Mekanistic Routers is a mod in All the Mods 10 8.3, where it is version 1.2.0. Integration features between Mekanism and Modular Routers (Summary from the mod's Modrinth page.)

What is Mekanistic Routers?

Mekanistic Routers is part of this pack. The pack ships version 1.2.0 of the mod, and it has been included since All the Mods 10 5.5 or earlier, so it isn't a recent addition.[1]

Unverified The sources I have don't say what Mekanistic Routers does, who it is meant for, or where it fits in the pack's progression. They contain no platform description, no in-mod guidebook, and no recipes, configs or quests for it. I haven't found it on the ATM Star path or in any quest, but I can't confirm how it is meant to be used. Check the mod in-game before relying on any particular behavior.

How do you get started with Mekanistic Routers?

4 parts

Mekanistic Routers adds chemical handling to your routers. The path through it is short: make a chemical module, add transfer upgrades so the router can move more, then optionally make the refill module. Here is the order I'd go in, and why.[2][3]

Step 1: Chemical Module Mk1

Start with the Chemical Module Mk1. It moves chemicals into or out of the router, to or from an adjacent block in the direction the module faces. It's the simplest way to see how chemical transfer works in the pack.[2][3]

Watch out: The router's buffer must have a chemical container item in it, or the module has nothing to work with. If nothing moves, check this first.[3]

Step 2: Chemical Transfer Upgrade

Next, make the Chemical Transfer Upgrade. It increases how much fluid a router can transfer in each direction. Make it early, because the router's overall transfer rate is what limits your modules.[3]

The module settings follow the same limits. The Max Transfer setting is a ceiling on one operation, not a target. The real rate is still capped by the number of Chemical Transfer Upgrades in the router and by the transfer rate of any external tank. The tooltip says Speed Upgrades count toward the router's overall transfer rate too.[3]

Next: Chemical Module Mk2

Once you want to work with tanks, move up to the Chemical Module Mk2. Unlike Mk1, it transfers to or from any nearby block rather than only the adjacent one, and it can transfer to and from tanks. It also needs a chemical container item in the router's buffer.[2][3]

Crafting Shapeless

Recipe id: mekanisticrouters:chemical_module_mk2

In the module settings, the Transfer Direction option sets whether the router pushes chemical out to the tank or pulls it from the tank. Check it before you start, so you don't drain a tank you meant to fill.[3]

Step 4: Chemical Refill Module (optional)

The Chemical Refill Module is the one to make if you use chemical-powered gear. It wirelessly refills chemical container items in your inventory, such as Jetpacks. In its settings you choose which section of your inventory it works on, and the filter controls which items can receive chemicals from it.[3]

How does Mekanistic Routers work?

5 parts

Mekanistic Routers adds chemical handling to routers. In this pack that comes down to a few modules and one upgrade, and the sources only explain part of how they work. Below is what is confirmed.[3]

Chemical modules

Chemical Module Mk1 moves chemicals into or out of the router, to or from an adjacent block in the module's direction. Chemical Module Mk2 does the same job with any nearby block, and it can also transfer to and from tanks.[3]

Watch out: Both modules need a chemical container item in the router's buffer. If a module seems to do nothing, check the buffer first.[3]

Module settings

  • Transfer Direction: you choose whether the router pushes chemical out to the tank, or pulls chemical from the tank.[3]
  • Max Transfer: the most chemical the router will attempt to move in one operation. Treat it as a limit rather than a target, because the real rate can be lower.[3]

What limits the transfer rate

The Max Transfer setting is shown in mB. The actual rate is still capped by the number of Chemical Transfer Upgrade in the router, and by the transfer rate of the external tank if there is one. The in-game tooltip also names Speed Upgrades as part of the router's overall transfer rate.[3]

Each Chemical Transfer Upgrade increases the amount a router can transfer in each direction, measured in mB per tick.[3]

Refilling items from your inventory

Chemical Refill Module wirelessly refills chemical container items in a player's inventory. Jetpacks are the example given. In its settings you pick which section of the player inventory it interacts with, and its filter controls which items can receive chemicals from the module.[3]

How do you progress through Mekanistic Routers?

4 parts

Mekanistic Routers doesn't have tiers in the usual modded sense. Here it is a short line of crafting steps, and each step builds on the item before it. In this pack the module line runs from Chemical Module Mk1 up to Chemical Module Mk2 and Chemical Refill Module. The Chemical Transfer Upgrade sits beside that line as a separate item.[2]

Unverified The sources I have show no pack quests that cover this mod, so nothing in the quest book tells you when to unlock these items. The order below follows the recipes only.

Step 1: Chemical Module Mk1

The Chemical Module Mk1 is the entry point, and everything else in the module line starts from it. It's a shaped crafting recipe, and the in-pack version is below.[2]

Step 2: Chemical Module Mk2

You make the Chemical Module Mk2 by upgrading a Mk1 module in a shapeless recipe, so the layout doesn't matter. It's a cheap step, because it only needs the Mk1 plus one extra item.[2]

Crafting Shapeless

Recipe id: mekanisticrouters:chemical_module_mk2

The pack also has a second Mk2 recipe, listed as chemical_module_mk2_x4. It shows the same inputs and the same Mk2 result as the first one.[2]

Last step: Chemical Refill Module

The Chemical Refill Module is the top of the module line. It's a shaped recipe that consumes a Mk2 module, so you can't skip the earlier steps.[2]

The side path: Chemical Transfer Upgrade

The Chemical Transfer Upgrade doesn't depend on any of the modules above. It has its own shaped recipe, so you can make it at any point.[2]

Tip: The Mk1 module and the Chemical Transfer Upgrade both use the same kind of osmium ingot and cheap glass, so you can stock up on those materials once and craft both.[2]

How does Mekanistic Routers work with other mods?

2 parts

Mekanistic Routers links up with other mods through its crafting recipes. Both of them start from an item in the Modular Routers family and turn it into a chemical version.[2]

Chemical Module Mk1

Chemical Module Mk1 is crafted from a Blank Module. The other ingredients are matched by common tags rather than specific items: any cheap glass block and any osmium ingot. Anything carrying those tags works.[2]

Chemical Transfer Upgrade

Chemical Transfer Upgrade follows the same pattern, but it starts from a Blank Upgrade instead of a blank module. It uses the same tag-based glass and osmium ingredients.[2]

Crafting Shaped

Tip: Because the glass and osmium slots accept anything with the matching tag, you can use whatever cheap glass and osmium ingots you already have on hand.[2]

What changed in Mekanistic Routers between versions?

Mekanistic Routers joined the pack in All the Mods 10 4.0, which shipped version 1.1.1.[4]

In All the Mods 10 5.5 the pack updated it from 1.1.1 to 1.2.0.[5]

All the Mods 10 8.1 still ships 1.2.0, so you have the same version that 5.5 brought in.[1]

  • 4.0: added, version 1.1.1.[4]
  • 5.5: updated from 1.1.1 to 1.2.0.[5]
  • 8.1: includes 1.2.0.[1]

Unverified What actually changed between Mekanistic Routers 1.1.1 and 1.2.0 (new features, fixes or balance changes) is unverified. The pack changelogs only list the version bump, and no changelog for the shipped jar is available.
