What is Applied Cooking?
1 part
Same as in the FTB StoneBlock 4 1.21.0 guide
Applied Cooking is a small bridge mod. It lets Applied Energistics 2 and Cooking for Blockheads work together, so your cooking setup can use what is already in your AE2 storage. This pack includes version 6.2.1.[1][2]
The mod adds one block, the Kitchen Station. Once it is connected, you can consume items from your AE2 network inventory right from your cooking table. Water and milk are pulled from the network too.[1]
Setting it up
Before you place the Kitchen Station as part of your Cooking for Blockheads kitchen network, you need to configure it as if it were a Wireless Terminal. On Minecraft 1.20 and newer, you do that in an AE2 Wireless Access Point.[1]
The Kitchen Station shows whether it is connected, linked but offline, or unlinked. The mod's in-game guide is a Patchouli book, so Patchouli needs to be installed to read it.[1][3]
Unverified The sources here do not show where the pack's quest book places this mod, or whether the ATM Star path uses it, so nothing about its chapter, group or position is stated.
How do you get started with Applied Cooking?
4 parts
Good news: Applied Cooking only adds one block, so getting started is quick. The ME Kitchen Station connects your Cooking for Blockheads kitchen to Applied Energistics 2, so you can cook straight from your ME network inventory.[4]
The station also lets your cooking table use fluids like water and milk from the network, not just items.[4]
Craft the ME Kitchen Station
This is the only item you need to make. Here is the exact in-pack recipe:[5]
Crafting Shaped
| Toaster | Me Chest | Milk Jar |
| Fluix Glass Cable | Cell Component 16k | Fluix Glass Cable |
| Crafting Book | Engineering Processor | No Filter Edition |

The ME Kitchen Station uses a mod recipe in this pack.
Link it to your network
Before the station does anything, you have to link it, a bit like setting up a wireless terminal. You do this at an ME Wireless Access Point on your powered network.[1][4]
- Open an ME Wireless Access Point that is on your powered network.[4]
- Drop the station into the wireless-terminal slot.[4]
- Take the station back out. The link is now saved on the block.[4]
The saved link works even across dimensions, as long as the Access Point stays chunk-loaded.[4]
Place it in your kitchen
Put the linked station in your kitchen, either right next to the cooking table or wired in through counters. Once it is connected, its screen glows purple.[4]
If you have Jade installed, looking at the station shows its state: connected, linked but with the network unreachable, or offline.[4]
Power use
The station draws a little power from the network while it runs. In this pack, kitchenStation.idlePowerDrain is set to 5 AE/t, which is the same as the mod default.[4][6]
How does Applied Cooking work?
4 parts
Applied Cooking adds one new block, the ME Kitchen Station. It lets your Cooking for Blockheads cooking table craft with items from your Applied Energistics 2 network, and with fluids like water and milk too. Everything the mod does runs through this one block.[1][4]

Linking the station to your network
Before you place the station in your kitchen, you have to configure it, much like a wireless terminal. In Minecraft 1.20 and newer, you do that at an ME Wireless Access Point.[1]
- Open an ME Wireless Access Point that is on your powered network.[4]
- Drop the station into the wireless-terminal slot.[4]
- Take it back out. The link is now saved on the block.[4]
Placing it in your kitchen
Put the linked station in your kitchen, either right next to the cooking table or wired in through counters. Once everything is connected, the cooking table can consume items from your network inventory, and water and milk are pulled from the network as well.[1][4]
Power use
The station draws power from the linked ME network while it runs. In this pack, kitchenStation.idlePowerDrain is set to 5 AE/t, which is the same as the mod default. The drain is paid every tick while the station is connected.[4][6]
Reading the station's state
The station looks different depending on whether it is connected, linked but offline, or unlinked. When it is connected, its screen glows purple.[1][4]
If you have Jade installed, it shows more detail. The messages it can give are:[1][4]
How do you progress through Applied Cooking?
2 parts
Applied Cooking doesn't give you a tier ladder to climb in this pack. The recipe data shows one craftable item from Applied Cooking: the ME Kitchen Station. That makes it a single crafting step, not a multi-stage progression.[5]
Crafting the ME Kitchen Station
The ME Kitchen Station is made with a shaped crafting recipe that comes from the mod itself. The recipe block below shows the exact in-pack version.[5]
Crafting Shaped
| Toaster | Me Chest | Milk Jar |
| Fluix Glass Cable | Cell Component 16k | Fluix Glass Cable |
| Crafting Book | Engineering Processor | No Filter Edition |
Recipe id: appliedcooking:kitchen_station
Shaped crafting recipe, added by the mod.
After you place it
When you break the block, it drops as the ME Kitchen Station item again.[7]
The mod also ships an in-game guide with an entry for the kitchen station. It has sections on crafting, linking, placement and the station's states, so check it in-game for how to set the block up.[8]
Which Applied Cooking config options matter?
1 part
Same as in the FTB StoneBlock 4 1.21.0 guide
Applied Cooking has very little to configure. The one option in the sources is the Kitchen Station's power draw, and it lives in the server config file, so it applies to the world you're playing in.[9]
Kitchen Station power drain
kitchenStation.idlePowerDrain sets how much power the Kitchen Station pulls from its linked ME network every tick while it's connected, measured in AE/t. This pack sets it to 5, which is the same as the mod default, so the pack hasn't changed it.[9]
The drain is paid every tick, and only if your network can cover it in full. If the network can't keep up, the Station goes offline until power returns.[9]
Unverified No other Applied Cooking config options appear in the sources I was given, so I can't confirm whether the mod has any more settings in this pack.
What changed in Applied Cooking between versions?
3 parts
FTB Evolution 2 1.1.0 ships Applied Cooking 7.2.0. The pack has included the mod since 1.0.2 or earlier, so this is the version you get when you play 1.1.0.[10]
7.2.0: ME Kitchen Station visual overhaul
The 7.2.0 release is a visual overhaul of the ME Kitchen Station, and the mod's changelog says it has no gameplay changes. So nothing about how the station works is different, but it is much easier to read at a glance.[11]
What was added
- The screen now shows three states. Purple means linked and powered. Red means it is linked but can't reach the network (no power to spare, the Access Point inactive, or its chunk unloaded). A dark screen means it isn't linked yet.[11]
- Before this update, a linked station that couldn't reach the network looked the same as an unlinked one. Now the two are distinct, and Jade reports the same three states in words.[11]
- The display is emissive, so you can read it in the dark. It is brightest when online, dimmer for the linked-but-unreachable warning, and off when unlinked.[11]
What changed
- New model and textures: a retro desktop-computer look with a tilted screen, replacing the old block.[11]
- The item shows the powered (purple) look in your inventory, hotbar and tooltips.[11]
- The block's hitbox was rebuilt to fit the new model.[11]
- The guide's "Reading the Screen" page and its screenshots were updated for the three states.[11]
- The guide book got a new book texture and item icon.[11]
Unverified Pack changelog entries for Applied Cooking are not shown in the sources here, so any change the pack itself made to this mod across its releases is unverified. Check the pack's own changelogs for that.
