What is AE2 Labeled Patterns?
2 parts
AE2 Labeled Patterns is a small add-on for Applied Energistics 2 that lets you label your pattern providers, so your patterns stay organised instead of piling up in one long list. This pack includes version 1.0.5 of the mod.[1][2]
What you get
- The Labeler is a tool that labels or renames any pattern provider.[2][3]
- The ME Labeled Pattern Access Terminal shows your patterns grouped by label. It keeps all the basic functions of the normal ME Pattern Access Terminal, and there is also a wireless version, Wireless Labeled Pattern Access Terminal.[2][4]
- In the new terminal you can shift click encoded patterns to move them quickly between your inventory and the pattern slots.[2]
How it works in practice
Hold the labeler and right click in the air to open its screen, where you type a label and save it. Then shift right click a pattern provider block to apply the label. The labeler has 5 modes: Single Set, Single Clear, Area Set, Area Clear and Copy. Hold Shift and scroll the mouse wheel to switch between them.[3]
The labeled terminal adds 3 new buttons compared to the normal version: Label Filter, Show Group Selection and Quick Move Convenience. Together they let you filter by label and pick a group as the target for quick moves.[4]
How do you get started with AE2 Labeled Patterns?
5 parts
This mod lets you put labels on AE2 pattern providers, then view your patterns grouped by those labels in a new terminal. If your pattern setup is getting messy, it fixes that. In this pack, the order below works best.[2]
Step 1: Make the Labeler
Start with the Labeler. It is the tool that applies, renames and clears labels on pattern providers, and the terminal recipe needs it, so it comes first.[3][5]

Step 2: Make the labeled terminal
Next, craft the ME Labeled Pattern Access Terminal. It keeps all the basic functions of the normal ME Pattern Access Terminal and shows your patterns separated by label.[4][5]

Step 3: Label your pattern providers
- Right click in the air with the Labeler to open its screen. Type a label in the input field and save it.[3]
- Hold the Labeler and shift right-click a pattern provider block. The default mode is Single Set, and you get a chat message confirming the label was applied.[3][6]
- Open the labeled terminal and use the Label Filter button. It indexes every label the grid has found in your pattern providers, and the screen then shows the matching providers.[4]
Labeling many providers at once
The Labeler has 5 modes: Single Set, Single Clear, Area Set, Area Clear and Copy. Hold Shift and scroll the mouse wheel to switch between them. In the area modes you shift right-click two blocks to define the area, and every block inside gets checked.[3]
The area size is capped by maxAllowBlockSpace. The pack sets it to 128, the same as the mod default. If your selection is bigger, the game tells you the area is too big.[6][7]
Optional: take it wireless
Once the wired terminal is working for you, you can craft the Wireless Labeled Pattern Access Terminal to reach your labeled patterns away from the terminal block.[5][6]
Crafting Shaped
Recipe id: ae2labeledpatterns:wireless_labeled_pattern_access_terminal
The terminal also has Show Group Selection and Quick Move Convenience buttons, which help you shift click encoded patterns straight into providers. Those are worth a look once your labels are set up.[4]
How does AE2 Labeled Patterns work?
6 parts
This mod is all about keeping your AE2 pattern setups tidy. It revolves around 3 items: the Labeler, the ME Labeled Pattern Access Terminal and the Wireless Labeled Pattern Access Terminal. You tag pattern providers with labels, then the terminal groups your patterns by those labels.[2][5][6]
The Labeler GUI
Right click in the air with the labeler to open its GUI. In the centre there is an input field for the label and a button to save it. Make sure you save the label after you edit it.[3]
The left toolbar has a block-input switch that controls whether the input field can be edited (the game calls it Lock Edit). There is also a button that opens the saved label list, where you can select any label as the current one or delete labels you no longer need.[3][6]
The rename button turns the rename function on or off. While it is on, every operation affects the provider's custom name instead of its label. For example, with the label set to "Machine" and rename on, applying it renames the pattern provider to "Machine" instead of giving it the label "Machine".[3][6]

Applying and clearing labels
Hold the labeler and shift right-click a pattern provider block. You get a chat message confirming the label was applied. If you use a tooltip mod like Jade, the provider's tooltip shows the applied label.[3]
The labeler has 5 modes. Hold Shift and scroll the mouse wheel up or down to switch between them. The key binding behind that Shift is named "mouse wheel item modifier 1" by default.[3]
- Single Set (default): shift right-click a pattern provider to apply the current label.[3]
- Single Clear: shift right-click a pattern provider to clear its label.[3]
- Area Set: shift right-click two blocks to define an area, and every block in it is checked and given the current label.[3]
- Area Clear: shift right-click two blocks to define an area, and every block in it is checked and cleared.[3]
- Copy: shift right-click a pattern provider to copy its label. It becomes the labeler's current label and is also saved in the label list.[3]
To change the current label quickly, hold Alt and scroll the mouse wheel. That key binding is named "mouse wheel item modifier 2" by default, and it steps through your saved labels.[3]
Area limits
Area modes have a size cap. In this pack maxAllowBlockSpace is set to 128, which is also the mod default, and any value above 0 is accepted. If your area is bigger than the limit, you get an "area is too big" message telling you the maximum. The labeler also refuses a second point that is in a different dimension from the first.[6][7]
The Labeled Pattern Access Terminal
This terminal shows patterns in separate groups according to their labels, and it keeps all the basic functions of the normal ME Pattern Access Terminal. It also lets you shift click encoded patterns between your inventory and the pattern slots.[2][4]
Crafting Shapeless
Recipe id: ae2labeledpatterns:labeled_pattern_access_terminal
In this pack the terminal is a shapeless crafting recipe.
Compared to the normal terminal, the GUI has 3 new buttons:[4]
- Label Filter: empty by default. Click it to index all the labels the grid has found on pattern providers, and the screen refreshes to show the matching providers. The button text tells you whether you are focusing a label or not.[4][6]
- Show Group Selection: off by default. Turn it on to show a checkbox ahead of each group header, so you can mark a group. That marked group is what you use as the quick move target.[4]
- Quick Move Convenience: set to None by default, which adds no extra action when you shift click.[4]
Quick move modes
In None mode, shift clicking an encoded pattern in your inventory moves it to a provider row that has an empty slot. With no group selected, it scans all rows visible on screen. With a group selected, it scans only that group. The mouse button sets the priority: left click goes to the first empty slot, right click goes to the last empty slot.[4]
Once For All does everything None does, and also duplicates the pattern into every pattern provider in the selected group. It does nothing if no group is selected. It is handy when you run the same setup on several providers. You need enough blank patterns in your inventory or in the ME Storage, and if you don't have enough, it will not work.[4][6]
The Terminal Setting button holds extra options. Two of them are Auto-Focus on open and remembering the scroll bar position when you close the terminal.[4][6]
Wireless version
The Wireless Labeled Pattern Access Terminal is the portable take on this terminal. It has its own key binding for opening it.[4][6]

