What is Durability Tooltip?
3 parts
Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 guide
Durability Tooltip does one simple job: it shows you the durability of an item in its tooltip. Hover over a tool, weapon or piece of armor and you can see how much life it has left, without guessing.[1]
It's a handy quality-of-life mod for everyone, whether you're just starting out or deep into the pack. Nothing here changes how items behave. It only displays information.[1]
Tooltip styles
You can change how the durability is displayed in the mod's config file. The available styles are Numbers, Bar and Text, so pick whichever you find easiest to read.[1]
Version and multiplayer
This pack includes Durability Tooltip 1.1.6, built for NeoForge on Minecraft 1.21.[2]
The mod is only required on the client. It works on servers that don't have it installed, so you can use it on a server even if the server doesn't run it.[1]
Where it fits in progression
Unverified The sources don't show any quests, recipes or progression steps tied to Durability Tooltip in this pack, and it isn't part of the ATM Star path. It works as a background helper that's there from the start.
How do you get started with Durability Tooltip?
2 parts
Durability Tooltip is a small quality-of-life mod: it shows you the durability of items in their tooltip. So there is nothing to craft first. Your first step is just hovering over a tool, weapon or piece of armor and reading the tooltip.[1]
It is only needed on the client and works with servers that don't have it installed, so you can use it on any server you join with this pack.[1]
Tweak the tooltip to your taste
Everything is set in config/durabilitytooltip-common.toml. The most useful option is Client.tooltipStyle, which is set to NUMBERS in this pack. You can also pick BAR or TEXT. NUMBERS reads like 'Durability: 30 / 100', TEXT gives a wording like pristine, slight damaged or nearly broken, and BAR draws a bar of characters.[3]
- Client.tooltipColorStyle is VARYING in this pack, so the numbers go green, orange or red depending on how much durability is left. BASE uses the base color and GOLD is always gold.[3]
- Client.baseTooltipColor is GRAY, the base text color of the tooltip.[3]
- Client.showTooltipHint is true, so the tooltip includes the 'Durability:' hint text.[3]
- Client.showWhenFull is true, so undamaged tools show the tooltip too. Set it to false if you only want to see it once something is damaged.[3]
- Client.showWhenBroken is true. It only matters for mods that allow items to sit at 0 durability.[3]
- Client.onlyVanillaTools is false, so the tooltip is not limited to vanilla tools.[3]
The pack changes the blacklist
The mod's default for Client.blackListedMods is 'tconstruct, supplementaries', which hides the tooltip on items from those mods. This pack sets it to an empty value, so no mod is blacklisted and items from every mod can show the tooltip.[3]
How does Durability Tooltip work?
4 parts
Durability Tooltip does one job: it shows you the durability of an item in its tooltip. Everything it does is controlled by a handful of config options, so this section walks through them and shows what this pack sets.[1][3]
The mod is only needed on the client. It works on servers that don't have it installed, so you can use it without asking a server owner to add anything.[1]
Choosing the tooltip style
Client.tooltipStyle decides how the durability is drawn. The options are BAR, NUMBERS and TEXT. NUMBERS shows something like 'Durability: 30 / 100'. TEXT shows a wording such as pristine, slight damaged or nearly broken. BAR shows a row of bar characters. This pack uses NUMBERS, which is also the default.[3]
Colors
Client.tooltipColorStyle sets the colors of the part of the tooltip that reacts to damage (the numbers, text or bar characters). BASE uses the base color, GOLD is always gold, and VARYING goes green, orange or red depending on how much durability is left. The pack uses VARYING, the default.[3]
Client.baseTooltipColor is the base text color of the tooltip. The pack leaves it at GRAY, the default. The accepted values are the Minecraft color and formatting names, such as GOLD, AQUA or WHITE.[3]
When the tooltip appears
- Client.showTooltipHint controls whether the tooltip includes the 'Durability:' hint. It is true in this pack.[3]
- Client.showWhenFull controls whether the tooltip shows on a tool that isn't damaged. It is true in this pack, so undamaged tools still show their durability.[3]
- Client.showWhenBroken controls whether the tooltip shows at 0 durability. It only matters for mods that allow items to sit at 0 durability. It is true in this pack.[3]
- Client.onlyVanillaTools limits the tooltip to vanilla tools when true. It is false in this pack, so modded items can show it too.[3]
The blacklist
Client.blackListedMods lists mods whose items won't show the durability tooltip. The mod's default is 'tconstruct, supplementaries', but this pack changes it to an empty value. That means no mod is blacklisted here.[3]
Which Durability Tooltip config options matter?
2 parts
Durability Tooltip keeps all of its settings in config/durabilitytooltip-common.toml, under the Client section. The mod only needs to be installed on the client, so these options only affect what you see in your own tooltips.[1][3]
The value this pack changed
Just a single option differs from the mod default. Client.blackListedMods is set to an empty string in this pack. The mod default is 'tconstruct, supplementaries', which hides the durability tooltip on items from those mods. With the empty list, this pack does not exclude any mod from the tooltip.[3]
Everything else is at the mod default
- Client.tooltipStyle is NUMBERS. The other choices are BAR and TEXT. Numbers show something like 'Durability: 30 / 100', text shows wording like pristine or nearly broken, and bar draws a bar of characters.[3]
- Client.tooltipColorStyle is VARYING, so the numbers, text or bar change between green, orange and red as the remaining durability drops. BASE uses the base color and GOLD is always gold.[3]
- Client.baseTooltipColor is GRAY, the base text color of the tooltip.[3]
- Client.showTooltipHint is true, so the tooltip includes the 'Durability:' hint.[3]
- Client.showWhenFull is true, so the tooltip also shows on items that are not damaged.[3]
- Client.showWhenBroken is true. It only matters for mods that let items sit at 0 durability.[3]
- Client.onlyVanillaTools is false, so modded tools get the tooltip too.[3]
What changed in Durability Tooltip between versions?
1 part
Project Infinity 0.1 0.0.51.4-hotfix-2 ships Durability Tooltip 1.2.0 (the Forge build for Minecraft 1.20). The mod was already in the pack by version 0.0.45.4 or earlier, so you have the latest release from this changelog.[4]
Mod releases
- 1.2.0: Items with a durability of 0 now show that properly, which is handy for mods that allow broken tools. There is a new config option to hide the tooltip when durability is 0, and in 'text' mode a durability 0 item shows as "Broken". Ukrainian translations were also added.[5]
- 1.1.6: Added Argentinian Spanish, European Portuguese, Japanese, Polish, Turkish and Traditional Chinese translations, and updated the Russian translations.[5][6]
- 1.1.5: Added a config option to blacklist items from certain mods, and another to hide the durability tooltip when an item is not damaged. German translations were added too.[5][6]
- 1.1.4: The initial release of Durability Tooltip for Minecraft 1.20.[5][6]
So the two config options from 1.1.5 and the durability 0 handling from 1.2.0 are the changes that affect how the tooltip behaves. Everything else in these changelogs is translation work.[5][6]
Unverified No Project Infinity changelog entries for this mod were available, so any pack-specific config changes to Durability Tooltip are unverified.

Items and blocks
We can't match this mod to the pack's item list: it registers as durabilitytooltip, and the pack's recipe dump has nothing under that name. That means we found nothing, not that the mod adds nothing. Search the item browser
