What is BloodMagic AE2 Addition?
2 parts
BloodMagic AE2 Addition connects Blood Magic-style crafting with Applied Energistics 2. In short, it adds blood-powered automation for your ME network, so you can stop hand-crafting supported blood recipes and let your network do it.[1]
This pack includes version 1.0.2, and the jar name points to the 26.1.2 beta line. That line is built for NeoVitae and adds Essentia Vitae-powered automation and ME crafting support for supported NeoVitae recipes.[1][2]
What it adds
- A Blood Generator, which converts Forge Energy into Essentia Vitae.[1]
- An Ara Vitae Assembler, an AE2-compatible machine that can automate supported recipes directly from your ME network.[1]
- Automation for Ara Vitae recipes and Tabula Vitae recipes.[1]
- Essentia Vitae is drawn from ME fluid storage, and crafted results are inserted back into the ME network.[1]
- Ara Vitae Tier Cards II to V, a Parallel Processing Card and a Blood Speed Card, plus support for the AE2 Speed Card.[1]
- Optional JEI integration and a modpack-friendly common configuration.[1]
Blood Patterns
To tell the network what to craft, you use Blood Patterns. In the NeoVitae 26.1.2 beta line, you place a blank Blood Pattern into the AE2 Pattern Encoding Terminal and encode a valid Ara Vitae or Tabula Vitae recipe.[1]
An encoded pattern stores the recipe type, inputs, output, required tier, Essentia Vitae cost and recipe ID.[1]
How do you get started with BloodMagic AE2 Addition?
4 parts
BloodMagic AE2 Addition connects Blood Magic style crafting to Applied Energistics 2. The star of the mod is the Blood Assembler, a machine that lets your ME network automate Ara Vitae and Tabula Vitae recipes from Neo Vitae. Here is the order I would make things in.[1][3]
Step 1: Blood Pattern
Start with the Blood Pattern. It is a normal shaped crafting recipe, so you can make it right away. It is the blank pattern the whole mod runs on.[3][4]

Put the blank pattern into an AE2 Pattern Encoding Terminal to encode an Ara Vitae or Tabula Vitae recipe. Once encoded, its tooltip shows the required altar tier and the Essentia Vitae cost. Shift + Right Click clears an encoded pattern if you change your mind.[3]
Step 2: Blood Assembler
Next comes the Blood Assembler. Its in-pack recipe is an Ara Vitae recipe, not a crafting table recipe. In the machine's screen you will find a Patterns section for your encoded Blood Patterns and an Upgrade Cards section.[3][4]
Ara Vitae Recipe (neovitae)
Recipe id: bmaddon:ara_vitae/blood_altar_assembler
With no upgrades, the assembler runs one craft at a time, and the base craft time is 200 ticks.[5]
Step 3: Upgrade cards
The Ara Vitae Tier Cards raise the altar tier the assembler works at, and they support NeoVitae altar tiers up to IV. This pack has recipes for tiers II, III and IV. Match the card to the altar tier shown on your encoded pattern.[3][4]

Once the basics work, add speed and throughput. The Blood Assembler Parallel Processing Card increases the number of simultaneous crafts in the assembler.[3][4]

The Blood Speed Card works like an AE2 acceleration card, but it counts as four normal cards. Craft time cannot drop below 20 ticks, however many cards you add.[3][5]

The Blood Generator
The mod also adds a Blood Generator, which consumes FE to generate Essentia Vitae. Out of the box, each operation costs 1,000 FE and makes 10 mB, and the tank holds 16,000 mB. It pushes Essentia Vitae into adjacent fluid handlers automatically.[3][5]
How does BloodMagic AE2 Addition work?
4 parts
BloodMagic AE2 Addition ties Blood Magic style crafting into your AE2 network. It adds two machines: the Blood Generator, which turns Forge Energy into Essentia Vitae, and the Blood Assembler, an AE2 crafting provider for Ara Vitae and Tabula Vitae recipes. Everything else in the mod is a pattern or an upgrade card for those two.[1][3]
Blood Generator
The Blood Generator consumes FE to generate Essentia Vitae. Each operation costs blood_generator.energyPerOperation (1,000 FE) and makes blood_generator.lifeEssencePerOperation (10 mB). The GUI shows the stored Blood and FE, plus the exchange rate as "+mB for FE / t".[3][5]
- Energy buffer: blood_generator.energyCapacity is 100,000 FE, and blood_generator.maxEnergyInput limits intake to 2,000 FE per insertion.[5]
- Fluid buffer: blood_generator.lifeTankCapacity holds up to 16,000 mB of Essentia Vitae.[5]
- Speed: blood_generator.workIntervalTicks is 1, which means it runs every tick (20 would be once per second).[5]
- Output: blood_generator.autoOutput is true in the pack, so the generator pushes Essentia Vitae into adjacent fluid handlers, at most 100 mB per tick (blood_generator.maxFluidOutputPerTick).[5]
All of these generator values match the mod defaults, so the pack has not changed them.[5]
Blood Assembler and Blood Patterns
The Blood Assembler sits on your ME network and crafts supported recipes for it. It takes Essentia Vitae from ME fluid storage and inserts the finished results back into the network. Its screen has a Patterns section and an Upgrade Cards section.[1][3]
Ara Vitae Recipe (neovitae)
Recipe id: bmaddon:ara_vitae/blood_altar_assembler
The Blood Assembler is itself an Ara Vitae recipe from Neo Vitae.
The assembler only works from Blood Pattern items. Place a blank one in an AE2 Pattern Encoding Terminal to encode an Ara Vitae or Tabula Vitae recipe. An encoded pattern stores the recipe type, inputs, output, required tier, Essentia Vitae cost and recipe ID, and its tooltip shows the required altar tier and the EV cost.[1][3]

