What is Crystalix?
2 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 11 0.8.0-beta guide
Crystalix adds colored glass blocks that can do a lot more than just look pretty. This pack includes version 4.1.0 of the mod.[1][2]
The mod has only 3 different types of glass (this has been the case since version 2.3.0), and the first one is basically invisible. You can apply any color to any glass type, so the color combinations are practically endless.[1]
The Crystalix Wand
You change a block's properties with the Crystalix Wand. Hold V (the default key) to open the config window, then set the block's properties there.[1]
- Crouch while using the wand to edit all connecting blocks at once.[1]
- Hold CTRL to apply properties without applying color.[1]
- Press X to copy the properties of the block you are targeting onto the wand.[1]
- Left click or scroll down to cycle forwards, right click or scroll up to cycle backwards.[1]
Properties
Properties can be mixed and matched however you like. Here are the ones the mod offers:[1]
- Invisibility: the block has no visual, but keeps the properties of the glass.[1]
- Transparent: the texture is fully transparent and color only shows on a few specks.[1]
- Waterloggable: sets whether the block can be waterlogged.[1]
- Reinforced: indestructible to everything, including the wither and ender dragon, except a player mining it. It is also 10x harder to mine.[1]
- Shadeless: removes the shadows and shade from the block.[1]
- Redstone: the block emits a redstone signal of 15.[1]
- Conductor: the block conducts redstone through it like a solid block.[1]
- Ghost: makes the block passthrough for nothing, everything, only players, everything except players, only hostile mobs, everything except hostile mobs, only passive mobs, or everything except passive mobs.[1]
- Light: cycles through None, Light (glows at light level 15), Dark (blocks light like tinted glass) and Fake Light (glows at light level 15 but still allows mobs to spawn).[1]
- Color: opens the color picker so you can choose any color for your glass.[1]
How do you get started with Crystalix?
4 parts
Same as in the FTB StoneBlock 4 1.21.0 guide
Crystalix adds colored glass blocks with a lot of different functions. You craft the glass first, then use a wand to change what each block does and what color it is. Here is the order I'd go in.[1]
Step one: make some glass
There are only 3 kinds of glass: Crystalix Glass, Clear Crystalix Glass and Bordered Crystalix Glass. You can apply any color to any of the 3 types, so the choice is mostly about the look of the base block. The recipes are shown below.[1][3][4]

The pack changed this recipe, so follow the one shown here.
The bordered glass recipe is the one the pack has changed, so use the recipe shown above and not what you may remember from the mod elsewhere. The other glass recipes are the mod's own.[3]
Next: craft the Crystalix Wand
The Crystalix Wand is the tool that makes the mod work. It lets you cycle through the properties of a block and set them, so make it right after your first glass blocks.[1]
Crafting Shaped
| Empty slot | any block | any diamond gem |
| Empty slot | any block | |
| Empty slot | Empty slot |
Recipe id: crystalix:crystalix_wand
This is the mod's own recipe, unchanged by the pack.
Step three: learn the wand controls
- Hold V (the default key) to open the wand config window. The key bind is called Open Wand Config and sits in the Crystalix category.[1][4]
- Left click or scroll down cycles forward through the options. Right click or scroll up cycles backward.[1]
- Crouching lets you edit all connecting blocks at once.[1]
- Hold CTRL to apply properties without applying the color.[1]
- Press X to copy the properties from the block you are currently targeting onto the wand.[1]
Step four: try a few properties
Properties can be mixed however you like. Good ones to start with are Color, which opens a color picker, Waterloggable, Light and Redstone. The Redstone property makes a block emit a signal of 15. The Light property has modes, including one that glows at light level 15 and one that blocks light like tinted glass.[1][4]
How does Crystalix work?
5 parts
Crystalix is a simple mod in terms of systems. The sources show no machines, multiblocks, power or fluid handling. Everything revolves around colored glass blocks and one tool, the Crystalix Wand, which you use to set each block's color and properties.[4]
The three glass types
There are three kinds of glass: Crystalix Glass, Clear Crystalix Glass and Bordered Crystalix Glass. Any color can be applied to any of them, so the glass type is really just a base look. Each block drops itself when broken.[1][4][6][7][8]

Only the bordered glass recipe is marked as changed by the pack. The other glass recipes and the wand recipe are the mod's own.[9]
Using the wand

