What is Eccentric Tome?
Eccentric Tome is part of this pack at version 1.21.1-1.2.0, shipped as the file eccentrictome-1.21.1-1.2.0.jar. It was already in the pack by version 1.13.0 or earlier, so it isn't a recent addition.[1]
Unverified The sources I have don't describe what Eccentric Tome does, who it is aimed at, or whether the pack changes any of its recipes or configs. I'm not going to guess at its mechanics here.
Unverified Where the mod fits in the pack's progression is unconfirmed. There is no evidence that it sits on the ATM Star path, and no quests in this pack involve it.
How do you get started with Eccentric Tome?
1 part
Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 guide
The first and only thing to make for this mod in the pack is the Eccentric Tome. There is no long chain of first steps: you craft one item and that is your starting point.[2]
Step 1: Craft the tome
The tome is a shapeless crafting recipe, so you can place the ingredients anywhere in the crafting grid. The exact in-pack recipe is shown below.[2]
This is a shapeless recipe, so the ingredients can go in any slot of the crafting grid.
How does Eccentric Tome work?
4 parts
Eccentric Tome doesn't add machines, multiblocks, power or fluid handling, so there's nothing to wire up or automate here. As far as the sources show, it's a single item that works with other mods' guidebooks. Here's what the pack's files confirm about how it behaves.[3][4]
Getting the tome
The Eccentric Tome is a shapeless crafting recipe, so ingredient positions don't matter. The pack doesn't change it, and it comes from the mod's own recipe. The recipe below shows the exact ingredients.[4]
Which books the tome works with
The pack's config has a whitelist in common.items. It names the guidebook-style items the tome is set up to handle. It covers a lot of mods, for example Guide, Engineer's Manual and Technology Guide. Tinkers' Construct has several entries too, including its materials, smelting and gadgetry books.[3]
If a mod's book isn't in that list, the pack's config doesn't set it up for the tome. Anything you add to the list is your own change and no longer matches the pack.[3]
Mod aliases
The common.aliases option maps one mod name onto another. In this pack, several add-on mods are mapped to a parent mod:[3]
- mythicbotany is mapped to botania.[3]
- integratedtunnels, integratedterminals and integratedcrafting are mapped to integrateddynamics.[3]
- The RFTools family (builder, control, dim, power, storage and utility), plus deepresonance and xnet, are all mapped to rftoolsbase. The list contains rftoolspower twice, which is harmless duplication in the pack's file.[3]
- mysticalaggraditions is mapped to mysticalagriculture.[3]
Conversion overlay
The tome shows an overlay that previews the tome conversion. The pack leaves it on, because common.disable_overlay is set to false. Set it to true if you'd rather not see the preview.[3]
Unverified The exact steps for converting a book into the tome, and how the aliases change what you see inside it, aren't covered by the pack's files. The mod has no in-jar guidebook or lang descriptions to check against, so those details are unverified.
How do you progress through Eccentric Tome?
1 part
Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 guide
There is no tier ladder to climb with this mod. The recipe dump for this pack lists just one recipe that makes an item from the mod, and it makes the Eccentric Tome. So the only crafting step you need to know about is the tome itself.[2]
Crafting the tome
The recipe is shapeless, so the ingredients can go anywhere in the crafting grid. It is listed as a mod recipe, and nothing in the dump shows the pack changing it. The exact in-pack recipe is below.[2]
Shapeless recipe, so the layout in the grid doesn't matter.
Which Eccentric Tome config options matter?
3 parts
Eccentric Tome keeps its settings in one common config file, and it's quick to read. Here's exactly how the pack has it set.[3]
Whitelisted books
The common.items option is the list of whitelisted items. In this pack it holds guide books from many mods. A few examples: Guide, Engineer's Manual, Manual (Powah!), Dictionary Of Spirits and Technology Guide. Several Tinkers' Construct books are on the list too.[3]
Mod aliases
The common.aliases option is a list of mod id pairs written as one id equals another. This pack sets several, such as mythicbotany=botania, xnet=rftoolsbase and mysticalaggraditions=mysticalagriculture. Several RFTools addons point to rftoolsbase, and the Integrated Dynamics addons (integratedtunnels, integratedterminals, integratedcrafting) point to integrateddynamics. The rftoolspower=rftoolsbase entry appears twice in the pack's list.[3]
Overlay
common.disable_overlay is set to false in this pack. That means the overlay that previews tome conversion is not disabled. Setting it to true is how you would turn that preview off.[3]
