What is Enchantment Descriptions?
1 part
Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide
Enchantment Descriptions is a lightweight, client-side mod that adds a short description of each enchantment to the tooltip of an enchanted book. Hover over a book and you can see what the enchantment does without looking it up.[1]
It supports all the vanilla enchantments in over 13 languages, and most modded enchantments are supported too.[1]
It's for anyone who wants to know what a book does before using it or spending resources on it. It's a quality-of-life tool, so there's nothing to craft and nothing to unlock.[1]
In this pack
This pack version ships Enchantment Descriptions 21.1.11, using the NeoForge build for Minecraft 1.21.1. It was first included in an earlier pack release, 2.25 or before.[2]
How do you get started with Enchantment Descriptions?
2 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10: To the Sky 2.0.4 guide
Enchantment Descriptions is a light weight, client-side mod. It adds a description of each enchantment to the tooltip of an enchanted book. So the first step is not crafting anything: you just look at the book.[1]
How to use it
- Get hold of an enchanted book, then hover over it in your inventory or in a chest.[1]
- Read the description added to the tooltip. It explains what the enchantment does, so you don't have to guess or look it up.[1]
- Do this before you spend a book on a tool or armour piece, so you know what you are putting on it.[1]
What the descriptions look like
The mod covers all vanilla enchantments in over 13 languages, and most modded enchantments are supported too. The descriptions come from the mod's own language file, and they are short, plain sentences.[1][3]
- Thundering: "Attacks strike the target with lightning."[3]
- Guarding Strike: "Defeating enemies boosts your defence temporarily."[3]
- Autosmelt: "Breaking a block will smelt it instead."[3]
- Double jump: "Allows the user to jump twice."[3]
Unverified Whether the pack's quest book or config files say anything about this mod is not shown in the sources here, so check the quest book chapters and the config folder in the pack yourself.
How does Enchantment Descriptions work?
2 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10: To the Sky 2.0.4 guide
Enchantment Descriptions is a small, light weight, client-side mod. It has no machines, power or item handling to set up. It does one job: it adds a description of an enchantment to the tooltip of an enchanted book.[1]
What you see in game
Hover over an enchanted book and the tooltip explains what the enchantment does, so you don't have to look it up. The mod covers all vanilla enchantments in over 13 languages, and most modded enchantments are supported too.[1]
The descriptions live in the mod's own language file. Each entry is a text key for one enchantment, usually ending in .desc, with a one-line explanation as its value.[3]
Modded enchantments with descriptions
The language file has entries for enchantments from several other mods, so their books are explained too. These are the enchantment namespaces that appear in the part of the file the sources show:[3]
- betterarcheology, for example Tunneling, which mines the block below the target block as well.[3]
- create_sa, for example Digging, which allows the drill to dig a bigger hole.[3]
- deeperdarker, for example Catalysis, where killing mobs spreads sculk nearby.[3]
- dungeonsenchantments, for example Weakening, where attacks temporarily weaken the enemy.[3]
- grapplemod, for example the sliding enchantment, which allows the user to slide using built up momentum.[3]
- improved_exp, which has by far the most entries, for example Fertilizing, where pressing the Z key will bonemeal nearby blocks.[3]
Other namespaces in the file include endlessbiomes, gofish and hunterillager. The sources only show part of the file, so this is not a full list.[3]
What changed in Enchantment Descriptions between versions?
1 part
FTB Evolution 2 1.1.0 ships Enchantment Descriptions version 26.1.2.6, built for NeoForge. The mod was already in the pack by 1.0.2 or earlier, so it is not a recent addition.[4]
26.1.2.6
- Fixed the Sweeping Edge description in various languages. If you play with a non-English language and noticed a wrong tooltip on that enchantment, this is the release that corrects it.[5]
That is the only change the mod's own changelog lists for this version, so there is nothing else notable to report for the release your pack uses.[4][5]

Items and blocks
We can't match this mod to the pack's item list: it registers as enchdesc, and the pack's recipe dump has nothing under that name. That means we found nothing, not that the mod adds nothing. Search the item browser