Recipe id: ae2labeledpatterns:wireless_labeled_pattern_access_terminal
In this pack the wireless terminal is a shaped crafting recipe that builds on the wired labeled terminal.
How do you progress through AE2 Labeled Patterns?
3 parts
This mod has a short, linear path of three crafts, and each one builds on the one before it. You start with the tool that labels your pattern providers, then get a terminal that sorts patterns by those labels, and finally a wireless version of that terminal.[2][5]
Tier 1: the Labeler
The Labeler is where everything starts. It is the tool you use to label or rename any pattern provider in Applied Energistics 2. Right click in the air to open its screen, where you type a label and save it. Saving matters, so don't skip that button.[2][3]
Crafting Shapeless
- any illuminated panel

Engineering Processor
Recipe id: ae2labeledpatterns:labeler
Once you have a label set, hold the Labeler and shift right-click a pattern provider to apply it. The Labeler has 5 modes: Single Set, Single Clear, Area Set, Area Clear and Copy. You switch between them by holding Shift and scrolling the mouse wheel.[3]
Tier 2: the ME Labeled Pattern Access Terminal
The ME Labeled Pattern Access Terminal is the payoff for all that labeling. It does everything the normal ME Pattern Access Terminal does, but it shows patterns in separate groups according to their labels.[4]
Crafting Shapeless
Recipe id: ae2labeledpatterns:labeled_pattern_access_terminal
Compared to the normal version, its screen has 3 new buttons: Label Filter, Show Group Selection and Quick Move Convenience. Shift clicking an encoded pattern in your inventory moves it into a provider with an empty slot. Left click goes to the first empty slot and right click goes to the last one.[4]
If you set Quick Move Convenience to Once For All and select a group, a shift click copies the pattern into every pattern provider in that group. This only works if you have enough blank patterns, either in your inventory or in the ME storage. It is great when you build several identical machines.[4]
Tier 3: the Wireless Labeled Pattern Access Terminal
The last step is the Wireless Labeled Pattern Access Terminal, the wireless version of the terminal above. The mod's in-game guide covers it on the same page as the wired terminal.[4][5]

Recipe id: ae2labeledpatterns:wireless_labeled_pattern_access_terminal
Unverified The sources do not describe the wireless terminal's range, power use or any differences from the wired terminal, so those details are unconfirmed.
How does AE2 Labeled Patterns work with other mods?
2 parts
AE2 Labeled Patterns adds labeling to pattern providers in Applied Energistics 2, so every recipe it has in this pack is built around AE2 parts. It also has a set of terminal combining recipes of the ae2wtlib:combine type that link its wireless terminal with other wireless terminals.[2][5]
Built from AE2 parts
The ME Labeled Pattern Access Terminal is a shapeless craft that starts from AE2's own ME Pattern Access Terminal and adds the mod's Labeler.[5]
Crafting Shapeless
Recipe id: ae2labeledpatterns:labeled_pattern_access_terminal
Shapeless: the AE2 terminal plus the Labeler.
The Labeler itself also needs an AE2 part, the Engineering Processor. Its other slots accept any item from AE2's illuminated panel tag, any item from AE2's knife tag, and any item from the mod's own metal ingot blocks tag, so you have some freedom in what you use.[5]

For the wireless version, the Wireless Labeled Pattern Access Terminal takes the wired labeled terminal and adds AE2's Dense Energy Cell and Wireless Receiver. It is a shaped craft, so the recipe below shows the exact layout.[5]

Combining with other wireless terminals
The pack has combine recipes that each pair the Wireless Labeled Pattern Access Terminal with another wireless terminal: the Wireless Pattern Access Terminal, the Wireless Crafting Terminal, the Wireless Extended Pattern Access Terminal and the Wireless Pattern Encoding Terminal. The recipe dump does not list the result of these combine recipes, so check them in the recipe viewer.[5]

Which AE2 Labeled Patterns config options matter?
2 parts
This mod has only a few options, split between a common file and a client file. The one value the sources show against a mod default matches that default, so there is no pack tweak to watch out for there.[7][8]
Common config
The common config holds a single option, maxAllowBlockSpace. It sets the max allowed block space for the labeler. The pack sets it to 128, which is the same as the mod default. Any value above 0 is accepted.[7]
Client config
The client config has two options that only affect your own game. The pack sets both of them to false.[8]
- auto_focus is false in the pack. When it is true, the search field is focused automatically as you open the labeled terminal.[8]
- remember_position is false in the pack. When it is true, the labeled terminal remembers the last position of its scrollbar.[8]
