What is Inventory Profiles Next?
2 parts
Inventory Profiles Next is an inventory management mod. Its goal is to put you in control of your inventory: sorting, moving matching items, throwing everything out at once, locked slots and gear sets. If you're tired of messy inventories and chests in a big modpack, this one is for you.[1]
The pack includes version 1.10.7, using the Forge build for Minecraft 1.18.2.[2]
What it does for you
- Keeps your inventory sorted.[1]
- Replaces your quasi-broken tool.[1]
- Dumps everything into a chest with one click.[1]
- Moves the items you carry that are already in the chest.[1]
- Locks item slots in place so sorting ignores them, and can keep locked slots empty.[1]
- Lets you press R+C to set your shortcuts.[1]
Who it's for
It's for anyone who hauls lots of items around and wants less time spent shuffling stacks. The mod is pure client-side, so it works everywhere.[1]
Unverified The sources I have don't show where this mod fits into the pack's progression, so I can't say whether it connects to the ATM Star path or to any quests.
How do you get started with Inventory Profiles Next?
1 part
Good news: Inventory Profiles Next is a quality-of-life mod, so you don't need to craft anything to start using it. It's purely client-side, and it's there to keep your inventory under control from your very first minutes in the world.[1]
What to try first
- Open your inventory and try sorting it. Keeping your inventory sorted is the mod's main job, and it's the quickest way to see what it does.[1]
- Open a chest and dump everything into it with one click. You can also move only the items you carry that the chest already holds.[1]
- Lock the slots you want left alone, like your tools or armor. Sorting ignores locked slots, and the mod can also keep them empty.[1]
- Press R+C to set your shortcuts, so the mod's actions sit on keys that suit you.[1]
Unverified I couldn't confirm any in-pack recipes or quests for this mod, so there is nothing to craft or complete first. Any pack-specific default keybinds or config changes are also unverified.
How does Inventory Profiles Next work?
3 parts
Here's the honest picture: Inventory Profiles Next doesn't have machines, multiblocks, power, or fluids. It's an inventory management mod, so its core mechanics are all about what happens in your inventory screens. It sorts, moves matching items, throws everything, locks slots, and handles gear sets.[1]
What the mod does
- Keeps your inventory sorted, and can replace your tool when it breaks.[1]
- Dumps everything into a chest with one click, or moves only the items you carry that are already in the chest.[1]
- Lets you lock item slots in place so sorting ignores them. You can also keep locked slots empty.[1]
- Lets you press R+C to set your shortcuts.[1]
- Is purely client-side, so it works everywhere.[1]
Applied Energistics 2 screen integration
The pack ships an integration file that tells the mod where to place its buttons on Applied Energistics 2 screens. The listed screens are the chest, condenser, drive, energy level emitter, inscriber, and interface. The file also has entries for the IO bus screen, and the sources say 61 more options aren't shown.[3]
On each of those screens, the settings button is set to a horizontal offset of 30 and a top value of -25 (for example appeng.client.gui.implementations.InscriberScreen.buttonHints.SETTINGS.horizontalOffset and appeng.client.gui.implementations.InscriberScreen.buttonHints.SETTINGS.top). The editor button is set to a horizontal offset of 20 and a top value of -10 (for example appeng.client.gui.implementations.InscriberScreen.buttonHints.SHOW_EDITOR.horizontalOffset and appeng.client.gui.implementations.InscriberScreen.buttonHints.SHOW_EDITOR.top).[3]
The chest, condenser, drive, energy level emitter, inscriber, and interface screens also have the player-side-only option set to true, for example appeng.client.gui.implementations.DriveScreen.playerSideOnly. The sources don't spell out exactly what that does, only that the pack sets it that way.[3]
Villager trading bookmarks
The mod also has a villager trading config with global bookmark lists for every villager profession, such as globalBookmarks.librarian and globalBookmarks.farmer. In this pack, every one of those lists is empty, and the same is true of the second copy of the file under the other config folder. If you want bookmarked trades, you'll be starting from scratch.[4][5]
Unverified The sources don't explain any machine, multiblock, power, fluid, or automation mechanics for this mod, and they don't say what the trading bookmarks or the player-side-only option do in detail. Treat any claims about those as unconfirmed.
Which Inventory Profiles Next config options matter?
