What is Mekanistic Routers?

Same as in the All the Mons 1.3.0 guide

Mekanistic Routers is part of this pack, which ships version 1.2.0 of the mod (the file is mekanisticrouters-1.2.0.jar).[1]

It isn't a new addition either. The pack's mod list shows it was first included in 0.4.0-beta or earlier, so it has been around since the early betas.[1]

That is all the sources here confirm about the mod, so this overview stays short. I won't describe its features, recipes or config options until the pack's own files show them.[1]

How do you get started with Mekanistic Routers?

4 parts

Same as in the All the Mons 1.3.0 guide

This mod adds chemical handling to Modular Routers. The Mk1 module and the Chemical Transfer Upgrade are crafted from a Blank Module or Blank Upgrade from that mod, so make those first. The Mk2 and the Refill Module then build on the Mk1. Here is the order I'd go in.[2]

Step one: Chemical Module Mk1

Start with Chemical Module Mk1. It transfers chemicals into or out of the router, to or from an adjacent block in the module's direction.[3]

Tip: The router's buffer must have a chemical container item in it, or the module has nothing to work with. In the module's settings you choose the transfer direction: push chemical out to the tank, or pull it from the tank.[3]

Step two: Chemical Transfer Upgrade

Next, make a Chemical Transfer Upgrade. It increases how much fluid a router can transfer in each direction. This matters because the module's Max Transfer setting is only a limit, not a target. The real rate is still limited by the number of these upgrades in the router and by the external tank's own transfer rate.[3]

Step three: Chemical Module Mk2

When you outgrow the Mk1, move up to Chemical Module Mk2. It transfers to or from any nearby block rather than just the adjacent one, and it can transfer to and from tanks. Like the Mk1, it needs a chemical container item in the router's buffer. You craft it from a Mk1.[2][3]

Crafting Shapeless

Recipe id: mekanisticrouters:chemical_module_mk2

If you are upgrading several modules, the pack also has a batch recipe that turns 4 Mk1 modules into 4 Mk2 modules in one craft.[2]

Recipe id: mekanisticrouters:chemical_module_mk2_x4

Step four: Chemical Refill Module

Last is the Chemical Refill Module. It wirelessly refills chemical container items in a player's inventory, such as Jetpacks. In its settings you pick which section of your inventory it works on, and the filter decides which items can receive chemicals. It is crafted from a Mk2, so it comes after the steps above.[2][3]

How does Mekanistic Routers work?

5 parts

Same as in the All the Mons 1.3.0 guide

Mekanistic Routers adds chemical handling to routers through modules and one upgrade. This section covers what each piece does and how its settings behave, based on the mod's own item descriptions and screen text, plus the recipes in this pack.[2][3]

Chemical modules

Chemical Module Mk1 moves chemicals into or out of the router, to or from an adjacent block in the module's direction. Its description says the router's buffer must hold a chemical container item for this to work.[3]

Chemical Module Mk2 does the same job, but with any nearby block instead of only the adjacent one in its direction. It needs a chemical container item in the router's buffer too, and it can transfer to and from tanks.[3]

Tip: If a chemical module seems to do nothing, check the router's buffer first. Both Mk1 and Mk2 need a chemical container item sitting in it.[3]

Module settings

The Transfer Direction setting decides whether the router pushes chemical out to the tank or pulls chemical from the tank.[3]

The Max Transfer setting is the most chemical the router will attempt to move in one operation. Treat it as a limit, not a target. The real rate is still capped by the number of Chemical Transfer Upgrade in the router, and by the transfer rate of the external tank if there is one.[3]

The tooltip for this setting gives the value in mB per operation. It adds that the router's overall transfer rate (Chemical Transfer and Speed Upgrades) still applies. Modules also show a Chemical Rate line, which tells you the most they will move per operation.[3]

Chemical Transfer Upgrade

Chemical Transfer Upgrade increases the amount of fluid a router can transfer, in each direction, by a set number of mB per tick. The per-upgrade amount is shown on the item's tooltip.[3]

Chemical Refill Module

Chemical Refill Module wirelessly refills chemical container items in a player's inventory, such as Jetpacks.[3]

Its settings let you choose which section of the player inventory it interacts with. A filter controls which items can receive chemicals from the module.[3]

Crafting

These are the recipes this pack uses for the mod's items. Start with the Mk1 module.[2]

The Mk2 module is an upgrade of the Mk1. There is also a batch recipe that converts several Mk1 modules at once.[2]

The Refill Module is built from a Mk2 module, so you need to make a Mk2 first.[2]

How do you progress through Mekanistic Routers?

4 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

Mekanistic Routers doesn't have tiers in the usual modded sense. Here it is a short line of crafting steps, and each step builds on the item before it. In this pack the module line runs from Chemical Module Mk1 up to Chemical Module Mk2 and Chemical Refill Module. The Chemical Transfer Upgrade sits beside that line as a separate item.[4]

Unverified The sources I have show no pack quests that cover this mod, so nothing in the quest book tells you when to unlock these items. The order below follows the recipes only.

Step 1: Chemical Module Mk1

The Chemical Module Mk1 is the entry point, and everything else in the module line starts from it. It's a shaped crafting recipe, and the in-pack version is below.[4]

Crafting Shaped

Crafting Shaped
Empty slotany osmium ingotEmpty slot
any cheap glass blocksBlank Moduleany cheap glass blocks
Empty slotany osmium ingotEmpty slot

Recipe id: mekanisticrouters:chemical_module_mk1

Step 2: Chemical Module Mk2

You make the Chemical Module Mk2 by upgrading a Mk1 module in a shapeless recipe, so the layout doesn't matter. It's a cheap step, because it only needs the Mk1 plus one extra item.[4]

Crafting Shapeless

Recipe id: mekanisticrouters:chemical_module_mk2

The pack also has a second Mk2 recipe, listed as chemical_module_mk2_x4. It shows the same inputs and the same Mk2 result as the first one.[4]

Crafting Shapeless

Recipe id: mekanisticrouters:chemical_module_mk2_x4

Last step: Chemical Refill Module

The Chemical Refill Module is the top of the module line. It's a shaped recipe that consumes a Mk2 module, so you can't skip the earlier steps.[4]

Crafting Shaped

Chemical Module Mk2
Wither Skeleton Skull

The side path: Chemical Transfer Upgrade

The Chemical Transfer Upgrade doesn't depend on any of the modules above. It has its own shaped recipe, so you can make it at any point.[4]

Crafting Shaped

Recipe id: mekanisticrouters:chemical_upgrade

Tip: The Mk1 module and the Chemical Transfer Upgrade both use the same kind of osmium ingot and cheap glass, so you can stock up on those materials once and craft both.[4]

How does Mekanistic Routers work with other mods?

2 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

Mekanistic Routers links up with other mods through its crafting recipes. Both of them start from an item in the Modular Routers family and turn it into a chemical version.[4]

Chemical Module Mk1

Chemical Module Mk1 is crafted from a Blank Module. The other ingredients are matched by common tags rather than specific items: any cheap glass block and any osmium ingot. Anything carrying those tags works.[4]

Chemical Transfer Upgrade

Chemical Transfer Upgrade follows the same pattern, but it starts from a Blank Upgrade instead of a blank module. It uses the same tag-based glass and osmium ingredients.[4]

Crafting Shaped

Tip: Because the glass and osmium slots accept anything with the matching tag, you can use whatever cheap glass and osmium ingots you already have on hand.[4]
