What is Growth Accelerator Tiers?
2 parts
Growth Accelerator Tiers adds machines that boost the growth of crops and crystals placed next to them. This pack includes version 2.0.0 of the mod.[1][2]
The quest book gives two examples. Wheat next to a powered Growth Accelerator grows much faster, and a Budding Amethyst next to one grows Amethyst faster. That makes the mod handy for quicker crop farms and crystal farming.[2]
The tiers
- Cranked Growth Accelerator is the most basic and cheapest tier. It uses no Energy. You place a Wooden Crank on it and turn it with a right click.[2]
- Boosted Growth Accelerator works exactly like a regular Growth Accelerator, just even faster.[2]
- Directional Growth Accelerator grows crystals in one set direction instead of every direction the Budding Crystal allows. You change the direction by right-clicking it with a Direction Modifier. The quest calls these the fastest and best for auto farms.[2]
Where it fits in the quest book
All three tiers have quests in Chapter 2: The Cool Parts. The Cranked tier ("Cranked Growth Accelerator" quest) comes after the Certus Crystals and Charging quest. The Boosted ("Boosted Growth Accelerator" quest) and Directional ("Directional Growth Accelerator" quest) quests both come after the Growth Accelerator quest.[2]
Those last two quests walk you through crafting with AE2 materials, so some AE2 progress helps before you get to them.[2]
Unverified The sources here do not show this mod on the ATM Star quest path, so whether that route uses it is unverified.
How do you get started with Growth Accelerator Tiers?
3 parts
Growth Accelerators boost the growth of crops and crystals next to them. Put wheat beside a powered one and it grows much faster. Put a Budding Amethyst beside one and it grows amethyst faster. This mod adds stronger versions of the AE2 Growth Accelerator, and the pack's quests walk you through them.[2]
Step 1: The Cranked Growth Accelerator
Start with the Cranked Growth Accelerator. The quest calls it the most basic and cheap Growth Accelerator. You get to it in "Cranked Growth Accelerator" quest, which comes after the Certus Crystals and Charging quest. It doesn't use energy, so it runs on manual labor instead.[2]

It doesn't connect to a network. Place a Wooden Crank on it and turn the crank with a right click, and the accelerator works.[2][3]
Step 2: The Boosted Growth Accelerator
Next comes the Boosted Growth Accelerator, from "Boosted Growth Accelerator" quest. It works exactly like the regular Growth Accelerator, just even faster. That quest comes after the Growth Accelerator quest, and the recipe uses a regular Growth Accelerator, so make that one first.[2][4]

The quest explains how to make the AE2 parts this recipe needs.
Step 3: The Directional Growth Accelerator
The Directional Growth Accelerator is covered by "Directional Growth Accelerator" quest, which also follows the Growth Accelerator quest. According to the quest, it follows the Boosted recipe with the Annihilation Core swapped for a Formation Core.[2][4]

The other accelerators grow crystals in every direction available from the budding block. This one forces buds to grow in a single direction, up by default. The quest calls these the fastest and best for auto farms.[2][3]
To change the direction, right click the accelerator with a Directional Modifier.[2][3]

How does Growth Accelerator Tiers work?
4 parts
Growth Accelerator Tiers adds upgraded versions of the AE2 Growth Accelerator: the Boosted Growth Accelerator, the Directional Growth Accelerator and the Cranked Growth Accelerator. Each one has a speed multiplier for ticking the blocks next to it, and you can read it in the config. The pack changes some of those values, so the numbers below are the pack's, not the mod's defaults.[3][5]
Boosted Growth Accelerator
This is the straightforward upgrade: it is faster than your average Growth Accelerator. Its speed multiplier is 4 ([[config:config/growthacceleratortiers-common.toml#Boosted Growth Accelerator.boosted_speed_multiplier]]), which is the mod default. A value of 1.0 would match the normal AE2 Growth Accelerator.[3][5]
The pack raises its running power consumption to 200 ([[config:config/growthacceleratortiers-common.toml#Boosted Growth Accelerator.boosted_idle_power_consumption]]). The mod default is 42, and the config notes that 8 would imitate the normal AE2 accelerator. The internal energy multiplier stays at the default of 40 ([[config:config/growthacceleratortiers-common.toml#Boosted Growth Accelerator.boosted_internal_energy_multiplier]]).[5]

Directional Growth Accelerator
This one forces buds to grow in a specific direction, and that direction is up by default. To change it, right click the accelerator with a Directional Modifier.[3]

