Structurify - Structure Control is a mod in FTB Skies 2 1.24.0, where it is version 2.0.42. A structure configuration mod that eliminates the need for datapacks. Spread out structures, prevent overlap, enforce flat terrain, customize size and biomes. (Summary from the mod's Modrinth page.)

What is Structurify - Structure Control?

2 parts

Structurify is a structure configuration mod. It lets you control how structures generate in your world without writing a pile of datapacks. This pack currently includes version 2.0.34, the NeoForge build for Minecraft 1.21.1.[1][2]

It's for you if you want to tune world generation: spread structures out, stop them overlapping, keep them off bumpy terrain, or limit them to certain biomes.[1]

What you can control

  • Disable all structures globally with one setting, or disable individual structures.[1]
  • Edit the biome list for a specific structure, so it can be limited to the biomes you select.[1]
  • Set spacing and separation globally for all structure sets, or per structure set. Spacing is the average distance in chunks between structures in a set. Separation is the minimum distance in chunks, and it can't be greater than the spacing.[1]
  • Set the salt and frequency for individual structure sets, which can keep generation consistent but varied on the same world seed.[1]
  • Use a flatness check, so a structure only generates if the nearby terrain is flat enough for the threshold you set.[1]
  • Use a biome check, so a structure only generates where all nearby biomes are in a list you define. This helps avoid villages spawning across rivers.[1]

How you use it

Structurify is built for in-game configuration. On NeoForge it needs no extra mods. Structures are grouped by namespace, so settings from different mods and datapacks are easy to find, and you can search for a specific structure.[1]

Everything you set in-game is mirrored in a JSON file at config/structurify.json. That file is handy on servers, though the mod's author recommends configuring through the in-game screens. The command /structurify dump writes the complete config file with default settings.[1]

Watch out: Structure generation is complex, so things can occasionally break. This is most likely with mods that add their own custom structure generation or heavily change vanilla generation.[1]

How do you get started with Structurify - Structure Control?

1 part

Structurify is a configuration mod for structures. It lets you disable structures, change where they spread out, and control which biomes they use, all without writing datapacks. If you like tuning world generation, this is where you'll do it.[1]

Unverified No quests or crafting recipes for this mod's items were found in the sources for this pack, so there is nothing to craft first. Your first steps happen in the config screens.

Your first steps

  1. Open the mod's in-game config screen. Structures are grouped into categories by namespace, one per mod or datapack in use, so they are easy to browse, and you can search for a specific structure across all categories.[1]
  2. Start with spread. In the structure sets settings, the global spacing and separation modifier multiplies the spacing and separation of every structure set. Below 1.0 makes structures more concentrated, 1.0 leaves them unaffected, and above 1.0 spreads them out.[1][3]
  3. Then adjust single structures. You can disable one so it will not generate, or edit its list of biomes to control where it can be found.[1][3]
  4. If a structure looks out of place, try the optional checks. The flatness check only lets a structure generate on flat enough terrain. The biome check limits generation to areas where all nearby biomes are in the structure's list, which helps avoid things like villages spawning across rivers.[1]
  5. For a server, remember that every in-game setting is mirrored in config/structurify.json. If you want to see every option with its default value, the /structurify dump command writes the complete config with default settings to a file.[1]
Watch out: The separation value cannot be greater than the spacing value. Separation is the minimum distance in chunks between structures in a set, and spacing is the average distance in chunks.[1][3]
Tip: Frequency is the chance that a structure attempts to generate once all other conditions are met. 1.0 means a 100% chance and 0.0 means 0%. It is a quick way to make one structure set rarer without disabling it.[3]

How does Structurify - Structure Control work?

5 parts

Structurify doesn't add machines, multiblocks, power, fluids or item automation. It adds no items of its own, so there's nothing to craft. It's a configuration mod for world generation: it lets you control where structures appear, how often, and under what conditions, without writing datapacks. This section covers how those systems work and what the pack has set.[1]

Where the settings live

You configure everything in-game, and the mod mirrors it to a JSON file at structures's parent file, config/structurify.json. That file is handy for servers. In-game, structures are grouped into categories by namespace, so each mod's or datapack's structures sit together, and you can search across the categories.[1]

The mod also has one command, /structurify dump, which dumps the complete config file with default settings to a file.[1]

Global switches

general.disable_all_structures turns off every structure regardless of the specific structure options. In this pack it's false, so structures are on.[3][4]

general.min_structure_distance_from_world_center is set to 256 in this pack. Per structure, the mod can require that a structure only generates farther than a minimum distance from the world center, or closer than a maximum distance.[3][4]

Structure sets: spacing, separation, salt and frequency

A structure set is a group of structures that spread together. Each set has a few values that control the spread. They are stored in structure_sets.[1][3]

  • Spacing is the average distance in chunks between structures in the same set.[3]
  • Separation is the minimum distance in chunks between structures in the same set. It can't be greater than spacing.[3]
  • Salt is a number used as a seed for the random generator that scatters structures. Each set should have a unique salt.[3]
  • Frequency is the likelihood of a structure attempting to generate once all other conditions are met. 1.0 is a 100% chance and 0.0 is 0%.[3]
  • Weight is the chance of being chosen over others. A bigger weight means a higher chance.[3]

There's also a global modifier. general.global_spacing_and_separation_modifier multiplies the spacing and separation of every set. Below 1.0 structures are more concentrated, and above 1.0 they're more spread out. A set can opt out by overriding the global modifier with its own values. The pack has the modifier enabled but set to 1, so it changes nothing.[3][4]

