Applied Delight is a mod in FTB StoneBlock 4 1.23.0, where it is version 1.1.0. A mod that allows Applied Energistics 2 and Farmer's Delight to work together! (Summary from the mod's Modrinth page.)

What is Applied Delight?

3 parts

Applied Delight is a small bridge mod that lets Applied Energistics 2 and Farmer's Delight work together. It adds one block, the ME Cooking Pot, which is a Farmer's Delight cooking pot that pulls its ingredients straight from your ME network. The pack includes version 1.1.0.[1][2]

Who it's for

If you already run an ME system and cook with Farmer's Delight, this one is for you. Farmer's Delight does the cooking and Applied Energistics 2 supplies the ingredients, so you don't have to carry stacks of food items around.[1]

What the ME Cooking Pot does

  • It cooks any Farmer's Delight cooking-pot recipe, including ones added by other Farmer's Delight add-ons. Like the normal pot, it needs a heat source below it.[1]
  • Its recipe panel lists every cooking-pot recipe with a live count of how many you can make right now from your inventory and your ME network combined. You can search, sort A-Z, or filter to only what you can craft.[1]
  • Click a recipe to load one serving, or shift-click to load as many as the ingredients, the pot, and its battery allow. Once loaded, the pot cooks on its own and you can walk away.[1]
  • It uses your own inventory first, and only network pulls cost power. Milk and water can come from the network's fluid storage when no bucket or bottle is stocked.[1]
  • Finished meals wait in the pot until you supply their container, either by hand or with a button that requests it from the network. A second button returns everything to storage.[1]

Getting started

  1. Craft an ME Cooking Pot from a Farmer's Delight cooking pot.[1]
  2. Place it on a heat source such as a campfire or stove.[1]
  3. Link it to a Wireless Access Point on your network.[1]
  4. Charge it, open it, and pick a recipe.[1]

The mod page says the exact crafting recipe is visible in JEI, EMI or REI, and in the mod's in-game guide book.[1]

Unverified The sources I was given don't show any quests for this mod or a place for it on the ATM Star path, so I can't say where it fits in the pack's progression.

How do you get started with Applied Delight?

3 parts

The ME Cooking Pot is a Farmer's Delight cooking pot that draws its ingredients from an ME network. So the whole getting-started path is about this one block and the setup around it.[3]

Craft the ME Cooking Pot

Start by crafting the pot itself. This is the exact recipe in this pack:[4]

Set it up

  1. Place the pot with a heat source beneath it. It still needs heat to cook.[3]
  2. Link it to your network by placing it in a Wireless Access Point's slot. The tooltip tells you whether it's linked or not.[3]
  3. Charge its battery. You can use an AE2 Charger, any FE source, or an energy cable against the side of a placed pot.[3]
  4. Open the pot and pick a recipe from the panel. The pot pulls everything it needs, from your inventory first, then the network.[3]

The recipe panel lists every cooking-pot recipe, with a live count of how many you can make right now from your inventory and your ME network combined. You can search, sort A to Z, or filter to only what you can craft. Click a recipe to load one serving, or shift-click to load as many as the ingredients, the pot and its battery allow. Once it's loaded, you can walk away and let it cook.[1]

Collect your meals

Finished meals stay in the pot until you give it serving containers. You can hand them over yourself or use the request button, which asks the network for them. Another button returns everything to storage.[1][3]

Tip: Only items pulled from the network cost battery. The pot uses your own inventory before the network, so stocking ingredients in your inventory saves power.[3]

Every Farmer's Delight cooking-pot recipe works, including ones added by Farmer's Delight add-ons. Milk and water can also come from the network's fluid storage when you have no bucket or bottle stocked.[1]

How does Applied Delight work?

5 parts

Applied Delight adds a single block, the ME Cooking Pot. It's a Farmer's Delight cooking pot that pulls its ingredients from your Applied Energistics 2 network. That keeps the mod's mechanics simple: Farmer's Delight does the cooking and AE2 supplies the items.[1][3]

Crafting the pot

This is the in-pack recipe. It starts from a Farmer's Delight cooking pot.

Heat and linking

The ME Cooking Pot still needs a heat source underneath it, just like the normal Farmer's Delight pot. A campfire or a stove both work.[1][3]

To connect it to your network, place it in a Wireless Access Point's slot. Its tooltip tells you whether it's currently linked to a Wireless Access Point or not linked to a network.[3]

Picking a recipe and cooking

Open the pot and you get a recipe panel listing every cooking-pot recipe. Each entry shows a live count of how many you can make right now from your inventory and your ME network combined. You can search, sort A to Z, or filter to only what you can craft.[1]

Click a recipe to load one serving. Shift-click to load as many as the ingredients, the pot and its battery allow. Once it's loaded, the pot has everything it needs and just cooks, so you can walk away.[1]

The pot takes ingredients from your own inventory first and only then from the network. Milk and water can come from the network's fluid storage when no bucket or bottle is stocked. Every Farmer's Delight cooking-pot recipe works, including ones from other Farmer's Delight add-ons.[1][3]

Some ingredients leave an empty container behind, like the bucket from a milk bucket. In this pack, meCookingPot.returnRemaindersToNetwork is true, so those containers go back into your network. If it were false they would drop on the floor, as in the vanilla Farmer's Delight pot.[5]

The recipe list is controlled by meCookingPot.showAllRecipes, which is true here. That means you see every Farmer's Delight cooking recipe, not just the ones you've unlocked.[5]

Serving the meal

Finished meals stay in the pot until you give it their serving containers. You can hand them over yourself or use the request button, which asks the network for them. A second button returns everything to storage.[1][3]

Battery and power

The pot has its own internal battery. It pays for network access, not for the heat that cooks the food. Only items pulled from the network cost battery, so anything taken from your own inventory is free.[3][5]

You can charge it in an AE2 Charger, from any FE source, or with an energy cable placed against the side of a placed pot.[3]

The pack leaves all the power values at the mod defaults:[5]

Watch out: Keeping the link open isn't free. If the battery can't pay the idle drain, the pot drops offline until you recharge it, so keep it topped up even when you aren't cooking.[5]

How do you progress through Applied Delight?

