What is Structures Tweaker?
3 parts
Structures Tweaker gives you control over how players interact with structures in the world. It can protect ancient ruins, and it can also manage combat zones. It is a utility mod, so it adds no machines or gear of its own to progress through.[1]
This pack includes Structures Tweaker 2.1.7 for NeoForge on Minecraft 1.21.1.[2]
What it can control
- Structure protection: protect original blocks while still allowing new construction, and stop unauthorized modifications. Protection can also be disabled after key mobs are defeated.[1]
- Player and combat rules: toggle PvP, manage mob spawning, control explosions and fire spread, and regulate item pickup.[1]
- Movement items: control elytra flight, ender pearl usage and riptide trident usage inside structures.[1]
Who it is for
It is mainly for pack makers and server admins who want to set rules for specific structures. Each structure gets its own settings in a simple JSON format, and configs are generated automatically. The mod works with structure-adding mods and supports data packs and command block automation.[1]
Commands
- /structuretweaker show enable lets you view structure boundaries.[1]
- /structuretweaker show disable hides those boundaries again.[1]
- /structuretweaker defeat removes structure protection.[1]
Unverified The sources do not show where Structures Tweaker fits into the pack's progression, and they do not show any quests or ATM Star path steps involving it. Treat it as a background rules tool rather than a progression step.
How do you get started with Structures Tweaker?
2 parts
Structures Tweaker works differently from most mods you'll meet in the pack. It's a structure-management tool: it controls what players can do inside structures, such as breaking blocks, fighting other players, or using ender pearls. So there's no starter item to craft first.[1]
Unverified Whether this pack adds any items, recipes or quests for Structures Tweaker couldn't be confirmed from the available sources, so this section has no recipe blocks. Check in-game before assuming there's something to craft.
What to do first
- Turn on the boundary display with /structuretweaker show enable. It lets you see where a structure's edges are, which is handy for knowing whether the rules apply where you're standing.[1]
- Walk into a structure and see how it behaves. The mod can protect original blocks while still allowing new construction, and it can restrict things like PvP, mob spawning, explosions, fire spread, item pickup, elytra flight, ender pearls and riptide tridents.[1]
- If a structure's protection is in your way, use /structuretweaker defeat to remove it. The mod also supports disabling protection after key mobs are defeated, so a boss fight can be what unlocks a structure.[1]
- When you're done checking boundaries, hide them again with /structuretweaker show disable.[1]
How the settings work
Every structure gets its own settings in a simple JSON format, and the configs are generated automatically. The options include toggles for breaking blocks, interacting, placing blocks, player PvP, creature spawning, fire spread, explosions, item pickup, elytra flight, ender pearls and riptide. There's also a switch to protect only the original blocks.[1]
The mod works with structures added by other mods, so the same system covers modded structures too.[1]
Unverified The values this pack uses for individual structures haven't been confirmed from the available sources. The mod's example config shows everything set to allowed except the original-blocks-only protection, but that is only an example and not necessarily what the pack uses.
How does Structures Tweaker work?
4 parts
Structures Tweaker doesn't work like a machine mod. The sources describe it as a structure-management tool that lets you control how players interact with structures in the world, so this section is about settings files rather than power, fluids, item handling or multiblocks. Everything runs through per-structure settings.[1]
Settings per structure
Each structure gets its own JSON file with a list of on/off settings, and the mod generates these configs automatically. In this pack they sit in folders named after the mod that adds the structure, such as the AE2 meteorite, the Apotheosis towers, the Ars Nouveau wilden dens and the Cataclysm structures. Every full file carries a config version, which is 2 here.[1][3][4][5][6]
These are the settings a structure file can hold:[1]
- Block rules: whether players can break blocks, place blocks and interact inside the structure.[1]
- Combat and mobs: whether player PvP is allowed, whether creatures can spawn, and whether explosions and fire spread are allowed.[1]
- Item pickup: whether players can pick up items inside the structure.[1]
- Movement items: whether elytra flight, ender pearls and riptide tridents work inside the structure.[1]
- Original-block protection: when it's on, the structure's original blocks are protected while new construction is still allowed.[1]
What this pack does with them
The files for the AE2 meteorite, the Apotheosis towers, the Ars Nouveau wilden dens and the Cataclysm acropolis have every permission set to true. That includes breaking, placing, interacting, PvP, creature spawning, explosions, fire spread, item pickup, elytra, ender pearls and riptide. In each of them original-block protection is false.[3][4][5][6][7][8][9][10][11]
For example, the meteorite file has config.canBreakBlocks and config.canPlaceBlocks both true, and config.onlyProtectOriginalBlocks false. The options visible in the Cataclysm ancient factory file are true as well, but the sources don't show the end of that file.[3][12]
Files that only store differences
Some files hold almost nothing. The Cataclysm abandoned spire, abandoned temple, abandoned village, amethyst nest and the eternal ancient factory contain only a note. It says that only properties that differ from the global config are saved in the file, and that global.json holds the defaults. So a file that looks empty means that structure follows those global defaults.[13][14][15][16][17]
The Ars Elemental starbuncle shrine file has the same note plus an override, individualOverrides.creativeBypass, set to false.[18]
Commands
The mod comes with a small command set. /structuretweaker show enable lets you see structure boundaries, and /structuretweaker show disable hides them again. /structuretweaker defeat removes a structure's protection. The mod also advertises disabling protection after you defeat key mobs, but the sources don't say which structures in this pack use that.[1]
Which Structures Tweaker config options matter?
