What is Growth Accelerator Tiers?

Same as in the All the Mods 10: To the Sky 1.0.2 guide

Growth Accelerator Tiers is part of this pack. The pack ships version 1.0.1 of the mod, built for NeoForge on Minecraft 1.21.1. It has been in the pack since the 1.0 release or earlier, so it's a long-standing part of the mod list rather than a recent addition.[1]

Unverified The sources I have don't describe what the mod's items or blocks do, how they are crafted in this pack, or whether the pack changed any recipes or configs. I'm not going to guess at mechanics. Check in-game with the recipe viewer before you plan a build around it. This site does hold FTB Evolution 2's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.

Unverified No quests and no ATM Star path steps were found for this mod, and no in-jar guidebook was found either. Where it fits in the pack's progression is unconfirmed, so treat it as an optional extra rather than a required step.

How do you get started with Growth Accelerator Tiers?

3 parts

Growth Accelerator Tiers adds the Cranked Growth Accelerator, the Boosted Growth Accelerator and the Directional Growth Accelerator, plus a tool called the Directional Modifier. Each has its own recipe in this pack. Below they are in the order I'd make them.[2][3]

Start with the Cranked Growth Accelerator

Its tooltip says it does not connect to a network and only works when powered by the Wooden Crank. That makes it the simplest one to set up. The pack sets its speed multiplier to 8 and its idle power consumption to 8, both the same as the mod defaults. For comparison, the config notes that a speed multiplier of 1.0 would imitate the normal AE2 Growth Accelerator. You can look at cranked_growth_accelerator.cranked_speed_multiplier and cranked_growth_accelerator.cranked_idle_power_consumption.[3][4]

Next, the Boosted Growth Accelerator

The tooltip describes this one as faster than your average Growth Accelerator. Its speed multiplier in the pack is 8, the same as the Cranked one, but its idle power consumption is 24 instead of 8. These values match the mod defaults, so the pack has not changed them. You can check them in boosted_growth_accelerator.boosted_speed_multiplier and boosted_growth_accelerator.boosted_idle_power_consumption.[3][4]

Then the Directional Growth Accelerator and its Modifier

This one forces buds to grow in a specific direction, up by default. The pack sets directional_growth_accelerator.directional_speed_multiplier to 2 and directional_growth_accelerator.directional_idle_power_consumption to 12. Both are the mod defaults.[3][4]

Watch out: If you place several Boosted or several Directional accelerators near each other, watch for the "Accelerator conflict" tooltip. The pack leaves general.enable_conflicts set to true. Setting it to false stops the Boosted and Directional accelerators from conflicting with other accelerators of the same type.[3][4]

How does Growth Accelerator Tiers work?

5 parts

Growth Accelerator Tiers adds upgraded versions of the growth accelerator idea. The config describes them as blocks that tick the blocks next to them faster, and each tier trades speed against power draw in its own way. On top of the accelerators there is a helper item for aiming the Directional one.[3][4]

The accelerators

Every one of these values matches the mod default, so the pack leaves the tiers untouched. If you ever see different numbers on another setup, that setup changed the config.[4]

What the settings mean

Each accelerator has the same kinds of settings. The speed multiplier is how many times faster the accelerator ticks the blocks next to it. The idle power consumption is the power it uses while running. The internal energy multiplier scales the accelerator's internal power inventory.[4]

The config comments give a useful yardstick. A speed multiplier of 1.0, an idle consumption of 8 and an internal energy multiplier of 10 would imitate the normal AE2 Growth Accelerator. Against that, the Boosted tier has a speed multiplier of 8 and an internal energy multiplier of 60. The Directional tier uses 12 idle power and has a speed multiplier of 2.[4]

Aiming the Directional Growth Accelerator

Right click the Directional Growth Accelerator with a Directional Modifier to change the direction it forces buds to grow in. Until you do, it points up.[3]

Accelerator conflicts

The pack leaves general.enable_conflicts on (true). If it were set to false, the Boosted and Directional accelerators would no longer conflict with other accelerators of the same type. The mod also has an "Accelerator conflict" tooltip string for blocks that are in conflict.[3][4]

The accelerators and the modifier are all made with shaped crafting recipes. The recipe blocks below show the exact in-pack layouts.[2]

How do you progress through Growth Accelerator Tiers?

Growth Accelerator Tiers adds the Boosted Growth Accelerator, the Cranked Growth Accelerator, the Directional Growth Accelerator and the Directional Modifier to this pack. Each one has its own shaped crafting recipe from the mod.[2]

Picking them back up

The Boosted, Cranked and Directional Growth Accelerators are blocks whose loot tables drop the block itself, so you can break one and move it somewhere else.[5][6][7]

Unverified The sources here do not show any quest chapter that covers this mod, so the pack's quest book gives no progression order or tier ranking for these items. The order in which to build them is not confirmed here.

Which Growth Accelerator Tiers config options matter?

4 parts

Same as in the FTB Skies 2: Aero 1.10.0 guide

Every option in the Growth Accelerator Tiers config file is set to the mod default in this pack. Nothing was changed, so any numbers you see here are the values the mod ships with.[8]

Each accelerator has a speed multiplier (how strongly it ticks the adjacent blocks), an idle power consumption (the power it uses while running) and an internal energy multiplier (the size of its internal power inventory). According to the config comments, a speed multiplier of 1.0, an idle power consumption of 8 and an internal energy multiplier of 10 would imitate the normal AE2 Growth Accelerator.[8]

Directional Growth Accelerator

Cranked Growth Accelerator

Boosted Growth Accelerator

The Cranked and Boosted accelerators both use a speed multiplier of 8, but the Boosted one uses 24 for idle power consumption against 8 for the Cranked one, and has an internal energy multiplier of 60 against 20. So if you are tuning your power budget, those two options are where the difference between them shows up.[8]

Conflicts between accelerators

general.enable_conflicts is true in this pack. If it were set to false, the Boosted and Directional accelerators would not conflict with other accelerators of the same type.[8]