A blank Blood Pattern is a normal crafting table recipe.
Once an encoded pattern is inside the assembler, it is published to ME crafting straight away, so you can request the item from your network.[1]
Parallel crafts, speed and power
Without cards the assembler runs blood_altar_assembler.baseParallelCrafts craft at a time (1). The Blood Assembler Parallel Processing Card increases the number of simultaneous crafts. The pack lowers this compared to the mod: each card adds 1 extra craft (the mod default is 2, via blood_altar_assembler.parallelCraftsPerCard), and the hard cap is 4 active crafts (the mod default is 8, via blood_altar_assembler.maxParallelCrafts).[3][5]
Ara Vitae Recipe (neovitae)
Recipe id: bmaddon:ara_vitae/blood_altar_parallel_card
Parallel Processing Card.
For speed, a craft takes 200 ticks at base (blood_altar_assembler.baseCraftTimeTicks). Acceleration cards shorten that, but never below 20 ticks (blood_altar_assembler.minCraftTimeTicks). The Blood Speed Card works like an AE2 acceleration card but counts as four normal cards. AE2 Speed Cards are supported too.[1][3][5]
Ara Vitae Recipe (neovitae)
Recipe id: bmaddon:ara_vitae/blood_magic_speed_card
Blood Speed Card.
Speed costs AE energy. Each active craft uses 8 AE per tick (blood_altar_assembler.aePerTickBase), plus 12 AE per tick for every acceleration card (blood_altar_assembler.aePerTickPerAccelerationCard). blood_altar_assembler.lifeEssenceMultiplier scales the Essentia Vitae cost of recipes and is 1 here, so recipes cost their normal amount. These energy and cost values are the mod defaults.[5]
Tier cards
Ara Vitae recipes need a certain altar tier, and an encoded pattern shows the tier it requires. The assembler gets its tier from Upgrade Cards: each Tier Card raises the altar tier to the number on its tooltip, and the cards support Neo Vitae altar tiers up to IV. This pack has recipes for Ara Vitae Tier Card II, Ara Vitae Tier Card III and Ara Vitae Tier Card IV.[3][4]

How do you progress through BloodMagic AE2 Addition?
4 parts
The sources for this pack don't lay out a step-by-step tier ladder for BloodMagic AE2 Addition, so this section sticks to what the in-pack recipes show: which items exist and how each one is made.[4]
What you craft first
The one item here made at a normal crafting grid is the Blood Pattern. Its recipe is a shaped crafting recipe, so you can make it without any Blood Magic altar work.[4]

Ara Vitae recipes
Everything else in the mod's recipe list uses the Ara Vitae recipe type from Neo Vitae. That covers the machine itself, the three tier cards and the two upgrade cards.[4]
The Blood Assembler is the machine. It drops itself when broken.[4][6]

Tier cards
There are three tier cards, and each has its own Ara Vitae recipe: Ara Vitae Tier Card II, Ara Vitae Tier Card III and Ara Vitae Tier Card IV. Their names run from II to IV.[4]

Which BloodMagic AE2 Addition config options matter?
3 parts
The mod's settings live in one file, blood_altar_assembler.maxParallelCrafts is in it, along with everything else for the Ara Vitae Assembler and the Blood Generator. The pack only changed two values, and both are about how much the Assembler can do at once. Everything else is the mod default.[5]
What the pack changed
- blood_altar_assembler.maxParallelCrafts is 4 in the pack. The mod default is 8. This is the hard cap for active crafts in one Ara Vitae Assembler.[5]
- blood_altar_assembler.parallelCraftsPerCard is 1 in the pack. The mod default is 2. This is how many additional parallel crafts each Ara Vitae Parallel Card adds.[5]
Assembler settings left at default
These are all at the mod default in the pack, so you can use the mod's normal behaviour as a guide.[5]
- blood_altar_assembler.baseParallelCrafts is 1: that is how many crafts the Assembler can run without parallel cards.[5]
- blood_altar_assembler.baseCraftTimeTicks is 200 ticks, and blood_altar_assembler.minCraftTimeTicks is 20 ticks. The second one is the minimum craft time after acceleration cards.[5]
- blood_altar_assembler.aePerTickBase is 8 AE per active craft each tick. blood_altar_assembler.aePerTickPerAccelerationCard adds 12 AE per active craft each tick for every acceleration card.[5]
- blood_altar_assembler.lifeEssenceMultiplier is 1, so Ara Vitae recipes need their normal amount of Essentia Vitae.[5]
Blood Generator
The Blood Generator is untouched by the pack. It turns Forge Energy into Essentia Vitae: blood_generator.energyPerOperation is 1,000 FE per operation, and blood_generator.lifeEssencePerOperation is 10 mB of Essentia Vitae per operation. blood_generator.workIntervalTicks is 1, which means it runs every tick.[5]
- blood_generator.energyCapacity is 100,000 FE, and blood_generator.maxEnergyInput is 2,000 FE accepted per insertion.[5]
- blood_generator.lifeTankCapacity is 16,000 mB of Essentia Vitae.[5]
- blood_generator.autoOutput is true, so the generator pushes Essentia Vitae into adjacent fluid handlers. blood_generator.maxFluidOutputPerTick limits that to 100 mB per tick.[5]