What the pack changes

The pack ships its own structure set entries. The betterfortresses:fortress set has spacing 30, separation 20 and frequency 0. The cataclysm:acropolis set has spacing 80, separation 50 and frequency 0. Since 0.0 frequency means a 0% chance to generate, those two shouldn't generate in this pack.[3][4]

The ftb:overworld_main set uses spacing 24, separation 12 and frequency 1. The minecraft:buried_treasures set has frequency 0.01 and minecraft:mineshafts has 0.004, so both are rare. The minecraft:strongholds and ftbteambases:start sets have frequency 1.[4]

Tip: Edit the pack's values in the config rather than assuming mod defaults. The numbers above are what this pack sets, and they may differ from what Structurify does on its own.[1][4]

Per-structure rules

Each structure can be disabled on its own, and it also has its own list of biomes it may generate in. Beyond that, a structure can use a flatness check and a biome check. Each check can override the global or namespace setting for that structure.[1][3]

  • Flatness check: the structure only generates if the terrain under it is flat. In Auto mode the maximum height difference is calculated per structure area and piece count. In Manual mode you enter it yourself.[3]
  • Biome check: a structure only generates if the biomes it touches pass the check. Strict mode fails if any part intersects a biome not on the structure's list. Blacklist mode fails if any part intersects a blacklisted biome.[3]
  • Overlap prevention: when enabled, structures can't overlap each other, and individual structures or namespaces can be excluded from it.[3]
  • Jigsaw structures: you can set the size (depth) from 1, the smallest, to 20, the biggest. You can also set the maximum distance from the structure center and the start height.[3]

Per-structure options are stored under structures.[4]

Watch out: Structure generation is complex. Things can occasionally break with mods that implement their own custom structure generation logic or heavily alter vanilla generation.[1]

Which Structurify - Structure Control config options matter?

2 parts

Structurify lets you control structure generation from one config file, so you don't need datapacks. The file that matters is the live one, config/structurify.json. The pack also keeps a folder of timestamped backup copies, but those are just old snapshots and aren't used for your world.[1][4]

General settings

That 256 was changed during development. Older backups from the pack's history show the minimum distance at 0, and one early backup had all structures disabled. The final file has the 256 distance and structures enabled. Whether 0 is the mod's own default isn't stated in the sources I have.[4][5][6][7][8]

Per-structure-set tuning

Structurify can also adjust spacing, separation, salt and frequency for each structure set individually. In this pack, the structure_sets list sets these entries:[1][4]

  • betterfortresses:fortress has spacing 30, separation 20 and frequency 0.[4]
  • cataclysm:acropolis has spacing 80, separation 50 and frequency 0.[4]
  • ftb:overworld_main has spacing 24, separation 12 and frequency 1.[4]
  • ftbteambases:start has spacing 0, separation 0 and frequency 1.[4]
  • minecraft:buried_treasures has spacing 1, separation 0 and frequency 0.01.[4]
  • minecraft:mineshafts has spacing 1, separation 0 and frequency 0.004.[4]
  • minecraft:strongholds has spacing 0, separation 0 and frequency 1.[4]

None of these entries override the global spacing modifier. The pack also tuned them over time: an earlier backup had the fortress at spacing 64, separation 32 and frequency 1, and ftb:overworld_main at spacing 16 and separation 8. The current file uses the values listed above.[4][9]

Unverified The sources don't explain exactly what a frequency of 0 does for betterfortresses:fortress and cataclysm:acropolis, so don't assume those structures are fully disabled or fully enabled. Check in your own world before relying on it.

Tip: If you want to see every available option with the mod's default settings, the mod has a /structurify dump command that writes the complete config file with default settings.[1]

What changed in Structurify - Structure Control between versions?

3 parts

FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 ships Structurify - Structure Control 2.0.34, and the mod has been in the pack since 1.0.1 or earlier. Here are the notable changes from the mod's own changelogs, newest first.[2]

Unverified No pack changelog entries for this mod were available, so this section only covers the mod's own release notes.

2.0.34 (the version in this pack)

  • The "/structurify dump" command now dumps all the biomes and all the values, not only the changed ones.[10]
  • YetAnotherConfigLib is now required only on the client side.[10]
  • Fixed the spacing value of structure sets being corrected to a wrong value, and fixed config packet sync logic.[10]
  • Fixed jigsaw options not being editable for disabled structures, and fixed selecting biomes in the biome dropdown.[10]
  • Search now works better across more complex fields, and load/save of the structure "start_height" property is improved, including for modded height providers.[10]

2.0.x fixes

  • 2.0.28 fixed a crash related to parsing modded jigsaw structure data.[11]
  • 2.0.25 fixed biome loading, a crash when loading modded jigsaw structures, and the flatness check not working correctly for very small structures.[12]

1.0.x fixes

  • 1.0.21 fixed the default salt value to the correct 0 instead of 1.[13]
  • 1.0.20 made the GUI keep groups and categories collapsed, fixed search results not displaying correctly until you scrolled to the top, and fixed a crash related to disabled structures and explorer maps.[14]
  • 1.0.19 fixed a crash caused by invalid biomes not being parsed properly in the config, improved biome check and flatness check performance, and removed debug messages.[15]
  • 1.0.18 fixed a config loading error related to "enable_biome_check".[16]
  • 1.0.17 fixed global packs compat, since the new release had contained a breaking change, and improved how compats are loaded, which should prevent Minecraft crashes.[17]
