Item Filters is a mod in Project Infinity 0.1 0.0.51.4-hotfix-2, where it is version 2001.1.0-build.59. Item Filters is a library mod that is used by mods like FTB Quests. It adds several filter items that let you precisely select which items to match. (Summary from the mod's Modrinth page.)

What is Item Filters?

1 part

This pack includes Item Filters 2001.1.0-build.59, and it has been in the pack since version 0.0.45.4 or earlier. The mod adds filter items such as OR Filter and Tag Filter. The quest book asks you to hand them in as quest tasks.[1][2]

Where it sits in the quest book

Two of the chapters shown here use these filters, and both are in the "Storage and Power" group. The first is "Nuclear Energy", chapter 21 of 44 in the book, with 58 quests. Filters appear as task items in several spots:[2]

The second is "Functional storage", chapter 23 of 44, with 24 quests. There, "Drawer 1x1" quest, "Drawer 2x1" quest, "Drawer 2x2" quest and "Compacting Drawers" quest each ask for an OR Filter. a quest in "Functional storage" comes after the first three of those drawer quests.[3]

Unverified The sources here do not show how other chapters that mention Item Filters (such as Mekanism, Botania and Applied Energistics 2) use it, and they do not show the mod on the ATM Star quest path. Check those chapters in the quest book.

How do you get started with Item Filters?

4 parts

Item Filters adds a set of filter items that each match items by a different rule. Getting started is mostly about knowing which one to craft first, and in this pack that is the Always True Filter.[4][5]

Step 1: make your first filter

Nearly every other filter recipe in the pack asks for a filter you already own. The Always True Filter is the exception, so it is your entry point. One craft gives you 8 of them, and it matches all items.[4][5]

Tip: There is also a shapeless recipe that turns any filter back into an Always True Filter. Use it to recycle a filter you no longer need.[4]

Crafting Shapeless

  • any filter

Recipe id: itemfilters:always_true_from_others

Step 2: craft the filters you need

After that, the other filters are crafted from any item in the filters tag. Each craft gives a different number of filters. These are the ones you will probably want first:[4]

Step 3: combine and refine

Once you are comfortable with the basics, you can build more precise rules. The AND Filter needs every filter to match, and the XOR Filter needs one of two to match but not both. The Block Filter checks whether an item is a block. The Damage Filter and Max Count Filter check item damage and max stack size, and the ID RegEx Filter checks the item ID with a regular expression.[5]

The Custom Filter needs a mod or a script, usually KubeJS, to make it work, so skip it until you have one. The Always False Filter matches no items.[5]

In the quest book

You will run into these items in the quest book as task items. The quest "Gateway" quest in "Useful mods and Items" (chapter 3 of 44) has a task for the Mod Filter. The quest a quest in "AllTheModium" in the "AllTheModium" chapter (Production group, chapter 36 of 44) asks for the OR Filter and comes after the Vibranium template quest.[6][7]

Unverified The sources do not list which items belong to the itemfilters:filters tag, so it is unconfirmed whether an Always True Filter can be used as the starting ingredient for the other filter recipes.

How does Item Filters work?

5 parts

Item Filters adds a set of filter items, and each one describes a group of items. Think of every filter as a tiny rule that you can combine with others. The sources for this mod show filter items and their screen text, so that is what this section covers.[4][5]

Basic filters

Two filters are the simplest possible rules. Always True Filter matches all items and Always False Filter matches no items. They are handy as placeholders or for testing a setup.[5]

Filters that check one thing

  • Tag Filter uses tag names, and its description gives 'minecraft:wool' and 'forge:cobblestone' as examples.[5]
  • Mod Filter works from a mod ID.[5]
  • Block Filter checks whether the item is a block.[5]
  • ID RegEx Filter checks the item ID with a regular expression. The on-screen help says the expression is matched against the item ID, and that "^minecraft:" matches all vanilla items.[5]
  • Damage Filter checks item damage. The help text says you can add relational operators such as "<10" or ">=5", and optionally a percentage such as ">50%".[5]
  • Max Count Filter checks the item's maximum stack size. The help text gives "<64" and ">=16" as examples of relational operators.[5]

Combining filters with logic

The logic filters combine other filters. This is how you build more precise rules.[5]