2 parts
Here's the honest picture: the config files I have for this mod in the pack are the per-screen integration hints and the villager trading bookmarks. They're mostly layout settings that place Inventory Profiles Next's buttons on other mods' GUIs. They aren't the gameplay options you'd normally tune.[3][4][5][6]
Button placement on modded screens
The pack ships hint files for several mods' screens. Across them, the settings button is set to a horizontal offset of 30 and a top of -25, and the editor button to a horizontal offset of 20 and a top of -10. The ME storage screen is one place you can see this.[3]
- The Applied Energistics screens (the ME storage screen, crafting and pattern terminals, drives, interfaces and more) use those same settings and editor button positions. The ME storage screen is also set to playerSideOnly = true, and its sort buttons get a horizontal offset of 20. See appeng.client.gui.me.common.MEStorageScreen.playerSideOnly and appeng.client.gui.me.common.MEStorageScreen.buttonHints.SORT.horizontalOffset.[3]
- The spatial anchor screen and the terminal settings screen are marked ignore = true. See appeng.client.gui.implementations.SpatialAnchorScreen.ignore and appeng.client.gui.me.common.TerminalSettingsScreen.ignore.[3]
- The Bigger Reactors Cyanite Reprocessor gets the same settings and editor offsets, but its sort buttons use a horizontal offset of 22 instead.[7]
- Create's Blueprint, filter, Linked Controller, Schematicannon and Schematic Table screens each get custom sort button offsets. The Blueprint screen, for instance, uses a bottom of 7 and a horizontal offset of 4, while the Schematic Table uses a bottom of 8 and a horizontal offset of 9.[6]
- Ender Storage's item GUI, the Ex Machinis machine screens (Flux Compactor, Flux Hammer and Flux Sieve) and Immersive Engineering's Alloy Smelter and Blast Furnace all use the 30/-25 and 20/-10 button offsets. The Ex Machinis screens and those Immersive Engineering screens are also marked playerSideOnly = true.[8][9][10]
Villager trading bookmarks
The villager trading config exists in a Gravitas folder and in a server-named folder. In both, every profession's bookmark list is empty, in all the bookmark groups. That includes armorer, librarian, cleric and the rest, so nothing is bookmarked for you. For example, see globalBookmarks.librarian.[4][5]
What changed in Inventory Profiles Next between versions?
1 part
This pack ships Inventory Profiles Next 1.10.7 for Forge on Minecraft 1.18.2, and the mod has been in the pack since Gravitas 1.8b or earlier. There are no pack changelog entries for this mod, so everything below comes from the mod's own changelogs, newest first.[2]
Changes up to the version in the pack
- 1.10.7 (the version in this pack): auto-crafting with Chipped crafting tables now works on all versions, NeoForge is supported, and there may be a fix for a macOS crash when dropping lots of items. Minecraft 1.16 and 1.19.4 are no longer supported. It also added 1.20.2 snapshot support, which doesn't apply to this 1.18.2 pack.[2][12]
- 1.10.6: two more villager trading bookmark groups, disabled by default. You can enable them in Mod Settings and assign shortcuts in Hotkeys. It also added support for the trading blocks of Easy Villagers on all Forge versions.[13]
- 1.10.5: fixed a crash when the FTB Quest screen is opened from the inventory screen and closed, a game hang when the inventory is full and fast trading is used, and villager trade data not being stored properly on servers.[14]
- 1.10.4: the "Disable all input user for locked slots" option now also covers the swap buttons (1-9), and Forge 1.20.1 support was added.[15]
- 1.10.2: fixed bookmark buttons not working for the last 1 or 2 trades, and fixed a random crash some players had while trading or switching villagers. The changelog says the previous release had accidentally been built from 1.10.1 sources.[16]
- 1.10.0 and 1.10.1: added the villager and wandering trader trading enhancements, with shortcuts assignable to all actions so you don't need the GUI. Also added support for Chipped Stone Cutter like crafting tables on Forge and Fabric 1.16.5, 1.18.2 and 1.19.2.[17]
- 1.9.2: added a workaround for a Vault Hunters problem that was breaking auto refill, fixed the quick locked slot key not saving locked slots, added a workaround for macOS OpenGL issues on Forge builds, and made scout slots ignored.[18]
