What is Apothic-Spawners?

4 parts

Apothic-Spawners is the Spawner Module of Apotheosis. It lets you pick up Mob Spawners with silk touch and then tune them with ordinary vanilla items, so you can build faster and more efficient spawners than you could in vanilla. This pack includes version 2.0.1.[1][2]

What a spawner can do

Every spawner has stats that control how it behaves. Vanilla provides the basic ones: minimum and maximum spawn delay (in ticks), spawn count, max nearby entities, required player range and spawn range.[1]

The mod adds more advanced stats on top of those:[1]

  • Initial Health, Ignore Players, Ignore Conditions, Redstone Control and Ignore Light.[1]
  • No AI and Silent, which stop spawned mobs from thinking or making sound.[1]
  • Youthful, which makes spawned mobs babies where possible, and Burning, which spawns them on fire.[1]
  • Echoing, which makes spawned mobs drop an additional copy of their loot table on death.[1]

Changing the stats

You change a spawner's stats with a Spawner Modifier. These are recipes that take one or two input items held in your hands, and they apply their stat change when you right-click the spawner. Each modifier has its own caps on the stats it touches, and one modifier can change several stats at once. Hover over a modified stat to see a description and the modifier's min or max value.[1]

The Capturing enchantment

The mod also adds the Capturing enchantment for swords. It gives mobs a chance to drop their spawn egg on death, and you can use those eggs to change the type of mob a spawner spawns.[1]

Where it sits in the quest book

Unverified The sources here do not show which quest book chapter or group covers this mod, what comes before or after it, or whether the ATM Star path uses it. Check the pack's quest book for those details.

How do you get started with Apothic-Spawners?

1 part

Apothic Spawners is all about picking up Mob Spawners and tuning them. Your first steps here aren't about crafting a pile of new items. You collect a spawner, get the mob you want, and then modify it.[1]

  1. Collect a spawner. Mob Spawners can be picked up with Silk Touch, and the first advancement asks you to do exactly that. The spawner info text also tells you how collection works: with Silk Touch, always dropping when broken, or with Silk Touch collection disabled. Check the in-game info text to see which applies.[1][3]
  2. Get the mob you want. The Capturing enchantment goes on a sword and gives mobs a chance to drop their spawn egg. The drop rate is listed per level. A spawn egg can then be used to change the type of mob a spawner spawns.[1][3]
  3. Modify the spawner. You do this with a Spawner Modifier. Hold one or two input items in your hands and right-click the spawner to apply the stat change. Each modifier has its own caps on the stats it changes, and some change more than one stat at once.[1]
Tip: Hover over the modified stats to see a description of each stat, plus the modifier-specific minimum or maximum value. The advancements also point you to JEI for info, and the mod adds a Spawner Modification category for EMI.[1][3]

Goals to aim for

The mod's advancements make a handy checklist for your first upgrades. Here are the targets they set:[3]

  • Lower the minimum spawn delay to 20, and the maximum spawn delay to 20.[3]
  • Raise the spawn count to 16, the max nearby entities to 32, the spawn range to 32, and the player activation range to 48.[3]
  • Unlock the toggles: ignore light levels, ignore spawn conditions, disable the need for nearby players, disable Mob AI, and enable redstone control.[3]
  • Finish with the ultimate spawner: minimal delays, redstone control, no AI, ignoring spawn conditions, and ignoring players.[3]

Unverified The sources here do not show any in-pack recipes for this mod's items or any quests involving it, so there are no recipe blocks in this section. Look up the Spawner Modifier recipes in JEI or EMI in-game before you plan your first build. This site does hold All the Mods 11's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.

How does Apothic-Spawners work?

6 parts

Apothic Spawners is all about picking up Mob Spawners and tweaking how they behave. Everything below is how the spawner system works, as far as the sources explain it.[1]

Collecting a spawner

You can pick up a mob spawner with Silk Touch. The mod's in-game info text covers different setups: spawners collectable with a specific tool or enchantment, spawners that always drop when broken, and spawners where Silk Touch collection is disabled. Check the info text in the recipe viewer to see which setup applies.[1][3]

Spawner stats

Every spawner has a set of stats that control its behavior. The basic ones come from vanilla Minecraft:[1]

  • Minimum Spawn Delay and Maximum Spawn Delay: the lower and upper bounds, in ticks, of the time between spawns.[1]
  • Spawn Count: the upper bound on how many entities are spawned at once.[1]
  • Max Nearby Entities: how many entities of the spawning type can be nearby before spawning stops.[1]
  • Required Player Range: the radius, in blocks, that a player must be within for the spawner to be active.[1]
  • Spawn Range: the radius, in blocks, in which the spawner tries to place mobs.[1]

The mod adds more advanced stats on top of those, which come from Apotheosis:[1]

  • Initial Health: the percentage of max health that spawned mobs start with.[1]
  • Ignore Players: the spawner activates even without a player in range.[1]
  • Ignore Conditions: the spawner ignores all spawn rules for the spawned entity.[1]
  • Ignore Light: the spawner spawns its target regardless of light level.[1]
  • Redstone Control: the spawner must be activated by a redstone signal.[1]
  • No AI: spawned mobs get the No AI flag, but gravity and outside force can still move them.[1]
  • Silent: spawned mobs make no sound.[1]
  • Youthful: spawned mobs are babies whenever that's possible.[1]
  • Burning: spawned mobs are set on fire.[1]
  • Echoing: spawned mobs drop an additional copy of their loot table on death.[1]
Tip: Hover over a modified stat in the spawner's tooltip. You'll see a description of the stat and the min or max value for that specific modifier.[1]

Spawner Modifiers

You change a spawner's stats with a Spawner Modifier. These are recipes that take one or two input items, which you hold in your hands. Right-click the spawner and the stat change is applied. Each modifier has its own caps on the stats it changes, and one modifier can change several stats at once.[1]

A few stats matter most if you want to automate a spawner. Ignore Players removes the need for a nearby player, Redstone Control means the spawner needs a redstone signal to activate, and No AI stops spawned mobs from acting on their own. Max Nearby Entities also decides when spawning pauses, because spawning stops once enough of that mob type are nearby.[1]

Capturing and changing the mob type

The Capturing enchantment goes on swords and gives mobs a chance to drop their spawn egg on death. The drop rate is shown per enchantment level in the enchantment's info text. Spawn eggs can then be used to change the type of mob a spawner spawns.[1][3]

Advancement milestones

The mod's advancements double as a handy checklist of what spawner upgrades can do. They ask you to lower both the minimum and maximum spawn delay to 20, raise the spawn count to 16, raise the max nearby entities to 32, raise the spawn range to 32 and raise the player activation range to 48. The final one, the ultimate spawner, needs minimal delays, redstone control, no AI, ignored spawn conditions and ignored players.[3]

Unverified The sources here do not show which items work as modifiers in this pack, what each modifier's caps are, or whether the pack changes any defaults. Those details live in the Spawner Modification category of the recipe viewer, and no config files for this mod were available. This site does hold All the Mods 11's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.
