Sophisticated Storage In Motion turns your Sophisticated Storage containers into vehicles. In this pack you get the Storage Boat and the Storage Minecart. Here is the order I'd go in.[2][3]
Your first crafts
- Make a storage boat from a container you already own. The recipe accepts any Sophisticated Storage container, so start with whichever one you have. Several wood types have their own recipe, and the oak one is shown below.[2]
- If you already have a vanilla chest boat, convert it instead of building from scratch. The wood types with a conversion recipe include birch, shown below, and the result carries a Sophisticated Storage chest.[2]
- Want to sail on bamboo? That wood has its own raft recipe, shown below.[2]
- For rails, convert a vanilla chest minecart into a storage minecart.[2]

Upgrading the container later
You don't have to rebuild a vehicle to get a better container. The mod has tier upgrade recipes that improve the container on a boat or minecart directly. The sources list 70 shaped and 14 shapeless upgrade recipes, and they are marked as changed by the pack, so go by the recipes below rather than the mod's defaults.[2]

How does Sophisticated Storage In Motion work?

Sophisticated Storage In Motion is about taking your Sophisticated Storage containers out of the base and putting them on the move. The pack's language file shows storage boats, storage rafts, storage minecarts and a chested horse that carries storage. Names follow a pattern: the vehicle first, then the storage it carries, like "Boat with" and a storage name.[3]
Making a storage boat
The main item here is Storage Boat. Boats get one recipe per wood type, and bamboo uses a raft instead. They all work the same way: you craft a plain boat or raft together with a Sophisticated Storage container, and you get a boat carrying that storage. The pack has 10 recipes of this kind.[2][3]

How do you progress through Sophisticated Storage In Motion?

Progression with this mod is all about recipes, and the path is simple: get a storage vehicle, then climb the container tiers on it, from copper up to netherite.[4]
Step 1: Get a storage vehicle
The easiest way in is to convert a vanilla vehicle. A vanilla chest boat of any wood type (including the bamboo chest raft) plus a redstone torch becomes a Storage Boat carrying a Sophisticated Storage chest. A vanilla chest minecart plus a redstone torch becomes a Storage Minecart the same way. Both are shapeless crafts.[4]

Step 2: Climb the tiers
The mod adds upgrade recipes that turn a storage boat carrying one tier of container into a storage boat carrying the next. The tiers in these recipes run: basic, copper, iron, gold, diamond, netherite.[4]
- Basic to copper: a shaped recipe that uses a copper ingot, giving you a Copper Chest or Copper Barrel on the boat.[4]
- Basic to iron, or copper to iron: both are shaped recipes that use an iron ingot.[4]
- Iron to gold: a shaped recipe that uses a gold ingot.[4]
- Gold to diamond: a shaped recipe that uses a diamond.[4]
- Diamond to netherite: a shapeless recipe that uses a netherite ingot, unlike the shaped recipes at the lower tiers.[4]

Barrels, limited barrels and shulker boxes
Barrels follow the same ladder as chests: basic to copper or iron, copper to iron, then gold, diamond and netherite, each with its own recipe and the same ingredient type per step.[4]
Limited barrels (I to IV) have their own upgrade recipes. For all four sizes, a basic limited barrel can go to copper or to iron, a copper one to iron, and a diamond one to netherite. The gold to diamond step is confirmed for the limited barrel I.[4]
Shulker boxes on storage boats can be upgraded too. The recipes confirmed here cover copper to iron, iron to gold, gold to diamond, and diamond to netherite.[4]

Every vanilla chest boat has its own conversion recipe, from Oak Chest Boat and Cherry Chest Boat through to Bamboo Chest Raft. The result is a Storage Boat carrying a Chest. The sources list these as the mod's own recipes, not ones the pack changed.[2]
