What is Crystalix?
2 parts
Crystalix adds colored glass blocks that can do a lot more than just look pretty. This pack includes version 4.1.0 of the mod.[1][2]
The mod has only 3 different types of glass (this has been the case since version 2.3.0), and the first one is basically invisible. You can apply any color to any glass type, so the color combinations are practically endless.[1]
The Crystalix Wand
You change a block's properties with the Crystalix Wand. Hold V (the default key) to open the config window, then set the block's properties there.[1]
- Crouch while using the wand to edit all connecting blocks at once.[1]
- Hold CTRL to apply properties without applying color.[1]
- Press X to copy the properties of the block you are targeting onto the wand.[1]
- Left click or scroll down to cycle forwards, right click or scroll up to cycle backwards.[1]
Properties
Properties can be mixed and matched however you like. Here are the ones the mod offers:[1]
- Invisibility: the block has no visual, but keeps the properties of the glass.[1]
- Transparent: the texture is fully transparent and color only shows on a few specks.[1]
- Waterloggable: sets whether the block can be waterlogged.[1]
- Reinforced: indestructible to everything, including the wither and ender dragon, except a player mining it. It is also 10x harder to mine.[1]
- Shadeless: removes the shadows and shade from the block.[1]
- Redstone: the block emits a redstone signal of 15.[1]
- Conductor: the block conducts redstone through it like a solid block.[1]
- Ghost: makes the block passthrough for nothing, everything, only players, everything except players, only hostile mobs, everything except hostile mobs, only passive mobs, or everything except passive mobs.[1]
- Light: cycles through None, Light (glows at light level 15), Dark (blocks light like tinted glass) and Fake Light (glows at light level 15 but still allows mobs to spawn).[1]
- Color: opens the color picker so you can choose any color for your glass.[1]
How do you get started with Crystalix?
3 parts
Crystalix adds colored glass blocks that can do a lot more than look pretty. The setup is short: make the glass, then make the wand that unlocks everything else.[1]
Step one: craft Crystalix Glass
Start with Crystalix Glass. This is the block you build with. The mod has 3 different versions of glass, and you can apply any color to any of them.[1][3]

Next: craft the Crystalix Wand
Next, make the Crystalix Wand. The mod's own tooltip says you need the wand to modify block properties and to reach the different textures and colors, so the glass is quite limited without it.[3][4]

Step three: learn the wand controls
The wand cycles through the glass properties. By default you open its config window by holding V. Here is what else you need to know:[1]
- Left click or scroll down cycles forward. Right click or scroll up cycles backward.[1][4]
- Crouching lets you edit all connecting blocks at once.[1]
- Holding CTRL applies the properties but not the color.[1][4]
- Pressing X copies the properties of the block you are currently targeting onto the wand.[1]
- The wand can open a color picker and a material picker. The materials are normal, bordered and clear.[4]
How does Crystalix work?
7 parts
Crystalix currently adds colored glass blocks with many different functions. Everything is driven by one tool, the Crystalix Wand, which sets properties on Crystalix Glass. This section covers how the wand and those properties currently work.[1][3][4]

Using the wand
The wand currently cycles through the available properties and sets them on a block. By default you hold V to open its config window. The in-game tooltips also say the wand is how you change block properties and reach the different textures and colors.[1][4]
- Left click or scroll down currently cycles forward. Right click or scroll up cycles backward.[1][4]
- Crouching currently lets you edit all connecting blocks at once.[1]
- Holding CTRL currently applies the properties without the color.[1]
- Pressing X currently copies the properties of the block you're targeting onto the wand.[1][4]
- The wand currently also has a key to highlight all Crystalix blocks around you, plus pickers for colors and materials.[4]
The wand's tooltips currently describe these apply modes. The default mode applies all properties. The colorless mode applies everything except the color. The exact mode only edits exact matches to the first block when you bulk-apply properties.[4]
Blocks, materials and color
The project page currently says that since version 2.3.0 there are only 3 types of glass, and you can apply any color to any of them. In the tooltips these show up as materials: normal is the default glass texture, bordered is the normal texture without the specs, and clear is a completely clear texture.[1][4]
The tinted setting currently controls how color is applied. When on, the glass uses the fully tinted texture. When off, it uses the non-tinted texture variant but still applies the selected tint.[4]
Properties
Properties can currently be mixed and matched however you like.[1]
- Invisible: the block is currently not rendered. This is handy when you want a block's properties without a visible block.[1][4]
- Waterloggable: currently decides whether the glass can change its waterlogged state.[1][4]
- Reinforced: when on, the glass currently can't be destroyed by anything except players, and it takes longer to break. The project page puts that at 10x harder to mine and says it even survives the wither and the ender dragon.[1][4]
- Shadeless: the block currently renders no shadows.[1][4]
- Conductor: when on, redstone signals currently pass through the block like a solid block. When off, they are blocked.[1][4]
- Redstone: the block currently emits a redstone signal. The project page says the level is 15, while the in-game tooltip says it emits a signal at the given level.[1][4]
Ghost mode
Ghost currently makes the block passable for a chosen group of entities. The in-game tooltips list these options: none, all, allow or block players, allow or block monsters, allow or block animals, and allow or block adults. The project page lists a shorter set: nothing, everything, and players, hostile mobs or passive mobs, each either alone or as an "everything except" option.[1][4]
Light modes
- None: currently no effect on lighting.[1][4]
- Light: currently emits light level 15.[1][4]
- Dark: currently blocks surrounding light from passing through, like tinted glass.[1][4]
- Fake light: currently renders light with no real impact, so mobs can still spawn.[1][4]
- Fake dark: currently doesn't render the light effect but keeps a real impact, such as blocking mob spawns.[4]
Config options
The mod's language file currently describes these options, and the values below are the mod's defaults.[4]
- jade_mode currently decides when Jade is displayed. The options are ALWAYS, WAND (only while holding a wand) and NEVER, and the default is WAND.[4]
- max_block_edits currently sets how many blocks the wand's multi-block edit mode handles before it stops. The default is 262,144.[4]
- max_block_edits_per_tick currently sets the maximum number of blocks modified in a single tick by multi-block edit. The default is 256, and the tooltip suggests lowering it if you have performance issues.[4]
- show_wand_tooltips currently shows the property tooltips on the wand. The default is false.[4]
Unverified The sources here include no config file for this mod in the pack, so they do not show whether the pack changes any of these default values.
How do you progress through Crystalix?
2 parts
The sources for this pack show no tier ladder for Crystalix, so there is no tier breakdown to walk you through. What they do show is a pair of crafted items: Crystalix Glass and Crystalix Wand. Each one is made with a shaped crafting recipe.[3]
