Durability Tooltip is a mod in FTB Skies 2 1.24.0, where it is version 1.2.0. Durability Tooltip shows you the durability of an item! (Summary from the mod's Modrinth page.)

What is Durability Tooltip?

3 parts

Durability Tooltip does one simple job: it shows you the durability of an item in its tooltip. Hover over a tool, weapon or piece of armor and you can see how much life it has left, without guessing.[1]

It's a handy quality-of-life mod for everyone, whether you're just starting out or deep into the pack. Nothing here changes how items behave. It only displays information.[1]

Tooltip styles

You can change how the durability is displayed in the mod's config file. The available styles are Numbers, Bar and Text, so pick whichever you find easiest to read.[1]

Version and multiplayer

This pack includes Durability Tooltip 1.1.6, built for NeoForge on Minecraft 1.21.[2]

The mod is only required on the client. It works on servers that don't have it installed, so you can use it on a server even if the server doesn't run it.[1]

Where it fits in progression

Unverified The sources don't show any quests, recipes or progression steps tied to Durability Tooltip in this pack, and it isn't part of the ATM Star path. It works as a background helper that's there from the start.

How do you get started with Durability Tooltip?

1 part

There's nothing to craft or unlock to get started with Durability Tooltip. It's a small client-side mod that shows you the durability of an item in its tooltip, so you can see how much life your tools, weapons and armor have left.[1]

What to do first

  1. Hover over a tool, weapon or piece of armor in your inventory to read its durability in the tooltip.[1]
  2. If you don't like how the information is shown, change the tooltip style in the mod's config file. The available styles are Numbers, Bar and Text.[1]
Tip: Durability Tooltip only needs to be installed on the client. It works on servers that don't have it, so you can use it in multiplayer without any extra setup on the server side.[1]

Unverified The sources I have don't show any recipes, quests or pack-specific config changes for this mod, so I can't say which style is set by default in this pack or whether the pack changed any of its settings. Check the config file in your own instance to see the current style.

How does Durability Tooltip work?

3 parts

Durability Tooltip doesn't add machines, multiblocks, power, fluids or item handling. It only adds a line to item tooltips that shows how much durability an item has left. So there's no automation to set up, and everything about how it behaves is controlled through one config file.[1]

Tip: The mod is only required on the client. It works on servers that don't have it installed, so you can use it without the server doing anything.[1]

Tooltip styles

The look of the tooltip is set by Client.tooltipStyle. In this pack it is set to NUMBERS, and the other allowed values are BAR and TEXT.[1][3]

  • NUMBERS shows the durability as numbers, in the form 'Durability: 30 / 100'. This is what the pack uses.[3]
  • TEXT shows a word instead of numbers: pristine, slight damaged or nearly broken.[3]
  • BAR shows a bar of block characters, like 'Durability: [███▒▒▒▒▒▒▒]'.[3]

Colors

Client.baseTooltipColor sets the base text color of the tooltip. The pack leaves it at GRAY.[3]

Client.tooltipColorStyle decides how the reactive part of the tooltip (the numbers, text or bar characters) is colored. BASE uses the base color, GOLD is always gold, and VARYING switches between green, orange and red depending on how much durability is left. The pack uses VARYING, so you can tell at a glance when a tool is getting low.[3]

What gets a tooltip

All of these values match the mod's defaults, so the pack hasn't changed anything here.[3]

Which Durability Tooltip config options matter?

1 part

Durability Tooltip is simple to configure, and everything lives in one file. In this pack, every option in that file is set to the mod's default value. The pack changed none of them, so what you see is the stock behavior.[3]

The options you'll most likely touch

  • Client.tooltipStyle is NUMBERS, the default. NUMBERS shows the current and max durability, TEXT shows a word like pristine, slight damaged or nearly broken, and BAR shows a bar of characters.[3]
  • Client.tooltipColorStyle is VARYING, the default. The numbers, text or bar change color between green, orange and red depending on how much durability is left. You can switch it to BASE to use the base color, or GOLD to always use gold.[3]
  • Client.baseTooltipColor is GRAY, the default. This is the base text color of the tooltip.[3]
  • Client.showTooltipHint is true, the default, so the tooltip includes the 'Durability:' hint text.[3]
  • Client.showWhenFull is true, the default, so the tooltip is also shown on tools that are not damaged yet.[3]
  • Client.onlyVanillaTools is false, the default, so the tooltip is not limited to vanilla tools.[3]
  • Client.blackListedMods is 'tconstruct, supplementaries', also the default. Items from blacklisted mods won't show the durability tooltip.[3]
Tip: Durability Tooltip is only required on the client, and it works with servers that don't have it installed. So changing these settings only affects what you see on your own screen.[1]

"From pack files" means the list came from the pack's own files; "from the published release" means ForgeBase read the jars of the release itself.

Items and blocks

We can't match this mod to the pack's item list: it registers as durabilitytooltip, and the pack's recipe dump has nothing under that name. That means we found nothing, not that the mod adds nothing. Search the item browser
