What is Eccentric Tome?
This pack ships Eccentric Tome at version 1.21.1-1.2.0, and it has been in the pack since FTB Skies 2 1.13.0 or earlier. So if you have been playing for a while, it was almost certainly there from the start.[1]
Unverified What Eccentric Tome does in this pack could not be confirmed from the available sources, so this guide does not describe its features, recipes or settings.
How do you get started with Eccentric Tome?
1 part
Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 guide
The first and only thing to make for this mod in the pack is the Eccentric Tome. There is no long chain of first steps: you craft one item and that is your starting point.[2]
Step 1: Craft the tome
The tome is a shapeless crafting recipe, so you can place the ingredients anywhere in the crafting grid. The exact in-pack recipe is shown below.[2]
This is a shapeless recipe, so the ingredients can go in any slot of the crafting grid.
How does Eccentric Tome work?
2 parts
The Eccentric Tome has no machines, multiblocks, power or fluid handling, so there is nothing to automate. What the pack does define is a short crafting recipe and a config file that controls which guide books the tome works with.[3][4][5]
Crafting the tome
The tome uses a shapeless crafting recipe, so the ingredients can go anywhere in the grid. It needs a book and a bookshelf. Any bookshelf from the common bookshelves tag is accepted, not just one specific type.[5]
What the config controls
The pack sets three options in common.items's file, config/eccentrictome-common.toml. They cover the whitelisted items, the mod aliases and an overlay setting.[4]
- common.items is the list of whitelisted items. It is made up of guide books and manuals from many mods, for example Guide Book, Guide, Engineer's Manual and Manual (Powah!).[4]
- common.aliases holds the mod aliases. In this pack, mythicbotany is mapped to botania, mysticalaggraditions to mysticalagriculture, and the Integrated Dynamics add-ons integratedtunnels, integratedterminals and integratedcrafting to integrateddynamics.[4]
- The RFTools family and related mods (rftoolsbuilder, rftoolscontrol, rftoolsdim, rftoolspower, rftoolsstorage, rftoolsutility, deepresonance and xnet) are all aliased to rftoolsbase.[4]
- common.disable_overlay is set to false in this pack. The option is described as disabling the overlay that previews the tome conversion, so the preview overlay stays enabled here.[4]
Unverified The sources do not give step-by-step instructions for using the tome in the world, such as how a conversion is triggered or how a book is taken back out, so those details are unverified for this pack.
How do you progress through Eccentric Tome?
1 part
Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 guide
There is no tier ladder to climb with this mod. The recipe dump for this pack lists just one recipe that makes an item from the mod, and it makes the Eccentric Tome. So the only crafting step you need to know about is the tome itself.[2]
Crafting the tome
The recipe is shapeless, so the ingredients can go anywhere in the crafting grid. It is listed as a mod recipe, and nothing in the dump shows the pack changing it. The exact in-pack recipe is below.[2]
Shapeless recipe, so the layout in the grid doesn't matter.
Which Eccentric Tome config options matter?
3 parts
Eccentric Tome has three common options, all in config/eccentrictome-common.toml. Here is exactly how this pack sets each one.[4]
Which books can be converted
common.items is the whitelist of items the tome accepts. This pack fills it with guide books from many mods, for example Guide Book, Guide, Engineer's Manual and Manual (Powah!). The list also covers manuals from mods such as Occultism, Ice and Fire and SecurityCraft.[4]
If a guide book from some mod won't go into your tome, check this list first. A book that isn't whitelisted isn't covered by this pack's setting. Two entries, Fargo's Talismans Guide and MI Guidebook, appear twice in the pack's list.[4]
Mod aliases
common.aliases maps one mod id onto another. The pack sets these:[4]
- mythicbotany maps to botania.[4]
- integratedtunnels, integratedterminals and integratedcrafting map to integrateddynamics.[4]
- rftoolsbuilder, rftoolscontrol, rftoolsdim, rftoolspower, rftoolsstorage and rftoolsutility map to rftoolsbase. So do deepresonance and xnet.[4]
- mysticalaggraditions maps to mysticalagriculture.[4]
The rftoolspower alias is written twice in the pack's list.[4]
Conversion overlay
common.disable_overlay is set to false. The file describes this option as disabling the overlay that previews tome conversion, so in this pack the overlay stays on.[4]
Unverified The sources only show the values this pack uses, not the mod's own defaults, so which of these three options the pack changed from the default is unconfirmed.