The Crystalix Wand has its own key binding, "Open Wand Config", which opens the wand's config window where you pick the properties to apply.[4]
The mod's project page says that by default you open that window by holding V.[1]
- Left click cycles forward through the options, and right click cycles backward. Each also has a second input listed in the tooltip.[4]
- The mod's project page names scrolling down as the second forward input and scrolling up as the second backward input.[1]
- Middle click opens the color picker.[4]
- The project page says crouching lets you edit all connecting blocks at once.[1]
- The project page says holding CTRL applies the properties only, without the color. This matches the "Apply Colorless" toggle in the key bindings.[1][4]
- The project page says pressing X copies the properties from the block you're currently targeting onto the wand. In the key bindings this is "Copy Properties".[1][4]
If you select a very large number of blocks, the game warns you that it may take a few seconds.[4]
Edit limits in this pack
Some settings cap how much the wand can change at once. max_edit_force limits the total number of blocks that can be edited with the wand overall, and the pack sets it to 16,384. max_edit_operations limits how many blocks can be edited per tick, and the pack sets it to 512. Both match the mod's defaults, so the pack has not changed them.[10]
Properties
Properties can be mixed and matched however you like on the same block.[1]
- Color: opens the color picker so you can choose any color for the glass.[1][4]
- Invisible: the block will not be rendered at all.[4]
- Transparent: makes the texture fully transparent.[4]
- Waterloggable: sets whether you can place water in the same block.[1][4]
- Reinforced: nothing can destroy the block, including the wither and the ender dragon, except a player mining it. It also takes 10 times longer to mine.[1][4]
- Shadeless: the block will not display a shade thrown by other blocks.[4]
- Redstone: the block emits a redstone level of 15.[4]
- Conductor: redstone will be conducted through the block.[4]
Ghost and Light modes
Ghost lets certain mobs pass through the block. The project page lists these options: Nothing, Everything, Only Players, Everything except Players, Only Hostile Mobs, Everything except Hostile Mobs, Only Passive Mobs and Everything except Passive Mobs.[1][4]
Light makes the block emit or block light. The project page lists these modes: None adds no special property, Light glows at a light level of 15, Dark blocks light the same way as tinted glass, and Fake Light glows at level 15 but still allows mobs to spawn.[1][4]
How do you progress through Crystalix?
3 parts
Crystalix is a small decorative mod, and in this pack it comes down to a handful of crafting-table recipes. Progression here just means which block you craft first and what you do with it.[9]
The glass types
The mod adds Crystalix Glass, Clear Crystalix Glass and Bordered Crystalix Glass. Each is a plain crafting recipe that makes 4 blocks at a time, so a small amount of materials goes a long way.[9]
Crafting Shaped
| any glass blocks | any amethyst gem | any glass blocks |
| any amethyst gem | Empty slot | any amethyst gem |
| any glass blocks | any amethyst gem | any glass blocks |
Recipe id: crystalix:crystalix_glass
This is the mod's own recipe, and it makes 4 blocks.
Crafting Shaped
| any glass blocks | any quartz gem | any glass blocks |
| any quartz gem | Empty slot | any quartz gem |
| any glass blocks | any quartz gem | any glass blocks |
Recipe id: crystalix:clear_crystalix_glass
This is the mod's own recipe, and it makes 4 blocks.
The bordered glass is the one to watch. The pack has changed its recipe, so don't rely on what you remember from the mod's defaults. Use the recipe below.[9]
Crafting Shaped
| any glass blocks | any iron bar | any glass blocks |
| any iron bar | Empty slot | any iron bar |
| any glass blocks | any iron bar | any glass blocks |
Recipe id: crystalix:bordered_crystalix_glass
Changed by the pack, so this differs from the mod's own recipe.
When you break any of these glass blocks, it drops itself.[6][7][8]
The wand
The Crystalix Wand is the other thing to craft. Its recipe is the mod's own, and the block part accepts any Crystalix glass type, whether plain, clear or bordered. Craft whichever glass you made first.[9][11][12][13][14]
Crafting Shaped
| Empty slot | any block | any diamond gem |
| Empty slot | any block | |
| Empty slot | Empty slot |
Recipe id: crystalix:crystalix_wand
This is the mod's own recipe, unchanged by the pack.
What the wand does in play is not shown in the sources for this pack, so there are no mechanics to describe here.[9]
Suggested order
- Craft Crystalix Glass first. It is the base glass type.[9][14][15]
- Make Clear Crystalix Glass and Bordered Crystalix Glass when you want those looks. Use the pack's bordered recipe, not the mod default.[9]
- Craft the Crystalix Wand using any of your Crystalix glass blocks.[9][11][12][13][14]
Which Crystalix config options matter?
2 parts
Same as in the FTB StoneBlock 4 1.21.0 guide
A few Crystalix options change how Jade and the Wand overlay show up, and how many blocks the Wand can edit. Here's how this pack sets each one.[5][16]
Client options
- jade_mode is set to ALWAYS in this pack. The mod default is WAND, so this is a change the pack made. With ALWAYS, Jade shows whenever you look at a block. The other allowed values are WAND (only while holding a wand) and NEVER (never show Jade).[16]
- wand_info is TOP_RIGHT, which matches the mod default. It controls whether the wand information overlay shows and where. You can switch it to TOP_LEFT to anchor it to the top-left corner, or NONE to hide it.[16]
Common options
These options limit how many blocks the Wand can edit. Both use the mod's default values in this pack, so the pack hasn't changed them.[5]
- max_edit_force is 16,384. It caps the total number of blocks that can be edited with the wand overall.[5]
- max_edit_operations is 512. It sets the maximum number of blocks the wand can edit per tick.[5]
What changed in Crystalix between versions?
1 part
FTB StoneBlock 4 1.22.0 ships Crystalix 3.0.1. The mod has been in the pack since 1.0.1 or earlier, so it has been there for a long time.[17]
Mod changelogs
These are the notable changes from Crystalix's own changelogs, newest first.[18][19][20]
- 3.0.0: block migration was removed, so worlds from before 2.3.0 will lose their blocks.[18]
- 3.0.0: the block state count was reduced. This resolves an issue with WorldEdit and speeds up loading time.[18]
- 3.0.0: adds a fake dark property. It allows a block that renders no light on the client but still emits light on the server side.[18]
- 2.3.0b: fixes a crash during chunk migration. You only need it if you crash when connecting to a multiplayer server, and you can still connect to servers running 2.3.0.[19]
- 2.1.0: the Modrinth release.[20]
Unverified No pack changelog entries for Crystalix were available, and the changelog for the 3.0.1 version the pack ships was not among the sources, so changes in that release are unconfirmed.
