What is Inventory Profiles Next?

2 parts

Same as in the All the Mods - Gravitas 4.0 guide

Inventory Profiles Next is an inventory management mod. Its goal is to put you in control of your inventory: sorting, moving matching items, throwing everything out at once, locked slots and gear sets. If you're tired of messy inventories and chests in a big modpack, this one is for you.[1]

The pack includes version 1.10.7, using the Forge build for Minecraft 1.18.2.[2]

What it does for you

  • Keeps your inventory sorted.[1]
  • Replaces your quasi-broken tool.[1]
  • Dumps everything into a chest with one click.[1]
  • Moves the items you carry that are already in the chest.[1]
  • Locks item slots in place so sorting ignores them, and can keep locked slots empty.[1]
  • Lets you press R+C to set your shortcuts.[1]

Who it's for

It's for anyone who hauls lots of items around and wants less time spent shuffling stacks. The mod is pure client-side, so it works everywhere.[1]

Watch out: If you're coming from Inventory Tweaks, note that this mod is not a drop-in replacement for it. It can't be made to work like Inventory Tweaks, so you'll need to learn how Inventory Profiles Next works. If that's a problem, a separate add-on called InvTweaks Emu for IPN can emulate some of the shortcuts Inventory Tweaks used.[1]

Unverified The sources I have don't show where this mod fits into the pack's progression, so I can't say whether it connects to the ATM Star path or to any quests.

How do you get started with Inventory Profiles Next?

1 part

Same as in the All the Mods - Gravitas 4.0 guide

Good news: Inventory Profiles Next is a quality-of-life mod, so you don't need to craft anything to start using it. It's purely client-side, and it's there to keep your inventory under control from your very first minutes in the world.[1]

What to try first

  1. Open your inventory and try sorting it. Keeping your inventory sorted is the mod's main job, and it's the quickest way to see what it does.[1]
  2. Open a chest and dump everything into it with one click. You can also move only the items you carry that the chest already holds.[1]
  3. Lock the slots you want left alone, like your tools or armor. Sorting ignores locked slots, and the mod can also keep them empty.[1]
  4. Press R+C to set your shortcuts, so the mod's actions sit on keys that suit you.[1]
Tip: If you're coming from Inventory Tweaks, don't expect it to behave the same. Inventory Profiles Next is not a drop-in replacement and can't be made to work like it, so plan to learn its own controls. An add-on called InvTweaks Emu for IPN can emulate some of the old Inventory Tweaks shortcuts if you miss them.[1]

Unverified I couldn't confirm any in-pack recipes or quests for this mod, so there is nothing to craft or complete first. Any pack-specific default keybinds or config changes are also unverified.

How does Inventory Profiles Next work?

3 parts

Inventory Profiles Next is an inventory-management mod, so there are no machines, multiblocks, power or fluids to learn here. Its project page describes it as pure client-side, so it works everywhere. The mechanics are the tools it gives you for handling your own inventory and the chests you open.[1]

What the mod does for you

  • Keeps your inventory sorted.[1]
  • Dumps everything into a chest with one click.[1]
  • Moves the items you carry that are already in the chest you have open.[1]
  • Lets you lock item slots in place so sorting ignores them, and keep locked slots empty.[1]
  • Lets you press R+C to set your shortcuts.[1]
Tip: If you're coming from Inventory Tweaks, this mod is not a drop-in replacement and you'll need to learn how Inventory Profiles Next works. The project page points to a separate add-on, InvTweaks Emu for IPN, that emulates some of the old shortcuts.[1]

Applied Energistics screen hints

The pack ships a config file with integration hints for Applied Energistics screens. They set button offsets for the mod's Settings and Show Editor buttons on screens such as the Drive, Interface, Pattern Provider, Molecular Assembler, Inscriber, IO Bus, Wireless and Security Station.[3]

On the Drive screen, the pack sets the Settings button with appeng.client.gui.implementations.DriveScreen.buttonHints.SETTINGS.horizontalOffset at 30 and appeng.client.gui.implementations.DriveScreen.buttonHints.SETTINGS.top at -25.[3]

The Show Editor button on the same screen uses appeng.client.gui.implementations.DriveScreen.buttonHints.SHOW_EDITOR.horizontalOffset at 20 and appeng.client.gui.implementations.DriveScreen.buttonHints.SHOW_EDITOR.top at -10.[3]

The Security Station screen also gets sorting-button offsets. appeng.client.gui.implementations.SecurityStationScreen.buttonHints.SORT.horizontalOffset, appeng.client.gui.implementations.SecurityStationScreen.buttonHints.SORT_COLUMNS.horizontalOffset and appeng.client.gui.implementations.SecurityStationScreen.buttonHints.SORT_ROWS.horizontalOffset are each 20.[3]

Player-side only and ignored screens

The file sets a player-side-only flag to true on many Applied Energistics screens, including the Chest, Condenser, Drive, Interface, Pattern Provider, Molecular Assembler and Vibration Chamber screens. An example is appeng.client.gui.implementations.ChestScreen.playerSideOnly. The Spatial Anchor screen is set to be ignored through appeng.client.gui.implementations.SpatialAnchorScreen.ignore.[3]

Which Inventory Profiles Next config options matter?

1 part

The Inventory Profiles Next config in this pack is a set of per-screen integration hint files, one for each of several mods. They hold button offsets, plus a few flags, for individual modded screens. Here are the values worth knowing.[3][4][5][6][7][8]

The values the pack sets

Some screens get their own sort button values instead of just the shared ones.[5][8]

What changed in Inventory Profiles Next between versions?

3 parts

All the Mods - Gravitas 3.2 ships Inventory Profiles Next 1.10.2 (the Forge 1.18.2 build), and the mod has been in the pack since Gravitas 1.8b or earlier. The pack changelogs have no entries for this mod, so everything below comes from the mod's own changelogs.[9]

1.9.2

  • Added a workaround for a Vault Hunters problem where a stack's NBT was sometimes set to null and sometimes to an empty CompoundNBT, which was breaking auto refill.[10]
  • Fixed the quick locked slot key not saving the locked slots.[10]
  • Fixed the default sort so it follows the order of the search tab of the creative menu.[10]
  • Added a workaround for MacOS OpenGL behaviour that stopped locked slots, swipe move/throw and tooltips from mostly working on Forge builds.[10]
  • Added a workaround for Scout differences with vanilla: Scout slots are now ignored.[10]
Watch out: The 1.9.2 sort fix changes the default sort, so your sorted inventories may come out in a different order than they used to.[10]

1.10.0 and 1.10.1

  • Added support for Chipped Stone Cutter like crafting tables, on Forge and Fabric 1.16.5, 1.18.2 and 1.19.2. The changelog said support for newer Chipped versions would be added when they became available.[11]
  • Added Villager and Wandering Trader trading enhancements. Shortcuts can be assigned to all the actions, so you don't have to use the GUI.[11]
  • The changelog noted that, currently, the trading GUI can't be disabled without disabling the whole feature, and said this would be addressed in the next release.[11]

1.10.2

  • The previously released build had somehow been made from the 1.10.1 sources, so 1.10.2 followed quickly to correct that.[12]
  • Fixed the bookmark buttons not working on the last 1 or 2 trades.[12]
  • Fixed a random crash some players had while trading or switching villagers.[12]

Since 1.9.2, the changelogs also carry a note that Quilt support is limited: the mod works on Quilt through Fabric compatibility, and problems that can't be reproduced on Fabric get very low priority. This was due to multiple Quilt specific crashes and one item duplication.[10][12]
