might expect.[1][3]

Crafting Shaped

Crafting Shaped

any redstone dustEmpty slotany redstone dust
any osmium ingotany osmium ingotany osmium ingot

Recipe id: appmek:chemical_cell_housing

The recipe takes any redstone dust and any osmium ingot, not one specific item.

Chemical storage cells

To turn a housing into a cell, combine it with an AE2 storage component. This is a shapeless recipe, so the layout doesn't matter. Each chemical storage cell uses the AE2 component of the matching tier:[3]

Crafting Shapeless

Recipe id: appmek:chemical_storage_cell_1k

This is the 1k tier. The other tiers swap in the matching AE2 storage component.

Portable chemical cells

The portable versions, such as 1k Portable Chemical Cell and 256k Portable Chemical Cell, need more AE2 parts. Besides the housing and a storage component, the recipe also uses an ME Chest and an Energy Cell. They are available in the same tiers as the regular cells.[3]

Crafting Shapeless

Recipe id: appmek:portable_chemical_cell_1k

This is the 1k tier. Higher tiers use the matching storage component.

Cell upgrade recipes

The pack also registers a cell_upgrade recipe for each chemical storage cell and portable chemical cell. They use the AE2 storage cell disassembly recipe type and list the same ingredients as the crafting recipes above.[3]
