What is Baubley Heart Canisters?
3 parts
Baubley Heart Canisters brings back the old Tinkers' Construct heart canisters, reimagined as Baubles/Curios accessories. This pack ships version 1.21.1-1.4.1 of the mod. If you like building up your max health and turning it into combat power, this one is for you.[1][2]
The mod needs Curios to run, and the Heart Amulet is what makes it tidy: it holds all your Heart Canisters in a single slot.[1]
Where hearts come from
- Miniature Red Heart: drops from hostile mobs.[1][3]
- Miniature Yellow Heart: drops from boss mobs, such as the Wither.[1][3]
- Miniature Green Heart: drops from the Ender Dragon.[1][3]
- Miniature Blue Heart: drops from Wardens in current versions.[1][3]
Each heart tier can also be crafted from the previous tiers, so check JEI for the exact recipes. The mod page says the drops are configurable. I haven't confirmed any changed drop values for this pack, so check the config before you rely on the defaults.[1]
The big payoffs
The Soul Heart Canister only works in the Soul Amulet. It acts like a Totem of Undying that heals you back to max health, and once it's used up it reverts to a Blue Heart Canister. The Vitality Blade is a sword that gains 2 attack damage for each Heart Canister you have.[1]
The Relic Apple is a crafting item you can also eat. It gives Haste II, Strength II and Resistance II for one minute.[1]
Where it fits in the pack
The mod has its own run of quests in the gearing_up chapter. It starts with collecting all four heart types in "The Unlimited Power of Hearts" quest. From there it branches into the Health Patches ("Patch Me Up!" quest), the Relic Apple ("Fancy Apple" quest) and the Heart Amulet ("The Amulet of the Heart" quest).[3]
The Relic Apple leads on to the four Heart Canisters ("The Baubliest of Heart Canisters" quest) and then the Heartpulse Belts ("A Better Movement" quest). The Heart Amulet leads to the Soul Amulet ("A Soul Bound Amulet" quest), then the Vitality Blade ("The Sword of Friendship" quest), and finally the Vigor Bow ("Colorful Bullseye" quest).[3]
How do you get started with Baubley Heart Canisters?
6 parts
Baubley Heart Canisters turns hearts into gear you wear in a Curios slot. The pack's quest book walks you through the mod in a sensible order, and this section follows the same path. The mod's project page lists Curios as required for 1.16 and newer, so make sure it is installed.[1][3]
Step one: collect your first hearts
Everything starts with the four Miniature Hearts: Miniature Red Heart, Miniature Yellow Heart, Miniature Green Heart and Miniature Blue Heart. Handing them in is the first quest in the chapter, "The Unlimited Power of Hearts" quest, and the rest of the chapter branches from it.[3]
The mod's project page says red hearts drop from hostile mobs, yellow from boss mobs, green from the Ender Dragon and blue from Wardens, and that the drops are configurable. It also says each tier can be crafted from the previous tiers, and recommends checking JEI for those recipes.[1]
Step two: make a Heart Amulet
The Heart Amulet is the next goal, in quest "The Amulet of the Heart" quest. It holds all your Heart Canisters in a single slot, and its tooltip tells you to right click to open it.[1][3][4]

Step three: craft a Relic Apple
The Relic Apple has its own quest, "Fancy Apple" quest. Eating it gives you Haste II, Strength II and Resistance II for one minute. It is also a crafting item, and the first canister needs one.[1][3][5]

Step four: build your first Heart Canister
Canisters are the quest after the Relic Apple, "The Baubliest of Heart Canisters" quest. You start with the Red Heart Canister. It needs a plain Canister and a Wither Bone. The Wither Bone has its own recipe, and the project page says it also drops from Wither Skeletons. The recipes are below.[1][3]

Step five: Health Patches and Heartpulse Belts
Once you have the hearts, quest "Patch Me Up!" quest asks for the four Health Patches, starting with the Red Health Patch. After the canisters, quest "A Better Movement" quest asks for the four Heartpulse Belts. The Red Heartpulse Belt is crafted from a Red Heart Canister, and the later belts are smithing upgrades of the previous belt.[3][5]