Filter slots in the screen are labelled "Filter (Right-Click to clear)", so right-clicking a slot empties it. Some text fields also show a variants list. The help text says Tab, the scroll wheel and the cursor up and down keys adjust the highlight, and Enter selects the highlighted entry.[5]

NBT and custom filters

The mod also has two NBT filters. NBT Filter (Strong) matches if the entire NBT is equal. NBT Filter (Weak) matches if only the specified part of the NBT is present, and the help text says any other fields in the item are ignored. Both take an NBT string written like { text:"hello", value: 1, active: true }.[5]

Custom Filter does nothing on its own. Its description says it requires a mod or a script, usually KubeJS, to make it work.[5]

Crafting filters

The filter recipes listed for this pack are all mod recipes. Apart from the paper and wool recipe for Always True, each one takes a filter as its input, so you need one filter before you can make the rest.[4]

How do you progress through Item Filters?

2 parts

Item Filters has no tier ladder in this pack. The recipe dump shows every filter as a single crafting recipe, so there is no chain of upgrades to climb. What you get is a short crafting path, plus a handful of quests that ask you for filters.[4]

Crafting path

The recipe dump lists all of these as the mod's own recipes, so nothing here is shown as changed by the pack. Nearly every filter is crafted from any item in the filters tag. The exception is Always True Filter, which uses paper and wool, so it is where you start.[4]

Crafting Shaped

Recipe id: itemfilters:always_true

The starting point: this recipe does not need another filter and makes 8 per craft.

If you already hold any filter, there is also a shapeless recipe that turns it into an Always True Filter.[4]

Crafting Shapeless

  • any filter

Recipe id: itemfilters:always_true_from_others

Any filter from the filters tag becomes one Always True Filter.

Every other filter is crafted from the filters tag, and each recipe makes a fixed number of filters per craft:[4]

Where the quest book uses filters

Filter items show up as quest tasks in several chapters, so you will meet them as you work through those.[2][6][7][8]

Several quests in the AE2 Addons chapter also ask for an OR Filter. Part of that chapter is not shown in the sources here, so check the quest book for the rest.[4][9]

Which Project Infinity 0.1 quests use Item Filters?

10 parts

In this pack's quest book, some quests ask you to hand in an OR Filter or an Tag Filter as a task item. The sections below go through those chapters in book order and say what each quest asks for.[2][7][8]

Useful mods and Items (chapter 3)

Applied Energistics 2 (Storage and Power, chapter 14)

AE2 Addons (Storage and Power, chapter 15)

a quest in "AE2 Addons" asks for an OR Filter and comes after "Extended AE + Extended AE Plus" quest. "Assembler Matrix" quest asks for a matrix frame plus four OR Filter tasks.[9]

Mekanism (Storage and Power, chapter 19)

Ten quests here ask for an OR Filter, for example "Bin" quest and "Energy Cube" quest. Each comes after an untitled checkmark quest, and those checkmarks follow "Mekanism" quest.[10]

Nuclear Energy (Storage and Power, chapter 21)

This chapter has the most Item Filters quests. They run through the fission, fusion and particle accelerator lines.[2]

Functional storage (Storage and Power, chapter 23)

"Drawer 1x1" quest and "Drawer 2x2" quest each ask for an OR Filter and have no prerequisite. a quest in "Functional storage" comes after the drawer quests, the fluid drawer quests and the ender drawer quest.[3]

Botania (Production, chapter 27)

Blood Magic (Production, chapter 29)

The Blood Altar tier quests ask for more OR Filter each time: 8 in "Blood Altar II" quest, 20 in "Blood Altar III" quest, 28 in "Blood Altar IV" quest and 52 in "Blood Altar V" quest.[12]

ProjectE (Production, chapter 32)

"Klein Stars" quest asks for a Tag Filter and follows the Transmutation Table quest. "Power Flower" quest and "EMC Link" quest ask for one as well.[13]

AllTheModium (Production, chapter 36)

The OR Filter quests here come after the smithing template quests. "ATM Tools" quest follows "Allthemodium Template" quest, and "ATM Alloy tools" quest comes last, after Unobtainium tools, ATM Tools and the OR Filter quest. Each one asks for an OR Filter.[6]

Unverified The other chapters that may use Item Filters could not be checked here: 20 of the 79 Botania quests, plus Smelters, The Beginning, Mystical Agriculture, PneumaticCraft, Woot ?!?, Neo ECO AE Extension and JustDireThings. Their quest text is in the quest book.
