Stuck? Why it might not be working
- FTB Quests: the quest says 100%, or the task refuses what you haveTwo things account for most of this in All the Mods 10 8.2, and neither is the one people look for. A quest whose tasks are all done does not close itself — the pack turns auto-claim off, so it shows a button and waits. And a task matches on the item you have far more narrowly than its icon suggests: 858 of the book's item tasks display an item carrying specific data, and only 223 of them actually check it. The detection mechanisms are real but no reporter is recorded hitting one.Written for other versions than FTB Skies 2: Aero 1.13.0 ships. Some steps may no longer match.

What is FTB Quests?
Same as in the All the Mods 10 7.2 guide
FTB Quests is included in this pack as version 2101.1.27, using the NeoForge build of the mod. It has been part of the pack since pack version 2.25 or earlier, so it's been around for most of the pack's life.[1]
Unverified The available sources don't describe what FTB Quests does, who it's aimed at, or how it fits into this pack's progression, so those details are left out until they can be confirmed.
How do you get started with FTB Quests?
4 parts
Same as in the FTB StoneBlock 4 1.21.0 guide
FTB Quests adds a small set of craftable items to the pack, and every one of them has a simple recipe. Here is the order I'd make them in.[2]
The Quest Book
Start with the Quest Book. Its recipe is shapeless, so the ingredients can go anywhere in the crafting grid.[2]
The Loot Crate Opener
Next is the Loot Crate Opener. It is a block, and when you right-click it, it shows how many items it has stored ("Stored items"). Its recipe is shaped, so follow the pattern shown below.[2][3]

Task Screens
The Task Screen (1x1) is where every screen starts. The 3x3, 5x5 and 7x7 recipes all use the smaller screens, so craft the 1x1 first and work upwards.[2]
Once you have a 1x1, you can make the Task Screen (3x3). After that come the Task Screen (5x5) and the Task Screen (7x7).[2]

The Task Screen Configurator
Finally, make the Task Screen Configurator. Its recipe also builds on the 1x1 screen. The screen settings in the mod include Size, Skin, Task Index, Fullscreen, Hide Icons, Indestructible, Input Only, Input Mode Icon and Draw Text Shadows. If you see "You don't have permission to configure this!", you are not allowed to change that screen.[2][3]

How does FTB Quests work?
7 parts
FTB Quests is mostly about the quest book, but it also adds blocks that connect quests to the world: chests, detectors, screens and barriers. The sources for this pack only give short descriptions of most of them, so this section sticks to what they show.[4]
Getting the Quest Book
In this pack, the first time you join a party (team) you are handed a Quest Book automatically. It is only given once per player, and the book can also be crafted.[5][6]
Quest Chest: item input and rewards
The Quest Chest has an Input Slot and an Output Slot. You place items in the Input Slot to complete quests, and rewards appear in the Output Slot. It also has an "Auto-Transfer All Items" option.[4]
Task screens
Task screens come in sizes 1x1, 3x3, 5x5 and 7x7: Task Screen (1x1), Task Screen (3x3), Task Screen (5x5) and Task Screen (7x7). The recipes for each size are shown below.[4][6]

The Task Screen Configurator is the item made from a 1x1 screen and a stick. The screen's settings include Size, Skin, Task Index, Fullscreen, Hide Icons, Draw Text Shadows, Input Only, Input Mode Icon and Indestructible. If you lack permission to change them, you get the message "You don't have permission to configure this!".[4][6]

A screen whose data is gone shows the message "Broken Block / Missing Data!".[4]
Detectors
- Quest Detector: has a Task setting and a Notifications option. There are a Player Detector and a Redstone Detector.[4]
- Player Detector: configured with Radius, Height and Offset Y.[4]
- Redstone Detector: configured with a Required Redstone Level.[4]
- Quest Progress Detector: configured with an Object ID and an Output Level.[4]
Barriers
The Quest Barrier has an Object ID and an "Invisible When Open" option. There is also a Stage Barrier. Barriers can teleport you: the destination can be relative to the barrier block, the dimension can be left empty to stay in the current one, and the facing is set by yaw and pitch. For yaw, 0 is South, 90 is West, 180 is North and 270 is East. For pitch, positive values look down and negative values look up.[4]
Loot crates
The Loot Crate Opener shows "Stored items" with a count when you right-click it. A separate Loot Crate Storage block also exists.[4]

Progression rules
The quest file has a progression mode, either Linear or Flexible. In Linear, a quest must be complete before the quests that depend on it are started. In Flexible, tasks in dependent quests can be progressed at any time, but those quests can't be completed until their dependency is.[4]
- Sequential tasks: when enabled, tasks must be completed in the exact order they were added to the quest. This can be set per chapter or per quest.[4]
- OR quests: if Min Required Dependencies is above 0, only that many dependencies are needed to unlock the quest.[4]
- Exclusive branches: Max Completable Dependents limits how many dependent quests can be completed, and the rest become unavailable.[4]
- Repeatable quests: the repeat cooldown is the delay in seconds between claiming all the rewards and being able to redo the tasks.[4]
- Detection delay: the minimum interval, in ticks, between checks of a player's inventory when it changes. Higher values are kinder on server TPS but delay the auto-completion messages.[4]
Unverified FTB Quests has settings such as the progression mode, the detection delay and "Drop FTB Quests Book on Death", but the sources here include no FTB Quests config files, so which values this pack uses is not shown. Check the quest file settings in game.
How do you progress through FTB Quests?
3 parts
The recipes in this pack show one clear step-by-step ladder for FTB Quests: the Task Screen sizes. They run from 1x1 up to 7x7, and each size is crafted from the smaller ones.[6]
Task Screen sizes
You start with the Task Screen (1x1). The Task Screen (3x3) is made from the 1x1 screen. The Task Screen (5x5) uses the 1x1 and the 3x3. The Task Screen (7x7) uses the 1x1, the 3x3 and the 5x5. So you work your way up one size at a time.[6]

Getting your Quest Book
The pack hands you the Quest Book. When you join a party, a pack script gives you one if you haven't received it before, and it records that you got it so you aren't given another each time you join a party. If you ever lose yours, you can craft a new one.[5][6]