What comes after
The rest of the chapter goes from the Soul Amulet ("A Soul Bound Amulet" quest) to the Vitality Blade ("The Sword of Friendship" quest) and finally the Vigor Bow ("Colorful Bullseye" quest). All three need the Soul Heart Crystal, which takes one of each Miniature Heart. Get the basics working first and save those for later.[1][3][5]
How does Baubley Heart Canisters work?
9 parts
Good news: there are no machines, multiblocks, power or fluids to wire up here. Baubley Heart Canisters is a wearable mod. Everything revolves around heart items that you collect, craft into canisters and carry in a Curios slot. The project page lists Curios as required for this mod.[1]
Where hearts come from
Each heart colour has its own source. Red hearts drop from hostile mobs, yellow hearts from boss mobs such as the Wither, green hearts from the Ender Dragon, and blue hearts from the Warden. Each tier can also be crafted using the previous tiers.[1]
This pack's drop file sets these entries:[6]
- Red hearts from hostile mobs: 0.05 (heartEntries.red.hostile).[6]
- Yellow hearts from bosses: 1 (heartEntries.yellow.boss).[6]
- Green hearts from the dragon: 1 (heartEntries.green.dragon).[6]
- Blue hearts from the Warden: 1 (heartEntries.blue.minecraft:warden).[6]
Wither Bone drops from Wither Skeletons. The pack lowers the drop rate to 0.15 (the mod default is 0.18) in General.boneDropRate. The Warden also drops Echo Shards in this mod, which makes them renewable, and that rate is 0.5 in General.echoShardDropRate, the same as the mod default.[1][7]

Another way to get Wither Bones if the drops are slow.
There is also a shortcut in the pack's own trade script: one of the entries in its after_diamond trade list swaps a Miniature Red Heart for a Blue Heart Canister.[8]
Melted hearts
Miniature hearts can be smelted into their melted versions, and melted hearts convert between tiers. The Melted Blue Heart, Melted Green Heart, Melted Yellow Heart and Melted Red Heart all take part in these conversions. A melted heart turns back into a miniature heart in a crafting recipe. The recipes below show the exact in-pack versions.[5]

General.heartStackSize is the maximum stack size for heart canisters, and also the maximum number of full hearts you can get per container type. It is 10 in this pack, the same as the mod default.[7]
Amulets and the Soul Heart
The Heart Amulet holds all your heart canisters in a single slot. Right click it to open it. The Curio type it uses can be changed in game or in the config file.[1][4]

The Soul Amulet works like the Heart Amulet but can also hold a Soul Heart Canister. That canister acts like a Totem of Undying: it heals you back to max health, and once used it reverts to a Blue Heart Canister. You will see the message "Soul Heart Has Been Consumed!" when that happens. In this pack General.soulHeartReturnChance is 1, the mod default, so you get the Blue Heart Canister back every time.[1][4][7]

Health patches
Health patches heal you on use and then go on cooldown. Cooldowns are in seconds, and heal amounts are in half-hearts, so 2 is one full heart. Every value below matches the mod default, so the pack has not changed them.[7]
- Red Health Patch: heals 2 ([[config:config/bhc-startup.toml#Heart Patches.redPatchHealAmount]]), cooldown 5 seconds ([[config:config/bhc-startup.toml#Heart Patches.redPatchCooldown]]).[5][7]
- Yellow Health Patch: heals 6 ([[config:config/bhc-startup.toml#Heart Patches.yellowPatchHealAmount]]), cooldown 10 seconds ([[config:config/bhc-startup.toml#Heart Patches.yellowPatchCooldown]]).[7]
- Green Health Patch: heals 10 ([[config:config/bhc-startup.toml#Heart Patches.greenPatchHealAmount]]), cooldown 20 seconds ([[config:config/bhc-startup.toml#Heart Patches.greenPatchCooldown]]).[5][7]
- Blue Health Patch: heals 20 ([[config:config/bhc-startup.toml#Heart Patches.bluePatchHealAmount]]), cooldown 30 seconds ([[config:config/bhc-startup.toml#Heart Patches.bluePatchCooldown]]).[5][7]
Relic Apple
The Relic Apple is a crafting item you can also eat. Eating it gives Haste II, Strength II and Resistance II for one minute. It is also an ingredient in the Red Heart Canister recipe.[1][5]