The pack changes both of its main values. The speed multiplier is 1.6 ([[config:config/growthacceleratortiers-common.toml#Directional Growth Accelerator.directional_speed_multiplier]]) instead of the mod default of 2. Running power consumption is 160 ([[config:config/growthacceleratortiers-common.toml#Directional Growth Accelerator.directional_idle_power_consumption]]) instead of 20. The internal energy multiplier is unchanged at 32 ([[config:config/growthacceleratortiers-common.toml#Directional Growth Accelerator.directional_internal_energy_multiplier]]).[5]

Cranked Growth Accelerator
The Cranked accelerator does not connect to a network. It only works when powered by the Wooden Crank.[3]
Its values are all the mod defaults: a speed multiplier of 8 ([[config:config/growthacceleratortiers-common.toml#Cranked Growth Accelerator.cranked_speed_multiplier]]), running power consumption of 8 ([[config:config/growthacceleratortiers-common.toml#Cranked Growth Accelerator.cranked_idle_power_consumption]]) and an internal energy multiplier of 20 ([[config:config/growthacceleratortiers-common.toml#Cranked Growth Accelerator.cranked_internal_energy_multiplier]]). The config notes that 8 power would imitate the normal AE2 accelerator.[5]

Reading the config
- Speed multiplier: how much the accelerator ticks adjacent blocks. 1.0 imitates the normal AE2 Growth Accelerator.[5]
- Idle power consumption: the power used while running. 8 imitates the normal AE2 Growth Accelerator.[5]
- Internal energy multiplier: scales the accelerator's internal power inventory. 10 imitates the normal AE2 Growth Accelerator.[5]
How do you progress through Growth Accelerator Tiers?
5 parts
Growth Accelerators speed up the growth of crops and crystals next to them. In this pack the mod adds three upgraded tiers, and each one has its own quest in Chapter 2: The Cool Parts. The quests tell you the order to unlock them in, and the recipe blocks below show exactly what each one costs.[2]
Tier 1: Cranked Growth Accelerator
The Cranked Growth Accelerator is the cheapest and most basic tier. Its quest, "Cranked Growth Accelerator" quest, unlocks after the Certus Crystals and Charging quest. It needs no energy. You place a Wooden Crank on it and turn the crank with a right click.[2]

Tier 2: Boosted Growth Accelerator
The Boosted Growth Accelerator works like a normal Growth Accelerator, just faster. Its quest, "Boosted Growth Accelerator" quest, unlocks after the Growth Accelerator quest. The recipe takes a regular Growth Accelerator as one of its inputs, so you need that one first.[2][4]

Tier 3: Directional Growth Accelerator
The Directional Growth Accelerator also unlocks after the Growth Accelerator quest, through "Directional Growth Accelerator" quest. It grows crystals differently from the other tiers. Instead of growing crystals in every direction the Budding Crystal allows, it grows them in one set direction only. The quest calls these the fastest accelerators and the best choice for auto farms.[2]

The quest text says this recipe is the Boosted one with the Annihilation Core swapped for a Formation Core. The in-pack recipes differ in more than that one ingredient, so go by the recipe blocks on this page rather than the quest description.[2][4]
Setting the direction
You set the direction of a Directional Growth Accelerator with the Directional Modifier. Right click the accelerator with the modifier to change the direction. The quest text calls this item a Direction Modifier, but the item in the pack is the Directional Modifier.[2][4]

Which one should you build?
- Start with the Cranked tier if you want a cheap accelerator with no energy setup, as long as you can turn the crank by hand.[2]
- Move to the Boosted tier when you want the same behavior as a Growth Accelerator but faster.[2]
- Pick the Directional tier for crystal farms where you want growth in only one direction, such as auto farms.[2]
Unverified The sources give no numbers for how much faster each tier is, so the exact speed differences between tiers are unverified.
How does Growth Accelerator Tiers work with other mods?
3 parts
Growth Accelerator Tiers hooks into Applied Energistics 2 (AE2) in this pack. Every recipe the mod has here uses AE2 items, so you unlock these tiers by working through AE2. They build on AE2's Growth Accelerator.[2][4]
Cranked Growth Accelerator
The Cranked Growth Accelerator is the cheapest tier, and its AE2 link is the Wooden Crank. It doesn't use energy. You place a Wooden Crank on it and turn it with a right click to make it work. The quest "Cranked Growth Accelerator" quest comes after the Certus Crystals and Charging quest in Chapter 2: The Cool Parts.[2][4]

Boosted Growth Accelerator
The Boosted Growth Accelerator works like the AE2 Growth Accelerator, just faster. Its quest, "Boosted Growth Accelerator" quest, comes after the Growth Accelerator quest. The recipe uses an Fluix Pearl, an Annihilation Core and an Acceleration Card, along with the AE2 Growth Accelerator itself.[2][4]
The quest explains that Acceleration Cards are made from Advanced Cards, and those need Calculation Processors. So you need your AE2 processor production running first.[2]