3 parts
Structures Tweaker keeps one small JSON file per structure, grouped into folders by the mod that adds the structure. This pack ships files for AE2, Apotheosis, Ars Nouveau, Cataclysm and more, plus a set of custom FTB ones. Every full file carries a configVersion of 2.[1][3][4][5][6][19]
The toggles you will care about most are config.canBreakBlocks, config.canPlaceBlocks and config.canInteract. After those come the combat and movement switches: PvP, creature spawning, explosions, fire spread, item pickup, elytra flight, ender pearls and riptide. There is also config.onlyProtectOriginalBlocks, which protects a structure's original blocks while still letting you build new things.[1][3]
Most structures are left wide open
For structures such as the AE2 meteorite, the Apotheosis towers, the Ars Nouveau wilden dens, the Cataclysm structures with full files and the FTB big room, every toggle is true and onlyProtectOriginalBlocks is false. Nothing is locked down, so you can break, build, fight and fly as you like.[3][4][5][6][7][12][20]
Many other files, like the Cataclysm abandoned spire, the Chesed arena's eternal variant and the FTB dungeons, contain only a note. It says that only properties differing from the global config are saved in the file, and that defaults live in global.json.[13][21][22]
The FTB vaults are where the pack gets strict
The vault files are where the pack departs from that open baseline. The values below come straight from the pack's files.[19][23][24][25]
- Ancient City vault: every toggle stays true, but the file adds whitelists for the grave blocks, covering config.blockBreakWhitelist, config.blockPlaceWhitelist and config.interactionWhitelist. The only whitelisted item use is Grave Key.[19]
- Burning Disco vault: config.allowCreatureSpawning, config.canBreakBlocks and config.canPlaceBlocks are all false, while config.canInteract stays true. The break whitelist adds Red Nether Brick Wall on top of the grave blocks. The interaction whitelist adds Netherite Door, Jukebox and Note Block.[23]
- Chicken Jockey vault: config.allowCreatureSpawning is false, fire spread is off, and breaking and placing blocks are both off. Interaction stays on, and the same grave whitelists and grave key entry appear.[24]
- Create vault: this is the strictest file I can see. Creative flight, elytra, ender pearls, ender teleportation, explosions, fire spread, riptide and creature spawning are all off. Breaking, placing and interacting are off too, and both hostile and passive spawns are prevented. Item pickup and PvP stay on.[25]
- Create vault exceptions: the interaction whitelist names things like levers, stone buttons, chests, barrels and the Wrench. The block-place whitelist includes water and the Mechanical Pump. Item use is whitelisted for the Snowball, the wrench and the grave key.[25]
Commands worth knowing
Unverified The values in global.json, which the note-only files fall back to, aren't in the material I have, so I can't say what those structures do. I also can't confirm exactly how the whitelist options behave beyond the lists in the vault files.
What changed in Structures Tweaker between versions?
There isn't much to track here, so this section is short. Structures Tweaker 2.1.7 is the version that ships in FTB StoneBlock 4 1.21.0, and the mod has been in the pack since 1.0.0 or earlier.[2]
The one change recorded in the mod's own 2.1.7 changelog is a patch for decorated pots. The changelog gives no more detail than that, so the sources here don't show exactly what was fixed.[26]
Unverified The sources here include no pack changelog entries for this mod, so any changes made to it between StoneBlock 4 releases are not shown.
