What is Inventory Essentials?
Same as in the Project Infinity 0.1 0.0.51.4-hotfix-2 guide
Inventory Essentials is part of the pack's mod list. This pack ships version 8.2.19, using the file inventoryessentials-forge-1.20.1-8.2.19.jar, so it is built for Forge on Minecraft 1.20.1.[1]
The mod was already in the pack by version 0.0.51.4 or earlier, so it is not a recent addition.[1]
Unverified What Inventory Essentials does in this pack is not confirmed by the available sources, so this page does not describe its features.
How do you get started with Inventory Essentials?
3 parts
Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.24.0 guide
Inventory Essentials is about moving items around faster, so your first steps are learning the controls rather than crafting anything. Everything below comes from the mod's own option descriptions and key binding names.[2]
Step 1: Find the controls
Open your controls menu and look for the Inventory Essentials category. That is where the mod's key bindings live, so you can check or change them before you start.[2]
- Transfer all of type, Transfer all and Transfer one, each with a hold version.[2]
- Transfer on Hover (Hold), for quick-moving items without clicking each one.[2]
- Bulk Drop and Bulk Drop out of Screen, each with a hold version.[2]
- Sort Inventory, Dump to Container, Restock Container and Restock Inventory.[2]
Step 2: Try the click shortcuts
The mod's option descriptions explain what the click combinations do. Try them on a chest as soon as you have one.[2]
- Shift-ctrl-clicking moves all items of the same type at once.[2]
- Ctrl-clicking moves only one item at a time instead of the full stack.[2]
- Space-clicking an item moves all items from that inventory at once.[2]
- Control-space-clicking an item moves one of each item from that inventory at once.[2]
- Holding shift and moving your mouse over items quick-transfers them without clicking each one.[2]
- Shift-ctrl-drop-clicking drops all items of the same type at once.[2]
- Space-clicking armor in the inventory can swap to all matching armor.[2]
Step 3: Sort and keep stocked
Middle-click inventory sorting has a setting for how it behaves. The mod can also replace depleted block stacks or broken tools automatically from your inventory, if those options are switched on.[2]
Unverified Which of these options are on by default in this pack, and the exact default keys, are not shown in the sources here. The mod's config and the controls menu in game are where to check.
How does Inventory Essentials work?
3 parts
Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.24.0 guide
Inventory Essentials is about moving, dropping, refilling and sorting items in your inventory and in containers. The only material available for it here is its own language file, so this section covers what its options and key bindings describe.[2]
Moving items between inventories
Each transfer shortcut has its own option and its own key binding, and the bindings are grouped under the Inventory Essentials key category. The options describe these behaviours:[2]
- Transfer one: ctrl-clicking moves only one item at a time instead of the full stack.[2]
- Transfer all of type: shift-ctrl-clicking moves all items of the same type at once.[2]
- Transfer all: space-clicking an item moves all items from that inventory at once. A separate option decides whether Transfer All still moves everything when you click an empty slot.[2]
- One of each: control-space-clicking an item moves one of each item from that inventory at once.[2]
- Transfer on hover: holding shift and moving your mouse over items quick-transfers them without a click on each one.[2]
- Armor sets: space-clicking armor in your inventory swaps to all matching armor.[2]
The transfer, bulk drop and transfer-all bindings also have a separate "(Hold)" version in the key list, which is a modifier you hold while clicking.[2]
Dropping items
Bulk drop lets shift-ctrl-drop-clicking drop all items of the same type at once. The key list has a Bulk Drop binding and a Bulk Drop out of Screen binding, and each has a hold modifier too.[2]
Refilling and sorting
- Stack refill: depleted block stacks are automatically replaced from your inventory.[2]
- Tool refill: broken tools are automatically replaced from your inventory.[2]
- Sorting: middle-click sorts your inventory, and an option chooses how that sorting behaves. There is also a Sort Inventory key binding.[2]
- Container shortcuts: the key list includes Dump to Container, Restock Container and Restock Inventory. The sources only give their names, not exactly what each one moves.[2]
Another option forces the client implementation even on servers that have the mod installed. Its description says it is only useful for development, so you can ignore it.[2]
Unverified Which of these options are switched on in this pack, and how the sorting option is set, is not shown by the sources here. No config file for this mod is covered by them.
What changed in Inventory Essentials between versions?
1 part
FTB StoneBlock 4 1.23.0 ships Inventory Essentials 21.1.20, and the mod was already in the pack by this release or earlier.[3]
Inventory Essentials 21.1.20
- Fixed creative tab sorting not working unless a creative mode screen was opened at least once.[4]
That is the only change the mod's changelog gives for the version your pack uses.[3][4]

Items and blocks
We can't match this mod to the pack's item list: it registers as inventoryessentials, and the pack's recipe dump has nothing under that name. That means we found nothing, not that the mod adds nothing. Search the item browser
