What is Apothic-Spawners?

4 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 11 0.8.0-beta guide

Apothic-Spawners is the Spawner Module of Apotheosis. It lets you pick up Mob Spawners with silk touch and then tune them with ordinary vanilla items, so you can build faster and more efficient spawners than you could in vanilla. This pack includes version 2.0.1.[1][2]

What a spawner can do

Every spawner has stats that control how it behaves. Vanilla provides the basic ones: minimum and maximum spawn delay (in ticks), spawn count, max nearby entities, required player range and spawn range.[1]

The mod adds more advanced stats on top of those:[1]

  • Initial Health, Ignore Players, Ignore Conditions, Redstone Control and Ignore Light.[1]
  • No AI and Silent, which stop spawned mobs from thinking or making sound.[1]
  • Youthful, which makes spawned mobs babies where possible, and Burning, which spawns them on fire.[1]
  • Echoing, which makes spawned mobs drop an additional copy of their loot table on death.[1]

Changing the stats

You change a spawner's stats with a Spawner Modifier. These are recipes that take one or two input items held in your hands, and they apply their stat change when you right-click the spawner. Each modifier has its own caps on the stats it touches, and one modifier can change several stats at once. Hover over a modified stat to see a description and the modifier's min or max value.[1]

The Capturing enchantment

The mod also adds the Capturing enchantment for swords. It gives mobs a chance to drop their spawn egg on death, and you can use those eggs to change the type of mob a spawner spawns.[1]

Where it sits in the quest book

Unverified The sources here do not show which quest book chapter or group covers this mod, what comes before or after it, or whether the ATM Star path uses it. Check the pack's quest book for those details.

How do you get started with Apothic-Spawners?

2 parts

Apothic-Spawners is all about moving and modifying mob spawners with vanilla items. You can build faster, more efficient spawners than the default ones. The first steps happen in the world, so here is the order I'd go in.[1]

Your first steps

  1. Pick up a spawner with Silk Touch. The mod has an advancement for collecting a mob spawner this way, and its root advancement points you to JEI for info.[1][3]
  2. Open JEI or EMI and look at the info for spawners, plus the Spawner Modification category in EMI. That is where you can see which items modify a spawner.[3]
  3. Use a Spawner Modifier. Each one takes one or two input items held in your hands. Right-click a spawner with them and the stat change is applied. Every modifier has its own cap on the stats it changes, and some change more than one stat at once.[1]
  4. Put the Capturing enchantment on a sword. It gives mobs a chance to drop their spawn egg when they die, and a spawn egg lets you change the type of mob a spawner spawns.[1][3]

Unverified Which items act as Spawner Modifiers in this pack, and how they are crafted, is not shown in the sources here. Check the Spawner Modification category in JEI or EMI for the exact in-pack recipes. This site does hold FTB Evolution 2's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.

Tip: Hover over a spawner's modified stats to see a description of each stat and the modifier-specific minimum or maximum value.[1]
Watch out: The mod's spawner info text has different versions: one says spawners are collected with Silk Touch, another says they always drop when broken, and another says Silk Touch collection is disabled. The sources here do not show which applies in this pack, so read the spawner info in JEI or EMI before you go hunting for one.[3]

Stats worth aiming for

The mod's advancements double as a checklist of upgrades. They ask you to lower both the minimum and maximum spawn delay to 20, raise the spawn count to 16, raise the max nearby entities to 32, raise the spawn range to 32 and raise the player activation range to 48.[3]

Beyond those numbers you can enable redstone control, disable Mob AI, make the spawner work in any light level, ignore spawn conditions and ignore the need for nearby players. The final advancement asks you to combine minimal delays, redstone control, no AI, ignored spawn conditions and ignored players in one spawner.[3]

There are also stats for silent mobs, baby mobs, burning mobs and echoing, which makes spawned mobs drop an additional copy of their loot table on death.[1]

How does Apothic-Spawners work?

6 parts

Apothic-Spawners is a mod about moving and modifying mob spawners. It is the Spawner Module of Apotheosis, so everything below is about the spawner block and the items that tweak it: you pick a spawner up, change its stats, and choose what it spawns.[1]

Collecting a spawner

Spawners can be picked up with Silk Touch, so you can carry one home and set it up where you want it. The mod's in-game info text has different variants: spawners can be collected with a given tool, spawners always drop when broken, or collection with Silk Touch is disabled.[1][3]

Unverified Which of these collection variants this pack uses is not shown by the sources here, and no config file for this mod is available for the pack. Check the info text for spawners in JEI to see which one applies. This site does hold FTB Evolution 2's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.