Starting health
Server.startingHealth is set to 20 in this pack.[9]
However, Server.allowStartingHealthTweaks is false, so starting health tweaks are switched off.[9]
Heartpulse belts
The belts are upgraded through smithing: the Yellow Heartpulse Belt becomes the Green Heartpulse Belt, which then becomes the Blue Heartpulse Belt.[5]
How do you progress through Baubley Heart Canisters?
5 parts
In this pack, the Baubley Heart Canisters progression lives in the gearing_up quest chapter. It starts with the Miniature Hearts and branches into health patches, canisters, belts and a couple of soul-powered weapons. The canister line itself runs Red, Yellow, Green, Blue, then Soul.[3][5]
The quest path
The chain is not one straight line. After the first quest it splits, so you can pick what you want to chase next.[3]
- Start with "The Unlimited Power of Hearts" quest. It asks for the Miniature Hearts in every colour: Miniature Red Heart, Miniature Yellow Heart, Miniature Green Heart and Miniature Blue Heart.[3]
- "Patch Me Up!" quest comes next and asks for the health patches in red, yellow, green and blue.[3]
- "Fancy Apple" quest asks for the Relic Apple. It leads to "The Baubliest of Heart Canisters" quest (the Red, Yellow, Green and Blue Heart Canisters), and then to "A Better Movement" quest (the Heartpulse Belts in each colour).[3]
- "The Amulet of the Heart" quest asks for the Heart Amulet. Then "A Soul Bound Amulet" quest asks for the Soul Amulet.[3]
- The Soul Amulet quest unlocks "The Sword of Friendship" quest for the Vitality Blade. That is followed by "Colorful Bullseye" quest for the Vigor Bow.[3]
Getting the hearts
Each Miniature Heart is crafted from the matching melted heart plus another heart. You can also smelt a Miniature Red, Yellow, Green or Blue Heart into its melted form. The melted hearts convert between neighbouring colours: red and yellow, yellow and green, and green and blue.[5]

The other colours follow the same pattern with their own melted heart.
Smelting a Miniature Heart gives you its melted form.
Canister tiers
The base Canister is the starting point. The Red Heart Canister is the first real tier, and every tier after it is built on the previous canister.[5]