Directional Growth Accelerator
The Directional Growth Accelerator follows the Boosted recipe pattern, but swaps the Annihilation Core for a Formation Core. Its quest, "Directional Growth Accelerator" quest, also comes after the Growth Accelerator quest. Instead of growing crystals in every direction available from the budding crystal, it grows them in one set direction only. The quest calls these the fastest and best for auto farms.[2][4]

Which All the Mods 10: To the Sky quests use Growth Accelerator Tiers?
2 parts
All three Growth Accelerator tiers show up in one chapter of the quest book: Chapter 2: The Cool Parts. Each quest asks you to obtain the matching accelerator, so the task is simply having the item.[2]
Quest order
- "Cranked Growth Accelerator" quest unlocks after the Certus Crystals and Charging quest. The task is to get the Cranked Growth Accelerator.[2]
- "Boosted Growth Accelerator" quest unlocks after the quest called Growth Accelerator. The task is to get the Boosted Growth Accelerator.[2]
- "Directional Growth Accelerator" quest also unlocks after the Growth Accelerator quest, so it sits alongside the Boosted one rather than after it. The task is to get the Directional Growth Accelerator.[2]
What each quest tells you
The Cranked quest is the intro to the whole idea. It explains that Growth Accelerators boost the growth of nearby crops and crystals, for example wheat or a Budding Amethyst next to a powered accelerator. The Cranked version is described as the most basic and cheap one. It doesn't use energy: you place a Wooden Crank on it and turn it with Right Click.[2]
The Boosted quest says the Boosted Growth Accelerator works exactly like a Growth Accelerator, just faster. Most of its text is a crafting walkthrough that covers Fluix Pearls, an Annihilation Core and Acceleration Cards, which are AE2 upgrades made with Advanced Cards that in turn need Calculation Processors.[2]
The Directional quest says its recipe is the same as the Boosted one, with a Formation Core in place of the Annihilation Core. It also explains how the Directional version behaves differently. Instead of growing crystals in every direction available from the budding crystal, it only grows in one set direction. You change that direction by Right Clicking the accelerator with a Direction Modifier. The quest calls these the fastest and best for auto farms.[2]
Which Growth Accelerator Tiers config options matter?
3 parts
Everything for this mod lives in a single file, config/growthacceleratortiers-common.toml. Each accelerator tier (Boosted, Cranked and Directional) has options for how much power it uses while running, how big its internal energy buffer is, and how many times faster it ticks adjacent blocks. The pack changes only some of these, and only on the Boosted and Directional tiers.[5]
Values the pack changed
- [[config:config/growthacceleratortiers-common.toml#Boosted Growth Accelerator.boosted_idle_power_consumption]] is 200 in this pack. The mod default is 42, so the Boosted tier costs a lot more to run here.[5]
- [[config:config/growthacceleratortiers-common.toml#Directional Growth Accelerator.directional_idle_power_consumption]] is 160 in this pack. The mod default is 20.[5]
- [[config:config/growthacceleratortiers-common.toml#Directional Growth Accelerator.directional_speed_multiplier]] is 1.6 in this pack, down from the mod default of 2. The Directional tier is both slower and hungrier than it would be with default settings.[5]
Values left at the mod default
- Boosted: [[config:config/growthacceleratortiers-common.toml#Boosted Growth Accelerator.boosted_speed_multiplier]] is 4 and [[config:config/growthacceleratortiers-common.toml#Boosted Growth Accelerator.boosted_internal_energy_multiplier]] is 40.[5]
- Cranked: [[config:config/growthacceleratortiers-common.toml#Cranked Growth Accelerator.cranked_speed_multiplier]] is 8, [[config:config/growthacceleratortiers-common.toml#Cranked Growth Accelerator.cranked_idle_power_consumption]] is 8 and [[config:config/growthacceleratortiers-common.toml#Cranked Growth Accelerator.cranked_internal_energy_multiplier]] is 20. None of the Cranked values are changed.[5]
- Directional: [[config:config/growthacceleratortiers-common.toml#Directional Growth Accelerator.directional_internal_energy_multiplier]] is 32, the mod default.[5]
Reading the numbers
The config comments give you reference points against the normal AE2 Growth Accelerator. A speed multiplier of 1.0 imitates it, an idle power consumption of 8 imitates it, and an internal energy multiplier of 10 imitates it. So the Cranked tier's power use of 8 matches the AE2 reference, while its speed multiplier of 8 is well above it.[5]