The sources show a single Applied Delight item in this pack: the ME Cooking Pot. That means progression for this mod comes down to one craft, with no further tiers to climb.[4]

The ME Cooking Pot is made with a shaped crafting recipe. Its ingredients come from other mods, so you need to have progressed in those before you can build it. Here is the exact in-pack recipe:[4]

This is the only Applied Delight recipe in the pack's recipe dump.

The mod also ships an in-game guide with a page for the ME Cooking Pot. Open it in-game for the mod's own explanation of the pot.[6]

How does Applied Delight work with other mods?

4 parts

Applied Delight is a bridge mod. It adds a single block, the ME Cooking Pot, which connects Farmer's Delight cooking with an Applied Energistics 2 network. Both mods are required, so every integration here comes down to that one block.[1]

Farmer's Delight: the cooking side

The ME Cooking Pot is built from a Farmer's Delight Cooking Pot. It cooks real Farmer's Delight cooking pot recipes, including ones added by other Farmer's Delight add-ons. Like the regular pot, it needs a heat source below it, such as a campfire or a stove.[1][4]

Applied Energistics 2: the ingredient side

The AE2 side supplies the ingredients. You link the pot to a Wireless Access Point on your network, and it can pull items from your ME storage. The recipe panel in the pot shows how many of each dish you can make right now, counting your own inventory and your ME network together.[1]

The pot uses your own inventory before it touches the network, and only network pulls cost power. Milk and water can come from the network's fluid storage when you have no bucket or bottle stocked.[1]

The crafting recipe is where the two mods meet. It combines a Farmer's Delight cooking pot with several AE2 items: an Dense Energy Cell, an ME Terminal and an Wireless Receiver. That means you need some AE2 progress before you can make one.[4]

Quests

Unverified No pack quests that involve Applied Delight were found in the provided sources, so there is no quest-based connection to describe.

Which Applied Delight config options matter?

2 parts

All of the Applied Delight settings that matter live in one file, meCookingPot.batteryCapacity and its siblings under the meCookingPot section. They control how much power the ME Cooking Pot uses to pull ingredients from your network. The pack doesn't change any of the numeric values, so the mod's defaults apply.[5]

Power settings

  • meCookingPot.batteryCapacity is 200,000 AE units in the pack, the same as the mod default. You charge the battery in an AE2 Charger or any FE charger. It pays for network access, not for the heat that cooks the food.[5]
  • meCookingPot.drainPerIngredient is 20 in the pack, the same as the mod default. That is the AE drained for each ingredient pulled from the ME network. Setting it to 0 makes pulling free, so heat would be the only cost of cooking.[5]
  • meCookingPot.idleDrainPerTick is 1 in the pack, the same as the mod default. The pot drains this much AE every tick while it holds a live link to the network, even when idle. If the battery can't pay, the pot drops offline until you recharge it. Setting it to 0 makes an open link free.[5]
Tip: Keeping the network link open isn't free, so an idle pot still slowly eats its battery. If your pot goes offline, recharge the battery first.[5]

Behavior settings

  • meCookingPot.returnRemaindersToNetwork is true in the pack. Empty containers left by cooked ingredients, like the empty bucket from a milk bucket, go back into your network. If it were false, they would drop on the floor, which is what the vanilla Farmer's Delight pot does.[5]
  • meCookingPot.showAllRecipes is true in the pack, so the recipe list shows every Farmer's Delight cooking recipe. If it were false, you would only see recipes you have unlocked.[5]

Unverified The sources don't list mod defaults for the two behavior settings, so I can't confirm whether the pack changed them.

What changed in Applied Delight between versions?

2 parts

FTB StoneBlock 4 1.21.0 ships Applied Delight 1.1.0. The mod has been in the pack since 1.17.0 or earlier, so you may have been using it for a while without knowing about the newer changes.[2]

Applied Delight 1.1.0

  • You can now power a placed ME Cooking Pot from energy cables. Run any Forge Energy cable (Mekanism, Flux, and the like) into one of its sides and it charges the battery and keeps it topped up, so a stationary pot never runs down.[7]
  • If you pick the pot up, it runs on the stored charge as before. The item can still be charged in an AE2 Charger or any FE charger.[7]
  • Translations were added for 10 languages: German, Spanish, French, Italian, Korean, Brazilian Portuguese, Russian, Swedish, Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese.[7]

Applied Delight 1.0.1

This was a small release. The logo image was replaced with a properly sourced asset, and nothing about gameplay changed.[8]

Tip: If you have a cooking pot sitting in your base, plug an FE cable into one of its sides and the battery stays charged without any manual recharging.[7]
