What is Simple Conveyor Belts?

2 parts

Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 guide

Simple Conveyor Belts is a basic conveyor belt mod. It adds spline-based item belts that carry items from point A to point B, so you can build item logistics in whatever shape you like. This pack includes version 0.2.2, the NeoForge build for Minecraft 1.21.1.[1][2]

It's designed to work with any item storage mod, so you can link one inventory to another with a belt that curves however you need, for example starting from a chest. The mod is still in beta, so issues may turn up.[1]

What you get

  • A Conveyor Belt item, plus optional Support and Chute blocks.[1]
  • Fully dynamic belts: only the start and end need to sit on blocks, and everything in between can curve, bend and twist freely.[1]
  • Transfer speed of about 1 stack per second.[1]
  • Smart overflow handling: if the destination is full, items visibly pile up on the belt.[1]
  • Easy filtering: click a conveyor chute with an item to set it as the filter. Smart Filters from the FTB Filters mod work too.[1]
  • Shader compatibility with Iris and Oculus.[1]

Quick start

  1. Optionally place Chute blocks where the belt will start and end. They can also be placed automatically when you use the belt item.[1]
  2. Optionally place Support blocks along the path to shape the curve.[1]
  3. Right-click the belt item on a starting inventory, such as a chest.[1]
  4. Walk to the destination inventory and right-click it to finish. The path connects the two points automatically.[1]
Watch out: Belt entity collisions and hitboxes, and entity movement, are only planned features. Don't expect to ride or stand on the belts yet.[1]

How do you get started with Simple Conveyor Belts?

4 parts

Simple Conveyor Belts is a small mod, so getting started is quick. You craft a belt item, pick two inventories (a chest works), and the belt links them with a curved path. Items move from point A to point B at roughly 1 stack per second.[1]

Step 1: Craft the Conveyor Belt

The Conveyor Belt is the only thing you strictly need. It's the item you use to build the belt, and it can make belts of any shape and size. This pack gives you a main crafting recipe for it and an alternative one, and each makes 8 belts.[3][4]

Step 2: Chutes (optional)

The Conveyor Item Chute attaches to any inventory block, and belts connect to it. You don't have to place chutes yourself, because the belt item automatically places them at the start and end. One craft makes 16.[1][3][4]

Makes 16 chutes.

Right-click a chute with an item to set that item as its filter.[4]

Step 3: Supports (optional)

The Conveyor Support guides the belt's path. Place supports wherever you want the belt to bend, and click them with the belt item to add midpoints. One craft makes 4.[3][4]

Building your first belt

  1. Right-click the belt item on the inventory where items should start, such as a chest. You'll see "Stored Start!".[1][4]
  2. Optional: click any conveyor supports along the way to add midpoints and shape the curve.[1][4]
  3. Walk to the destination inventory and right-click it to finish. You'll see "Created Belt!" and the path connects automatically.[1][4]
Tip: Made a mistake? Hold Shift and right-click without targeting a block to reset the belt you're building.[4]
Tip: If the destination is full, items visibly pile up on the belt instead of disappearing.[1]
Watch out: The mod is still in beta, so you may run into bugs. If you see "Chute already in use!" when clicking a chute, that chute can't be used for the belt you're building.[1][4]

How does Simple Conveyor Belts work?

5 parts

Simple Conveyor Belts moves items from point A to point B along a spline-based belt. Only the start and the end have to sit on blocks. Everything in between can curve, bend and twist freely. The mod is still in beta.[1]

The three pieces

  • Conveyor Belt: the item you use to draw a belt between two points. It automatically places Item Chutes at the start and end, though you can place them yourself first.[1][4]
  • Conveyor Item Chute: attach it to any inventory block, and the belt attaches to the chute. Right-click it with an item to set that item as a filter.[4]
  • Conveyor Support: used to guide the belt path. Click supports with the belt item to add optional midpoints that shape the curve.[1][4]

Building a belt

  1. Optionally place chutes where the belt will start and end. If you skip this, the belt item places them for you.[1][4]
  2. Optionally place supports along the path to shape the curve.[1]
  3. Right-click the belt item on your starting inventory, for example a chest. The game confirms with "Stored Start!". You can also click an existing chute to mark it as the start.[1][4]
  4. Click any supports you want the belt to pass through. Each one is confirmed with "Stored Midpoint!", and clicking the same one twice gives "Midpoint is already stored."[4]
  5. Walk to the destination inventory and right-click it to finish. You get "Created Belt!" and the path auto-connects between the two points.[1][4]
Tip: Made a mistake halfway through? Shift + right-click with the belt item without targeting a block to reset. The game says "Reset Belt!".[4]

If you see "Chute already in use!", the chute you clicked is already in use, so pick a different one.[4]

Filtering

To filter what a belt carries, click a conveyor chute with an item to set it as the filter. You will see "Item Filter Set". This also works on existing connected chutes, and the game says "Item Filter Reset" when a filter is cleared. The chute also supports smart filters from the FTB Filters mod, if you want something more flexible than a single item.[1][4]

Speed and overflow

Belts transfer roughly 1 stack per second. If the destination is full, items visibly pile up on the belt instead of disappearing, so a backed-up line is easy to spot.[1]

Belt entity collisions/hitboxes and entity movement are only listed as planned features, so for now treat belts as an item logistics tool, not a way to move yourself or mobs.[1]

Crafting in this pack

The belt item can be crafted with either of these recipes in this pack, so you can use whichever ingredients you have handy.[3]

How do you progress through Simple Conveyor Belts?

2 parts

Simple Conveyor Belts is a small mod in this pack. The recipe data shows its items are all made with plain shaped crafting at a crafting table. I can't point you to a quest chapter for it, so the recipes below are your whole path.[3]

The belt

Conveyor Belt is the core piece. The pack has a pair of shaped recipes for it, and each gives 8 belts per craft. Use whichever suits the materials you have on hand.[3]

Conveyor Support is the Conveyor Support. Each craft gives you 4 of them, so you get fewer supports per craft than chutes.[3]

What changed in Simple Conveyor Belts between versions?

1 part

FTB Skies 2: Aero 1.10.0 ships Simple Conveyor Belts 0.2.2. The mod has been in the pack since Aero 1.0.3 or earlier, so it's been part of the experience from the start.[5]

0.2.2 changes

The 0.2.2 update is a stability release. Both of its changes fix crashes:[6]

  • Fixed a crash when placing a conveyor chute block on floors.[6]
  • Fixed a potential crash when invalid conveyors are destroyed.[6]

The pack changelogs have no entries for this mod, so there's nothing pack-specific to report beyond the version it includes.[5]