Spawner stats

Every spawner has stats that control how it behaves. The basic ones come from vanilla Minecraft:[1]

  • Minimum Spawn Delay and Maximum Spawn Delay: the lower and upper bounds, in ticks, of the time between spawns.[1]
  • Spawn Count: the upper bound on the number of entities spawned.[1]
  • Max Nearby Entities: how many entities of the spawning type can be nearby before spawning stops.[1][3]
  • Required Player Range: the radius in blocks that a player must be within for the spawner to be active.[1]
  • Spawn Range: the radius in blocks in which the spawner will attempt to spawn entities.[1]

The more advanced stats are provided by Apotheosis:[1]

  • Initial Health: the percentage of max health that mobs are spawned with.[1]
  • Ignore Players: the spawner ignores the required player range and activates regardless.[1]
  • Ignore Conditions: the spawner ignores all spawn rules for the spawned entity.[1]
  • Redstone Control: the spawner must be activated by a redstone signal.[1]
  • Ignore Light: the spawner will spawn the target entity regardless of light level.[1]
  • No AI: spawned mobs have the No AI flag set. They are still moved by gravity and external force.[1]
  • Silent: spawned mobs have the Silent flag set, so they make no sound.[1]
  • Youthful: if possible, spawned mobs will be babies.[1]
  • Burning: mobs are spawned on fire.[1]
  • Echoing: spawned mobs drop an additional copy of their loot table on death.[1]
Tip: Hover over a modified stat to see a description of it and the min or max value of the modifier that changed it.[1]

Spawner modifiers

You change stats with a Spawner Modifier. These are recipes that take one or two input items held in your hands. You right-click the spawner and the stat change is applied. Each modifier has its own caps on the stats it changes, and one modifier can change more than one stat at once.[1]

The mod's root advancement says spawners can be collected and modified, and points you to JEI for info. The mod also adds a Spawner Modification category to EMI.[3]

Choosing the mob

Spawn eggs can be used to change the type of mob a spawner will spawn. To get them, the mod adds the Capturing enchantment, which applies to swords and gives mobs a chance to drop their spawn egg on death.[1]

Some entities are kept out of spawners. The mod's blacklisted_from_spawners entity tag lists the warden, the elder guardian and everything in the c:bosses tag.[4]

Advancement targets

The mod's advancement descriptions give you a handy checklist of what to aim for when upgrading a spawner:[3]

  • The minimum delay and maximum delay advancements each ask you to decrease that delay to 20.[3]
  • The nearby entities, player range, spawn count and spawn range advancements ask you to raise max nearby entities to 32, player activation range to 48, spawn count to 16 and spawn range to 32.[3]
  • Other advancements ask you to disable spawn conditions, disable light requirements, disable the need for nearby players, disable mob AI and enable redstone control.[3]
  • The ultimate spawner advancement asks for a spawner with minimal delays that has redstone control, no AI, ignores spawn conditions, and ignores players.[3]

Unstable spawner loot

The mod also has a gameplay loot table called unstable_spawner. It gives a random stack-sized amount of Spawner Chain. The sources here do not say what triggers it.[5]

How do you progress through Apothic-Spawners?

1 part

This section is short, because the sources for this pack don't lay out a tier ladder for Apothic-Spawners. What they do show are a couple of data details you can rely on.[4][5]

What the mod's data shows

  • The mod has a chest-type loot table for an unstable spawner. It has a single entry, Spawner Chain from Apotheosis, and the table rolls that entry a uniform random number of times between a minimum and a maximum set in the file.[5]
  • The mod's blacklisted_from_spawners entity tag lists the Warden, the Elder Guardian and everything in the c:bosses tag, so those mobs are blacklisted from spawners.[4]

What changed in Apothic-Spawners between versions?

FTB Evolution 2 1.1.0 ships Apothic-Spawners 2.0.1. The mod was already in the pack by 1.0.2 or earlier, so it is not a newcomer in this release.[6]

Unverified The sources here do not show any pack changelog entries for this mod, and they do not include the contents of the mod's own 2.0.1 changelog. What changed in Apothic-Spawners between pack releases is therefore not confirmed in this guide.

We can't match this mod to the pack's item list: it registers as apothic_spawners, and the pack's recipe dump has nothing under that name. That means we found nothing, not that the mod adds nothing. Search the item browser