Which FTB Skies 2 quests use Baubley Heart Canisters?
4 parts
The quests that involve this mod sit in one chapter, "gearing_up". Each quest asks you to submit items. The chapter starts with one quest and then splits into separate lines: Health Patches, the Relic Apple line, and the amulet line.[3]
The starting quest
Quest "The Unlimited Power of Hearts" quest opens the chapter. It asks for the Miniature Red Heart, Miniature Yellow Heart, Miniature Green Heart and Miniature Blue Heart. Every other quest in the chapter depends on this one, directly or through another quest.[3]
Health Patches
- Quest "Patch Me Up!" quest unlocks after the hearts quest. It asks for the Red Health Patch, Yellow Health Patch, Green Health Patch and Blue Health Patch. Nothing else unlocks after it.[3]
Relic Apple, canisters and belts
- Quest "Fancy Apple" quest comes after the hearts quest and asks for the Relic Apple.[3]
- Quest "The Baubliest of Heart Canisters" quest comes after the Relic Apple quest. It asks for the Red Heart Canister, Yellow Heart Canister, Green Heart Canister and Blue Heart Canister.[3]
- Quest "A Better Movement" quest comes after the canisters quest. It asks for the Red Heartpulse Belt, Yellow Heartpulse Belt, Green Heartpulse Belt and Blue Heartpulse Belt.[3]
Amulets and weapons
- Quest "The Amulet of the Heart" quest comes after the hearts quest and asks for the Heart Amulet.[3]
- Quest "A Soul Bound Amulet" quest comes after the Heart Amulet quest and asks for the Soul Amulet.[3]
- Quest "The Sword of Friendship" quest comes after the Soul Amulet quest and asks for the Vitality Blade.[3]
- Quest "Colorful Bullseye" quest comes after the Vitality Blade quest and asks for the Vigor Bow. It is the last quest in the chain.[3]
Which Baubley Heart Canisters config options matter?
5 parts
Good news: this pack leaves almost all of Baubley Heart Canisters at its mod defaults. There is exactly one startup value the pack changed, so that is the first thing to know. Everything else below is useful to understand how your heart progression behaves.[7]
The one value the pack changed
General.boneDropRate is set to 0.15 here, down from the mod default of 0.18. It controls how often Wither Skeletons drop wither bones, which are a crafting item. The valid range is 0.0 to 1.0, so this is a small nerf, and bones are a little slower to farm than in the base mod.[1][7]
General settings left at default
- General.echoShardDropRate is 0.5, the same as the mod default. It sets how often the Warden drops echo shards, which makes them renewable.[1][7]
- General.heartStackSize is 10, the mod default. It is both the maximum stack size for heart canisters and the maximum number of full hearts you can get per heart container type.[7]
- General.soulHeartReturnChance is 1, the mod default. It is the chance that a broken Soul Heart returns a Blue Heart Canister.[7]
Heart patches
All the heart patch values match the mod defaults. Cooldowns are in seconds, and heal amounts are in half-hearts, so a heal amount of 2 is one full heart.[7]
- Red patch: heals 2 ([[config:config/bhc-startup.toml#Heart Patches.redPatchHealAmount]]) with a cooldown of 5 ([[config:config/bhc-startup.toml#Heart Patches.redPatchCooldown]]).[7]
- Yellow patch: heals 6 ([[config:config/bhc-startup.toml#Heart Patches.yellowPatchHealAmount]]) with a cooldown of 10 ([[config:config/bhc-startup.toml#Heart Patches.yellowPatchCooldown]]).[7]
- Green patch: heals 10 ([[config:config/bhc-startup.toml#Heart Patches.greenPatchHealAmount]]) with a cooldown of 20 ([[config:config/bhc-startup.toml#Heart Patches.greenPatchCooldown]]).[7]
- Blue patch: heals 20 ([[config:config/bhc-startup.toml#Heart Patches.bluePatchHealAmount]]) with a cooldown of 30 ([[config:config/bhc-startup.toml#Heart Patches.bluePatchCooldown]]).[7]
Starting health
Server.allowStartingHealthTweaks is false in this pack, and Server.startingHealth is 20, which the config describes as the default. The mod can change starting health through its config, but with the tweaks switch off you start on the standard amount.[1][9]
Heart drop entries
The drop table in drops.json has one entry per heart tier. Blue hearts are tied to heartEntries.blue.minecraft:warden, green to heartEntries.green.dragon, yellow to heartEntries.yellow.boss, and red to heartEntries.red.hostile. The pack sets the blue, green and yellow entries to 1, and the red entry for hostile mobs to 0.05.[1][6]
Unverified The sources do not explain what the numbers in drops.json mean (for example, whether 0.05 is a drop chance), and they do not say whether the pack changed these entries from the mod defaults. Treat the 0.05 for hostile mobs as the pack's value, not as a confirmed percentage.
What changed in Baubley Heart Canisters between versions?
2 parts
FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 ships Baubley Heart Canisters 1.21.1-1.4.1, and the mod has been in the pack since FTB Skies 2 1.0.1 or earlier. Below are the notable changes from the mod's own changelogs, newest first.[2]
1.4.x
- 1.4.1 (the version in this pack): fixed the Loop Case for other mods that revive the player. The changelog mentions Draconic and the Undying Module.[2][10]
- 1.4.0: in-game config was enabled, and heal amounts and cooldowns for heart patches became configurable.[11]
1.3.x and earlier
- 1.3.1: fixed a bug where the bonemeal recipe was replaced with wither bone instead of the wither bone being added as an alternative.[12]
- 1.2.3: added Russian, Ukrainian, Brazilian Portuguese, French and Korean translations, contributed by community members.[13]
- 1.2.2: fixed a crash that happened when the Vigor Bow was used by non-players.[14]
